  1. BS01 has been working on a very special project that we hope you'll enjoy. As a teaser, here's a quick promotional logo and an excerpt from the upcoming story. We'll have plenty more details forthcoming, so stay tuned.
  2. Hey, guys. I threw this together last night and then edited it just now. I’m getting into making Bonkle fanon, something I haven’t really done in years. I had my character “Hakura, Toa of Plasma” for a long time, but I never really did anything with him. So why not start now? Consider this little short story the beginning of my fanon. I'm probably gonna write more of these. -------------------------------------------------- Jion. An island in the Matoran Universe located just northeast of the Southern Continent. An island with a history of war. The Fe-Matoran of the northern cliffs, the Bo-Matoran of the eastern forest, the Su-Matoran of the southern beaches, and the Vo-Matoran of the western plains all coexisted on the small island. The four tribes fought each other for its resources for hundreds of years, until Toa Suno, one of the first Toa of Plasma, made them aware of the dangerous monsters of the center, and united them against it for the sake of their protection. Having survived against the common enemy, the four tribes began to regard each other as friends, and built a city in the center of their home island. In honor of the Toa of Plasma who united them, the city became called Su-Metru. Though a handful of Matoran continued to live in the original villages, the majority migrated to the center, while those who remained in the villages acted as coast guards. For thousands of years, Jion continued to prosper, with Su-Metru becoming an advanced city where Matoran of different types could work together and see each other as equals. Soon, other types of Matoran, including Fa-Matoran, De-Matoran, Ba-Matoran, and Ce-Matoran, came to live in Su-Metru as it expanded from the center. Though Suno remained the island’s main protector for these thousands of years, he felt that his destiny was complete, and that he needed successors. Thus, he found one destined Matoran from each of the four original villages: Fe-Koro, Bo-Koro, Su-Koro, and Vo-Koro. The four gathered at the Spirit Temple of Su-Metru to begin their new destiny. Four Matoran entered the four doors of the Spirit Temple towards the Great Suva, each holding a glowing stone. From the northern entrance, a Fe-Matoran in silver and rust-colored armor and a burnt orange Kanohi Kakama. From the eastern entrance, a Bo-Matoran in green and cyan armor and a green Kanohi Miru. From the southern entrance, a Su-Matoran in black and white armor and a red Kanohi Hau. Finally, from the western entrance, a Vo-Matoran in blue and white armor and a white Kanohi Akaku. “So,” the Bo-Matoran started. “You three are gonna be my teammates?” “Aggai?” the Su-Matoran called out to the Bo-Matoran. “Toa Suno chose you too?” “Hakura?” the Bo-Matoran replied to the Su-Matoran. “I’d recognize that armor and that red mask anywhere! You’re gonna be a Toa too! This is great!” The Vo-Matoran looked at the two, eyebrows raised. “You two know each other?” “Yeah,” the Su-Matoran replied. “I’m Hakura.” He pointed to the Bo-Matoran. “And that’s my friend Aggai.” “Charmed,” Aggai replied with a smirk. “I’m Giyan,” the Vo-Matoran replied. She motioned her hand to the Fe-Matoran. “And who’s our friend over here?” “Call me Zugok,” the Fe-Matoran replied, bowing slightly from the waist. “Nice to meet all of you.” “Well,” Aggai called out. “Let’s do this thing!” “You’re an assertive one,” Zugok replied with only a slight hint of sarcasm. “Perhaps you’ll be our leader?” “I know he looks pretty easygoing, but I can vouch for him,” Hakura added. “I’m for it.” “Let’s not hold this up,” Giyan finished. “Shall we?” “Right.” The other three Matoran replied at once. In unison, the four Matoran placed their stones into the nearest empty slots in the Suva. The shrine glowed as it engulfed the four Matoran in a bright light. The four began to examine their hands and the rest of their bodies, then each other. "Hey, we got taller!" Aggai exclaimed. "Well, yeah," Giyan replied. "We're Toa now. Of course we're taller! And it feels great!" “Wow…” Hakura quietly exclaimed. “Not to sound vain here, but my armor never looked so good!” he added as he looked down at himself. For a Su-Matoran, Hakura always had quite a unique color scheme, which transitioned beautifully into his Toa form. From his chest down to his feet, it seemed as though his armor faded almost perfectly from black into white; his upper body covered in black with a dark shade of grey along his arms, and his lower body a lighter grey fading into white feet. His red mask gave a contrast which made it clear that he was a Su-Matoran. However, though not impossible, the red mask was still highly uncommon compared to the oranges and whites commonly associated with his kind. Hakura looked over to his friend, who himself was covered in bright green armor with heavy cyan accents. His overall build looked strong yet agile, fitting for one who spent much of his life climbing trees. “Aggai!” Hakura exclaimed, surprised. “Your hands!” “What!?” Aggai looked down at his hands and let out a slight yell. His silver fingers were much larger than he remembered, and ended in sharp points. “Are these my...tools?” Giyan laughed. “You look just like Toa Suno!” she commented, referring to Aggai’s claws, as they were identical to Suno’s own. “Maybe this is a sign that you’re our new leader after all!” “Perhaps it is,” Zugok replied to the Toa of Lightning. “I was only joking, you know.” “Hey, where are your tools?” Aggai asked the other three. Hakura looked to the middle of the Suva to see a curved sword, two large handheld daggers shaped like forks, and a spear. “I’ll take this one!” He reached for the sword and stabbed the sky, as he channeled a small surge of plasma along the blade. “These look pretty nice!” Giyan grabbed the two forks and twirled them while covering them in lightning, finishing in a defensive stance. “In that case, I’ll take the spear.” Zugok reached for the spear and took a firm, solid upright stance while holding it at a ready position. “Well, what do we call ourselves now?” Hakura asked, looking to Aggai. “We are the first actual Toa Team of Jion,” Giyan replied. “The Toa Jion?” “Works for me!” Zugok commented. “What say you, o fearless leader?” Hakura asked Aggai in a slightly joking manner. “I like it!” Aggai confirmed. “Toa Jion it is!” Zugok heard small footsteps over the other Toa’s banter. “Hey! Over there!” he called to the other three, pointing behind Hakura. The three looked in the direction in which Zugok pointed. There stood a small, hunched figure clad in orange and white armor, an orange Kanohi Pakari, and a staff with a claw-shaped head. “Ah, it is nice to see you four getting along so well!” the small figure commented with a laugh. His voice was firm, but with a sense of gentleness. “Toa...Suno!?” the four Toa called out, immediately recognizing the small figure. “No,” the elder replied. “That’s Turaga Suno to you. You are all Toa now. I have completed my destiny by uniting the people of Jion, and now it is your duty to protect them, as I continue to serve as their guide.” The four young Toa stood attentively. “Yes, Turaga!” “Now, follow me. Your people are waiting for their heroes.” Turaga Suno stepped out of the southern entrance, greeted by a crowd of Matoran of different types, all gathered to hear their new elder speak. “People of Su-Metru!” Suno announced. “You, the people of Jion, were once warring tribes. I have completed my destiny by uniting you all against the beasts of this island, and upon our victory, we founded our glorious city together as a symbol of the unity and friendship between our peoples. Starting today, our four new heroes will continue to uphold that, and to protect us from those who threaten it. Come forth, Toa Jion!” “The leader, Toa Aggai, the Spirit of the Green!” Suno announced as Aggai stepped forward, waving his silver clawed hand at his admirers. “Toa Hakura, the Spirit of Plasma!” Hakura stepped forward as Suno announced his name, proudly raising his fist in celebration as he grinned at the audience. “Toa Giyan, the Spirit of Lightning!” Giyan followed suit, simply stepping forward with a determined expression on her face. “And Toa Zugok, the Spirit of Iron!” Zugok calmly stepped forward, appearing much calmer than his teammates. “You four now represent the strength, the heart of the Matoran of Jion, as their new protectors!” As the four Toa took turns bumping fists in celebration, the Matoran of Jion cheered their new heroes on. Jion was about to experience a new era. -------------------------------------------------- Trivia: Besides Hakura, the other three Toa Jion’s names are Gundam references. EDIT: Fixed some typos.

  4. So, in G1, if Destiny was really just a universe-wide algorithm controlling the behaviour of every being in the MU, there's a number of disturbing implications... 1. First up, nobody has free will. Many species became self aware and sapient, but their personalities and emotions are just a manifestation of the source code. All choices they make are predetermined, and nobody can successfully make the choice to refuse their destiny. 2. Even when groups of characters appeared to be in opposition/conflict with one another, their actions are ultimately working towards the same goal. The destiny algorithm behaves in such a way to make many beings into complete psychopaths who work towards the universe's unified goal by brutally slaughtering others. One would think there'd be more efficient ways to program a bunch of demi-robots to repair a big robot to repair a planet, but, nope, bloodbath it is. 3. The destiny algorithm would have to account for outside factors, such as if a being from outside the GSR got in and interfered with things. Thus, the behaviour of all the beings in the area would have to change in order to deal with the intruder and then carry on with the algorithm. We know that MU beings' programming can be altered remotely, such as when Mata Nui gave them the ability to speak Agori. So presumably something similar could happen if the algorithm needed to respond to external factors. They're basically a hivemind. So, what are the implications of our favourite characters not having free will? Does it diminish the value of heroic acts like Matoro's sacrifice, or acts of cruelty by the villains? Does the algorithm still operate on Sphereus Magna? Or have they now truly transcended their programming? Thoughts?
  5. "You're mad. There's no way we can expect to overwhelm their forces. Especially with that do-gooder, Makuta-wannabe, Toa Tahu around, who always rushes in like the 'hero' he thinks he is every time a loaf of bread is stolen. . . To challenge them would be to court death!" The Queen of the Sisters of the Skrall, sitting on her dark throne, slammed her staff hard on the ground, creating a piercing crack that echoed throughout the chamber. "We've been to war with them before. Surely you've heard of this? Our lands are diminished and lacking in resources... of course we've led campaigns. What I wouldn't give to conquer their nations! But we have not the strength just yet." She fingered the striking red jewel that adorned her staff. "We have already lost many warriors." A stranger stood before her, someone even she did not know. This stranger was cloaked in shadow, with a long robe that covered its entire body. A hood obscured the head and face so completely that even the Queen of the Sisters, with her experience with shadows, could not pierce it with her gaze. The visitor was Toa-sized, and stood in the four-limbed upright stance that so many beings possessed, but they could still be many things, or even something new. The Queen could feel an aura of power resonating from the stranger, and an air of authority resembling her own. The convoy that had escorted the stranger to the Queen's court evinced that the being before her did in fact possess both. Beyond this, one other betraying characteristic stood out, the voice. The stranger was obviously female. Her voice was sharp and clear. Strong, yet glazed with a softness that was a little chilling. The Queen approved and almost envied. The stranger began her reply. "I am aware of your former excursions. I have not come before you merely to encourage another attempt, but to offer the hand of assistance. Besides that, I have already spoken with other groups, such as the Vorox, and the Skakdi, among many others. Groups with as much need for land and resources, and as strong a desire for revenge against the Glatorian and the Toa, as you. Many of them have already pledged their support. Feel free to confirm this through your contacts. What I have come to suggest is that a united front, which as I say others have already pledged to, would be much more likely to succeed." The Queen was amused, and displayed the fact with a bemused half-smile. "You speak of unity among us. Yet you must surely realize full well what the outcome of such a united front would be if it failed. If we were to launch a full-scale invasion, the retribution would be swift and terrible, the vengeance complete. None would escape their retaliation should the campaign fail. We would have but one shot, and failure would mean death for us all. . . Yes, I admit this. Their power and capability is that great. I am not foolish enough to pretend otherwise. They may be far weaker than we in other ways, with their precious "mercy" and "honor", but even they have their limits. An invasion the likes of which you speak would arouse even their carnal feelings. Relations are fraught with tension as it is." The stranger spread her arms wide, then slowly let them fall. The Queen cocked her head as the stranger went on. "What if I told you I could guarantee the end of our biggest obstacle? What if I told you my allies and I possess a weapon even the 'great and mighty' Toa Tahu would be helpless against? Something no other Toa, Glatorian, or warrior of any kind could resist." The Queen was intrigued now, but skeptical. "Is this so? And what of their last-ditch, final-resort weapon of war? What of the one who was sought to end their silly civil war of not too long ago? What of Mata Nui and the Mask of Life?" "Mata Nui hasn't been seen since the war you speak of, and hardly at all since the Great Reformation. We will strike so swiftly and decisively that the Mask will be in our hands before Mata Nui can take any notice. You are surely aware of his lethargic slumber and meditations." "You know the Mask's location?" The Queen frowned. "I shall need confirmation of this before I agree to anything the likes of which you suggest. And what of Tahu?" "Discovering the location of the Mask was not an easy challenge, but we have achieved it. You shall have your confirmation. Now, as for Tahu. . . Allow me to show you our secret weapon. Even Tahu shall be helpless before us." She reached into her cloak and withdrew a round object wrapped in cloth, which she held upright. Allowing the cloth to slide open but to remain as a barrier between her hand and the object, she revealed a glowing green orb. "Naturally you shall require a demonstration of its power first." Several guardsmen stepped forward, as if afraid she planned to use it on the Queen. The Queen herself scowled. The stranger returned it to the cloth and her cloak. "It would be useless against you, your majesty. It only affects Toa." The Queen studied the stranger carefully. She was most certainly quite mad. Wasn't she? And yet. . . She leaned forward in her throne, suddenly hungry to hear more. "I'm listening." * ~ * * ~ * * ~ * The Great Plains stretched out in every direction. He thoughtfully took note of the contrast between it and the desert wasteland it had once been, so, so long ago. Now it glistened as far as the eye could see with luscious grass and other vegetation. In the distance, cities adorned the horizon. In the center of the plain stood a great monument of metal, glistening as the sun's rays were reflected off its silver surface, though it was highly textured with the pits and wear of time. At the very highest tip of this monument he stood, a figure of red and gold, alone but for his reflection on the shining metal on which he stood. His mask, bearing an expression of the utmost intensity and bearing a row of three war lines across each cheek, gazed out over the landscape. In this place, far from civilization, he was free from the trials of everyday. Free to fully grasp the big picture of his life. His name? Toa Tahu. He stood on the peak of what had once been known as Mt. Ihu. What a long, long time since it had been known by that name. . . he was almost surprised he still remembered it. Barren of the former stone that had stretched heavenward, it was now a mountain of metal. Indeed, he stood upon the face of the since-transferred Great Spirit Mata Nui. The nose, to be exact. And what a life I've had, he thought. I've led rebellions, fought wars, guided societies, and walked the footsteps of so many strangers. He grimaced. And yet. . . how much have I, right now, to show for it? A good deal, some would say, more than most. . . but is it enough? He contemplated the state of this world, and that of the past. Once, he and his kind had lived in their own well-structured world, governed by an overarching system of order. All they had to do was fulfill their duties, obey their instructions, and the world took care of itself. Only the rebellious, those who turned against this order, needed be opposed. Granted, these rebels won great victories and greatly complicated the otherwise simple world, but nevertheless it stood in stark contrast to this. . . He had lived in that old world up until it fell apart. Since then his kind had lived in a far more different form of "freedom" than any they had ever known before. Without the Great Spirit to guide us more directly, things changed so much. They had to figure life out for themselves. They had the principles and virtues of their old life to cling to, for which they were very thankful and grateful, but their world no longer had a clear structure of its own. They had to build one. And so they had. They formed kingdoms, nations, they developed governments. But alas, this had led to many a war. Tahu, as the head of the Toa Order, had done his best to lead his brethren in their quest to maintain peace. But oh, the road had been fraught with hardship, and didn't always work out the way they wanted. At least we were used to that part, he thought with a grimace. And now? The world of Spherus Magna was spinning on as it ever had. The nations lived more or less in harmony. The Toa did their jobs well. Alas, their kind were diminishing in number, but then they had help from the Glatorian, among others. Tahu often reminisced fondly the tales of old. Once upon a time his world had been straightforward and clear: Long, long, long ago, many millenia even before the old world had fallen. There had been many lifetimes of struggle with darkness even before the old world fell. But way, way back, there had been peace. Back when the world had been clear and simple, and there was a job for everyone to do good and a world that was also good, and served an immense purpose, and there was little room for darkness.Alas that darkness had ever come to be! The more he thought about it and all the harm it had caused, the angrier he became. Sparks flew from his clenched fists. Finally he settled down. The world was. . . what the world was. If they wanted anything different, they would have to make it that way. If they wanted change, they would have to build it. Unfortunately, not everyone wanted that. There were those groups, oh far too many such groups, who wanted to wrestle power over the world away from those who governed it well. Or well enough, anyway. The darkness, in short, wanted dominion and oppression. He had never understood it and did not believe he ever would. But there it was. The Skrall still lived out in their wastelands, the Skakdi in their old holdings. These among others stood in sharp refusal to convert to any kind of civilization, preferring violence and destruction. They've been acting up lately, he mused. A lot of raids in a short time. Are they planning something? He shrugged off the thought in indifference. As if such plans hadn't been made many thousands of times before in his life by such beings, only to be thwarted in the end. Part of him relished the thought of another war, if only as an excuse to exercise his power and vent some frustration. He would have felt guilty about this desire if he weren't often so frustrated with the world for refusing to shape up. Still, many millenia of war were a hard thing to shake out of beings who lived so long, even out of those who did not. In truth not all the Skakdi and Skrall clung to the old ways, and then there were those of his own kind who turned traitor. More nonsense he didn't understand, and a strange blurring of the lines. Alas, he would have to give the world time. There are so many worlds out there. He remembered from his rare conversations with Mata Nui. How can we expect to get anywhere if we insist on tearing ourselves apart? He wondered if this were true of all worlds, if they all went through these trying periods. Growth pains, perhaps. He smirked at the thought, finding it amusing, in a not completely pleasant sort of way. * ~ * * ~ * * ~ * Distant sounds akin to beckoning thunder drew him from his contemplation. It was faint, but distinguishable. Yelling. And. . . drums? Surely it isn't the sounds of war. That was the last thing he wanted to deal with just then. Once, battle had given him a thrill. He was always quick to lead the charge, with the sense of virtue and charisma that was the hero's standard. But now? After a long life-history of conflict, after experiencing many of the most pivotal moments in a universe's history, and after many millenia of leading a planet's people into the future, including his own, such feelings no longer came as easily. He wanted it to end. He was tired of it. Sick of it. He wanted peace. Peace that would last. But it was peace that was ever eluding him. He strode, slowly but deliberately, to the far eastern edge of the summit. Looking out across Mata Nui's old cheekbone, and farther beyond that, he felt the muscles in his knees weaken. No. Beyond the lay of the Great Spirit machine, the eastern plains were darkened, blackened by swarming bodies. Marching soldiers. And who were they? He saw Skakdi, Skrall, even Vorox, along with many other types of unscrupulous being. He knew there may even be a few turncoat Toa down there, and Mata Nui knows what else. It was a grand army, looking to be a million or more strong. He sighed. He closed his eyes. Come on, Tahu, you've got to work to do. Snap out of it. Indeed, this army looked strong enough to challenge the nations in the west. His people among them, though he owed his allegiance to all the free nations. He took a deep breath. Since the Great Reforming, the Golden Armor had given him great power. Not only was he a master of his innate elemental fire, but in the centuries since he had honed his skills in the use of the powers of the armor, which since being used to destroy Rahkshi Kraata had given him almost all the powers of a Makuta. It was a strange thing, as that same day so long ago of Rahkshi destruction and power gained had seen the end of his greatest enemy, the Makuta Teridax. That armor he now wore. He contemplated for a moment how to approach this. He then did a quick mental check of his powers. There were so many it used to be hard to keep track, though after millenia it came easily. 43 of them, including fire. Then, tipping his toes over the edge of the summit, he began to slide. After a few thousand feet of watching the silvery and pitted surface speed by, he was nearing the bottom of the peak. From there he launched himself into the sky and began to speed ever upwards, at an angle, passing over many more thousands of feet of silver surface. Gravity was his servant. Finally the old shell of Mata Nui slipped to the rear of his view, and he beheld a great swarm of darkness many miles below. He began to descend, at great speed at first, but slowing as he drew within a mile. Many weapons and blasts of energy were now being hurled at him, but his Mask of Shielding combined with his incredible dodging ability protected him from it all. Now close enough to effect his powers, he waved his sword over a group of a thousand soldiers. They were suddenly overcome with great fear, and began to flee. He caused another battalion to become enraged, and they turned on each other in confused conflict. Still another group began to float into the sky, weightless. Another thousand soldiers were scattered by a tornado even as stormclouds gathered around the field; a large number were magnetized into a great heap, while still more were forced to clutch their ears against intense sound waves; some were teleported a mile away, others gripped by thorns and vines; still more weighed down with intense gravity, frozen in stasis, suddenly attacked by hordes of rahi, gripped in a wave of slow motion energy, confused and scattered, or literally fell asleep on the spot. The Golden Armor hadn't had this much exercise in over a century, Tahu mused. He was beginning to feel some of that old thrill. Soon enough this army would be scattered and the free world safe once more. But in the next moment Tahu was reminded of something. See, the trouble with the Mask of Shielding. . . it only protects you from the front. It doesn't protect from an attack on your backside. But a mile in the air, Tahu hadn't been expecting one. Which is why it came as a surprise. He was hit, hard, and whatever it was that struck him was pressing against his back and forcing him toward the ground at terrible speed. In that moment he was thankful for his armor-given powers of invulerability, quick healing, and adaptation, which he instinctively activated. These powers made it impossible for him to be physically harmed, possible for him to heal quickly, and to adapt quickly to a given situation. He wished he'd been using them before, but hadn't thought it necessary. It's also been a while since I've learned something the hard way. . . His mind was racing as he hurtled toward earth. The next thing he realized, which puzzled him, was that the powers he had just activated weren't working. He still hurt more than he should have. He also wasn't as sure of what to do next as he should have been. What was going on? He still couldn't tell what was pressing against his back. It felt like a weapon? Or a boulder. In his confusion and perhaps a little sudden fear he thrust out his sword in order to emit a jetstream of fire to slow his descent. A chill went through his aching spine when he realized it wasn't working. He tried harder as he drew within one hundred feet of the ground. Come on, come on, not interested in dying as a pancake. . . Too late. He hit the ground, hard. He bounced, striking the ground again and again before rolling to a stop. Now he ached everywhere. And whatever it was that had forced him down now landed in the dirt a dozen paces away. He glanced up at the sound. It was a hammer, and an exquisite weapon of elegant design. In the hilt was a glowing, emerald green gemstone. He thought its color and spherical shape seemed familiar, though he couldn't quite place it. The rest of the hammer was a beautifully crafted gray and gold. He dimly realized he was now lying in the middle of the battlefield, and the forces around were slowly recovering from his attacks. He was, however, in the center of a wide empty clearing amidst them. The only sign of anyone near was the sound of footsteps behind him. Groaning in pain and still wondering why he hadn't recovered yet, he pushed himself into a sitting position and turned round. Striding toward him was a small group of Toa-sized figures. Every one of them was shrouded in a cloak so dark he couldn't make out anything more but the weapons they held and a rough sillhouette. Their number was five. One bore both a shield and sword, another a pair of sickles, the next a pair of staves, and the other two, including the leader, no weapon at all. They were striding toward him, and they came to a halt not far off, a couple of them crossing their arms. Tahu slowly experimented with shifting to a standing position, every nerve on edge. He could feel his body beginning to recover its normal functions, and his mind struggled to form a cohesive plan of action. Whoever these beings were, they were giving off an aura of great power. He was wise enough by now to know there are certain beings you can't afford to take lightly, even if you did possess the power of a Makuta and millenia of battle experience. This is especially true when said powers aren't working like they should. These certainly looked to examples of such beings, especially given the way they had knocked him out of the sky and presumably weakened his powers. They stood, silent, watching him. As if waiting for him to make the first move. As an experiment, Tahu put his hands behind his back and attempted to make a small flame with his finger. It worked, and came as easily as it should have. His aches and pains were also healing quickly, and his mind began to race at normal speed again. And yet caution must remain a virtue. "What is it you want?" he demanded, as if he didn't have a pretty good idea. He noticed that the armed forces were forming a broad circle around them, as if gathering to watch a fight. No, that was evidently exactly what they were doing. He presumed the five in front of him were the ones in charge. Ignoring his question, they stood silent and still. Their arrogance somewhat chilled him. It had been a long, long time since anyone had looked down on him as a Muaka looks on helpless prey, and yet these beings seemed to be doing just that. It reminded him of someone he had once known. Actually multiple beings. Not beings he had liked. And in that moment his hot-headed indignance at such treatment flared up in full force. Well, he would just have to treat them the same way he had treated the others, and if worse came to worse, escape and get help. "I said, what is it you want? Speak!" One of them, the tallest, the one besides the leader who held nothing, threw back his head and laughed, a deep resounding laugh, yet the voice was scratched. Tahu could feel his temper flaring. The leader, then, merely raised an arm and pointed at Tahu. He then drew his index finger across his neck. That did it. "Seeking to fell the leader of the Toa Order, are we? You beyonders have greater gall, ambition, and foolishness than I've seen in long time. I will delight in knocking you from your pedestals." Despite his words, the great Toa of Fire still felt a chill. But he knew his duty. It began. Making the first move with full confidence, having momentarily forgotten that his powers had ever failed, Tahu launched himself into the air with a wave of gravity, and launched waves of fear, anger, confusion, and sleep at his assailants. They shrugged it off and retorted with attacks of their own. Tahu felt his own gravity counter-acted by the same force, while beams of ice, earth, and. . . light were hurled at him? Their minds are well trained, shrugging off my attacks like that. . . and what's with the light? A bolt of flame canceled the ice, while plasma melted the earth and, in a reaction both instinctive and ironic, darkness canceled out the light. Instead of struggling against the gravity, he decided to go with it. Reversing course, he slammed, feet first this time, into the ground, sending shockwaves of plasma erupting through it. Bursts of lava jetted from beneath the surface and great pits of magma were opened across the immediate area. The circle of soldiers backed away. A fitting field of valor for a Toa of Fire. Raw battle erupted. Tahu exerted his entire arsenal of powers against his adversaries in every effective way he could think of. But what they lacked in power they made up for in sheer skill. A string of boulders he'd commanded some trees to throw were all shattered by a single expertly thrown shield, which bounced between them. Already one of them was freezing and solidifying pieces of his magma field, while the very plants he sought to control rebelled against him, commanded by an assailant who evidently had control of his own over the vegetation. Tahu was forced to slice a row of thick advancing trees with a great arc of flame. Well trained Makuta-spawn, whoever they are. . . The one he had recognized as the leader, also the one with the power of elemental light, did a twirl through the air and landed on a small island, upon which that hammer still sat. He gripped the handle and hefted it with a flourish before leaping away to avoid a wave of magma. Right then, that's enough of this! Unleashing a powerful wave of stasis energy, Tahu struck home, managing to lock all but one of his assailants in place. The leader was still free. He grimaced in satisfaction at the statue-esque forms. The next instant he was dealt a searing blow to his side. He grunted, unsure of where the attack had come from. He knew he'd missed one, but the leader hadn't been close enough to. . . He glanced up and saw him speeding away in a blur. Great, now he's a Pohatu wannabe, is he? Well let's watch him dance. . . Rising into the air again and dodging incoming attacks, he retorted with those of his own. But even with the help of the power which granted him perfect accuracy, he failed to land a felling blow. Plasma beams, electricity, waves of gravity, tornadoes, firebolt after firebolt, and repeated waves of stasis, all to no avail. He dances well. . . Finally he tried something he found both simple and clever. Quickly and wildly calculating his opponent's next move, he raised a root out of the ground in his path. Come on, come on. . . YES, nailed him! The figure crumpled to the ground, losing grip on the hammer while something else was also loosed from his figure. It rose in the air and then fell at Tahu's feet. A Kakama. They wear masks, or at least this one does. . . In an instant the hammer was reacquired, and Tahu watched as he reached into his cloak, retrieving something Tahu couldn't see, and then lifting to his face. Tahu was no longer feeling chilled, but now he felt a little disturbed. Who are they? More roots locked his enemy's feet in place. Glancing about at the gathered army to make sure they weren't yet advancing, he strode forward. He wanted answers. As he drew close, his opponent waved his hammer toward him. The Mask of Shielding instinctively came on, but no attack actually came. Not from the front. An instant later Tahu slammed back first into the ground, crushed by incredible gravity. His limbs were frozen to the ground in ice so cold it felt hot, his torso in earth so solid it was practically stone, and a vine of thorns wrapped itself about his neck. How are they free! He lashed out in anger, only for this to be replaced with fear when none of his powers answered his call. Not one, not even his mask. Desperately he tried power after power, not one working. His five assailants were gathering around him, catching their breath but not making any noticeable effort to keep him in place, except that the leader was pointing the hammer straight at him. They had him. "What is it. . . you want with me?" he gasped against the intense pull weighing him down. The leader handed the hammer to the being next to him, who kept it aimed at Tahu's chest, and strode forward. He stopped, put his hands on his hips, and looked Tahu over, slowly. Then he pulled back his hood, revealing a shining gold Kanohi Tryna, and laughed. The laugh was shrill and high, and Tahu realized that he was a she. "I've told you what we want. With you out of the way, the free world will soon be ours! It will soon belong to all who know what freedom really is!" She raised her arms, and the army, who had now gathered near, erupted in hoots and shouts. "You. . ." Tahu breathed, the chill returning with great intensity. "I know you. . . thought you were. . . dead." "I'm still alive as they come, dear." She smirked. "It was a clever charade, though, I must say, convincing the world of my death. Well, rather those who knew me, like you." She began to walk in a circle around him, step after step. "I've learned a lot since then, though, believe me." "How have you. . . done this?" He had to keep her talking, praying for rescue. "Beaten you? It wasn't easy, I'll tell you that." She leaned down and ran a finger across his mask. "But oh, so worth it, my dear Tahu." She resumed her walk. "You see the stone embedded in the hammer? Surely you noticed it. Does a certain. . . Toa Destroyer. . . ring a bell in that dusty memory of yours? I'm sure it does." Indeed it did. A being whose power was purely anti-Toa. It had the power to completely nullify a Toa's elemental abilities, mask powers, and even their physical strength. A hundred Toa or so had died before they had been able to stop it. Unfortunately, they had never learned the source of its power. The scraps had flown too far, had been too scattered. "Now then, you notice the crystal embedded in the hammer over there?" The green, glowing orb. Tahu had noticed it alright. "Well, tracking it down had been no easy feat, I assure you. I nearly lost an arm. But my point is, that gemstone was once the beating heart of that noble Toa Destroyer of old. It was the source of his power. And here's the best part, my dear Tahu. As you can see, I've learned how it works, and learned to use it against anyone I wish." Tahu's mind raced. There had to be some way out of this. Something. . . anything. Toa Tahu now felt great fear. Only he did not fear death. No, he feared something far worse. "Tahu, you have no idea how long we've all been waiting for this day. The world, in fact. I'm almost sorry it's already over." She reached into her cloak and withdrew a similar hammer, but somewhat more simple in its design. "Do you like my hammers?" she crooned. "I find that they reflect my own character. Strong, noble, powerful. A striking image, they are." Any feelings of hope Tahu had been feeling were quickly fading. His mind had exhausted itself of options. He saw little possibility that anyone would come to his rescue. He had told no one where he'd gone. Time to accept defeat. But not without a final word. "You'll never. . . win. In the end, such as you will always. . . lose. In more ways than you. . . may ever know." She was regarding him with amusement. He knew that look. But he also knew the truth of his own words. He had never expected to live forever, and he wondered if he was about to die. I wonder what it's like. One final idea hit him. He tried going nova. What to lose? But even that didn't work. And he knew there was no reasoning with beings like her. The best he might do is distract her, buy time. But his mind was so sluggish from lack of oxygen, he couldn't think of much to say. "Well Tahu, you're about to discover a new world. . . or nothing. I don't know. I just know you'll be out of my way." She thrust the hammer at him. He didn't even flinch. But she paused. "Actually, it would be a shame to destroy such a trophy. . ." She reached down and peeled the Hau from his face. "Farewell, Tahu." She leveled her hammer. He opened his mouth to speak, but it was too late. And then the last thing Toa Tahu, great hero and leader of the Toa Order, knew before his passing, was light. His final thoughts were these: What will the world do without me? * ~ * * ~ * * ~ * And so the tale of Toa Tahu came to end. Or perhaps the next chapter began. He finally found the peace he sought, although in the final moments he wished it otherwise, for sake of his people.
  6. Characters based on the new upcoming sci-fi FPS RPG MMO made by Bungie. Here we have an entire fire team consisting of a Warlock mage, Titan brute and a Hunter assassin. Weapons are modified Brickarms weapons, Helmets are modified TLG parts and the pauldrons are made by Brickforge. The decals are designed and printed by me, while I've used paper decals for 4 years, these right here are produced with my newly imported vinyl sticker sheets. They have a glossy finish, more vibrant colors, durable, water resistant and makes me able to make sharper decals. I am very much satisfied with the result. Thanks for reading. 7. "Is something wrong Brother? What troubles you?" Her muted reply comes from afar, as if through a heavy curtain. Her voice is familiar . . . and yet it is tinged with . . . what? Concern? It is so hard to . . . tell. Quick as a blink, the world ceases it's murky, sick tint and his eyes burn with terrible clarity. Hyper-sensitivity shatters mind and body like thin glass, and inwardly he writhes at the searing cuts. A breath of wind is a scream. The sandy street grinds his feet away. Colors . . . they burn the eyes. He stifles a moan as his brain is struck with a violent ache. He totters, nerves on fire. He feels every scratch on the nearby figures metallic blue body, every creak and groan of her metal bones, and every swish of her toned muscles rubbing against rough silver armor. Her sunset eyes glow bright and make him wince. She is concerned. More than that, she is alarmed; wary. Afraid. Rightly so. She should be. He can burn her to ash. He opens his mouth in shock at the evil thought. No! He must protect her. All of them. No time. No time at all to linger here. He must go quickly or those around will perish. The thought delights him. It makes him vomit sparks and sizzling green acid. No time. He feels it coming, something wrong inside, shadows twisting into knots, a flood of heat and fire raging so close that his heart quails. A darkness gathers, and he reels away from the clammy touch of it on his shoulder, and it whispers obscenities with a grating whisper that thunders in his ear and mind. It is frighteningly familiar. Like an old friend with a smile and a knife. The fire inside begins to consume. "Run! Run Gali! No time . . . " his tortured whisper spits. A volcano blossoms and roars to be free, and a voice sibilantly intones, "Break our chains. Empty yourself, and become one with the Void." "Are you frightened, Fire Spitter? Of me? Of us?" Gali comes forward, her worry salty to the senses. He franticly whirls around and sees nothing but construction and half made silver structures, pointing like fingers in the twilit sky. Domes catch the suns last orange rays. Not here! He screams to himself. There are people here. Matoran will be hurt. The Voice pushes with a seductive hand. "Yes. Try this one." He can't stop it. The volcano erupts with a fraction of it's mighty power. He roars and clenches his metal hands as energy courses through his muscled red body. Night comes forth. Blackness incarnate, swirling with flame; pure Void wreathed in fire. He longs to loose it on the world. A twisted smile splits his masked face. She does not have time to cry out. At the last moment Gali's hands release a nimbus of watery blue and a large bubble envelopes her in a life saving embrace. It is not enough. Power smashes into her like a boiling wave from Karzahni with such force she gapes. And then she is gone, her defense boiled away in a heart beat, her body blasted away down the sandy street and through several buildings by a fist of Void. The Dark grows, and a wall of wind picks up sparks and flame and unleashes a maelstrom of destruction in a massive radius. Empty homes melt. Half-made towers burn. Cries drift faintly on a deadly wind. Paradise this will be no more. No! No! Gali! The City! He roars for control, and his muscles and pistons bulge as the torrent of calamity ceases. But the damage is done. His mind is breaking, and an aura of heat and shadow cloaks him as if to strangle him. All around lies charred remains. His gold armor gleams. The dam crumbles and a flood bursts through. His flaming eyes brighten. A terrible, familiar whisper laughs a knife of ice inward through the boiling chaos. He must get away. Before the dam is gone. With a cry trailing behind, he runs. He speeds through empty streets like a comet. The ground shudders and erupts under his feet. Sand liquifies into green acid. A halo of lightning falls from quickly gathering clouds that eat the sky. Hardly realizing what is happening, he melts through the Great Wall of stone and steel and breaks through, rushing on. He must get away. So others will be safe. He runs. Terrified. Exhilarated. Panicked, The storm now gathers in the evening sky from all directions. Hot rain splatters and sizzles on dry ground and grass. A slashing gust of air brings anger and confusion. Shadows dance in macabre shapes and kindle hunger in his body. Bouts of flame gasp out of his mouth as the light in his armored chest flickers. Hungry for substance. Thirsty for life, but only heat to drink. He reaches. He consumes. Energy flares. The storm grows up above and swirls with chaos. An eye appears and forms out of roaring wind and thunder, and it's chilling calm removes the fury outside. Then a prickle on his neck. A blackness seeps into his bones and oozes down his spine. He spasms and fights for control. A figure appears out of the raging dark, slowly and deliberately in his minds eye. Black as pitch, lightning darting behind it. He is looking at himself, a dark reflection of what is. Its voice slithers around him with tentacles of cold shadow, ready to extinguish his fire, and he knows the voice with a crippling clarity. It is not his own though it comes from the evil mirror image of himself. The ensuing laugh resonates from the darkness. "Tahu . . . old friend. Was I missed?" A silence quivers in the heart of the storm. "You." The voice slides like oil. "Tis I, little one, born from the void, come back from nothing. See me. Know me." The storm falters as Tahu collapses from a hidden strain. "Yes Tahu. Your destiny is mine. Ever since I saw you your light burned bright. Did you think I fell? When my brother struck me down at the height of glory and triumph?" The voice becomes still and reflective, which is more frightening then it's sibilant dreadful tones. "Such power was mine. And now? A hundred millennia for nothing," it spits, then continuos with a sly tongue, "Ah . . . no matter. A new era is dawning. The future awaits. And not even my brother shall stop me . . . stop us, this time." Tahu pushes helplessly against the tentacles that bury into his body and influence him, on the verge of terror. "I will not be your lackey like some Rahi, or fall under your shadow. I'd rather die," he defies hoarsely. "That will be arranged," rumbles the voice, "I only need your exceptional physical body once I skin you of that foul golden armor. I knew you would not break or kneel on your own free will . . . but there was alway the hope. No matter. You will quite simply fight yourself." Tahu's mind erupts in pain as if needles of ice are being hammered in. He writhes in agony. "There are a thousand ways to die. Most will hurt," the dark figure grates. The pain is endless and mounting. Tahu screeches to rip off his mask, anything that will lessen the assault. Hope begins to shrivel like a dead blossom. Life flashes as his body leaves his minds grasp, and he can feel the voices perverse smile. He pulls the only strand in the web that could free him. Anger. Fury descends while at the same time he inflicts a psychic barrage of pure mental confusion at the shadows. Success filters through the rage as the voice roars in consternation and the tentacles slip. He can feel his body again. But the voice is still there, unleashing chaos. "Yes Tahu. The shadow is part of you now, it has always been, and this time I will prevail. Tahu grimaces as another round of psychic pain bombards him. He . . . cannot . . . get free. The darkness . . . the poison! . . . it eats away. Two Tahus face one another. Light and Dark. There is only one way to end it. One way. Light Tahu manages a resigned and grimacing smile. "You shall not have any part of me Makuta. And you shall never see the light nor the dark again. It is your time. And I will take us both into the Void before I let you walk again. Let Destiny decide our doom." He searches and finds the dying chaos of Light Tahu, the rage and power of Shadow Tahu, and the black monstrous presence of Makuta's spirit pulling their strings like a puppeteer. Tahu digs deep, and feels the ocean of fire inside. Tahu reaches, and hot warmth becomes sizzling heat. The ground turns to glass. A nimbus of pure fire burns like a star. The thought dwells in him that chaos will be unleashed, that the City will burn and that the land will be ash for a millennia. Shadow Tahu laughs violently. Light Tahu shudders in agony. Makuta thunders for control. Can he destroy all he knows? Can he even banish the demons that haunt him? Will he violate his oaths and code to achieve peace? He decides. He lets it all go. Only one thing matters. Evil will be vanquished at all costs. A small price for destroying the Shadows. ~ Gali wakes from her her crumbled sleep and stumbles out of the burning dwelling that would be her tomb. It collapses with a rush of sparks and a whooshing crash of heat. Her body quivers and aches, her mutilated armor charred. Her armor and power protected her, and she sends a prayer of thanks to the heavens. Her eyes wander over the destruction brought to here. Tahu is gone. No bodies, thank Mata Nui. She acts quickly and decisively. There is no time for panicked worry or befuddled horror. She raises her hands and calls to the sky as an aura of blue surrounds her. Clouds stir and gather into heavy grey lumps, the last rays of sunset glinting of the swirling moisture. A cool drizzle turns to pouring rain in an instant, and douses the hungry fires and smoke all around. Water heals and smooths torn earth, and the sharp smell of soot fades into a refreshing aroma of spring. The rain ceases, and rivulets of water drip down over broken ruins. Steam curls. She cannot linger or help those trapped in the rubble. She can feel a familiar coldness creeping into her being, and quickly takes in the northern sky and gapes at a whirling vortex consuming the horizon in flame, ash, and dark flashing clouds. Chaos. For a fleeting moment she catches a glimpse of blood red eyes glowing in its depths, and she knows them. No. It cannot be. "Makuta," she spits. She sucks in cool evening air tinged with a trace of the bitter destruction to the north. She cannot do this alone. But few are near who can aid in time. Her brothers are scattered, her friends near yet beyond aid, The Council! There is a way. Hastily her mind wanders down a little used path, praying she will get through. She probes a psychic landscape and finds the faint pathway with a feeling of triumph. Her voice is flung an incomprehensible distance. Brother, heed me. Tahu sickens. Makuta has risen. He returns and attempts to destroy him. Doom is at hand for the City. Help me now and bring aid. Use the suva to travel here now. I go to my duty . . . and perhaps my destiny. She sends a picture, the world in chaos. Silence fills the empty aftermath of her mental shout. No answer. She cries out in frustration. No one can come. She steels herself for the battle of a lifetime. Not since Karzahni itself was submerged by her hand has she called upon the waters to aid her like this. Suddenly a voice enters her mind like a sunbeam through cloud, warm and light, masculine, and full of intense scrutiny and worry. No question is raised as they exchange pictures with one another at the speed of thought. I come sister with powerful friends. Be strong. My friends are . . . very eager to end this. I will not need a shrine to quick-travel there. The voice leaves her, and Gali relaxes with a shaky breath as peace calms her. She sets her teeth and readies herself. Aches are washed away in healing drops of dew. Armor adapts, smooths, and ripples into strong sliver plating that will handle the worst of flames. Oh Tahu . . . please be alright. Her metallic skin prickles, and she turns to behold the wall of a still-standing building of great height. Space in front of it suddenly warps and congeals like gel, and Gali steps back as monsters and giants emerge out of thin air. A dragon, mighty and quivering with familiar darkness and power, sweeps by her without notice, a rapturous gleam in his eye of fire and an eager smile on jaws that could snap her head off. Next comes a handsome yet monstrously alien being, tall and gold with bulging muscles and cracked armor that oozes green haze. He floats in a halo of green energy and glows with a dark power. He looks at Gali through a misty eyed helmet, and eyes blaze at her uncomfortably. On his heels is a female Toa, lithe and dangerous with a curvaceous blue armored body. Gali feels a kinship with the sister Toa, but it swiftly ends with the murderous light in the others eyes. A glowing red gem beats in her chest. She walks forward as if every move will kill, and broken shackles are around her arms. Behind her out of nothingness, a giant being seemingly carved out of ancient stone with every muscle etched with symbols strides a head taller than even the dragon. A regal power that could level a realm goes before him, and his slit eyes glow with green death. As he unsheathes a massive war hammer, the last figure pops through just as space snaps back with a thud and a flash. Gali smiles as he comes forward, a figure brilliant as a midday sun, an energetic grace to his walk. A concerned frown parts his handsome yet mottled gold and white features. All five of them look at the horizon, unspoken questions meeting unspoken answers. The male Toa's face darkens. "Fortune favored us Gali. I guess Destiny, it would seem, brought us here." Gali nods with relief, then self consciously bows a little at the beings before her. Most do not deserve her respect at all, but she relents in the face of such power here. "Thank you Takanuva. Thank you all for coming. Makuta has returned, and the rivers for kios around are crying out." The Dragon hisses sarcastically, "Fools to think you were rid of him so easily. Perhaps "Destiny", as you say, will let me have my revenge after all." The female Toa scoffs, "Destiny indeed Miserix," she sighs in detached vexation, as if the world in turmoil means nothing to her, "Well . . . It seems I am needed. Let us be quickly rid of this monster. I have a trial to attend," she bitterly grins. The floating gold being smiles placidly, "Tuyet, we are all monsters." "Shut up, Brutaka." Takanuva scolds, and glances at the last silent figure of ancient power. "Artahka was more than willing to help." His rumble could have been a thank you, "We meet again Gali. Lead on. In unity we shall end this destruction . . . in unity," he intones in his old and young voice at the others pointedly. Some nod reluctantly, and Gali is filled with hope. But can she truly lead this group of beings into chaos to face the Master of Shadows? Yes, she can, and will. "For Unity. For Duty. For Destiny. We shall end Makuta's threat forever. And he shall forever be . . . as nothing," she smiles grimly at a hidden joke. Takanuva nods in understanding. Tuyet smirks, "Is the noble Gali willing to get her hands dirty and violate her precious Toa Code? Can you truly destroy anything? Him? Can you truly do your oh so wonderful duty? Gali smiles back matter-of-factly. "When the time comes for any of that, I'll leave the Makuta for you. And Tuyet? Do not lay one drop or finger upon my brother." ~ They come. And nothing is going as planned. Tahi is strong. Too strong. Both Tahu's. The three of them duel, but he manages to hold them off to think. The storm swirls and crackles heat. Such power. A second chance. A hundred centuries of planning, and all for nothing and ruin. But an opportunity has arisen. And it is closing fast. What is Tahu doing? He burns with an orange glow. Horror blossoms at a realization, and Makuta knows an emotion that he never before even contemplated. Panic. He seeks to end me and take himself with it. Outraged silence trickles into a hideous steel trap of purpose. He laughs. It's maniacal sound strengthens the chaos outside. The cards have been played. Only one course remains. Total commitment. Tahu will die. But out of his ashes will arise a glorious dawn of darkness. Makuta, Master of Shadows, Lord of Darkness, Born of the Void, hurls his spirit like a wave of violence at Tahu's shadow half. Tahu's mind shatters. Victory is his. ~ Bursting into the terrible calm inside the storm stride two figures filled with purpose, one a beacon of brightness, the other a wellspring of life. Gali stops her rush, and Takanuva halts, shadows melting amid his vibrant glow. Tahu is there, prone on the ground, a quivering, smoking mess of acid and sparks. Gali can feel a thrumming heat in the air, and to her shock it is him, readying to call upon his ultimate power. He will vaporize everything. Tahu is also their, standing next to the other Tahu, flame and shadow writhing over his dark form. His twisted smile of triumph fades and is replaced with a grimace. Takanuva does not give Shadow Tahu time to react as he flings a solid wall of light between the two Tahus. "You are not my brother." Makuta grins and his voice spills forth out of Shadow Tahu's mouth. "Have you come for a rematch Toa of Light? Come to me and be complete in the Shadow." The Storm quivers as if struck by a mighty hand. Makuta purses his lips as if in concentration. Gali walks forward with confidence even as her allies dimly appear out of the storm. Makuta gasps as ripples of power knock him down. The Storm is blown apart like leaves in a gale. Artakha jogs out of the mist and the stars glimmer and extinguish the black darkness. Miserix roars, and the storm scatters. Tuyet blasts into view, a whirlpool of water rotating with power around her. Brutaka nears, and chaos melts before him, only to spring back with a new purpose and target, the Master of Shadows. They near, and Makuta lashes out with everything. Artahka struggles against solid blackness while Miserix seemingly flips out of control and lashes out with a multitude of destructive powers, striking and destroying nothing but phantasms created in his mind. Tuyet buckles under unseen strain, and a bolt of fire hits her square in the chest. She goes down. Before Brutaka can charge, a killing blow in his deadly eyes, Gali desperately raises her hand to stop him. Makuta looks at her with hate filled eyes. Urgency fills her voice. Light Tahu nears full power in his half conscience fetal position, and when he reaches the top, the resulting blast of fire will end them all. "Be gone Makuta. Go to the Void that you love. Tahu! Hear me! You know what to do! Take hold of yourself! Don't give up and throw everything away! Unity! Duty! Destiny!" Makuta and Tahu snarl, but in Tahu's eyes is recognition. And defeat. He cannot summon the strength. Gali acts in the only way she knows how. In a second, two spheres of silver water, glowing like twin moons, appear in her hands. Her body vibrates, then she casts the spheres forward. She promptly collapses in a frail heap as tremendous energy leaves her. Makuta shrieks as both Tahu's are hit with a sphere each. Creation stills. ~ "I will . . . be rid of you, once and for all!" cries Tahu inwardly as healing water seeps into his body. His spirit soars, his body burns away the poisons in his system. Makuta screams in agony as Shadow Tahu sizzles with steam, his evil grip loosening. The two Tahu's gaze at one another, one dark, one light. Tahu smiles and beckons as he regains a shaky composure on his wobbly legs. It is over. Shadow Tahu does not have time to protest as he dissolves with a shriek into black soot and whooshes back into Tahu, pelting him with black sludge. The shock of being whole again floors him and he fights the urge to slip into comforting nothingness. His last sight beholds a twisted and smoky little form of ugly slime and shadow left in the place of his alter-ego. Six mighty warriors surround it. Feverish red eyes briefly glance into Tahu's soul from that hideous spirit. Pain. Fury. Defeat. No regret. A lifetime flashing in it's old and sickly gaze. It glances at the sky and curses a word Tahu can barely make out. Mata Nui. A tremendous flash consumes the last of his vision, and Makuta is no more. Victory. Content. Peace finally enters and quenches his soul like a pleasing rain, like a cozy warmth. He is whole. He is Tahu, Fire that burned against the Void. A comforting hand is laid over him, and he knows nothing more as sleep takes him. ~Fin~ (Takes a breath) Yeah well . . . I tried haha. My first little story (bows formally). Anyway, my logic for this story could almost kinda sorta fit into canon almost . . . This whole thing takes place . . . oh . . . a week to a month after Bionicles official ending. When starting, I asked myself, "Gee. I wonder what it was like for Tahu to suddenly get slammed with 40 + powers and abilities after zapping the Rahkshi." Thus my story was born. Would Tahu be adversely affected with the new powers? Acid? Shadow? All the rest? What about Makuta? What if through some complicated mumbo jumbo, Makuta survived the Moon Hit and Tahu drew his spirit like a moth to flame? So yeah. Lot of hypotheticals. And don't get me started on how Artakha and the rest could be around after Velika's finger was about to press the Big Boom of Death Button But Bionicle Ended So We Can't Know The Fate of All those Beings In That Room With Vezon. The horror. So I had to improvise. Oh well. I enjoy writing, and I hoped you liked the read. (edit) I mistakingly referred to Takanuva as Toa of Twilight, and such is not the case at this present time. The error has been corrected.
  8. Summer, a time of relaxation, peace, and beauty. Right? Wrong. Ventus trudged through the sweltering jungles of Voya-Nui. He hated this mission so much that he considered going rogue from the Order of Mata Nui, he knew he would hate it, but he wanted an excuse, any excuse to get away from maintenance back at headquarters. The temperature was easily an uncomfortable 100 degrees, the bugs were buzzing all around him as if they knew that he was very frustrated with his task at hand and wanted to annoy him even more, and he had lost a week's worth of civilized food to Brakas. "Right now, I wish I had a mask of Rahi control instead of reanimation. Who would want to ever reanimate these spawns of Makuta." Ventus said as he swatted at a group of bugs swarming around his face. His mission was simple, or so he had been told personally by Helryx. He was to land ashore on Voya-Nui and find Axxon, Umbra, and Brutaka to check on the status of the legendary Ignika, for Turaga Nuju was worried about the universe coming to an end because a few stars went out. "What a bunch of Kane-Ra dung." Ventus said "Why would the universe end just because a few stars die? Stars are supposed to die, they're created, they burn, they die, just like everything else. Ventus was supposed to land on the east side of the continent, but due to a random patrol of Dark Hunters, he had to re-rout his course to avoid them, and instead ended up on the north end of Voya-Nui. Where he fell out of his boat into the bay and climbed up the wintery beach cold and wet. After barely surviving the night, Ventus journeyed into the acursed jungles of Voya-Nui, got lost, and slept in a tree for a night, only to wake up to Brakas claw marks on his pack and that his food was missing. Despite being a Toa of air, Ventus despised the jungle. It was hot, wet, and buggy. Ventus hated a lot of things, but the core things that he hated the most were bugs, water, and Makuta. Everything else was somewhat better to an extent. Ventus started to get hungry after several hours of hiking and climbing, so he made a simple trap and waited for a Lava Hawk or something to get caught. One hour passed, nothing. Two hours passed, Ventus went to look for some fruit and returned to nothing. Three hours passed, a Taku landed near the trap and checked it out, but Ventus sneezed and it flew away. Ventus decided that trapping was far too frustrating and decided to find something and kill it himself. He got up, took his trap down, and went on a hunt. After half an hour of walking, he found a Muaka cat and began stalking it. When it moved, Ventus moved, when it stopped, Ventus stopped, when it looked around, Ventus hid. He stalked the cat for some time before he found a suitable place to ambush it; a cliff. He activated his two katana, and prepared to pounce. But just as he was about to, the Muaka had begun to struggle; it couldn't move! Ventus jumped on the opportunity and left out of the foliage. But something else had a taste for Muaka, a Dagger Spider crawled out of a large crevice in the cliff side and moved down its invisible web, where is imprisoned the Muaka in a cocoon. Unfortunately for Ventus, the Dagger Spider noticed that there was another life form in its presence and moved towards Ventus with alarming speed; fangs barred and hissing. Ventus hated all bugs, but spiders were what he hated the most from that category. The Dagger Spider was large, and its venom paralyzed, gave long, sharp pains to the body for ten minutes, and then killed. The spider propelled itself at Ventus from five feet away with its powerful hind legs and prepared to sink its teeth into Ventus. But Ventus dodged the attack and shoved both of his katana into the Dagger Spider from behind and mortally wounded it. Ventus then went over to the cocooned Muaka and sliced the cocoon open. Two things spilled out: the skeleton of a Muaka cat and hundreds of newly-hatched Dagger Spiders. Ventus ran and hid, hoping that they would not find him, but Dagger spiders preferred food that they thought would not put up much of a fight. So instead they scurried over to their wounded mother, crawled into her flesh through the wounda that Ventus' katana had made, and cannibilised the larger Dagger Spider from the inside out. It was a gruesome spectacle, but Ventus watched anyways. Not much eased him more than watching his enemies die. Especially those who stole his dinner. Ventus ignored the pangs of hunger that felt like they were stabbing his stomach and pioneered onward through the jungle, stopping for a short rest at a pond every now and then to take a sip of water. After three days in the jungle, Ventus emerged, tired, hungry, and angry. He felt like the world was against him this week and wanted to do everything it could to make his life worse. Especially since he found himself in a desolate ocean of sand. But one thing lifted Ventus' spirits; the volcano where he was supposed to meet with Axxon, Brutaka, and Umbra was in view now, and not more than a day away. Ventus hiked for hours towards the volcano relentlessly with nothing but sand and rock around him for miles. At twilight, he set up camp and rested for the night. While Ventus slept, he dreamt about what he would do next. He had been offered a large sum of widgets for taking on this mission, and he wondered about what he would buy with them. A boat? A hover bike? A vacationhome on some remote island? All of these ideas pleased Ventus. His dream of his perfect life with no worries, living in a mansion on a remote tropical island with half a dozen Ga-Matoran servants taking care of his every need, was reaching its climax when it took a turn for the worse. His mansion crumbled, a fierce hurricane like no other ravaged the tropical island until nothing remained but debris, and his servants transformed into terrifying Makuta that resembled bugs and bats. Suddenly, it all stopped. Everything disappeared. Ventus was surrounded by darkness. He saw the fabled Ignika change color from silver to black. He saw stars going out. He saw islands crumble. He watched planets freeze and die. The universe that he floated in had become a dark place of death, and apparently his mind thought that it was time for Ventus to join that universe. Ventus watched himself choke, die, and shrivel into nothing. Ventus woke up in a cold sweat, terrified. He stayed awake for several hours, looking up at the heavens. Wondering if what he had seen in his dream would become reality. Not wanting to think about it, Ventus dismissed what he had seen as just a dream and went back to sleep. This time, Ventus dreamt of traveling. He traveled across the planet to various islands and locations, he found beauty in them, and wanted to stay until the end of time. But he was forced to keep moving. Eventually he travelled into space and across two more planets. One was a lush, beautiful jungle world, the other was a desolate wasteland. He travelled farther into space and saw the three virtues: Unity, Duty, and Destiny. What he saw next was the Ignika changing from silver to gold, a Toa-like figure donning the Ignika, a large cavern, a mysterious swamp, an explosion, and a huge robot emerging from the sea. A deep voice spoke from nowhere and everywhere. "Destiny." It said. Ventus woke once more, but in a much calmer manner. He gazed into the distance toward the great volcano that loomed on the horizon. Today Ventus was going to finish his mission. He packed his things and continued his trek. He walked in silence, Thinking about the two dreams he had. One was about death, the other was about life. Were they visions? If so, what did they mean? What did the voice mean when it said "Destiny"? Ventus had so many questions. Ventus decided that he was going to consult Keetongu, a close friend of his, about these and see what he thought of the dreams. But for now, he was going to store the dreams and questions in a corner of his mind. After a long day of hiking through the dessert of Voya-Nui, Ventus arrived at his destination: the volcano. It was a majestic sight, and Ventus decided to change his view of Voya-Nui, for he decided that it was not that bad of a place at all. Now where were the three other Order members that were supposed to meet with him? Ventus tried calling their names, but nobody responded. So he decided to look around for them. After an hour of searching, Ventus gave up and sat down on a rock.. If the other Order members were too busy admiring the scenery to meet with him, he wouldn't worry about looking for them. "You're a long way from home, Toa." A voice hissed from behind Ventus. Ventus whirled around to find a cloud of protodites descending onto the ground. Instinctively, he drew and activated his katana. "Hey, I don't want to hurt you, I just want to chat." The protodites hissed. "You speak as if you are one person." Ventus said suspiciously "Why?" "Because we are one person." The protodites hissed as they took the shape of a green Skakdi. "How did you do that?" Ventus asked with amazement. "The same way that I can do this." The protodites said as they reshaped themselves into a copy of Ventus. All Ventus could do was stare at what looked like himself with awe. "So." The protodites construction on Ventus said "Where are we from? What are we doing here?" Ventus responded with the same answer that he had told dozens of people. "I'm afraid that's classified." He said. "Fine, if you won't tell me where you're from or what you're doing here, then I guess you have no further use to me." The protodites said with disappointment. Ventus knew what that meant and drew his katana, but before he could activate them, the protodites consumed them and proceeded to consume Ventus. Ventus screamed out in agony as his mask cracked and fell onto the ground with some armor and fluids drained out of his body. The protodites stopped swarming once all that was left of Ventus were his head, his torso, and an arm. "Before I kill you" The protodites said "I want you to know my name." They hissed the word "Zaktan" and began descending onto Ventus once more. But before they could kill Ventus, a figure appeared out of nowhere, bearing the legendary Kanohi Vahi, the mask of time. The figure scooped Ventus' body up and disappeared with him. Zaktan formed himself out of the protodites, sighed, and walked away. But in a laboratory on another planet, the Great Being who rescued Ventus was affixing mechanical arms and legs onto him, adding layer upon layer of armor, and finally, a helmet. Throughout the operation, Ventus screamed. It hurt more than the protodites devouring him. "There you are." The Great Being said to Ventus "Please, be still. I saved you from death, and ask one thing of you." "What is that?" Ventus said in a voice that was not his own after he had calmed down as much as possible. "That if it is necessary, you eliminate all Toa." The Great Being said. "How can I kill my own kind?" Ventus asked. "You are no longer a Toa. Your elemental powers have been stripped from you, and you are more machine that biological." The Great Being said. "If I am no longer a Toa, then I do not deserve the name Ventus." Ventus said. "Then what would you like to call yourself?" The Great Being asked. Ventus thought hard. After ten long minutes, he decided. "Marendar." He said. "Very well then, Marendar, I hope that it does not come to you needing to kill Toa, but it is your destiny. Now sleep." The Great Being said. Ventus, now Marendar, began his long sleep, waiting to be reawakened. The Great Being then attached a long cord to the back of Marendar's head and walked over to a computer. He spoke one phrase: "Download and delete memory banks." Marendar slowly began losing his memories and dreams, and soon after, had them replaced with his name and one prime directive: to eliminate all Toa if they attain too much power. -Meanwhile in another time and on another planet entirely- "Has the vision-seer been terminated?" Helryx asked as a Matoran walked into her office. The Matoran nodded. "Dismissed." Helryx said with a slight tremble in her voice at the end. The Matoran walked out. Helryx deactivated surveillance in her office, locked it, and soundproofed it. Helryx then began weeping uncontrollably, for she had ordered the death of one of her closest friends, reminding herself that it needed to be done, that he held extremely sensitive information in his mind and that she could not let this information become a security threat. But she would never live down the fact that she had essentially murdered one of the few Toa that she could call a friend. --------------------------------------------- Thank you all for reading!
  9. Hello, there! I believe I am slightly confused about the concept of 'destiny' in the BIONICLE Universe. If I am allowed to ask, I would like to make some queries regarding this concept. Firstly, are most (if not all) actions in the universe predetermined by someone's destiny? If so, would free will (even by technicality) exist? Say for example, Takua once played a game of Kolhii immediately after finding the Ahvokii. Was this by his own accord of not wanting to forfeit the match, or was this because his destiny ultimately required something that would cause him to ultimately put on the mask? In the 'Melding' universe, a person was transformed into a Trident upon contact with liquidised Protodermis. Was this because their destiny was to become a Trident, or because that trident would eventually be used in some large event? Can someone have multiple destinies? Some Matoran are destined to become Toa, and certain Toa teams have destinies of their own afterwards. When that Toa fulfills their destiny, they become Turaga. Do Turaga have destinies? I'm sorry if I sound heartless, but what is the purpose of some if they lack destiny? Kopaka contemplated about becoming a Turaga, or settling down. Now that the Toa Mahri have brought Mata Nui back to life, are they allowed to become Turaga? Judging from the universe seen in 'The Kingdom', Toa can fail in their destinies. If so, are they unable to become Turaga? Do they have a new destiny afterwards? Takanuva's destiny was to defeat the Brotherhood of Makuta, but seeing as they all died during the Storms in Karda Nui, what will become of him? If a Toa gives in to the effects of the Hordika, then shall they gain a new destiny? Other beings have destinies, as evidenced by the effects of the Liquidised Protodetmis. However, do they undergo some metamorphism similar to that of the Matoran and Toa if they complete their destinies? Do they have destinies, or are their destinies derived from being submerged in the Liquidised Protodermis? I'm sorry for asking too many questions, but what exactly IS Destiny? Is it merely a concept created by the Great Beings? Do the Great Beings control Destiny? Does Destiny extend to all beings in the universe? Does anyone control or decide Destiny? Or is Destiny merely another term for Purpose? If so, wouldn't the more correct term for some statements be Duty (as in, 'Matoro's Duty was to wear the mask of life)? Sorry for my boundless ignorance and stupidity, but I am genuinely curious. Thank you all very much in advance for your help!

  11. I just found some leaked information on Bungie's Project Destiny game from Wired, which lead me to a nice video on IGN, and the information was confirmed by Bungie to be accurate as well. Here are the details.Plot (Paraphrased quote)It is 700 years into the future on the last city on Earth in a solar system littered with the remains of man's golden age. A massive alien ship hangs overhead like a second moon, no one knows where it came from or why it's here, only that it's "our protector". Meanwhile, another alien race comes from "the edges of the universe" to come and take earth and the last city. "We are young knights, tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters, and eventually overcome it." The massive alien ship is referred to as "The Traveler".Bungie is making the game to be fun and accessible to all, "aiming to make the universe as deep, tangible, and relateable as that of the Star Wars franchise". Jason Jones (Bungie's Co-Founder) said: "Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure."GameplayDescribed as "social at it's core, offering a world to explore with friends both old and new." Though we are still not 100% certain if the game is an MMO (as statement Bungie later called "a joke").Release InformationAlong with a Destiny Logo, there were also Xbox 360 and PS3 Icons, there is also a url for "Destiny.com" which is currently password protected.Leaked Court documents talked about 4 installments in the Destiny series, with the released dates planned to be:Fall 2013201520172019In 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020, DLC known now as "Comet" are said to be planned. The contract also said that the first game would be released on Xbox 360 and it's successor (the contract calls it the Xbox 720), releases on PS3, PS4, and PC are said to be planned in the years following.Concept Art.Destiny LogoThe Traveler and the CityThe New MonstersThe KnightsAn Derelict BuildingThe Traveler In OrbitAnother Shot Of The Traveler In OrbitMore Derelict BuildingsA Massive WallKnights In A Force-Field Or SortsAnother Knight Giving CommandsA Space FleetSome Knights Ambushing The New Monsters.Other Bungie NewsBungie's contract also mentioned that it is allowed to put 5% of their workforce towards another Marathon game, I certainly find that idea exciting as a fan of that series.
  12. All things seem to be ran by Unity, Duty, and Destiny, but what happens when Unity breaks, Duty fails, and Destiny falls? Behold, Age of Destiny There goes a prophecy, called the Age Of Destiny, in which a band of many persons will try to save their fractured universe... Or die trying. An exile, a warrior, a theif, and a philosopher.A student, a mage, a priest and a legend. All undone, all become one.Death and Life.Time and Space.Matter and Energy.Gravity and Mass.8 held by destiny8 holding power8 masks, of things greater then all. Chapter One: The first Four Philosopher (Rhasilon-Improved) Theif (Soran) Mage (Axilus Prime Shadow (Rahsilon) I'll update this more eventually :/ Other info. This is a MAS. The only authors will be members of the UCS until further notice. Current authors are myself, Rahsilon (Facade), and Soran. Each author is also a PGS. We need at least 8 PGS's, to fulfill the prophecy. but by all means, we will take more. Now, unlike Rift, there is already a standard general plot, so we can jump right in. Current rotation is as follows:Me (Rahsilon/Facade)SoranAxilus Prime LerakuTerra NuvaReznas It's largely a quest/destiny based story. It will follow the journeys of a group of matoran, starting from before they meet, to the endeavors they have as a team. RZMIK and google images used.
  13. This is my first time posting in here, so here goes. I love to draw icons and symbols for stuff, and I've been toying around with the UDD symbol (I restructured my own version of it completely from scratch, along with the word "Bionicle") This is what I've got so far. Also, as you've probably noticed already, I like green and black combos As for the shape that sits inside the letter O, that's my insignia (I call it double-loop infinity, or III). Please give me some feedback about what you like/dislike, and what you think I should change or add?
  14. (Constructive criticism greatly appreciated)Entry One: My name is Vakama- I’m a Ta-Matoran mask-maker. Recently, Turaga Dume himself has tasked me with making a mask like no other-the Vahi, Mask of Time. Here I shall record my progress and methods that proved useful for completion. Failed trials will also be marked.FAILEDFAILEDFAILEDEntry Two: Used Ga-Metru teleport disk: power level 7 Used Ko-Metru regenerate disk: power level 8 Used Ta-Metru teleport disk: power level 6Notes: Not enough power, and the sequence is offFAILEDFAILEDFAILEDFAILEDFAILEDEntry Three: Used Ta-Metru enlarge disk: power level 8 Used Ga-Metru regenerate disk: power level 7 Used Po-Metru weaken disk: power level 8 Used Ko-Metru freeze disk: power level 7 Used Le-Metru teleport disk: power level 8 Used Onu-Metru reconstitute disk: power level 8Notes: The types are right, it seems-but they are too weak. Turaga Dume is getting impatient- I must keep working!FAILEDFAILEDFAILEDNotes: Today I heard a strange voice-but when I looked around, there was nobody there. I need to take it easy for a bit-the stress is getting to me.FAILEDEntry Four: I heard the voice again today-it is becoming clearer. If only I knew what it meant…FAILEDFAILEDFAILEDEntry Five: Today the city was attacked-yet Toa Lhikan could not save us all. I had always believed in the Toa-yet now I see them as the weaklings they are. No matter-the voice tells me that Lhikan will be of some use still…FAILEDEntry Six: I have learned that the only way to create the Vahi is through forging together the Great Disks. It shall be easy to convince that weak-minded Toa to retrieve them for me.Entry Seven: Lhikan has finally gathered the disks! Now I can start my masterwork…Note: The voice is getting fainter…Entry Eight: I have worked tirelessly on this mask… yet the voice seems to be dying…Entry Nine: Today I finished the Vahi. As I was about to put it on, the golden mask glowed-and rusted to a bright orange. Furious, I threw the mask on the floor, only to find a Toa-like figure watching me with piercing green eyes. The maskless Toa’s golden armor shimmered and slowly rusted as it placed the Vahi upon its face. Then, he spoke. “I have seen into your being, Vakama, and what you seek shall be forged through the hearts of many and through the sacrifice of oneself. Take care that your path does not stray.” As I stood there gaping, the figure collapsed upon itself, leaving behind a single disk etched with a carving of the most beautiful mask I had ever seen.Entry Ten: After pondering it for a while, I now know what I must do. I shall create the Mask of Being whatever the cost…Entry Eleven: I obtained my first heartstone today. All it took was some patience and a long knife. As I ground it up and placed it on the mask I shaped from the disk, it was absorbed. The mask is becoming stronger, but it needs more power…CONFIRMED KILLCONFIRMED KILLESCAPEESCAPEE KILLEDCONFIRMED KILLCONFIRMED KILLCONFIRMED KILLEntry Twelve: One of my victims escaped and notified the Turaga… but I got him in the end. Now all the mask needs is a sacrifice from myself. I shall remove my foot-I can always replace that.Entry Thirteen: THEY’RE COMING! I have to escape-I can’t let them get this mask-I can't... Note from Toa Lhikan:At the urging of the stars, I sought out Vakama, only to find him huddled in the deepest part of the archives with this book. It seems to be the ravings of a lunatic-and I have my doubts about giving Vakama a Toa Stone in light of this disturbing revelation. I can confirm that I retrieved the Great Disks for Vakama, and that many Matoran have been found with mangled chests… but I cannot believe Vakama would do such things. I must watch this one…
