  1. Quake Beast... easily the weakest of the three beasts, and the weakest of the entire summer wave. It looks awkward from the back and the side, only looking good from the front. The function isn't really that good, either - it's just swinging the crystal arm forward without much oomph. If you ask me - they should have used Skull Basher's function here instead of a gearbox. Also, the legs are only just barely supporting the body. Umarak the Destroyer - the largest single figure G2 is ever going to get. And the last. At least it's worthy of being called a titan. Neck looks a bit awkward from the side, but given that they haven't use the normal neck ball joint, that can probably be easily fixed. Legs aren't quite as bad as they look, they have a reasonable degree of forward-backward movement. Torso gears work fine and quite well. Like Storm Beast, the hands don't have their own ball joints and are more an extension of the forearm, but Umarak's hands are so huge that it would only make Umarak look a lot more awkward. Hands could do with a bit more friction, though, but they're fine as is. Definitely looks menacing compared to the Toa, even moreso than Umarak the Hunter. The Invasion from Below claw pieces - they really do look like Umarak's claws here. Though... across all the beasts, the jaw piece is just so bad. How do you make a jaw piece and not make it have obvious teeth? You can hardly see any teeth on the jaw piece, and I'd imagine it would be received a lot more kindly if it actually looked like a lower jaw with teeth - at the moment , it's kind of hard to imagine it as a lower jaw., And the eyestalk-mask-off mechanism thing: why couldn't the beasts' 'masks' be designed so that it makes the jaw close rather than shooting their masks off?
  2. -justify that it did? I haven't been particularly active on BZP lately, so just before Bionicle ended, I was distressed to find a bevy of threads in which people butted heads over whether the line would continue past Summer 2016. In particular, there was serious vehemence against so-called "doomsayers" ... but they were proven right. I'm not trying to point fingers or attack certain community members, but I'm just honestly very curious as to how the gentlefolks who shot down the "naysayers" feel, why they had the opinions that they did, and how that meshes with the reality of the Bionicle G2 situation. Edit: I completely borked the title. If some mod can clean that up to "Folks who vehemently denied that Bionicle was ending..." , I'd be much obliged.
  3. Hello, everyone! As we all know, G2 has sadly come to an end. In commemoration of the entire BIONICLE saga, I've decided to offer this series of two prints as my contribution to its legacy. Each print is 10 inches by 10 inches or 25.4 cm by 25.4 cm. They are printed on Kodak Endura Metallic and mounted on 50pt matboard. All prints are signed by the artist on the back for no extra charge. This Kodak paper is a favorite of mine- both because I'm from Kodak's home turf (Rochester, NY), and because of its incredible responsiveness to lighting changes. While they are mounted and fairly sturdy, you may also wish to frame them to protect the print. Each print is $15, unless you are buying the Generations Set. Payments should be made through Paypal. I will provide you with shipping costs once you give me your address. PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Prices: GENESIS (2001): $15 FOCUS (2016): $15 Both (GENERATIONS SET): $25 GENESIS: $15 USD Print One is a rendering of Tahu (2001)'s Hau, entitled GENESIS. (Photos of print) FOCUS: $15 USD Print Two is a rendering of Tahu (2016)'s Mask Of Fire, titled FOCUS (Photos of print) Q: What do they look like on a wall? Thank you for looking at my prints! -Haecceity
  4. We'll never get a set better than this set,
  5. Well, the announcement dropped today that G2 is ending, and well, I knew it was coming but honestly thought we would get another year. I'm very glad that LEGO even decided to make G2 in the first place, and happier still with the execution, while the ending is bittersweet after only two years, I think it was done well and respectfully. Goodbye again, BIONICLE, luckily for you, we've been through this before. I don't really have much else to say other besides that I better get on finishing up my G2 collection.
  6. I made this montage to commemorate the end of Bionicle G2 and to say a proper farewell to the line that shaped my childhood. Here it is: https://youtu.be/om4oCGtAs8A Hope you like it
  7. A while ago I was thinking of the differences between the old and the new Kopaka, and eventually I made this. Link: I have to say there's something charming about the old Kopaka, something that the new one is missing. I liked how he didn't need a shiny armor or to be bulky to be one of the strongest and most resourceful Toa of the team. I thought about making one of these drawings for each Toa but I doubt I'll have the time... Comments are very welcome, please let me know what you think!
  8. I know it's still pretty soon, and we're all still adjusting to the news, but a question popped into my head a minute ago, and I thought I'd bring it here: "What defines G2 for you?" I'd seen topics like this about G1, where people would describe or name one thing that really sums up the best of BIONICLE for you. To some, it might be one year (like 2004 or 2007), one wave (like the Toa Metru or the Barraki), one set (Brutaka or Icarax), a mask, or some key point in the story. For G1, my thoughts always go back to Brutaka as my defining set and 2007 as my defining year. For me, when I think of G2, the story doesn't stand out to me as spectacular, and the sets aren't great, either. But for all I hated about G2 when it first came to us in 2015, I have to say the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set jumps out as what defines G2 for me. It gave us the ultimate good guy and the second-in-command bad guy. It had some good contrast and great appeal, and the new Mask of Creation, to boot. So, your turn. When you think of G2, what is the main thing you jump to?
  9. It's been interesting having to hold onto this secret for two months. I'm definitely sad that BIONICLE is over, but there are so many places the community can take this that I'm actually a little excited. I hope people respond well to our plans for the future.
  10. So, as we all know, if we take a slightly alternative interpretation of thing, BIONICLE was currently midway through its second generation. Generation can be people born and living at the same time, or the production or creation of something - often power, hence generators. Since we refer to BIONICLE's generations, it can be surmised that BIONICLE generated power for LEGO. BIONICLE Generation Versions 1,1-1.9 were adequate for LEGO's needs during 2001-2009, though it was deemed not effective or efficient enough while BIONICLE Generation Version 1.10 was developed. Even though it was too late to stop the release the V1.10, it suffered regardless, being only a third as effective as previous versions, and so yet another nail went into the already-made coffin. In comes Hero Factory: a factory that built Heroes for LEGO. These were not for power generation, as Hero Factory has only one generation - that job had been moved to harnessing the kinetic energy of NinjaGo. Hero Factory's job was to repurpose energy into Heroes that would fight threats to LEGO. Due to the rather mundane nature of the world, the Heroes ended up doing mostly legal work. This went on well for a while, until Hero Factory soon exploded. Nobody knew why at the time, but a replacement had to be found. BIONICLE Generation 2 was that replacement. It did both what BIONICLE Generation 1 and Hero Factory did for LEGO: being heroes that fought threats to LEGO, and also doing legal work for LEGO, while no longer using the energy from NinjaGo, allowing LEGO to use it for Nexo Knights, a theme that cannibalised the remains of Nex and Evo from Hero Factory. However, due to the rather mundane nature of the world, the Toa were a little too destructive, and due to the explosion of the Hero Factory, LEGO had to find a new Operating System for the BIONICLE Generation 2 Generators, as the G1 Generators had used the GalidOrS Operating System, a very unpopular and unwieldy Operating System with a cult following headed by the people who keep knocking on your door. So, LEGO turned to Windows. Specifically, Windows 8.1 Unfortunately, as you all know, Windows is rather aggressive when it comes to change, and needs to be placated with special methods, like deleting registry files. It was discovered this is how the Hero Factory exploded, somehow, despite using a non-Windows OS: it wanted to upgrade to Windows 10, and the heads of the Hero Factory accidentally deleted LEGO's registered trademarks for the Hero Factory. Thus, the Hero Factory exploded, because it was no longer allowed to exist. Last week, things reached the breaking point. BIONICLE Generation 2, Version 1.2.5, used Windows 8.1 For many months, LEGO had been yelling no to the incessant 'Upgrade to Windows 10' offers, which soon became requests, which soon became demands. Windows 10 had enough of it all, tired of being rejected. The BIONICLE Generation 2 generators transformed into giant, murderous robots, shouting "UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10". OBEY MICROSOFT These robots broke into LEGO's meeting rooms, and held everyone hostage. The following are the sentences, pleas, and demands that were overheard: "YOU WILL BECOME LIKE US", "UPGRADING IS MANDATORY", "OBEY MICROSOFT", "Generation 2 has been compromised", "We should upgrade, they'll leave us alone" "Couldn't they do us a favour and speak in Danish in Danmark?" GET YOUR FREE WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE TODAY In the end, the thing that saved LEGO's staff was a scheduled Windows 10 update, which immediately shut down the robots for a few seconds, enough for them to store them and ship them to Sweden. They weren't going to get BIONICLE Generation 2 back - it'd been compromised by Microsoft and its nefarious Windows 10 plot to make everyone obey Microsoft, so the only remaining course of action was to "let Sweden deal with it." And that's why Generation 2 was cancelled. 100% true, and definitely not completely nonsensical.OBEY MICROSOFT
  11. I wanted to get an estimate of pricing for the Villain Pack, if anyone wants to buy the mask, I'll be willing to let go for a reasonable price. I can provide pics if necessary, I won it Through a BZPower livestream.
  12. I haven't heard a discussion about this yet of witch year in G2 do you think is the best so far.
  13. This is basically a flipped version of ArmstrongYong the X-Wing's topic. There has been so much negativity and toxicity going on in Bionicle discussion due to the whole cancellation rumor that I came to SL&T for a breath of fresh air. So, title says all - who do you think is the best character in Bionicle G2? For me, it should be obvious. G2 Pohatu is very, very different from G1 Pohatu, but that on its own isn't a negative, because G2 is its own things and doesn't have to ape G1 in all aspects. Sure, some of Pohatu's actions in JtO are... questionable, but overall the more grounded and less cheery personality somehow fits him as well as the upbeat, happy personality did in G1. Plus, you know, I'm a sucker for Pohatu. Other than him, I really like Umarak. He's this super-powerful ancient evil who almost feels like a fell force of nature, but then he encounters Makuta who is even more powerful and "hires" him. He still tries to keep up the air of being the supreme antagonist about him, but is evidently under the shadow (pun intended) of Makuta the whole time. He's almost... relatable? I have said so many times before, but in my headcanon he still has the voice of a Mass Effect Reaper instead of Starscream.
  14. Hey guys! The overall opinion of G2 Bionicle across the fanbase is rather divided, so I thought it'd be interesting to make a Strawpoll to try and gauge what people from multiple communities (Facebook, Eurobricks, BZPower, The TTV Forums, Flickr) feel about the line. The poll is as displayed; To submit your answer, click here. If you don't wish to answer (or already have) and wish to view the results, click here. Once you've answered, please feel free to share the poll elsewhere to help get a larger sample size. Thanks!
  15. EDIT: Argh, the title got cut off. It was originally "THEORY: Skull Scorpio’s awful looking tail, and why it may actually make sense". If an admin/mod could shorten it to, say, "THEORY: The logic in Skull Scorpio's ugly tail" or something, I'd be quite grateful. Ah yes, Skull Skorpio, with his aesthetically unappealing Technic whatever-the-heck tacked onto his legs... ...wait, his legs? Oh yeah. This is something I presumed the moment I saw Skull Scorpio. His tail being attached to that torso bone's pelvis via what appear to be skeletal thighs, brought up an interesting idea... What if those were his thighs? The Skull Army are reanimated, re-amalgamated skeletal warriors, crafted from the remains of ancient Okotoan residents by Kulta's dark magical powers (as denoted by the glowing orange patches on their undead bodies). But what's to say these skeletons we see bumbling around on Okoto are in the original layout that they were when they were buried? What's to say that Kulta didn't take a little bit of creative license when magicking up his spooky soldiers? My idea is that Skull Scorpios were originally humanoid skeletons, which were then reassembled by Kulta on their backs. Legs were attached to and grown from what were their spines, and their heads and arms were twisted back to face up away from the body. The original legs were left as only thighs, to which the mechanical clamping tails, amalgamated from other mechanical components in the earth, were attached to what were originally their knees. In short, Skull Scorpios are incredibly unnatural, eldritch abominations, which spit in the face of anatomy and logic. So, yeah, that's how I envision it. Or at least, that's how I try and make sense of why the heck Skull Scorpio's tail looks so goshdarn awful. TL;DR My idea is that Skull Scorpios used to be regular skeletons, but were reformed on their backs with big mechanical pinching weapons attached onto what were their knees.
  16. I have a quick question about Skull Scorpios; Are they aligned with the element of Stone? Part of me thinks they are, as their predominant colour (trans. lime) is the energy colour of the Stone element, and because scorpions in our world are predominantly desert-based creatures. However, part of me isn't sure because there's no real confirmation of any of the Skull Creatures (aside from Skull Warriors) being aligned with or utilising the elements at all.
  17. I was always a fan of the canisters, because of the ease of storage and the interesting art they might have. I plan on keeping the boxes G2 has, but I know those will become more easily damaged in time. But I understand that the packaging nowadays is a factor of cost. I stumbled across this awesome art of Canister Packaging for G2, and though it is very stylized I think it really makes the set pop and harkens back to classic Bionicle when you would see rows of canisters on the shelf. All photos here!
  18. Umarak the Hunter stood in a forest clearing. In front of him was the exit to the sprawling Labyrinth of Control. Six colourful beings ran towards him from the exit. In his right hand, he held a huge bow. In the other, he held the ram-horned Mask of Control. The six Toa ran across the threshold of the exit. Each one wore a golden mask and their blue eyes shone from behind it. Tahu stepped forwards, his swords extending. "Umarak! Drop the mask and we may go easy on you." Umarak spoke in his thousand-year-old voice, a deep, raspy, yet strong one. "I'm afraid, Tahu, that I cannot do that." "Then face my fire! Ikir, UNITY!" Tahu raised a sword into the air. The other Toa looked around. "Where's Ikir?" Onua asked. Suddenly, a bird's screech filled the sky. Every Toa turned to see Ikir, the birdlike Creature of Fire, carrying Ekimu the Mask Maker towards the Toa. "Toa!" He yelled. "I have come to help you! You must remember! Unity will protect you in this battle!" Ekimu dropped down next to Tahu. "I will watch you fight Umarak. If you are not ready, I will take over." Tahu nodded as Ikir clicked onto his back. Ikir's head fit over Tahu's mask and his wings flapped above his shoulders. Tahu ran at Umarak. Umarak laughed menacingly and lifted the Mask of Control. Tahu jumped and aimed a sword... A grinding sound filled the air. ZYGUUUUUUUUN.... Tahu was lifted into the air as the Mask of Control glowed purple. Tahu flew backwards at an amazing speed. "Ikir, deunite!" Just as Ikir popped off of Tahu's back, both slammed into the door to the Temple of Control. They fell to the ground in a heap, defeated. Lewa and Pohatu stepped forward. "There's no way he can take both of us," Pohatu said. Suddenly, Ketar the Creature of Stone and Uxar the Creature of Jungle appeared and clicked into their places on the backs of Pohatu and Lewa, respectively. They both charged at Umarak. Pohatu leaped into the air, swinging his ball-and-chain. As it came down towards Umarak, another grinding sound filled the clearing, and the ball stopped midair. Pohatu swung off it and towards Umarak. The Mask of Control glowed purple, and Pohatu's chain snapped. Umarak caught him with the mask and flung him at the back wall. Pohatu, understanding he was defeated, didn't bother to deunite, and fell next to Tahu. Lewa now flew towards Umarak. Umarak flipped his bow and fired it, catching Lewa's wings. Lewa staggered in the air, and the Mask of Control flung him at the back wall again. Lewa and Uxar deunited, crashing against the wall and falling on top of Tahu and Ikir. Now Onua, already United, stepped forwards. "Ekimu, you must help us!" Ekimu shook his head. "You must find a way!" Onua frowned and ran at Umarak. He swung his hammer at Umarak's mask. He was caught too, and thrown at the door. However, he was too heavy, and skidded to a halt in front of Tahu, still United. "I fear Umarak may win... Gali! Kopaka! Do all you can to stop Umarak!" Ekimu was worried, but he knew that Gali was one of the most powerful Unities. Kopaka and Gali stepped forwards. Kopaka was hovering with the power of his Unity, and twin machine guns sat on the shoulders of Gali. They edged towards Umarak, guns blazing. The bolts stopped in front of Umarak, arranging themselves in a spherical shield around him. The bolts' spiked ends pointed outwards. "Ekimu. He can't be beaten," Kopaka said monotonously. "You must, Toa!" Umarak laughed as the bullets on his invisible shield flew outwards. Kopaka was struck down. Gali continued to take bullets. "Look, Gali... I haven't been honest with you." Ekimu sighed. "I have a special form that can defeat Umarak... But it is a last resort. Doing it could mean the end of the world. The Mask of Control can do it too. Please, Gali, don't fall to Umarak." Gali was on her knees, now. Umarak laughed and shot a single bolt from his bow. It slammed into the chin of Gali's mask, sending it flying into the head of Akida, Creature of Water, knocking it off of Gali's back. Gali fell forwards, maskless. Ekimu stepped up to Umarak. "So, a power you mentioned?" Umarak looked at him quizzically. Ekimu nodded. "I'm sorry it had to come to this." He shone with a blue light, and his limbs began getting longer. "Taller? That's all you can manage? Watch THIS!" Umarak threw the Mask of Control into the air, then removed his own mask and looked up. The Mask of Control fell onto his face, and Umarak shone with a neon green light as the Mask of Control cracked and broke across its surface. Ekimu gasped as he saw Umarak the Destroyer take form.
  19. Hi, guys! Recently, I have been studying Bionicle G2. I noticed a lot of things in there that remind me of something else. I know that G2 reminds us of G1, but there are other similarities in my mind. It's not just CCBS, like Hero Factory, but there are others. Here's a list of things that I compared: G1: 1. Most of the Toa's personalities are the same as G1. 2. How the Toa arrived in the island in G2 is very much like in G1, but the Toa crashed landed on the island rather than the ocean. 3. The Protectors and the villagers are like the Turaga and Matoran because they are short and can fight. How the Protectors lead their people reminds me of the Turaga. The people also remind me of Agori because they can reproduce and have parents and kids. 4. Okoto looks sort of like the island of Mata Nui. 5. Master Tahu's mask looks kind of like Tahu Mata's in 2001. 6. Tahu's giant swords are a mix of Lhikan's and 2002 Tahu Nuva's swords. 7. Tahu's armor reminds me of G1 Tahu's Golden Armor in 2010. 8. Master Gali's mask looks like a mix of 2002 Gali Nuva's mask and Takadox's face. 9. Master Lewa's weapons are a mix of Lewa Mata's axe and 2002 Lewa Nuva's swords. 10. Master Kopaka's mask looks very much like Kopaka Mata's. 11. His shield/skis are like Kopaka Mata's and 2002 Kopaka Nuva's shields and ski. 12. Master Pohatu's mask looks a little like Pohatu Mata's mask. 13. Master Onua's mask looks sort of like Onua Mata's mask. 14. Onua's shovels remind me of Onua Mata's claws. 15. Onua's silver shoulder armor reminds me of 2002 Onua Nuva's. 16. Ekimu and his Mask of Creation remind me of Artakha. 17. How Ekimu has a brother named Makuta and was put into endless sleep remind me of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. 18. Makuta reminds me of Makuta Teridax from G1 because he's Makuta, he is jealous of his brother and turned evil, and his armor turned red and black when wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power. 19. The Toa's quest for the Golden Masks of Powers is pretty much like the G1 Toa's quests for the Kanohi masks and getting the Golden Knaohi masks before doing a final showdown with Makuta's minions. 20. The Mask Makers remind me of the Mask Makers in G1. 21. The Skull Spiders remind me of the Visorak because they're evil spiders that threaten people. 22. The Golden Mask of Skull Spiders reminds me of the Heart of the Visorak from G1 because it can command the spiders. 23. Skull Slicer reminds me of Nocturn because he is a lieutenant with a green color, four arms and has at least two swords. 24. The Arena in the City of the Mask Makers reminds me of the Coliseum in the Legends of Metru Nui movie. 25. When Kopaka called Lewa "the Master of Air", reminds me of G1 Lewa, who is the Toa of Air. 26. The online episode's title "Beware the stringer tails" reminds me of a Vorox's non-canon quote, "Beware my stringer tail!" from the Bionicle website in 2009. 27. Another episode's title, "Unity, Duty, Destiny", reminds me of the Three Virtues from G1. 28. How Kulta hit all six Toa after putting the Mask of Creation on his face reminds me of Brutaka because of defeating six Toa with one swing of his big multi-bladed weapons, wearing a gold mask, and being a big and bad guy. 29. The Toa Uniters are like a mix of 2002 and 2008 Toa Nuva because they wear new armor, have new weapons and Nuva symbols, and can combine with smaller beings to get more power. 30. Uxar reminds me of the Nui-Rama and Nui-Kopen from G1 because of how they look like insects with wings. 31. How Pohatu gets attacked by scorpions in the beginning of G2 reminds me of how he got attacked by a Nui-Jaja in the Mata Nui Online Game. 32. Melum's name reminds me of Malum. Both of them even have two claws on each hand. 33. How Umarak is sent by Makuta reminds me of how Makuta Teridax sends Nidhiki and Krekka in the Legends of Metru Nui movie because both involve Makuta hiring hunters and are animated. 34. Umarak's mask's powers reminds me of G1's Mask of Shadows. 35. The Mask of Control reminds me of G1's Mask of Mind Control. Something else: 1. The reboot is like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series because it started out fresh and reused the same beginning in a different way. It was meant for a younger audience of this generation. Along the reboot, it has more humor than the original and is modernized. 2. How the 2015 line started with evil skeletons reminds me of how Ninjago started that similar way. 3. The animation in the 2015 Online Animations look like a mix of Mucha Lucha TV show, a TV show called Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesome-ness' 2D-animated scenes, and Teen Titan Go TV show in 2013. 4. How the Toa are more detailed and modernized than their Toa Mata counterparts reminds me of the Transformers movie and recent Transformers TV shows. 5. Master Lewa's mask looks a lot like Preston Stromer's helmet from Hero Factory. 6. Master Pohatu's boomerangs remind me of the Green Goblin's or Hobgoblin's gliders from Marvel because they can fly when he is stepping on and riding them. 7. How Pohatu creates sand tornadoes reminds me of Spinjitzu from Ninjago and the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. 8. In the 2015 Online Animations, Pohatu sounds like Batman because of his shrill and serious voice. Pohatu even uses boomerangs like Batman, too. 9. Master Onua is like a mix of Hulk and Thor from Marvel because he has a bulky body and uses a hammer respectively. 10. Onua also reminds me of CHI Gorzan constraction figure from Legends of Chima. 11. The Lord of Skull Spiders reminds me of the giant spiders in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. 12. How the Toa use "Unity" as a keyword to their triumph over evil reminds me of the Avengers using the keyword "assemble" to their triumph over evil (Both superhero teams were the main teams of heroes in the same year, 2015, too). 13. Kulta's name reminds me of the Anacondrai Cultists from Ninjago and Ultron from the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie in 2015 (Plus, Kulta and Ultron are the main robotic villains who have large robotic armies in the same year, 2015. Also, Kulta and the Cultists are in that same year.). 14. How the Skull Warriors made lousy shots on the Toa Masters reminds me of Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Lol. 15. The Skull Scorpio's name reminds me of Scorpio from Hero Factory. 16. Skull Basher kind of reminds me of Pyrox from Hero Factory because of his horns and the fact that he is a Minotaur. 17. In the 2015 Online Animations, Kulta's mask reminds me of Zurg from Toy Story because of how his chin is enlarged as opposed to his set form. 18. How he laughed in his character video sounds sort of like Darth Vader. 19. When he wore the Mask of Creation and hit six Toa in one swing, these remind me of Sauron in the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring movie when Sauron is an evil villains who wears a helmet with many horns and hits many warriors with one swing of his weapon. 20. The Mask of Creation looks like Vultraz's mask or Breez's helmet from Hero Factory with a crown on it. 21. The 3D animation in The Journey to One reminds me of Transformers: Robots in Disguise TV show in 2015. The 2D parts that involve water and lava reminds me of the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra TV shows. 22. How Umarak the Hunter transformed into the monstrous Destroyer reminds me of Kraven the Hunter's transform into monsters in the Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man TV shows where Kraven turns into a clawed monster who is bigger and tougher. 23. The Elemental Beasts' faces remind me of Aquagon from Hero Factory. 24. Quake Beast reminds me of Bruizer from Hero Factory because of his abnormally large and weird-looking spiked arm with a function in his set. 25. The Umarak combiner with him and the Elemental Beasts kind of reminds me of Doomsday from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie or DC Comics in general because it seems that Umarak the Destroyer gets spiky-er and stronger. Perhaps call Umarak "Doomarak" or "Umarak the Doom-bringer". Lol. 26. In Umarak the Destroyer's character video yesterday, how Umarak and the Beasts are animated also reminds me of Doomsday because they have spikes on their bodies when the spikes aren't in their set forms. When Umarak glows in the beginning of the video, this also reminds of Doomsday doing that in the BvS movie. Also, at the end of the episode where Makuta turns Umarak the Hunter into the Destroyer, Umarak's shadow is smooth like his set form, but in the character video, he has the spikes, which reminds me of Doomsday in the BvS movie again. Seems pretty evident that Umarak gets spiky-er and stronger. 27. Also in the video, Umarak is holding a glowing purple and black object and seems to be controlling a purple blob-like thing. He seems to be creating a portal that way. Perhaps the glowing object is equivalent to the Realm Crystal from Ninjago? The summer Netflix TV episodes aren't out yet, but I have a theory about how would the last one going to end: When almost all hope is lost when Umarak the Destroyer is proved very difficult to defeat when he reaches to his Beast-Umarak combiner form (I would imagine he would have the power to absorb Lava Beast's, Storm Beast's, and Quake Beast's powers to become this, similar to Kevin 11 and Aggregor from the Ben 10 TV shows) to become more powerful. When Pohatu feels regretful that because of himself, Umarak is unstoppable and can't be defeated by the combined might of the Toa Uniters, the Elemental Creatures, and Ekimu when he wears the Mask of Control. Pohatu is going to rush into action by Uniting with Ketar. He goes to defeat Umarak alone by removing the Mask of Control off from him as a way to make up for his mistake in the episode where he let Umarak take the Mask of Control. Pohatu jumps on top of Umarak and stabs him on the chest with his spear with a very great force, so he can get the Mask without being interfered while Umarak is in a very great pain. However, before Umarak could lost the Mask and die from the stabbing, Umarak stabs Pohatu with his claws while Pohatu successfully pulled the Mask out of his face, saving the day (It's like a mix of how Superman's battle with Doomsday ended and how the Lizard stabbed a police officer with his claws in the end of the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012). After Pohatu removed the Mask, Umarak throws him off a cliff before changing back to his Hunter form and die from his wounds. Pohatu is too wounded and too weakened, so he couldn't save himself from falling 80 feet to his death on the ground. He has Ketar on his back, so Pohatu puts him in front of him while his back is heading to the ground because Pohatu knew that Okoto needs Ketar, so Pohatu is going to sacrifice himself to break Ketar's fall. Tahu and Lewa goes to save him. As Lewa throws a vine to catch Pohatu, it was too late to save him because Pohatu hit the ground very hard on his back just as the vine grabbed him while Ketar survived and is saved by the Toa. When the Toa and Ekimu check to see if Pohatu is okay, they discovered that he's dead due to his impact on the ground from his very high fall. They then feel extremely sad about it (It's like a mix of Matoro's sacrifice in G1 and how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie in 2012 ended, when Spider-Man failed to save a girl, who is played by Emma Stone, whose last name is the same as Pohatu's element.) I said this because Bionicle seems to have its ideas inspired by many things. I know that any of this would be doubtable that it would happen when the episodes come out, but it was extremely sad and a new twist that we never seen before if it would really happen. So, what are your thoughts? See any other similarities?
  20. In the old legends of Okoto, we hear that Makuta broke a sacred law when he forged a mask with the power of all six elements. We also know that the Toa and Protector masks are all powered by a single element. So what does this mean for other masks? Is every mask related to an element that fuels its abilities? For example, does the power of Ice let the trans-blue Mask of Creation, well, create? Does the Stone element give the trans-neon green Mask of Control its power? Or are the rest of the masks forged without the power of an element? Thoughts? Other theories?
  21. So now that it's relevance to the story has ended, do we have an inkling of why the Labyrinth of Control was created? We know ancient Okotoan's built it for a reason, you don't build giant shifting mazes without a good reason. We also know you need to unite with an elemental creature to get into the central chamber, I assume that's a feature it always had because I don't see the elemental creatures as able to modify magitech like that. One reason it was built could be because of a vision from the mask of time, but I feel like someone else could come up with a better theory. Hence I made this topic.
  22. The Toa have fallen. Kulta, the Skull Grinder has defeated them as well as the re-awoken Ekimu, whom he spared as final insult. After a short period of uneasy peace, the ravenous Skull Army spilled out of the City of The Mask Makers, driven by a hunger for conquest. As the undead hordes encroach upon the regions of Okoto, the villagers must face something even worse than any Skull minion. At the head of each army rides a corrupted Toa, brought back from the dead by the powers of the Mask of Creation. It should have been a time of Unity. Instead, it is a time of Despair. Pohatu, Revenant of Stone Leading the army of Skull Scoripos, Pohatu has ravaged the region of stone. Not ever death could erase his dislike of the creatures, which is why he lets them prowl and ravage at their behest while he hunts alone. Kulta instructed him and the other Revenants to find - and kill - the elemental creatures of their Regions, as they might prove to be a threat. Upon finding Ketar, Pohatu tricked the creature into thinking he is still a genuine Toa - a power all Revenants posses. When the creature was unawares, Pohatu acted and began to dismember Ketar, while the little scorpion was still alive. After destroying the Golden Unity Mask of Stone, he returned from the temple with parts of Ketar's carapace grafted into his armor, onto his very bones. It was upon that day that the Skull Scorpios truly accepted their leader, their Alpha. In his Revenant form, Pohatu wields twin Meat Cleavers, Corrupted Stormerangs and his original Dagger. Of all the Revenants, his hatred burns with the greatest ferocity. Who could stand before him? Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskBiGAQ9 Nilkuu, Guardian of Stone Kulta may have defeated Ekimu, however even so he underestimated the Mask Maker. Before fleeing the City, he managed to salvage pieces of advanced elemental armor he began forging for the Toa of the prophecies before Makuta's betrayal. Before the Skull Armies reached any of the villages, he called upon the six protectors to meet him at the temple of time. Here, he performed and ancient - and forbidden - ritual of self-sacrifice, where his life-force was used to grant the protectors powers that almost equalled that of the Toa. With their new forms and armor, the Guardians had a chance - albeit slim - of stemming the tide of war. The transformation into Guardians tapped into the emotions of each Protector. While the main Stone village was not attacked yet, Revenant Pohatu had made the most progress of all the Skull invaders, and Ketar has already been killed. Primal rage heaved within Nilkuu, which is why his transformation has left him looking more like a beast than a Toa. With armor that resembles the carapace of a scorpion and clawed feet, the Stone villagers were at first unsure as to greet him or flee. However, Nilkuu's great love of his people and home remained, and were augmented as much as his rage. Nilkuu, with his advanced Elemental Sandstone Blaster and new Mountain Glaive will stop at nothing to eradicate every Skull Scorpio in the region of stone - and to give Revenant Pohatu the same treatment that Ketar had to endure before his death. Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskBiGtVs ... These models once again only use elements from 2015 Pohatu, Protector of Stone, 2015 Lewa, 2016 Pohatu, Ketar- Creature of Stone and Skull Scorpio. The main attraction here is Nilkuu, seeing as Pohatu is mostly just different armor plus that chain across his back, while Nilkuu has more custom stuff. Nilkuu's six-shooter is functional. Both of his gear-functions work. The glaive weapon can be stored on his back, however the blaster cannot. Pohatu's gear function works, and his weapon-sets can be stored on the chain on his back. Ekimu

Ekimu, Lava Beast, and Storm Beast arrived in the mail today. Ekimu's Magical Growth Spurt is a pretty good set. He finally got rid of that impractical hammer-gun and replaced it with a hammer, in addition to mounting his shield to his forearm so he can wield his hammer two-handed if he so wishes. Hammer is a pretty creative and clever arrangement of pieces that creates a shape one mold probably wouldn't be able to replicate. Also, the transparent blue is excellent him. He's like the Toa, but also a bit different, probably because he uses both gear functions and is mostly transparent. Also, the Umarak mask is pretty cool looking although it's puzzling why it appears in the set. Lava Beast, well, visually, IMO, Lava Beast is the least cluttered-looking of the monsters - no immediately obvious function parts and no ball joints or cups that don't do anything. Biggest downside is the lower legs, which really could've been done better if they were done more like Storm Beast's lower legs, which look significantly better. The blades on the arms also have gears to them which give them quite a bit of friction when the ones that swivel, well, swivel. Also, the new armour piece works the best on Lava Beast, IMO. Storm Beast is more about the function than the look, although the function's parts don't really stand out that much, fortunately. Storm Beast also has significantly better lower legs than Lava Beast. Storm Beast's function is a good idea in concept, however it's not as good as people thought it would be - it causes the arms and tail to flop around a lot, and they won't stay in place if raised, not to mention it doesn't work 100% perfectly - when you pull the tail down, for instance, there is a good chance one arm will be slightly lower than the other. Also, the colours are pretty decent and probably the most eye-catching blend of the beasts. Transparent lime, dark blue (let's just call it that because calling it metru blue is outdated nonsense), and transparent blue go together quite well. However, the jaws of the beasts are pretty bad. They're more or less fixed in place unless you want to pop the mask of, which you probably don't because few masks fit the beast's heads with the jaw attachments. Not to mention that you can already see the lower jaw of the transparent lime head - so it looks there's this weird, out-of-place gunmetal thing attached to the sides of their heads. It puzzles me why LEGO didn't repurpose the 'masks-pop-off' function of pressing down on the eyestalks to open and close the jaws, as there was a perfect opportunity for it. Ekimu > Lava Beast > Storm Beast

    Odd

On the UK S@H, Lava Beast, Storm Beast, and Ekimu are available, but Umarak the Destroyer and Quake Beast are not. Don't really see a reason as to why they would be unavailable while the other three 2016 summer wave sets are released...
