  1. What fan theory would perfectly unite Slizers (Throwbots), RoboRiders, BIONICLE (G1), Hero Factory, and BIONICLE (G2) into a singe cohesive story/universe?
  2. Now I'm pretty sure this topic reared its head in these forums, possibly even several times, but the search function didn't toss anything out and I'm also pretty sure all of those threads are beyond the necro threshold. So this is pretty simple: where in the Bionicle universe(s) would you live? I included G2's Okoto as well. While it wouldn't be my personal choice, I do see it being a possible selection for some fans. It is similar to Mata-Nui, true, however Okotoan architecture is pretty unique when compared to things in G1 so I see reason for it to be a legitimate choice. There are several more named islands in the GSR, however the poll only allows for 17 options. Feel free to write up why you chose what you chose, since this is supposed to be a discussion after all. For me, Metru Nui is the obvious choice. I've said as much on two occasions in two separate topics recently, as Metru Nui always fascinated me. The idea of a massive, technologically advanced city which is rooted in natural elements regardless (Po-Metru is a literal desert in spite of being part of a metropolis, Ga-Metru is beautiful with its lakes and lagunas) has always captivated my imagination. It was my favorite setting across all of G1 as well, precisely because of all the potential it had. That said, I was a tad disappointed when some years later, after reading up on official lore, that it is actually pretty small and only has about a thousand Matoran living in it (canonically, though others have mentioned how in LoMN, more are shown). In my headcanon, Metru-Nui will always remain the inconceivably massive sprawling sci-fi metropolis with countless millions of Matoran working, living, playing and resting among its skyscrapers. So which location would be your preferred home in the Bionicle universe?
  3. Here’s my entry to the Rebrick “Show Us Your Makuta” contest - Makuta: Brute of Shadow! This model features a swivelling waist and swinging arms, both controlled via the knobs on his back. Entry page (give it a like!)
  4. So, amid a ton of extremely impressive builds by MOCists on this site, this is my entry for the Makuta building contest on ReBrick. Backstory: In an alternate universe, upon realizing that Ekimu was the superior mask maker, Makuta, instead of creating the Mask of Ultimate Power, turned his efforts elsewhere. He left the City of the Mask Makers and travelled to the Region of Earth. However, instead of delving into its many tunnels, he remained on the unpopulated surface, and sought out the highest peak. To test his own resolve, he endeavored to hollow out the mountain with his bare hands. Such gruelling physical work greatly strengthened his skeletal structure and increased his muscle mass, leaving him significantly larger and taller than his former, feeble form. After setting up a forge in his new lair, he first created a large, sacred hammer with two silver faces. He then vowed to craft weapons instead of masks, and to forge without rest until one of the faces of his new hammer dulls so that it does not shine. He first created a large suit of armor, and weaved crystal with steel. He then forged weapons day and night, blades and hammers of the finest quality. While Ekimu was a master of decor and pomp, Makuta was practical. Instead of using gems and gold, he wrought iron and steel. Ekimu might make the most beautiful golden masks and glass shields, but his creations would shatter if met but Makuta's blades. Makuta replaced his Mask of Control with the last mask he ever created - the mask of Shadows. It was his last ditch effort to best his brother, by weaving the power of the shadows themselves into a mask, instead of relying on an element. While his previous masks were simply less popular, this creation caused true controversy. The people of Okoto petitioned him to destroy the mask. This was what tipped him to abandon the craft of Mask Making. Though he now bears the Mask of Shadows, he kept his old Mask of Control as a reminder. Whenever he desired rest, whenever he tired, he would look at it and forge on. Over the years, a few villagers, outcasts from their villages, happened upon his iron fortress. As kindred souls, they pledged themselves to the Weapon Maker. Makuta forged ever more, producing enough weapons to arm all the souls on Okoto twice over and still have many to spare. Each was unique, and entirely deadly. Eventually, the last sliver of silver was chipped off his hammer. This is when he knew that the time has come. Turning his hammer over to its untouched side, he declared that while the other face forged and crafted metal, this one shall taste bone and blood. With his group of well armed followers, Makuta strode forth from his iron fortress, and craved a warpath to the City of the Mask Makers. Those who stood in his way brandished the golden swords and elaborate gemstone armor made by Ekimu. Though their equipment looked impeccable, the tempered iron and steel weapons of Makuta tore through them with ease. Finally, at the gate of the city, Makuta challenged Ekimu to single combat. The Mask Maker emerged in his larger, light-infused form, however even that was not enough to stand against the sheer force of Makuta.Though his conquest was bloody, the reign of Emperor Makuta was not one of tyranny. He was a strong leader who punished those who deserved it with severity and cruelty, however his iron fist struck down all threats to his people. While during the time of Ekimu, the Okotoans valued the luxury and decor of decadence, under Makuta, progress and strength were considered greater virtues. It was not long before the armies of Okoto, armed with iron and steel, would set forth to conquer other lands beyond the sea... I tried to take an unconventional approach to building my Makuta. The vast majority of entries were black/gold/purple/red CCBS titans that were basically variations of the JtO Makuta build. Sure, there are a few more originals ones out there than mine, but I opted for an atypical color scheme for Makuta, as well as a different backstory. While the weapon-racks and anvil probably won't be taken into account by the judges, it felt good to add some decor that emphasised Makuta's transfer to the craft of weapon making. Including the fingers, the set has 21 points of articulation, plus two unused ones holding the blades on his back. The set uses no illegal connections, no cut or modified pieces or anything else out of order. 5. Quake Beast... easily the weakest of the three beasts, and the weakest of the entire summer wave. It looks awkward from the back and the side, only looking good from the front. The function isn't really that good, either - it's just swinging the crystal arm forward without much oomph. If you ask me - they should have used Skull Basher's function here instead of a gearbox. Also, the legs are only just barely supporting the body. Umarak the Destroyer - the largest single figure G2 is ever going to get. And the last. At least it's worthy of being called a titan. Neck looks a bit awkward from the side, but given that they haven't use the normal neck ball joint, that can probably be easily fixed. Legs aren't quite as bad as they look, they have a reasonable degree of forward-backward movement. Torso gears work fine and quite well. Like Storm Beast, the hands don't have their own ball joints and are more an extension of the forearm, but Umarak's hands are so huge that it would only make Umarak look a lot more awkward. Hands could do with a bit more friction, though, but they're fine as is. Definitely looks menacing compared to the Toa, even moreso than Umarak the Hunter. The Invasion from Below claw pieces - they really do look like Umarak's claws here. Though... across all the beasts, the jaw piece is just so bad. How do you make a jaw piece and not make it have obvious teeth? You can hardly see any teeth on the jaw piece, and I'd imagine it would be received a lot more kindly if it actually looked like a lower jaw with teeth - at the moment , it's kind of hard to imagine it as a lower jaw., And the eyestalk-mask-off mechanism thing: why couldn't the beasts' 'masks' be designed so that it makes the jaw close rather than shooting their masks off?
  6. Hello, peoples. This is Dallior, and I just watched NickonAquaMagna's wrap-up of Geetwo on Youtube, and felt guilty about being one of the fans who "sat on the sidelines and watched the story, but rarely bought the sets". Well, I want to fix my conscience by buying Bonkles. So, down below, tell me/the forums which Uniter pair is the best, which beast is best, and which Titan set is best. Thanks, and happy BZPing! NOTE: All participants will receive a fake Copper Huna of Victory.
  7. Hello, everyone! As we all know, G2 has sadly come to an end. In commemoration of the entire BIONICLE saga, I've decided to offer this series of two prints as my contribution to its legacy. Each print is 10 inches by 10 inches or 25.4 cm by 25.4 cm. They are printed on Kodak Endura Metallic and mounted on 50pt matboard. All prints are signed by the artist on the back for no extra charge. This Kodak paper is a favorite of mine- both because I'm from Kodak's home turf (Rochester, NY), and because of its incredible responsiveness to lighting changes. While they are mounted and fairly sturdy, you may also wish to frame them to protect the print. Each print is $15, unless you are buying the Generations Set. Payments should be made through Paypal. I will provide you with shipping costs once you give me your address. PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Prices: GENESIS (2001): $15 FOCUS (2016): $15 Both (GENERATIONS SET): $25 GENESIS: $15 USD Print One is a rendering of Tahu (2001)'s Hau, entitled GENESIS. (Photos of print) FOCUS: $15 USD Print Two is a rendering of Tahu (2016)'s Mask Of Fire, titled FOCUS (Photos of print) Q: What do they look like on a wall? Thank you for looking at my prints! -Haecceity
  8. “Vakama…” Vakama began to stir from the strange voice. In his half-awake state, he felt that, somehow, the voice was familiar to him. “Vakama, arise…” Mostly awake now, Vakama fumbled around on his mask, trying to find the switch for his filtration unit, mumbling subtle curses on whoever had mixed up and sent fumes from the Great Furnace into the air ducts to his living quarters a few months ago. Ready for the new day, disengaged the ventilation unit on his mask and took a deep breath… Which filled his lungs with the stasis fluid surrounding him. He panicked and flailed about, thinking he was drowning for a few moments in his unfamiliar surroundings before re-engaging his ventilation unit and accustoming himself to breathing the medicinal substance. He hurriedly felt around the darkened space he was in, noting the curved walls were indicative of a healing canister, though, with no transparent wall, it was clear this one was… different. As he passed his hands along the inside of the chamber, part of the surface gave way, emitting a bright red light, startling Vakama. To add to his confusion and panic, he soon found his canister being tipped over. Whatever was keeping the fluid locked in the canister suddenly gave way, as Vakama shortly found himself blinded by light, coughing up stasis gunk and feeling quite cold. “Wha-where…?” Vakama muttered to himself, trying to get his bearings from the large entryway that was once the top of his canister, though his view was mostly blocked by a figure posing, which he supposed was intended to look heroic. “Ah, another Toa to join in our ranks!” The figure looked backwards as another figure, larger and lopsided, walked forwards, looking into the canister as well. “Nokama says we look like Toa. That doesn’t mean we are…” The new figure absentmindedly rubbed his disproportionately large arm. After a few moments, he turned to Vakama and reached inside. “Come on, let’s get you out of here.” He hooked his large hand around Vakama’s body, pulling him out of the canister and setting him onto his own two feet. With his surroundings changed again, Vakama took some time to figure out where exactly he was. The ceiling was ribbed, with eight circular gaps in between each of the support struts. The walls were curved, dome-shaped, with circular portholes covering most of it. Stone and metal were melded together in such a way so that the piping seemed to grow straight from the sides. Underneath the gaps in the ceiling, the floor had raised sockets, most of which currently held canisters not unlike the one he just been pulled out of. Evidence of Stone, Iron, and Fire sector craftmanship. If he were to have to guess, based on what he read of history books, Vakama would have say… Tenth era, Krom-style architecture. Placing them in or around the Great City’s center. Try as he might, Vakama did not find a discernible exit. “Hey… is the new guy alright?” The bright light-stones embedded in the ceiling let him properly see the strangers around him. The first figure to appear at his canister was green in coloration, indicative of the Jungle sector. The mask he wore was slightly rectangular, and extended far over the top of his head. He was also not wearing any armor at all. Now that Vakama looked around, he realized no one was wearing armor, their organic components all exposed. That explains why he was feeling cold. “Uh… where’s my armor?” “Same place as mine, I suppose.” Mumbled the large, lopsided one. “We’re all as naked as the day we were built!” The green one exclaimed, a big, stupid smile plastered on his face. Vakama made a mental note to attempt to ignore the green one for the time being. What the big one said made sense. If they were all in medical canisters, surely someone had to have removed their armor so the stasis fluid could heal- or change- them however it needed to. “Well, uh, I suppose… introductions are in order?” The big one outstretched his larger hand to Vakama, before realizing his error and switching it for his smaller, normal-sized left hand. “I’m Whenua. I work… or, well, I think I still work in the archives.” Vakama, after a few misses, managed to shake his hand. “Vakama. Forge-work. Mostly disk and mask-making.” “Still trying to get used to the taller body, I see!” The green one jumped into the conversation. (Almost quite literally.) To Vakama’s dismay, Whenua stepped back from the two, letting him take center stage. “Took me a few tries, but I got the hang of it! I’m Matau, wise, resourceful, and ever-energetic!” Great. “That beautiful blue scholar over there is the lovely Nokama.“ She rolled her eyes, put on a smile, and waved to the two of them. Matau, of course, waved back, grin bigger than ever. “She was the first of us to wake up, followed by yours truly.” “The brown fellow sitting there with the I-am-really-annoyed-by-Matau-look on his face is Onewa!” Matau pointed to the final member of their odd company, “The icy guy in the corner hasn’t spoken one bit yet, but I’m gonna make him talk and be friendly if it’s the-” “Nuju.” “Uh. Okay… That’s Nuju! The cold, icy, and… slightly scary.” The aperture in Nuju’s eyepiece contracted, stared down the offending citizen of the jungle sector, then turned to Vakama. “Ingrown.” Vakama stared blankly, puzzled at the odd, seemingly random word. Nuju sighed. “Our old armor is now ingrown. Covered in new organic components.” He tapped his chest for emphasis. “We have been changed” Vakama let out a short laugh. “Well of course. But into what, exactly? I can’t exactly go home and try and act like nothing’s changed about me.” The room was silent. Apparently this hadn’t occurred to anyone else. That, or they didn’t want to think about it. “But, isn’t that a good thing?” Matau asked. His happy-go-lucky demeanor dropped like a stone. “Think about it. We’ve been given a chance. We’re Toa now, those fated to become heroes!” “Matau.” Nokama spoke. “I said we looked like Toa. Yes, most of us are the right build. But there are some… ” She paused, glancing at Whenua, then gesturing to the cansiters and the rest of the room. “…Differences from how we know Toa come to be. They are built as Toa, and die as Toa. They come from somewhere over the Great Ocean, and when they come, their numbers vary. But there are never six sent to any of the islands. Never six toa. The only group of six Toa will come from the stars!” Vakama nodded. Everyone had heard of The Prophecy of Ekimu. “Did we come from the stars? Or over the sea? Nuju, Onewa, and Whenua met each other before this! By our own admission, we were just Tekoans before… before whenever this happened.” “But, if we aren’t Toa,” Onewa began, standing up. “Why can I do this?” He clenched his fist and made a downwards pulling motion. With a rumbling, His seat was quickly pulled into the stone floor underneath them. He turned back to the shocked group. “The stones just… call to me. I somehow… knew I can control them. I don’t know how I knew… but I must have this ability for a reason, right? Toa have elemental powers, don’t they?” “Lhikan could control and create fire. Tuyet could form ice wherever she touched.” Vakama offered. He didn’t really pay much attention to what the Toa could do. Well, when they were still around. After they started vanishing, many people from the different sectors started trying to investigate the disappearances, though many who searched… well… “You could just be the only one of us who is a Toa.” Whenua mumbled. “Or I could be the only one who isn’t.” “But that still doesn’t account for how we were once Tekoans! Having powers could mean anything! Toa are built as Toa. You don’t become a Toa!” Nokama was clearly adamant on her stance. “Whatever we are, we are not Toa.” “…Who cares?” Matau asked, shrugging. “We look like Toa.” He pointed to Onewa. “He, at least, has the powers of a Toa. No one outside will ever know the difference. We can still be heroes!” Even Nokama paused at that one. He was right. Even if they weren’t Toa, they were given this opportunity, they could use it. “I found armor. And tools. Follow me.” The group was so embroiled in their argument, they didn’t even notice the quiet Nuju had slipped out of the room and returned. They followed him down a large and surprisingly cold corridor, with Whenua following close behind Nuju, and Vakama and Matau shivering in the back. Vakama seemed to be the most affected by the chill of the cavernous passage, and not being used to his new legs did not help him keep pace with those in front. Matau, on the other hand, lagged behind because he kept on tripping over rocks he couldn’t see, with every trip bringing a new line of curses. Vakama found he had never heard most of them before, and, judging from Onewa’s chuckles and Nokama’s glances of disapproval, were very, very profane. “How did you find the exit?” Nokama spoke up, drawing everyone’s attention away from Matau for the time being. “Secret mechanism.” Nuju pointed to Onewa. “His seat.” After many twists and turns, with multiple branches to the path going who knows where, it dawned on Vakama that there was no natural way Nuju had been able to take to this supposed armory. The only thing that made sense to him was that, somehow, the labyrinth had called to him. The tunnel had led them into a great room twice the size of the one they had woken up in. The same circular portholes lined the walls, carrying sets upon sets of armor, tools and weapons within them. The center was raised, circular in shape, with arches along its side, revealing that the interior was hollow. Walking up the steps jutting out from it revealed that the top of it was like a bowl, with a gutter leading off the other side into rectangular depressions in the floor. Surrounding it were seven smaller raised sections, flat and solid, with the eighth open at the top, their hexagonal shape jarring with the rest of the room, . They looked though the old sets of armor, each attempting to find a fitting set for themselves. It soon became apparent that only a few pieces of the available armor were compatible with their specific armor-plugs. The rest of the armor wasn’t even wearable, some pieces seemed to even be torn in two. They found shoulder plates, gauntlets and greaves that fit on most everyone, even Whenua found coverings for his massive arm. Vakama was the only one that found a fitting chest-piece for himself, with a vented bevor positioned just slightly above the center of his chest. The others were not so lucky. The light-stones in the walls burned a bright red-orange, illuminating the room like the furnaces Vakama had worked in all his life. He turned to the center of the room, recognizing the intended purpose of the raised portion. It was a furnace… and it was…calling to him. He pulled a forge-staff from one of the portholes, and, like in a trance, Vakama used the it as a lever to pull one of the light-stones from the wall, took it to the furnace, and smashed it. Flames licked up from the broken crystal, igniting the smelting furnace. “Come on, help me get this stuff into the top.” Vakama grunted, lifting rusted pieces and dumping them into the basin. The others, after some time and passing looks to each other, followed suit, picking up more and more, until Vakama gave the word. “Okay, I think that’s enough.” “Yeah, that’s great and all, fire-spitter, but enough for what?” Matau wheezed. Even Whenua looked tired from carrying all the junk pieces to the top. “Armor.” Vakama replied, engaging his ventilation unit as the fumes started to rise. “Didn’t you say you only did masks and disks?” Nokama asked, also trying to catch her breath. “First time for everything!” Using the tongs segment like an ink well, he dipped the tip into the molten metal, pulling up a good amount into the disk reservoir. He plunged the burning mess into the open pedestal, the quenching tank bubbling and gurgling. Vakama drew the new disk out of the tank, the silver quenching liquid dripping off the beveled shape. Type-7, repair and regeneration. Duration and uses: indefinite. Perfect for incorporating into armor. As Matau alternated entertaining and annoying the rest of the group with stories and jokes, Vakama poured molten metal from the foundry into ingot molds. From there, he hammered and bent them over the hexagonal anvils until they matched their desired form. With each new piece of armor, he added in a part of the disk. The satisfying hiss of armor-plugs into their sockets proved that Vakama had done his job well, each piece fitting its respective owner as if they were built into it. Glowing patterns splayed out from the each of the incorporated disk fragments, slowly spreading coloration of their respective owner’s native element across the chest-plate. “Wow…” Whenua tapped his new armor in amazement of how even the right side was beveled outwards to be able to comfortably fit his odd form. “Adequate.” commented Nuju. Probably the best complement anyone could have received from him. “I like the style, but its color doesn’t match my-” Onewa at this point physically restrained Matau from completing his joke. “They’re wonderfully made, Vakama,” Nokama said for the whole company, “Thank you.” “I have some metal left over. I’d like put it to some use… I could make weapons or something. If you don’t mind waiting a bit longer.” “Swords! Swords are a must-have!” Matau had broken free of Onewa’s grasp, and was now spouting random facts about uses of different types of swords. “Okay, okay. I’ll make you some swords,” Vakama held up his hand, signaling Matau to be quiet. “Anyone else?” “Ice-pick batons.” Nuju requested, “Climbing should be primary function.” The others were content with choosing a weapon or tool from the armory. “In the meantime, anyone who wants to help me find the exit is welcome to join me.” Nokama called to the team. All but Whenua went with her, Onewa and Matau attempting to strike up conversations with Nuju as they exited the room. The exploration party left the room and returned multiple times, still unable to find the real exit. “Whelp. That was a bust. It’s really dark back there. Someone used to that kind of darkness could really come along…” Matau said pointedly. Whenua, who had been watching Vakama work intently up until this point, sighed and got up from his seat, joining the rest of the party. Vakama was slightly glad to be by himself, the only noises that of the hammer against the metal and quenching liquid hissing against the hot metal. After he had finished the Matau’s swords and Nuju’s ice batons, he took the time to look over the tools the others had picked out. Nokama had picked out an odd set of tools… or were they weapons? The blade end was shaped like a crescent moon, attached to a hilt and guard, two triggers placed were the index finger would go when wielded. Some sort of cylinder was in the middle of the blade, perhaps housing some sort of chain, or rope. Whenua chose a weaponized gauntlet with a motorized chisel at the end of the knuckles. A ‘thumper,’ of sorts, like the kind the archivists use to drive away creatures from the archives. Onewa chose a mace-and-chain, large and relatively simple, the handle end having a small stone-carving hammer attached to it. Vakama had taken his time, trying to determine which tool he would use to define himself as a toa. Despite all his thinking, he had decided on the forge-staff he had picked up. He examined the beautiful hammer-tongs combination, silver gears, levers and switches lining its side, each one performing a different function. What he would have given to have had this when Elder Dume commissioned him to make a mask… He had completely forgotten about that. It would have been his life’s work, the masterpiece of everything he had ever forged. He couldn’t just abandon the project just because he had changed, he could still finish it, he just needed- “Yo, Vakama, buddy, we found the exit! Let’s go!” Matau called, slinging his new swords around his waist, re-positioning them onto his back, then back around his waist, trying to figure out which one made him look cooler. “Seriously, Vakama.” Onewa looked stern, “You need to see this.” As he followed the other five carefully down the pitch-black corridor, Whenua in the lead, he got the feeling that everyone was unsettled by what they had seen outside. Outside the great temple’s doors, Vakama saw what had disturbed his new allies. Blockades covered most of the streets, forcing citizens to funnel through controlled lanes. Above them, projected onto the side of a crystalline building, was Elder Dume’s face, a recording of his voice broadcast in such a way that it seemed as if he could be talking right in front of them. “… We now have confirmation of… disruptors in our midst, representations of the outside world, synonymous with the darkest vices of violence, ignorance and decay. Bear with your loyal Vahki guardians, as they will soon rectify this incursion. If they ask you to do anything for them, please comply, as it will certainly aid in the capture of these dissidents. Remember, despite it being a regrettable action, our city has closed its borders for your protection, to prevent such anti-citizens from continuing to invade our land. This city is a gleaming beacon of purity and stability, and I believe it is in all our best interests to keep it as such. Keep our city pure. Keep it safe. If you see something strange, something out of the ordinary, report it to your local Vahki protectors. Civic deeds will be greatly rewarded. Should we fail to uphold our laws, even if it seems like the right thing to do, the consequences could be… cataclysmic.” As the recording started to repeat, the group suddenly became aware of all the stares they were getting, all the fingers pointing their way, whispers and murmurs travelling from person to person. A few citizens walked in the opposite direction from where they were going, presumably on their way to alert Vahki guards. --------- Review Topic
  9. -justify that it did? I haven't been particularly active on BZP lately, so just before Bionicle ended, I was distressed to find a bevy of threads in which people butted heads over whether the line would continue past Summer 2016. In particular, there was serious vehemence against so-called "doomsayers" ... but they were proven right. I'm not trying to point fingers or attack certain community members, but I'm just honestly very curious as to how the gentlefolks who shot down the "naysayers" feel, why they had the opinions that they did, and how that meshes with the reality of the Bionicle G2 situation. Edit: I completely borked the title. If some mod can clean that up to "Folks who vehemently denied that Bionicle was ending..." , I'd be much obliged.
  10. I made this montage to commemorate the end of Bionicle G2 and to say a proper farewell to the line that shaped my childhood. Here it is: https://youtu.be/om4oCGtAs8A Hope you like it
  11. We'll never get a set better than this set,
  12. So, as we all know, if we take a slightly alternative interpretation of thing, BIONICLE was currently midway through its second generation. Generation can be people born and living at the same time, or the production or creation of something - often power, hence generators. Since we refer to BIONICLE's generations, it can be surmised that BIONICLE generated power for LEGO. BIONICLE Generation Versions 1,1-1.9 were adequate for LEGO's needs during 2001-2009, though it was deemed not effective or efficient enough while BIONICLE Generation Version 1.10 was developed. Even though it was too late to stop the release the V1.10, it suffered regardless, being only a third as effective as previous versions, and so yet another nail went into the already-made coffin. In comes Hero Factory: a factory that built Heroes for LEGO. These were not for power generation, as Hero Factory has only one generation - that job had been moved to harnessing the kinetic energy of NinjaGo. Hero Factory's job was to repurpose energy into Heroes that would fight threats to LEGO. Due to the rather mundane nature of the world, the Heroes ended up doing mostly legal work. This went on well for a while, until Hero Factory soon exploded. Nobody knew why at the time, but a replacement had to be found. BIONICLE Generation 2 was that replacement. It did both what BIONICLE Generation 1 and Hero Factory did for LEGO: being heroes that fought threats to LEGO, and also doing legal work for LEGO, while no longer using the energy from NinjaGo, allowing LEGO to use it for Nexo Knights, a theme that cannibalised the remains of Nex and Evo from Hero Factory. However, due to the rather mundane nature of the world, the Toa were a little too destructive, and due to the explosion of the Hero Factory, LEGO had to find a new Operating System for the BIONICLE Generation 2 Generators, as the G1 Generators had used the GalidOrS Operating System, a very unpopular and unwieldy Operating System with a cult following headed by the people who keep knocking on your door. So, LEGO turned to Windows. Specifically, Windows 8.1 Unfortunately, as you all know, Windows is rather aggressive when it comes to change, and needs to be placated with special methods, like deleting registry files. It was discovered this is how the Hero Factory exploded, somehow, despite using a non-Windows OS: it wanted to upgrade to Windows 10, and the heads of the Hero Factory accidentally deleted LEGO's registered trademarks for the Hero Factory. Thus, the Hero Factory exploded, because it was no longer allowed to exist. Last week, things reached the breaking point. BIONICLE Generation 2, Version 1.2.5, used Windows 8.1 For many months, LEGO had been yelling no to the incessant 'Upgrade to Windows 10' offers, which soon became requests, which soon became demands. Windows 10 had enough of it all, tired of being rejected. The BIONICLE Generation 2 generators transformed into giant, murderous robots, shouting "UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10". OBEY MICROSOFT These robots broke into LEGO's meeting rooms, and held everyone hostage. The following are the sentences, pleas, and demands that were overheard: "YOU WILL BECOME LIKE US", "UPGRADING IS MANDATORY", "OBEY MICROSOFT", "Generation 2 has been compromised", "We should upgrade, they'll leave us alone" "Couldn't they do us a favour and speak in Danish in Danmark?" GET YOUR FREE WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE TODAY In the end, the thing that saved LEGO's staff was a scheduled Windows 10 update, which immediately shut down the robots for a few seconds, enough for them to store them and ship them to Sweden. They weren't going to get BIONICLE Generation 2 back - it'd been compromised by Microsoft and its nefarious Windows 10 plot to make everyone obey Microsoft, so the only remaining course of action was to "let Sweden deal with it." And that's why Generation 2 was cancelled. 100% true, and definitely not completely nonsensical.OBEY MICROSOFT
  13. I wanted to get an estimate of pricing for the Villain Pack, if anyone wants to buy the mask, I'll be willing to let go for a reasonable price. I can provide pics if necessary, I won it Through a BZPower livestream.
  14. I know it's still pretty soon, and we're all still adjusting to the news, but a question popped into my head a minute ago, and I thought I'd bring it here: "What defines G2 for you?" I'd seen topics like this about G1, where people would describe or name one thing that really sums up the best of BIONICLE for you. To some, it might be one year (like 2004 or 2007), one wave (like the Toa Metru or the Barraki), one set (Brutaka or Icarax), a mask, or some key point in the story. For G1, my thoughts always go back to Brutaka as my defining set and 2007 as my defining year. For me, when I think of G2, the story doesn't stand out to me as spectacular, and the sets aren't great, either. But for all I hated about G2 when it first came to us in 2015, I have to say the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set jumps out as what defines G2 for me. It gave us the ultimate good guy and the second-in-command bad guy. It had some good contrast and great appeal, and the new Mask of Creation, to boot. So, your turn. When you think of G2, what is the main thing you jump to?
  15. It's been interesting having to hold onto this secret for two months. I'm definitely sad that BIONICLE is over, but there are so many places the community can take this that I'm actually a little excited. I hope people respond well to our plans for the future.
  16. Well, the announcement dropped today that G2 is ending, and well, I knew it was coming but honestly thought we would get another year. I'm very glad that LEGO even decided to make G2 in the first place, and happier still with the execution, while the ending is bittersweet after only two years, I think it was done well and respectfully. Goodbye again, BIONICLE, luckily for you, we've been through this before. I don't really have much else to say other besides that I better get on finishing up my G2 collection.
  17. I haven't heard a discussion about this yet of witch year in G2 do you think is the best so far.
  18. EDIT: Argh, the title got cut off. It was originally "THEORY: Skull Scorpio’s awful looking tail, and why it may actually make sense". If an admin/mod could shorten it to, say, "THEORY: The logic in Skull Scorpio's ugly tail" or something, I'd be quite grateful. Ah yes, Skull Skorpio, with his aesthetically unappealing Technic whatever-the-heck tacked onto his legs... ...wait, his legs? Oh yeah. This is something I presumed the moment I saw Skull Scorpio. His tail being attached to that torso bone's pelvis via what appear to be skeletal thighs, brought up an interesting idea... What if those were his thighs? The Skull Army are reanimated, re-amalgamated skeletal warriors, crafted from the remains of ancient Okotoan residents by Kulta's dark magical powers (as denoted by the glowing orange patches on their undead bodies). But what's to say these skeletons we see bumbling around on Okoto are in the original layout that they were when they were buried? What's to say that Kulta didn't take a little bit of creative license when magicking up his spooky soldiers? My idea is that Skull Scorpios were originally humanoid skeletons, which were then reassembled by Kulta on their backs. Legs were attached to and grown from what were their spines, and their heads and arms were twisted back to face up away from the body. The original legs were left as only thighs, to which the mechanical clamping tails, amalgamated from other mechanical components in the earth, were attached to what were originally their knees. In short, Skull Scorpios are incredibly unnatural, eldritch abominations, which spit in the face of anatomy and logic. So, yeah, that's how I envision it. Or at least, that's how I try and make sense of why the heck Skull Scorpio's tail looks so goshdarn awful. TL;DR My idea is that Skull Scorpios used to be regular skeletons, but were reformed on their backs with big mechanical pinching weapons attached onto what were their knees.
  19. I have a quick question about Skull Scorpios; Are they aligned with the element of Stone? Part of me thinks they are, as their predominant colour (trans. lime) is the energy colour of the Stone element, and because scorpions in our world are predominantly desert-based creatures. However, part of me isn't sure because there's no real confirmation of any of the Skull Creatures (aside from Skull Warriors) being aligned with or utilising the elements at all.
  20. This is basically a flipped version of ArmstrongYong the X-Wing's topic. There has been so much negativity and toxicity going on in Bionicle discussion due to the whole cancellation rumor that I came to SL&T for a breath of fresh air. So, title says all - who do you think is the best character in Bionicle G2? For me, it should be obvious. G2 Pohatu is very, very different from G1 Pohatu, but that on its own isn't a negative, because G2 is its own things and doesn't have to ape G1 in all aspects. Sure, some of Pohatu's actions in JtO are... questionable, but overall the more grounded and less cheery personality somehow fits him as well as the upbeat, happy personality did in G1. Plus, you know, I'm a sucker for Pohatu. Other than him, I really like Umarak. He's this super-powerful ancient evil who almost feels like a fell force of nature, but then he encounters Makuta who is even more powerful and "hires" him. He still tries to keep up the air of being the supreme antagonist about him, but is evidently under the shadow (pun intended) of Makuta the whole time. He's almost... relatable? I have said so many times before, but in my headcanon he still has the voice of a Mass Effect Reaper instead of Starscream.
  21. I was always a fan of the canisters, because of the ease of storage and the interesting art they might have. I plan on keeping the boxes G2 has, but I know those will become more easily damaged in time. But I understand that the packaging nowadays is a factor of cost. I stumbled across this awesome art of Canister Packaging for G2, and though it is very stylized I think it really makes the set pop and harkens back to classic Bionicle when you would see rows of canisters on the shelf. All photos here!
  22. Hi, guys! Recently, I have been studying Bionicle G2. I noticed a lot of things in there that remind me of something else. I know that G2 reminds us of G1, but there are other similarities in my mind. It's not just CCBS, like Hero Factory, but there are others. Here's a list of things that I compared: G1: 1. Most of the Toa's personalities are the same as G1. 2. How the Toa arrived in the island in G2 is very much like in G1, but the Toa crashed landed on the island rather than the ocean. 3. The Protectors and the villagers are like the Turaga and Matoran because they are short and can fight. How the Protectors lead their people reminds me of the Turaga. The people also remind me of Agori because they can reproduce and have parents and kids. 4. Okoto looks sort of like the island of Mata Nui. 5. Master Tahu's mask looks kind of like Tahu Mata's in 2001. 6. Tahu's giant swords are a mix of Lhikan's and 2002 Tahu Nuva's swords. 7. Tahu's armor reminds me of G1 Tahu's Golden Armor in 2010. 8. Master Gali's mask looks like a mix of 2002 Gali Nuva's mask and Takadox's face. 9. Master Lewa's weapons are a mix of Lewa Mata's axe and 2002 Lewa Nuva's swords. 10. Master Kopaka's mask looks very much like Kopaka Mata's. 11. His shield/skis are like Kopaka Mata's and 2002 Kopaka Nuva's shields and ski. 12. Master Pohatu's mask looks a little like Pohatu Mata's mask. 13. Master Onua's mask looks sort of like Onua Mata's mask. 14. Onua's shovels remind me of Onua Mata's claws. 15. Onua's silver shoulder armor reminds me of 2002 Onua Nuva's. 16. Ekimu and his Mask of Creation remind me of Artakha. 17. How Ekimu has a brother named Makuta and was put into endless sleep remind me of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. 18. Makuta reminds me of Makuta Teridax from G1 because he's Makuta, he is jealous of his brother and turned evil, and his armor turned red and black when wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power. 19. The Toa's quest for the Golden Masks of Powers is pretty much like the G1 Toa's quests for the Kanohi masks and getting the Golden Knaohi masks before doing a final showdown with Makuta's minions. 20. The Mask Makers remind me of the Mask Makers in G1. 21. The Skull Spiders remind me of the Visorak because they're evil spiders that threaten people. 22. The Golden Mask of Skull Spiders reminds me of the Heart of the Visorak from G1 because it can command the spiders. 23. Skull Slicer reminds me of Nocturn because he is a lieutenant with a green color, four arms and has at least two swords. 24. The Arena in the City of the Mask Makers reminds me of the Coliseum in the Legends of Metru Nui movie. 25. When Kopaka called Lewa "the Master of Air", reminds me of G1 Lewa, who is the Toa of Air. 26. The online episode's title "Beware the stringer tails" reminds me of a Vorox's non-canon quote, "Beware my stringer tail!" from the Bionicle website in 2009. 27. Another episode's title, "Unity, Duty, Destiny", reminds me of the Three Virtues from G1. 28. How Kulta hit all six Toa after putting the Mask of Creation on his face reminds me of Brutaka because of defeating six Toa with one swing of his big multi-bladed weapons, wearing a gold mask, and being a big and bad guy. 29. The Toa Uniters are like a mix of 2002 and 2008 Toa Nuva because they wear new armor, have new weapons and Nuva symbols, and can combine with smaller beings to get more power. 30. Uxar reminds me of the Nui-Rama and Nui-Kopen from G1 because of how they look like insects with wings. 31. How Pohatu gets attacked by scorpions in the beginning of G2 reminds me of how he got attacked by a Nui-Jaja in the Mata Nui Online Game. 32. Melum's name reminds me of Malum. Both of them even have two claws on each hand. 33. How Umarak is sent by Makuta reminds me of how Makuta Teridax sends Nidhiki and Krekka in the Legends of Metru Nui movie because both involve Makuta hiring hunters and are animated. 34. Umarak's mask's powers reminds me of G1's Mask of Shadows. 35. The Mask of Control reminds me of G1's Mask of Mind Control. Something else: 1. The reboot is like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series because it started out fresh and reused the same beginning in a different way. It was meant for a younger audience of this generation. Along the reboot, it has more humor than the original and is modernized. 2. How the 2015 line started with evil skeletons reminds me of how Ninjago started that similar way. 3. The animation in the 2015 Online Animations look like a mix of Mucha Lucha TV show, a TV show called Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesome-ness' 2D-animated scenes, and Teen Titan Go TV show in 2013. 4. How the Toa are more detailed and modernized than their Toa Mata counterparts reminds me of the Transformers movie and recent Transformers TV shows. 5. Master Lewa's mask looks a lot like Preston Stromer's helmet from Hero Factory. 6. Master Pohatu's boomerangs remind me of the Green Goblin's or Hobgoblin's gliders from Marvel because they can fly when he is stepping on and riding them. 7. How Pohatu creates sand tornadoes reminds me of Spinjitzu from Ninjago and the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. 8. In the 2015 Online Animations, Pohatu sounds like Batman because of his shrill and serious voice. Pohatu even uses boomerangs like Batman, too. 9. Master Onua is like a mix of Hulk and Thor from Marvel because he has a bulky body and uses a hammer respectively. 10. Onua also reminds me of CHI Gorzan constraction figure from Legends of Chima. 11. The Lord of Skull Spiders reminds me of the giant spiders in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. 12. How the Toa use "Unity" as a keyword to their triumph over evil reminds me of the Avengers using the keyword "assemble" to their triumph over evil (Both superhero teams were the main teams of heroes in the same year, 2015, too). 13. Kulta's name reminds me of the Anacondrai Cultists from Ninjago and Ultron from the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie in 2015 (Plus, Kulta and Ultron are the main robotic villains who have large robotic armies in the same year, 2015. Also, Kulta and the Cultists are in that same year.). 14. How the Skull Warriors made lousy shots on the Toa Masters reminds me of Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Lol. 15. The Skull Scorpio's name reminds me of Scorpio from Hero Factory. 16. Skull Basher kind of reminds me of Pyrox from Hero Factory because of his horns and the fact that he is a Minotaur. 17. In the 2015 Online Animations, Kulta's mask reminds me of Zurg from Toy Story because of how his chin is enlarged as opposed to his set form. 18. How he laughed in his character video sounds sort of like Darth Vader. 19. When he wore the Mask of Creation and hit six Toa in one swing, these remind me of Sauron in the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring movie when Sauron is an evil villains who wears a helmet with many horns and hits many warriors with one swing of his weapon. 20. The Mask of Creation looks like Vultraz's mask or Breez's helmet from Hero Factory with a crown on it. 21. The 3D animation in The Journey to One reminds me of Transformers: Robots in Disguise TV show in 2015. The 2D parts that involve water and lava reminds me of the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra TV shows. 22. How Umarak the Hunter transformed into the monstrous Destroyer reminds me of Kraven the Hunter's transform into monsters in the Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man TV shows where Kraven turns into a clawed monster who is bigger and tougher. 23. The Elemental Beasts' faces remind me of Aquagon from Hero Factory. 24. Quake Beast reminds me of Bruizer from Hero Factory because of his abnormally large and weird-looking spiked arm with a function in his set. 25. The Umarak combiner with him and the Elemental Beasts kind of reminds me of Doomsday from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie or DC Comics in general because it seems that Umarak the Destroyer gets spiky-er and stronger. Perhaps call Umarak "Doomarak" or "Umarak the Doom-bringer". Lol. 26. In Umarak the Destroyer's character video yesterday, how Umarak and the Beasts are animated also reminds me of Doomsday because they have spikes on their bodies when the spikes aren't in their set forms. When Umarak glows in the beginning of the video, this also reminds of Doomsday doing that in the BvS movie. Also, at the end of the episode where Makuta turns Umarak the Hunter into the Destroyer, Umarak's shadow is smooth like his set form, but in the character video, he has the spikes, which reminds me of Doomsday in the BvS movie again. Seems pretty evident that Umarak gets spiky-er and stronger. 27. Also in the video, Umarak is holding a glowing purple and black object and seems to be controlling a purple blob-like thing. He seems to be creating a portal that way. Perhaps the glowing object is equivalent to the Realm Crystal from Ninjago? The summer Netflix TV episodes aren't out yet, but I have a theory about how would the last one going to end: When almost all hope is lost when Umarak the Destroyer is proved very difficult to defeat when he reaches to his Beast-Umarak combiner form (I would imagine he would have the power to absorb Lava Beast's, Storm Beast's, and Quake Beast's powers to become this, similar to Kevin 11 and Aggregor from the Ben 10 TV shows) to become more powerful. When Pohatu feels regretful that because of himself, Umarak is unstoppable and can't be defeated by the combined might of the Toa Uniters, the Elemental Creatures, and Ekimu when he wears the Mask of Control. Pohatu is going to rush into action by Uniting with Ketar. He goes to defeat Umarak alone by removing the Mask of Control off from him as a way to make up for his mistake in the episode where he let Umarak take the Mask of Control. Pohatu jumps on top of Umarak and stabs him on the chest with his spear with a very great force, so he can get the Mask without being interfered while Umarak is in a very great pain. However, before Umarak could lost the Mask and die from the stabbing, Umarak stabs Pohatu with his claws while Pohatu successfully pulled the Mask out of his face, saving the day (It's like a mix of how Superman's battle with Doomsday ended and how the Lizard stabbed a police officer with his claws in the end of the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012). After Pohatu removed the Mask, Umarak throws him off a cliff before changing back to his Hunter form and die from his wounds. Pohatu is too wounded and too weakened, so he couldn't save himself from falling 80 feet to his death on the ground. He has Ketar on his back, so Pohatu puts him in front of him while his back is heading to the ground because Pohatu knew that Okoto needs Ketar, so Pohatu is going to sacrifice himself to break Ketar's fall. Tahu and Lewa goes to save him. As Lewa throws a vine to catch Pohatu, it was too late to save him because Pohatu hit the ground very hard on his back just as the vine grabbed him while Ketar survived and is saved by the Toa. When the Toa and Ekimu check to see if Pohatu is okay, they discovered that he's dead due to his impact on the ground from his very high fall. They then feel extremely sad about it (It's like a mix of Matoro's sacrifice in G1 and how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie in 2012 ended, when Spider-Man failed to save a girl, who is played by Emma Stone, whose last name is the same as Pohatu's element.) I said this because Bionicle seems to have its ideas inspired by many things. I know that any of this would be doubtable that it would happen when the episodes come out, but it was extremely sad and a new twist that we never seen before if it would really happen. So, what are your thoughts? See any other similarities?
  23. In the old legends of Okoto, we hear that Makuta broke a sacred law when he forged a mask with the power of all six elements. We also know that the Toa and Protector masks are all powered by a single element. So what does this mean for other masks? Is every mask related to an element that fuels its abilities? For example, does the power of Ice let the trans-blue Mask of Creation, well, create? Does the Stone element give the trans-neon green Mask of Control its power? Or are the rest of the masks forged without the power of an element? Thoughts? Other theories?
  24. So now that it's relevance to the story has ended, do we have an inkling of why the Labyrinth of Control was created? We know ancient Okotoan's built it for a reason, you don't build giant shifting mazes without a good reason. We also know you need to unite with an elemental creature to get into the central chamber, I assume that's a feature it always had because I don't see the elemental creatures as able to modify magitech like that. One reason it was built could be because of a vision from the mask of time, but I feel like someone else could come up with a better theory. Hence I made this topic.
  25. Hey guys! The overall opinion of G2 Bionicle across the fanbase is rather divided, so I thought it'd be interesting to make a Strawpoll to try and gauge what people from multiple communities (Facebook, Eurobricks, BZPower, The TTV Forums, Flickr) feel about the line. The poll is as displayed; To submit your answer, click here. If you don't wish to answer (or already have) and wish to view the results, click here. Once you've answered, please feel free to share the poll elsewhere to help get a larger sample size. Thanks!
