  1. I am unsure whether we personally interacted back then off the top of my head, but the fact that you not only have evolved past the hate, but have gone back to make amends with those you feel you hurt speaks volumes about who you are as a person today. That much growth is incredibly hard to do, so massive congratulations on having achieved it.

Also, thank you for informing me that the term "hate parroting" has a name. That will be incredibly useful in my day-to-day life.

What you need is a page of all circles, then just fill in the details of each letter.  Let a blank circle represent the space, and you've easily got a better system than the Latin alphabet we're stuck with.

Actually, a blank circle would equal an "O", but I do get what you are saying...maybe replace the matoran symbol for O with a circle with a hollow dot in the center, that would be a good replacement...or make the space some new symbol, like a plus sign in the middle of the circle, or something unambiguous like that.

Well the first option won't work because that's the symbol for zero. :0: And a plus symbol looks a lot like a 4. :4:  Maybe you colour in the whole circle?  That'd be pretty tedious to do for every space, though.

Oh i've been writing the numbers wrong...I've been writing zero as a solid dot, with 6 being a hollow dot with a dot in the center. darnit. And I suppose you are right with the 4...

It would just have to be something that is very obviously not some other character. Dot on both the left and the right. Line across the bottom. A spiral. Eh. I may come up with something practical, see if something works.

I do like the idea of just printing out a page of circles, though...that would make this significantly more practical.

I've also seen some people develop shorthand that may make writing in this faster... ":" would equal B in that case, for example (since B is basically a semicolon in the middle of the circle).

  4. Nice electronic music. I like it enough that I might try a song or two, esp. Morlock.

Care to share what program you made these in?

Thanks! :P and I use a looooong list of software instruments and whatnot, but the DAW that I use is Ableton Live Suite.

Oh, hey, another producer around. I hadn't realized. I dropped you a follow on Soundcloud. You've got to some really good stuff. I might just have to pick up this album when it comes out. :D

  5. Personally, I wish that rule against controversial subjects was actually enforced.

Most of the kids hang in Bionicle Discussion these days, or in topics that the adults don't care for. Then the adults show in different topics with a different flavor. Basically, there's a bit of an interest divide between the older members and the younger ones, and the two groups are starting to ignore each other's posts/topics.

For example, consider the recent topic about Kohlii. The adults here yonder mostly ignored it except to rain on the kids' parade, and they were ignored.

Then look at the topic about the giant robot's size. The kids mostly ignored it, the adults spent several pages in intense discussion.

I think the groups will coexist okay as the forum ages. They may have different topics that they are interested in, but they aren't in conflict as of right now. And I think that conflicts can be handled as they come up - there's room for everyone here, and more variety means more opportunity for people to learn from each other.

It does have some downsides, but I don't think dividing up the forum will help. It just leads to more divisions and strife. A minor difference exists; let's not paint it with highlighter - let's demphasize it and try to pave it over if we can, and accept it where we can't. Accept the fact that we all want to discuss different things. Yeah?

...I may have not been too clear...my mistake, i wrote this pretty late last night XD

I did not mean enforcing a segregation between older fans and younger fans...I meant creating a subforum (or some other solution, I'm not an expert) where topics in bionicle that may not be suitable to younger fans can be discussed. There are always gonna be the topics where either older fans or younger fans ignore each other...But for some of bionicle's more mature topics (like i mentioned, religious themes surrounding Matoro and Vakama, gender issues within the story, etc), we havent yet been allowed to discuss them for the reason that they are not suitable to Bionicle's younger fans. What i was proposing was that an age-locked subforum could exist where those topics, and only those topics, coul be discussed.

  6. Kitania, I will give you that a lack of discussion is the major issue with the polls thus far. That was an error i was intending to repair with this proposed plan. Also, I can think of several cases where mocs, short stories, and art were met with acclaim, but directly violated cannon.

I think that, as long as enough time for community discussion is given, the information on the mangai will represent what a majority want. If it ends up making no sense, then Greg will be the ultimate veto and it will stop there.

If you think the above plan could be structured better to allow for better and more open discussion, I would love to know (I could not figure out a way to word that that does not sound sarcastic, but i assure you, i mean it earnestly).

  7. The main argument I've seen against canonization is conflict with headcannon. The thing is, headcannon, by definition, can directly conflict with established canon and be fine. There's nothing stopping me, right now, from believing that, for example, Matau was corrupted in 2005 instead of Vakama.

That being said, I don't like spontaneous canonization, and that's the other argument i've seen. As long as it's gone through a good approval process and enough open debate has happened, I can't see the issue with canonization.

EDIT: although, if in polls people elect to leave some things unknown, I will respect that.

  8. Staff prank...? i have a fealing i missed something...what is it?
