    The Questions

What's the best CCBS set? What's the worst CCBS set? What G1 set displayed the best use of the old BIONICLE system? What G1 set displayed the old BIONICLE system at its worst? Transparent Orange Hau: good or bad? What enemies do you hope the Toa face in 2016? You are tasked with destroying the BIONICLE generation 1 universe in order to make way for generation 2. How do you do this? A volcano on Okoto erupts, covering the half of the island in ash. How does the island change? Okoto is not alone: it has a neighbouring landmass of unknown size. What populates this landmass and how hostile is it? Pit mutagen randomly leaks all over Okoto somehow. What changes Where did the Toa come from before crash-landing on Okoto from... somewhere?
  2. If they continue the undead enemy theme, we might end up with GHOST BONKLES. You know what that means: Glow-in-the-dark CCBS shells.
  3. So, as the tic title might suggest, I want to know if the return of Bionicle has brought out anyone's inner child. It certainly has for me, to an extent. The first thing I really noticed was when I was at the Lego store to pick up my first Bionicle 2015 sets, and was wondering what sets to buy. I had decided on Kopaka as soon as I saw his set images, but I had enough money for a second set, and was trying to decide what to get. Normally, my set picking instincts would have activated, and I would go for the one with the best price to piece value, but instead, I got a strong urge to completely ignore that, and ended up buying Pohatu, who arguably has the worst PTP value. It may sound stupid, but buying sets based purely on fun value isn't something I've done for a long time. Of course, what really made me notice my inner child coming out is the fact that I just spent ten minutes sitting in bed and swooshing Lewa G2 around while making flying noises and stupid commentary. It was inordinately engaging. So, has anyone else had any experiences like this, or am I just a crazed lunatic?
  4. I don't know if anyone has started a discussion on this or not (I didn't see one), but I am intrigued by the planets that have been showing up in the sky through various places; toy boxes, story videos, magazines, etc. From episode 1 on the website, there is a fresco or mural that seems to show the Masters descending from some sort of celestial bodies. Furthermore, these "planets" seem to have a similar color scheme to the Masters. Could this mean that there are more Toa-like or villager-like beings living on the planets? Perhaps the story will move beyond the confines of Okoto at some point. Along the same line, what relation do the skeletal villains we saw at NYC to the planets and/or toa? I'd be interested in anyone's thoughts.
  5. As we have come to the conclusion that the Skulls do not in fact have adrenaline modes, I'll make some up myself: Skull Warrior's adrenaline mode is riding its bow like a surfboard Skull Slicer's adrenaline mode is putting a 6-stud length axle between its arms to allow it to soar majestically like a Potoo to enable it to chase after Lewa Skull Scorpio turns its stinger into two separate wings, becoming a Skull Hornet instead of a scorpion and thus terrifying us all Skull Basher remains the same except for the bashing function being applied to the legs, allowing it to mock Pohatu with a kick function and remind him of his old days as a G1 Mata/Nuva Skull Grinder does nothing and consumes the mask of creation but because it's a skeleton it falls right through the nonexistent digestive system of Skull Grinder (SKELETONS DON'T HAVE ORGANS (BOTH THE BODY KIND AND THE MUSICAL KIND)) Ekimu's hammer turns into a unicycle, foreshadowing the Clown Invasion of Okoto in 2016. As a bonus, this happened in G1. Can someone remind me when this happened? I sure don't remember it.
  6. So, in this image (which I'm sure everybody has seen by now) one can clearly see that the new villain sets come with new dual-colored golden masks corresponding to the Masks of Earth, Ice, Jungle, and Stone. They're (more or less) clearly supposed to be worn by their respective Toa. But if so, then why do Kopaka, Onua, Lewa, and Pohatu get fancier masks, while Tahu and Gali don't get in on the new fashion trend? What are these new masks for? What advantage do these new masks have over their regular counterparts? Here are a few theories: - The new Masks are simply more powerful counterparts of their respective Elemental Masks. (i.e. New earth mask is more powerful than the Golden Mask of Earth.) (the boring theory) - The new Masks are Gen 2's version of infected Kanohi. (the least likely in my opinion, though I've heard people say it's the obvious answer to the question.) - The new Masks give the Toa control of more than one Element. (i.e. Onua gets Earth and Gravity, Pohatu gets Stone and Metal, (if you wanna go down that road.)) I'm drawing a big blank as to why Tahu and Gali won't be receiving such masks. (If they are indeed intended for the Toa) There's really not enough evidence at this point to speculate anything, but might as well. Any thoughts? other theories?
  7. What if The LEGO Movie sets were so successful we get a The LEGO Movie Movie? We would then get The LEGO Movie Movie sets. Why were Mata Nui and Makuta the main protagonist and main antagonist of 2010 respectively, yet neither got a set that year? We totally should have seen more 'special' canister sets in the later years, like the Hagah. I constantly imagine the early Toa Mata having their gear functions turned to the beat of some random music that only exists in my head. I found two drilldozer drills the other day and decided they'd make good hands, because who doesn't want drill hands? I saw a skull spider the other day. Horrible creatures. Skull Driller now exists. It has drills for hands. Why did the Hero Factory heroes have first names in 2010 that were then promptly never used again, except in 2011 when Fire Lord was like 'I KNOW YOU PREEESSSTOOONNN, I LOVED YOU; or something like that? If the Protector Gunthings have six slots for six studs, does that mean they evolve into Cordak Blasters given enough time? The clowns are coming for Okoto... and then for you. The Lord of Skull Spiders is actually a mutilated and twisted Toa, hence why it is not actually a true spider (it has six legs instead of eight). It is a mockery of both true spiders and those who would dare call themselves heroes. It guards the Ancient City out of spite for its former life. The Hero Factory and the planet or comet or whatever it was on got nuked by Von Nebula who is now called Von Nukula. He had the last laugh except for the part where the HF's higher staff and alpha team escaped to the other side of Okoto's planet and to set up a new Hero Factory, just as corrupt and evil as the previous one. Pohatu and the Protector of Stone are radioactive. This is why they are partly transparent neon green. Being around them slowly kills you. There are 'mindless' Okotoan villagers wandering around in the more rural, extreme, and deep zones of Okoto. They are mindless as a Skull Spider has taken control over them so long their mind has been erased away, leaving nothing but a mindless - and incredibly hostile - villager, that is if a skull spider is not on their face. If there is a Skull Spider on their face, then the Skull Spider's controlling the villager very easily. Due to the lack of a mind, the Skull Spiders have increased capabilities when taking control of these villagers. There is a Red Star above Okoto. There is also a Blue Star, a Green Star, a Brown Star, a Black Star and a White Star. It is rumoured that when Okoto has overcome all the trials it puts upon its inhabitants and defenders, that these stars will combine into one massive star, but not before being preceded by the most devastating events in Okoto's history. Due to this, some villagers of Okoto find it in their best interest to oppose the Toa reaching the Ancient City and awakening Ekimu or whatever they have to do there, and will go to any length to do so. The Inika masks were teleported up to the Red Star when the Inika became Mahri, thus preserving their lives, They now bicker endlessly. They crash landed on Okoto tomorrow, about five hours ago. Okoto does not lie on top of a giant robot's face. Speaking of that, it would be very weird if every time we went to sleep, a giant island sprouted up on top of our heads and then broke apart when we got up.Even more so if our blood cells spread out onto it... wow. Mata Nui... was BLEEDING all 2001-2003. Having an island rest on top of your face can't help. Makuta desired to eat the Toa's masks but was stopped by Ekimu, who teamed up with Mata Nui and also Oheropoafgelo, who is from generation 3 of BONKLE, the clown generation. They are the Clown of Earth.
  8. FLOW LIKE WATER Gali was exhausted. Her legs ached from swimming all day—which she had been doing for weeks now, following a figure she hardly knew. Her guide called herself the “Protector of Water,” and Gali didn’t even know how much she could be trusted—but this mysterious character seemed to know who she was and why she was here, which was more than Gali herself had any recollection of. “Not much farther now,” chided the elder, slowing to allow Gali to catch up. The less athletic Protector was propelled through the water by two large turbines affixed to her armor—handy, thought Gali resentfully as she looked down at the flippers extending from her own aching legs. “I don’t know if I can swim much farther,” Gali called through the expanse of seawater that separated them. The elder figure tut-tutted reproachfully. “Pathetic,” she muttered, just loud enough for Gali to hear. “There’s a cave up ahead,” the Protector called back, indicating a rock outcropping rising from the seabed in the distance. “We can stop there for the night.” Gali let out a groan. In truth, the cave wasn’t far, but after swimming for more than eight hours non-stop, it seemed like a mile. Gali collected herself and pushed forward once more, following her guide for one final stretch. O O O O O O O O O O O The cave was small, and dark—but not so small that it couldn’t accommodate two occupants, and not so dark that Gali couldn’t see once she got inside. Bioluminescent seaweed grew from the cave floor, illuminating Gali and the Protector of Water from below with an eerie glow. “You’ll be happy to know that this is the last leg of our journey,” said the Protector, with a smirk. “Tomorrow we should arrive at the Seabed Sanctuary where the Golden Mask of Water was hidden.” “And then what?” asked Gali. They had been traveling for weeks now, and she no longer had any concept of distance. How far were they from the Okoto mainland? Gali didn’t even want to think about it. “You wear it,” retorted the Protector, as if the answer couldn’t be more obvious. “And then, just maybe, that’ll be enough to make a proper Toa out of you!” Gali knelt beside the Protector. Despite her guide’s abrasive personality, Gali knew that this wise elder held the only clues to her identity. “You called me that before, when you first found me,” said Gali gently, hoping to smooth things over with her grouchy companion. “What does that mean? Toa?” The Protector let out a long, rumbling groan. Clearly Gali had said entirely the wrong thing. “Toa!” cried the Protector exasperatedly. “Heroes! Six warriors from the heavens, destined to save our island from the evil that threatens our very existence!” Gali slumped against the cave wall. “I don’t feel like a hero,” she admitted despondently. “You don’t act much like one, either!” snapped the Protector. “And yet… you have already performed one great act of heroism,” the Protector recalled, her face briefly softening. “Clearly you have hidden depths even you were unaware of.” Gali stared pensively at the weapon she held—a slender harpoon with a golden tip. She had been holding it when she first arrived on the outskirts of the Village of Water, but she had no memories of where it had come from, or for that matter, where she had come from. She couldn’t recall anything from before her arrival on Okoto, not even her own identity. She slowly twirled the harpoon in front of her in a wide arc. No matter which angle she looked at it from, it seemed alien to her—yet when the Skull Spiders attacked shortly after she awakened in this foreign place, she had wielded it deftly, as if guided purely by instinct. “If we don’t reach the mask soon it might be the depth of us both” she muttered, after a long silence. She looked up at the Protector of Water, who looked back at her with a puzzled stare. “You know…” explained Gali, “depth… death…” The Protector’s eyes narrowed sharply, in a mixture of anger and shock.” “Sorry,” said Gali, feeling a bit flustered at her pun’s poor reception. “I thought I’d make a joke... you know… to lighten the mood.” She sighed and stared at the seabed beneath her feet. “I don’t know how you expect to lighten the mood with talk of death!” cried the Protector. It was clear that of all the wrong things Gali had said to her guide, this was the most wrong. The Protector of Water was actually quaking. It’s more than anger this time, observed Gali, worriedly. I must have struck a nerve. “I’m sorry!” exclaimed Gali, anxiously. She was worried that she might have done it this time—that her new companion would just leave her here with no idea who she was or who she was meant to be. But the Protector just staggered, collapsing to the floor of the cave. She was drawing breath from the water in a rapid and unsteady rhythm—like a particularly bad case of the hiccups. Or… tears? It was hard to tell when both of them were already submerged in the water. Gali hesitantly extended her arm toward the elder, who had never before seemed more frail. “I didn’t ask for this,” sobbed the Protector. “Defending a dying village from a swarm of monsters that never seems to stop growing. Trying to keep my people from turning against one another in their desperation.” She let out a loud honking sound and a dribble of mucus fell from behind her mask before being dissolved by the briny saltwater. “My father…he was the previous Protector of Water, and he was proud of it. Times weren’t great even then, but he was always a source of stability for us all—never faltering, always faithful. He kept our hopes up with tales of the Toa—legendary heroes, summoned by our ancestors, who would someday arrive to save us all! But before I knew it... he was gone, and I was left alone to figure out just how he managed!” The Protector gasped for breath again, then gulped down a mouthful saltwater in a vain effort to regain composure. Gali was struck by the vulnerability that her guide must have been hiding all this time—not just from her, but from the other villagers. Everyone. “And I tried. I tried my best. But it was so hard to keep hope alive even when you can’t hold onto your own.” The Protector sniffled and looked into Gali’s eyes with an almost haunted expression. “And then you showed up. And for a minute my hopes reignited. This was it, I thought. Father was right. Only to find out that—that you were just as clueless as I was! And now I’m wondering if it’s even worth it. If I should just throw away my blaster and leave my people in exchange for the cold embrace of a Skull Spider.” The elder continued to stare into Gali’s eyes. Gali realized she was looking for answers—and that this time, she couldn’t afford to give the wrong one. “I think…” Gali paused to find the right words. “I think… you and I… we’re actually the same. A Protector… a Toa… neither of us chose our roles.” The Protector’s whimpering began to die down, as she listened intently to what Gali had to say. “You’ve been forcing yourself to try to be your father for so long,” Gali continued. “But I don’t think that works. If you try so hard to force yourself into a role that doesn’t fit you… you’ll break.” “Exactly!” cried the Protector, bitterly. “So what is there for me? What am I supposed to do?” Gali knelt in front of the seated elder and placed a hand gently on her shoulder. “You have to adapt to your own role,” she said. “It’s like... water, poured into a jug. It adapts to the shape it’s meant to fill… it feels out the nooks and crannies and empty spaces, but in the end, it fits.” Gali paused to allow what she’d said to sink in. “Tell me,” she said, hesitantly, “Who do you think you’re meant to be?” The Protector started sniffling again, and Gali worried for a minute that she had said the wrong thing again. “I think…” the elder sputtered, “I think… I’m meant to be right here—“ She paused to catch her breath, which had grown much steadier than it had been moments ago. “—with you. My father... he was a great Protector, but I think we need a new kind of Protector now—a mentor to a new generation of heroes. And you know what?” The Protector of Water looked up at Gali again, but this time, on the edges of her mask, Gali could almost see the hint of a smile. “I think you’ve just proven that you’ll make a fine Toa.” Gali was a bit taken aback. “That… that was just a pep talk,” stammered Gali. “I don’t think that has anything to do with fighting evil.” “It has everything to do with fighting evil!” insisted the Protector. “Mind you, you’ve already demonstrated that you have what it takes to hold your own in battle. But the real battle—it doesn’t take place on a battlefield. It takes place in minds. Evil can have a way of clawing its way into the hearts of good people—anyone, even heroes or leaders—and replacing their hope with doubts and hatred.” The elder grinned and jabbed her finger into Gali’s breastplate. “And you just proved that you can cut to the core of that and remind those people what they’re fighting for. That’s the true measure of a hero!” Gali couldn’t help but grin herself. This was what she had needed. She might not have learned who she was or where she came from, but she had learned something equally important. Her purpose. “Alright, Toa Gali,” said the Protector, lying down against the wall of the cave. “We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow. Let’s get some shut-eye. “Shore thing!” Gali replied cheerfully, stretching out against the opposite wall. “Oh, and Gali… one more thing?” “Yes?” Gali replied. “Please, for the love of all that is good… no more jokes.” THE END Author's Notes I make no claims to being a good author or even a decent one. I've never done much more than dabble in fanfiction. But the discussions about the Bionicle 2015 story—what's good, what's bad, what we're hoping for in books—made me realize that it's probably better to give fanfic a shot BEFORE I have actual prose stories to live up to. So when inspiration struck, I took advantage of it and whipped this out over the course of a single afternoon. I think one of the most compelling things about the new story is how the Toa are still developing as characters. They're more than just archetypes—the new Toa are people, with their own strengths and weaknesses. The Toa's amnesia provides a perfect excuse for a deep exploration of that—and more broadly, about the struggle to both define and come to terms with one's own identity. The Protector of Water was a blank slate to work with as a character, and a lot of her characterization was developed as I was writing. Mostly, I was trying to create a character who was not Nokama—someone whose personality actively clashed with Gali's, rather than just generally being like an older, wiser version of the same character. I tried not to base her on any one character in particular, but intentionally or unintentionally, she ended up taking a lot of cues from Toph Beifong from Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra. It's entirely possible that the Protector of Water will get different characterization in later books or story media—but hey, I'm not going to complain about more canon characterization for the Protectors. Anyway, thoughts? Opinions? I hope that at the very least someone will enjoy what I've written, regardless of the story's overall quality.
  9. After an immeasurably long hiatus from the MOCing world, I present to thee, Hewkii Mahri - Master of Stone! ~|ET|~
  10. I'm sure that someone has probably picked up on this already, but the fact that the Masks of Creation, Control, and Ultimate Power have little pedestals dedicated to them sparked my interest. Why do they have pedestals? Who built them? I have a theory. The Protectors Hid Them Away The Protectors are obviously Turaga figures in the Generation 2 story, and they seem like the kinds of elders that know pretty much everything. So, I propose that the Protectors found two masks in Ekimu and Makuta's abandoned forge, and found Ekimu's body and the Mask of Ultimate Power nearby. They later kept their location secret to protect the villagers. If the Protectors are so loyal to the Prophecy of Heroes (which details the threat of the Skull Spiders), they would have hidden the immensely powerful masks away from anyone who isn't a destined hero. I have potential evidence from the Prophecy of Heroes story episode: "On the mythical island of Okoto, ancient masks were hidden away, for only the strongest to find and claim." Notice how the sentence states that the masks were hidden away, not lost. Another thing of note would be that only the strongest are to claim them, which is definitely referring to the Toa. The Turaga of G1 even did this. They scattered the Toa Stones all over the island of Mata Nui for Takua to find and summon the Toa with. Let me know what you think of this. Sure, this isn't groundbreaking news, but it's a little something.
  11. Skull Spiders are not native to Okoto. Nor are they native to the planet Okoto is on. They are extra-terrestrial, coming from elsewhere. The Mask of Skull Spiders was forged by Makuta after their arrival. The fire village is constantly on fire. This is a problem. Currently, the fire villagers have to live and scavenge through the volcanic wastes of... the Fire Region This region, the region of fire, is also rich in Obsidian. Obsidian is now a material in G2 as it is IRL. It is used for stuff. Also, there are fire tornadoes sometimes. The water village is technically underwater, but surrounded by giant air bubbles. Natural air bubbles. Life has adapted to these air bubbles in weird ways. In the watery part of the watery region, which is known as the water region, there is a very deep sea trench for some reason and nobody knows why. Ekimu once dived down there and came back with some gold and a missing armour piece, along with declaring that they would never go down there again. The earth village is underground. Above ground, it's far too dangerous for the villagers, as the only things on the surface are barren mesas, inhabited by only the harshest wildlife. Few villagers live on the surface. Instead most live underground, as beneath these mesas lies the largest cave network in all of Okoto. Most of the caves are under the mesas, although some extend under the mountains of the island, which means that some of the caves have openings in the fire and ice regions as well as extending under them. In the fire region's portion of the caves, there's a lava problem. In the ice region's caves, it's extremely cold. Villagers never venture far from the centre of the network of the caves, which is where the Earth village is located. There's also the problem that the deeper and further you get away from the Earth village, the more dangerous and unknown the wildlife becomes. Not to mention the drops, the openings, the lava, and sometimes the remains of ancient villages under the same curse as the ancient city. That is... the dead still lie in wait. Waiting to be disturbed. Every now and then a curious villager stumbles upon them, and if they survive the ordeal of the undead, they must report the cave so that it can be... caved in. The jungle village is in the trees of the jungle region. This is because the surface is far too hostile. Even simply walking on the surface is enough to disturb the jungle. Thus, the jungle village has to be up in the understory and canopy of the jungle, out of necessity. Much less of the dangerous wildlife can get to the jungle villagers when it's like that. Why is it not the surface? It's dangerous because some of the plants kill. There are tales of foolish villagers stupid enough to put their hands in some monstrously sized plants, and then being unable to take their hand off the plant - the plant's laves were sticky. Then the leaves closed around the villager. Then it slowly killed the villager. And that's only the tamest of the plants that can kill villagers - some can move ever so slightly, somehow. Not even Skull Spiders dare to go near the following plant: a plant that can blend in with others so well that it looks like a bunch of flowers. Then it entices a villager or two. Then the ruse is dropped, as the 'flowers' move away to reveal a giant pitcher (as in a pitcher plant) that the villagers then fall down into, which is nigh unescapable unless you have somehow learnt to fly... which is something most jungle villagers can't do, especially not when their feet has already been digested by the plant. The jungle region has by far the most dangerous plants, basically. The ice village is in the southern and lower part of the ice region, close to the border with the water region. The reason is that it is far more hospitable here than anywhere else in the ice region. North of the mountains would be too cold for normal life. Plus, there are lakes nearby for fishing, which is integral to the lives of the ice villagers. The northern part of the region, north of the regions, is almost completely uninhabited, and some of has in fact never been charted on a map - it's far too cold for anyone except a master of the ice. What lurks here? Nobody knows, except some explorers have reported what apparently looks like a hulking mass of snow with a very bestial gait. The stone village is located in the stone region, just south of where Ekimu and Makuta were originally sent to their eternal sleep, and on the coast. The stone region is basically a desert, although like the Earth region it has some mesas, mostly in the southern part of the stone region. The stone region, as a whole, is more hospitable above ground than the earth region, although the earth region has some of the worst wildlife on the island. That doesn't mean the stone region doesn't have any dangers, it's home to several kinds of scorpion, ranging from tiny and harmless to larger than three villagers put together and ready to crush anything that moves, even other scorpions. There's also giant worms of several kinds. Some are harmless, some are not, with the strength to rip off the limbs of an unfortunate villager. There's rumours of a worm so large it disturbs the sand around it and sends villagers back by simply burrowing along. There are also sights of 'beings with stinger tails' in the central areas of the stone region. Most write them off as but a legend, as very few ever visit the centre of the stone region due to the heat. But some say that these beings appear to have some semblance of intelligence, and dub these unknown beings 'Vorox' as they believe they can be communicated with. In the centre of Okoto, there is the ancient city. Protectors lived here once, guarded by Toa. But not the Toa we know. Six OTHER Toa. These Toa questioned why they had to protect the villagers when the villagers were sort of capable of doing it themselves - after all, each village had a protector, so why should a Toa do it? These Toa, like the six we know, simply appeared one day without warning. They did not have to go through trials to get their golden masks. They did not even have them, in fact. One day they started slaughtering Villagers, tired of being made to protect them. This is where Ekimu and Makuta started being revered: Ekimu and Makuta, as Protectors of Water and Earth respectively, conjured up a plan to defeat the Toa, which worked. The Toa were sealed away, but not killed, by virtue of the Mask of Creation and Mask of Control, which were forged to deal with them. The Mask of Control allowed Ekimu and Makuta to control the Toa, having them walk into a tomb which was immediately sealed with no way out, with a door made out of a supposedly unbreakable material, forged with the Mask of Creation by Ekimu. Ekimu and Makuta were then hailed as heroes. But. The Toa never died. They simply withered away. Their armour started to fall off. Their masks started to deform. Their faces transformed into skulls... but the eyes still glowed. Some of them even managed to change shape with this new form, almost as if it were making a mockery of what it meant to be a Toa once. With the combined powers of their masks and elements, these old Toa were able to curse the ancient city, and other abandoned villages on the island. This curse was to make all of the dead restless. Once one living being steps near the dead - the dead awaken. And eventually, these former Toa were able to tunnel out of their tomb, revealing their new forms: a skeletal archer, a skeletal basher, a skeletal scorpion, a skeletal four-armed slicey thing, a skeletal grinder. That's five... but where was the sixth? They were cannibalised by the other former Toa out of boredom - being trapped in a tomb for so long made them lose any thoughts that were not malevolent. Because their curse did not only raise the dead, it made them unable to think anything but malevolence. They also hold less power, and only the Mask of Creation can restore them to the power they once held - and beyond. This came from looking at the Okoto map.
  12. I wrote a fanfic? A BIONICLE fanfic!? I guess miracles do exist. Anyway, I didn't spend all that much time on this, so I'm not making any promises about quality. But feel free to head to the topic to check it out! Source: Flow Like Water
  13. Okay, so, from what has been presented to us so far, the Lord of Skull Spiders seems to control the horde using the Golden Mask of Skull Spiders. My question about it, aside from the obvious question of how on earth it even uses the mask without wearing it, is this: Why was the mask even made? Seriously, why would either Ekimu or Makuta make it? Were the Skull Spiders just being too pesky, and they thought the best way to take care of it was mind control? On another note, HOW did they make it? From what we know about them, they were only able to make elemental masks, and combining the elements was strictly forbidden. Are Skull Spiders an element now? Seriously, this is bugging me more than it probably should. Give me your take on it in the comments section below.
  14. What led me to start thinking this: much has been made of the “mythical” island of Okoto— but myths don’t take place in the far future, they take place in the far past; historical events have ascended through retelling over generations to the status of legends; we even have the same narrator through all the stories so far (without even different voice actors to give the impression of a currently occurring story) as if he is telling us a legend or myth of this sort. Are the 2015 toa the same heroes we know and love? Perhaps the Great Beings, familiar with the legend of Okoto and the events of the Gen II storyline, were inspired to create the Toa Mata as some of the GSR’s greatest heroes. Thus the conflict between the Toa and the Skull creatures we're experiencing now is an ancient legend of Spherus Magna that the Great Beings incorporate, in the form of the Toa Mata, into their creation. The appearance of the Vahi points to the importance of time to the story, but why does it have to be in the future of the Bionicle universe? It makes more sense to me that what we’re witnessing here in 2015 is literally a legend of Bionicle, an ancient story passed down through generations that will echo through the ages as it impacts and influences those that grow up with it. Does this mean the Protectors/villagers are Agori? Is Okoto located somewhere on Spherus Magna from the distant past? We may not get a direct answer to all these questions, as Lego may not want to make explicit links between Gen I and Gen II. I am confident that the Gen II storyline will be something that can be enjoyed entirely on its own, and will probably have no direct connection to Gen I (I wouldn’t go so far as to speculate time-traveling Gen I characters visiting Okoto, for instance), but I wouldn’t be surprised if this version of events is made known in some subtle way to fans to tie the two stories together. Thoughts? Any evidence for or against this idea I may have missed?
  15. Here's a simple one: The masks in G2 are easy to remember, because they are Mask of Fire, Mask of Ice, Golden Mask of Stone, Protector Mask of Earth etc. Basically (Variant) Mask of (Element). But wait. In all official media, the "green masks" are called Jungle Mask, Golden Jungle Mask and Protector Jungle Mask, contradicting the pattern. So what story reason do you think there may be for this inconsistent naming? Do you think there is a story reason? (Is it all the fault of a typo in the G2 story bible master copy? ) Personally, I am leaning towards thinking that it will be revealed in the future that "Jungle" isn't really the element at all. But what do you think?
  16. A lot of people have been posting their theories on how Bionicle G1 and G2 are connected in S&T, so I thought I'd share my own! Check out the topic!
  17. Am I the only one that thinks people are really exaggerating how easily 2015 masks fall of the new head? Seriously, they don't fall off that easily.
  18. I came across this post showing a picture of the new Gali comic. http://kallernuva.tumblr.com/post/107936376707/humans-are-canon-in-the-comics That sunken statue is clearly depicting a human, so humans must have been on Okoto at some point. But what do you think happened to them? Did they die out before the Prortectors arrived on the island? Or did they rebuild themselves into mechanical bodies and become the Protectors? Greg had previously said that humans would never be in Bionicle so this is a shocking development.

    Two questions

I'm curious to see what people think: Is it better to stick with a core group of characters (HF) for the entire duration of a theme, or is it better to constantly introduce new characters almost constantly (G1 BIONICLE)? What do you hope G2 BIONICLE does in terms of characters?
  20. Some of the secondary Toa elements in the original story were awesome (and would have made some cool sets), but others were redundant or over-powered. Lego will probably stick to the basic 6 elements for a while, but I could see some of the others working their way back in. Lightning: I see lighting/electricity as the most likely element to return. In Lego themes with elemental motifs, lightning is usually the blue element instead of water, as in Hero Factory and Ninjago. Plus, with water's main color now being the lighter azure, I can see mata blue being reserved for lightning. Iron: Iron/metal is another likely candidate to come back, as it has precedence with Bulk in Hero Factory. And we all know how Lego loves to slap silver and gunmetal onto every set it can. Since orange doesn't seem to be a main fire color anymore, maybe it and gunmetal could be used for iron? Sonics: Sonics/sound is less likely, but Hero Factory's Stringer did have sound-based abilities (even if he had a completely different color scheme). I could see sound users wielding instrument-like weapons, but I have no idea what their colors would be. Psionics: Psionics/mind is even more out there (and can be very overpowered) but I always thought it was cool. If we didn't get a Toa of mind, maybe a one-off villain with psychic abilities? It needs new colors though. I will suggest pale pink as one of them. Magnetism: Redundant with iron. I never liked this one being an official element. It's just psionics but for metal objects only. But I could see it as a power. Gravity: Too overpowered to be a whole element. Also, black and purple is now earth's color scheme. But I could see a villain with gravity-based abilities. Plasma: Redundant with fire. Plantlife: Technically canon, if only because it and air are the same element now. But that's just my opinion. What do you think? If these other elements had villages/regions, what would they look like? What kind of weapons would Toa of these elements wield? How would their abilities manifest?
