  1. This is a fanfic I started yesterday, based on a plot me and my brother made over a decade ago that I happened to write down. I have all the chapters more-or-less planned out, and it looks like there will be 9-10 chapters. Items of note is that it's a very odd take on the characters, but every event of the Adventurers toylines, Lego Racers 2, and Lego Island 1-3 happened in the years those things were released (so between 1997 and 2003). The story picks up (after some flashbacks) two weeks after the end of the Orient Expedition in 2003 and John Marten from the Red Dead Redemption video game exists here as well. There are multiple new villains my brother and I created , that are very simple ideas; Elliot Jackhammer carries a jackhammer as a weapon, Spaceman Stu is an astronaut-turned-mercenary, Robo Man is a dude with a robot arm, and Brute Guy (with no sleeves) is exactly what he sounds like. I hope someone finds some enjoyment in this little story! Here is the review topic: CHAPTER ONE A beautiful green pasture expanded before him. He blinked twice, looked around and couldn’t believe it. He noticed something and hurriedly put his hand to his eye; both eyes were intact. He blinked again, numerous times, and then realized he hadn’t hit his own face with a claw. He stood up from the cool ground and let the sunlight hit him face-on. For a distance in front of him there was only the grass, golden in the sun, with spots of green, and a cool breeze sending shimmers through the blades that glistened with the sun. He relished in the gusts gently washing over his body, holding out his hand and feeling sensation in it for the first time in years. Slowly he realized he knew just where he was. A while out in front of him, past the pasture and past a small bit of sand, was the Phanta Sea. He was on Sandy Bay, the second home he ever knew. He looked around, suddenly realizing his friend should be meeting him here soon. Yes, it was just after nine in the morning. Where was he?! He heard a rustling from behind him, the direction of the town. He turned around and saw his friend, Little Johnny Thunder, running toward him. Tears in his eyes. The golden, glowing pasture began to lose some of its shine. Little Johnny neared him and gave him a hage hug. “Sam! Sam! I’m sorry I’m late! I got detention again!” He was crying on Sam's shoulder now, and Sam pushed him off. “It’s okay, Johnny, now that you’re here we can play!” The two looked out at the large field in front of them. The sunlight was growing darker, and the grass was no longer shining like it was before. Sam looked back to Johnny who was covered in shadows even though they weren’t under a tree nor was there a cloud in the sky. This wasn’t right. This wasn’t how this day went; it was sunny the whole time! They played until it got dark! Why was it going so wrong so fast? Then the dread set in. He grew angry at Johnny for taking away the light, taking away the warmth and sunshine. He didn’t want Johnny there anymore but any time he tried to run away from him, he was still right there. Any time he tried to do something without him, Johnny was suddenly barely behind him. Then he woke up. He had been knocked unconscious just a couple moments earlier; he could tell by the blood on his head that he was hit with a brick. Maybe multiple bricks. He looked around and felt the stinging pain shoot down his spin. There was so much blood he was surprised he became conscious at all. He stood up and started to hear the faint sounds of crashing debris and he realized it wasn’t coming from just one spot, but all around him. He remembered again; the second time today he realized where he was and what was going on, and he hoped this wasn’t the last, because his world was crumbling way faster than last time. He saw an exit from the building collapsing around him and got to his feet. Dashing toward the hole in the wall, he hoped he wasn’t too late; after everything, he wasn’t going to die here, in the destroyed Dragon Temple. He looked to his left while running and saw Emperor Chang Wu’s body under multiple layers of bricks. Last Sam Sinister remembered, Chang Wu had been beaten by Jing Lee along with multiple guards of his and was laying on the floor, and Sam was attempting to outrun a statue come to life. Johnny Thunder must have uncovered the Golden Dragon, which set into motion the destruction of the temple itself. No doubt a failsafe Marco Polo put in when he created the temple years ago, long before Chang Wu took it over. Sam finally made it to the hole in the wall just in time. He jumped through it and landed on the other side just as the doorway collapsed. He looked up and saw the sun again. He looked behind him as he stood up and saw that the entire building was about to crumble, and there was no way off the balcony he found himself on. He heard the sound of a rumbling engine and squinted to see down the dirt road that led to this temple; Johnny Thunder and his horrible friends were careening down the road in their beat up car, with the Golden Dragon itself in the back seat. Johnny and Pippin were in the front seats laughing and joking and barely paying attention to the road. Dr. Kilroy was in the back hanging onto the Dragon, almost falling out of the vehicle, but he was as jubilant as the others, laughing and yelling along with them. How could they be so happy while he suffered so. “I WILL GET YOU YET, JOHNNY THUNDER! JUST YOU--” And before he could finish his sentence, the temple gave way beneath him, and he screamed as darkness shrouded his mind once more. TWO WEEKS LATER... Johnny Thunder was always at the top of his game; whether he was just waking up or had been awake for hours or was mourning the death of his grandfather soon after his graduation, he never let himself slip in any way. He was proud of this fact, and thought he had accomplished much due to this state of mind. But nothing could prepare him for what lay ahead, what lay on the perilous trek of obtaining the Amulet of Wisdom. But on the other side of that coin, Sam Sinister was the most well-prepared he had ever been for the journey that lay ahead… Sam Sinister walked along the road leading to the Brickolini’s Pizzeria, skipping and jubilant. Snap Lockett looked over and grimaced, clearly upset at seeing him there. “Mondo bummer, bro, what the heck is Mr. Hates doing here?” “Mind your business, you simpleton!” Sinister screamed across the street. “And that alias is two years out of date! I’m going by my real name now!” “-Face?” Pepper Roni, skateboarding by, yelled out as he passed. He attempted to hit Sinister but he stepped out of the way just in time. “Whatever,” Pepper added over his shoulder once he was well passed. He kept going, probably delivering a pizza or something else unimportant. Not nearly as important as what Sinister was about to do. He was about to finally end the life of Johnny Thunder. And make the most important discovery he’d ever made. He finally arrived at the Pizzeria and Mama Brickolini greeted him. “Hello! Why, you look a-very familiar!” “Quiet, wench! I require a pizza! Two, maybe!” Sinister said as he entered the building, spotting the table with the guests he invited to this location for a meeting. “That’ll be eight dollars!’ Mama said, holding her hand out for the money. Sinister started rummaging through his multiple pockets but found no bills. He walked over to the table with his colleagues. “Anyone got eight bucks?” Spaceman Stu, Brute Guy (with no sleeves), Jackhammer, and Robo Man all looked up then, surprised to see him and even more surprised to see that he was asking them for money. “Didn’t you ask us here? Shouldn’t you pay?” Robo Man asked. He tensed up and had his arm ready to punch Sinister if need be. “Make no mistake, I have plenty of money, let alone all of the checks to pay you all with once we come to an agreement,” Sinister started saying, sweating and clearly lying, until his sister stepped out of the shadows. “Here’s the money for some pizza.” Alexis Sinister handed Mama Brickolini the bills with an arm Sam Sinister didn’t recognize. It was large, bulky, clearly difficult to use, and the money was being held with a weak suction at the end of what appeared to be a barrel of a large weapon that took the place of her hand. Sam looked at the arm up and down and finally met eyes with his sister. “What happened to you?” he asked, astonished and visibly delighted at her transformation. “Like you don’t know,” she said, “After you abandoned me on Dino Island I had to adapt. After being injured...I built this, using pieces of racers that had crashed there.” “It’s remarkable! How powerful is the weapon?!” “SINISTER! Why did you call us all here?!” Brute Guy (with no sleeves) yelled, fuming. “We all came here with little warning because you promised good pay and a way to get back at Johnny Thunder. How do you plan on doing that?!” Sinister took a moment to sit down and look around the table, a way to assert a little bit of dominance if he could at this point. He had to back track, gain back some the footing he knew he used to have with the criminal underworld. He needed all of this to pan out, and he knew it would. He had no doubt he would make them all rich once this was all over. It was just a matter of going through the motions and getting to that point where he could share the wealth. “My friends, I--” “Most of us barely know you,” Robo Man said. “I’ve never even met you,” Jackhammer said. “Ah, but your reputation precedes you!” Sinister said. “All of yours do! You’re the best of the best. Robbers, globe-trotters, assassins. There isn’t one of you I would trust. And that’s exactly why I called you all here. I have a fool-proof plan to kill Johnny Thunder, once and for all.” Mama Brickolini perked up from her piano. “We’re going to lure him to Technician Bob’s space shuttle… where a bomb is waiting for him.” “How do you know he’ll be correctly lured?! What do you have as bait?” Robo Man asked. The others seemed to be getting angry, glaring at Sinister. “If this doesn’t work Thunder will be after all of us!” “It will work! I swear it!” Sinister cried. He needed to work on sounding confident. “I sent Thunder a note, from myself, that his partner and best friend Pippin Reed has been captured and brought to Technician Bob’s lab. Once he arrives, I will activate the bomb. In fact…” Sinister looked out the window and saw Johnny Thunder heading in the direction of the Space Station. He went to the window and watched as Johnny disappeared from sight. He took out a pair of binoculars and watched. The others were ducking under the table at this point, hopeful Johnny didn’t notice them as he walked by. Apparently he hadn’t, and Sinister watched as Johnny, halfway across the island on top of Space Mountain, boarded the space shuttle. He could barely contain his joy when he pressed the button to detonate his bomb. There was a loud boom and everything went quiet for a moment. Mama ran to the window next to Sam and looked out; all she could see from here was flames on top of the mountain. Big, red and orange flames, growing higher, with smoke reaching out toward the heavens. “Must be another one of-a Bob’s experiments gone wrong!” she exclaimed, and Papa behind the counter seemed completely unperturbed. He’d barely looked up when the explosion happened. The other villains looked around in disbelief at each other. “This is an elaborate joke, right? Johnny Thunder can’t be dead. That was the dumbest plot you’ve had yet,” Robo Man said, putting up the hood of his large parka. The robotic implants on his arm made him constantly cold. “Quiet, imbecile! You cannot comprehend the ingeniousness of it all! I’ve finally done it and you’re questioning me?! You will want part of what comes next.” “Then tell us what comes next! If Johnny Thunder really is dead, we need to act quick! We’ll be found out as soon as someone sees us!” Alexis Sinister looked over to Mama Brickolini at her piano who didn’t seem to be paying much attention. “Yes, yes, of course! So let me tell you what we all need to do now.” Sam dug into another pocket of his after putting up his binoculars. He strolled over to the table and Jackhammer moved his jackhammer so Sinister could take a seat. Sam pulled out a piece of paper that was worn on the edges and was incredibly dirty, no doubt worn nearly beyond legibility. “On this parchment is one of the long lost writings of Ignatious Amelio himself!” “Ignatious Amelio?! Impossible! All of his writings were destroyed when the Lego City Museum burned down years ago!” Jackhammer said. Sinister wasn’t expecting him to chime in, and gave him a knowing look. “Don’t think we all don’t know that was your doing, Elliot!” Sam said to Jackhammer. He blushed and sank into his chair at the use of his real name. “This item was never in the museum. They advertised they had found every piece related to Ignatious but they hadn’t! Johnny had assumed and that’s what the museum went with! Johnny missed quite a lot of things, this map is the most important.” When he didn’t continue, just looked around grinning, Alexis spoke up, mouth full of pizza. “And? What’s on the paper?” she asked. “A map!” “That much is obvious!” Brute Guy was getting impatient, an annoying trait, Sam thought. “What on Lego Mania does it lead to?!” “It leads to pieces of another map,” Sam said as everyone on the table rolled their eyes. “Once this map is fully complete it leads to an object here referred to as The Amulet of Wisdom.” Everyone’s mouths gaped open in astonishment. “Yes, the very amulet referred to in the most ancient texts we’ve recovered as a species. Dating back to near the time the Infomaniac created the first minifigures, almost forty zillion years. The most powerful of all things, the ability to see and know all! It could be ours. Or we will sell it and split the earnings, it would no doubt bring us fortune beyond what we could ever hope!” The others sat, stunned. All of what he was saying was true; the Amulet of Wisdom was talked about in multiple ancient texts, and scripture even, but no one had written of it beyond referencing that text in zillions of years. It was long since believed to have either been destroyed, lost to time, or just a complete myth to begin with. It was said to grant all the knowledge in the world at once. Which could drive you mad, most people assumed, so perhaps this was why it was no longer around. It would be the find of not only the century (which was young) but it would be the find of their entire civilization. “I’m in,” Jackhammer was resolute. “Me, too,” Alexis chimed in. “I wanna know everything,” Brute Guy (with no sleeves) yelled. Sinister looked over to Robo Man and Spaceman Stu, awaiting their response. “Screw it, I’m in too,” said Robo Man. Spaceman Stu simply nodded. “Great. We are all on board then!” Sam was getting excited. All according to plan. “I’ve made a copy of this map, and we will divide into groups to get our map segments. Once we have our segment, we will rendezvous at the Cognac in Nesheem; Alexis, our usual meeting place. Everyone must be prepared; be on your feet! There’s no telling how you will need to acquire the piece once you arrive at the location specified.” “So we’re goin’ in blind?” Brute Guy was getting angry again, and Sinister was getting tired of it. “God, you dolt, of course! This is unprecedented territory! It’s up to you to get your piece of the map, the reward will be worth any difficulties you face!” Brute Guy grunted. Sam continued, “Now, I'll hand you what piece you'll go after. Team ups are fine, as well. However we want to do this, and it doesn’t matter how long it takes us. Remember, Johnny Thunder will no longer be a problem.” Sam started snickering, jubilant as ever that his adversary was dead once for all. There’s no coming back from what he did to him. That space shuttle was absolutely obliterated, and no one on Lego Island even seemed to care what had happened, so he was in the clear. He figured no one would even find out, most people on this small island were the stupidest people he had ever met. Sure, Pepper Roni had thwarted his plans on Dino Island a couple years ago which set him way back right before the big races started, but that seemed more like dumb luck than anything. He decided he’d never team up with Brickster again after that. Sam handed each person a copy of the map; Sam explained he had circled a piece of the larger map for each of them to find, one piece per copy, and he handed them out randomly. “Let’s get to it, my friends!” Brute Guy (with no sleeves) spoke up, yet again. Sam thought he would have to shoot the man at some point. “We’re not friends, Sinister! I’ll be happy to be rid of you once this is all over!” Sam wanted to shoot him in the stomach him right there. He withheld. “Right then, see you all later! Remember to keep in radio contact with updates!’ Sam tossed the last thing he had for them; little walkies. They each caught one, one after the other. “Sam, I--” Alexis started, but by the time she looked up from catching her walkie Sam had already dashed out the door and was heading for the nearby airport. The other shot up and ran after him, not wanting to miss out on any planes or helicopters he could steal before them. Once every mercenary and hired help was out of the Pizzeria and it was quiet again, Mama Brickolini took one last look around to confirm no one was around any longer. She grabbed her face and pulled off a mask to reveal… Johnny Thunder himself! Secretly undercover as Mama Brickolini since before Sinister stepped inside. He took the pizza hat off and handed it to Mama as she walked in from the kitchen, who slapped it on her head. “I didn’t-a know you were good at the piano!” she exclaimed. “Theres a lot people don’t know about me!” Johnny flashed her a smile and put on his fedora, flipping the brim with a snap while he winked and stepped outside, shedding the red shirt and apron. “Alright, mates, on yer feet!” Johnny said to a couple of bushes. Dr. Ethan Kilroy and Mrs. Pippin Reed rose from the brush and dusted leaves off themselves as they stepped over and around the shrubbery to meet Johnny. “Did you guys get all that? That dastardly Sinister tried to kill me again!” “G-good thing we anticipated his actions, J-Johnny! We had George, our good friend, be your decoy! Too bad he died with the space shuttle!” Dr Kilroy lamented. Johnny perked up, “He knew what he was getting into! We couldn’t have stopped him without alerting Sinister to our presence! But we need to focus on that Amulet! Do you think he’s telling the truth?” “I see no reason to believe he’d go to all this trouble without knowing exactly what he’s doing. I think we seriously have something to worry about!” Pippin was pacing, considering their situation, and even larger, the situation the whole world may be in soon if they didn’t do anything. “Doctor, did you have a chance to get a picture or video of that map he’s got?” Johnny snapped his fingers at Kilroy, knowing his friend well enough to know he would try to get all the info he could. “I-I’m afraid not! He always had it facing directly up, I wasn’t at a good position in the bush to get a clear look or shot!” Kilroy was gesticulating wildly with his arms, and grabbed at Pippin’s camera around her neck. She swatted him off. “Well we’re in a mighty fine predicament then, aren’t we! No matter! We always find a way!” Johnny skipped a bit as he started pacing as well, excited for the possibilities this new adventure so soon after the last one would rear. “I reck’n you guys might need the help of an expert,” an unfamiliar voice rung out from a ways away. All three looked up at the same time, mouths gaped open and staring blankly. “Who the heck’re you, then, ah?!” Johnny yelled out at the man. He was of average height and wore what Johnny could only describe as cowboy clothes. Boots, a hat not unlike his own, a leather vest and black gloves. He had a horse by his side, large and strong and pooping. “Ah’m John Marsten,” he said, hoarsely. “And I know where the pieces of yer map are.”
  2. An alternate model for set 5975 T-Rex Transport. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h1Omwlyg20 "But Tazakk!" you say. "Why would you choose to share this MOC in a low-resolution video, rather than individual photographs that give us a clearer view of the model?" Good question! It's because this is my entry for the ReBrick "Be the Special" Competition. I chose to use a video to present the model in an attempt to make the presentation more interactive and engaging for the judges. Speaking of the fact that this model is being entered in a competition, you're certainly welcome to head over to ReBrick and like my entry. The 10 entries with the most likes go on to be considered by the judges.
  3. Note from Director Steven Spielbrick: What you are about to read is the script of a deleted scene from the upcoming blockbuster, The LEGO Movie, soon to be in theaters. The script was written by Frank, best known for his screenwriting of the 2002 blockbuster The Johnny Thunder Movie when he wasn't writing love letters to lead actress Giselle and crying in a corner in the commissary because he was too cowardly to actually give her any of those love letters. There is some speculation by Dr. Albert Overbuild that this script was actually ghostwritten by another individual who wrote this scene just to stroke his already-inflated ego, although Johnny Thunder denies any of these accusations. This scene was written entirely as a homage to fan-favorite LEGO lines and games from the late nineties, exploiting fan nostalgia to its maximum levels. I promise that only reason we left this on the cutting room floor is because of running time, and most certainly not because of any allegations that I am a cheapskate who refused to pay the cast and crew to film this scene. Scene 24 FADE IN. The shot opens with a low-angle shot of a hill, with dark and stormy clouds in the background. Occasionally, the sky is brightened by a flash of lightning. When filming this, be sure to tell the best boy Eddie to make sure that gaffer Hank doesn't electrocute himself with the lighting equipment again, even though it would produce the desired effect if we want it to look like lightning. The music should be dark and foreboding, with the only other sounds being wind and the distant rumbling of thunder. On that note, make sure the gofers bring coffee to Unit 2 cameraman Nero so he won't fall asleep while shooting again, since it takes forever to edit out his snoring in post. And make sure it's an espresso, not a latte or mocha, because it takes even longer to edit out the sound of Nero screaming at the gofer who brought him the wrong cup of coffee. The music crescendos, becoming less dark and foreboding and giving way to a march that is most certainly not a cheap knock-off of the "Raiders March." Enter JOHNNY THUNDER, who climbs up the hill before standing proudly and triumphantly at the top, fixing his hat and staring off into the distance. As the march hits its most dramatic and emotional peak, complete with ominous Latin chanting, the backlighting turns bright and angelic, as though the sun is rising directly behind JOHNNY THUNDER (again, make sure Hank doesn't electrocute himself), sure to give this scene some faux symbolism that will leave literary critics scratching their heads for years and wondering, "What does it mean? Obviously, it means Johnny Thunder is awesome, but surely there must be an even deeper meaning!" Text flashes at the bottom of the screen, reading: "5900: Adventurer Johnny Thunder available at your local toy store! Only $4.25!" JOHNNY THUNDER: Aces! Good on ya, Johnny! If that bludger Lord Business and his dodgy Robot SWAT Team think they could hold the Thunder himself prisoner aboard that dropship, they've got kangaroos loose in their paddock! CUT TO AERIAL SHOT of the nearby wreckage of the crashed police dropship. Text flashes at the bottom of the screen, reading: "70815: Police Dropship available at your local toy story! Only $69.99!" CUT back to JOHNNY THUNDER standing on the hill. This time, he is joined by the Rock Raiders CHIEF, who climbs up the hill to stand beside him. He is not accompanied by dramatic music or angelic lighting because he is not as awesome as JOHNNY THUNDER. However, he gets to appear in this scene because we're exploiting fan nostalgia. After all, that's the reason why we have JOHNNY THUNDER, BENNY, and other classic figures for no reason other than to make older LEGO fans swoon while younger LEGO fans are confused, failing to recognize their significance. Those poor children. CHIEF frowns and crosses his arms, glaring at JOHNNY THUNDER, most likely jealous of how awesome he is. CHIEF: You know, I did help! If it weren't for me, we'd- JOHNNY THUNDER: Oh, of course you wanted to get in on a bit of the action, Chief! Doesn't everyone dream of the opportunity that they may have the chance to work with the Thunder himself? Well, mate, today's your lucky day! CHIEF: Rather than standing idly on this hill like it's a sandwich break, I'd rather resume our mission to stop Lord Business! But we can't do this alone... we need the other Master Builders. I don't know how many of the others escaped, but I overheard Vitruvius grumbling that the Infomaniac was not present at the meeting in Cloud Cuckoo Land. Perhaps we can a landslide has occurred! BEAT. CHIEF covers his mouth and looks sheepish. JOHNNY THUNDER does not appear to have noticed his sudden outburst, instead staring off into space while stroking his chin. We need a few seconds of silence that will most likely be drowned out by the laughter of older LEGO Rock Raiders fans and a chorus of confused "What just happened?" cries from the younger audience before we continue. CHIEF: Err, sorry about that. I've got a plan for the mission! We gather some resources and... are you even listening? JOHNNY THUNDER: Hmm... let's see... aha! The Thunder has a plan! Of course he does, he always does! CHIEF: But I was just about to brief you on- JOHNNY THUNDER: There's gotta be a map somewhere in Lord Business's evil lair that shows the routes that the police dropships will follow after leavin' Cloud Cuckoo Land with the captured Master Builders. And once I have a map, I can find anythin', whether it's a Golden Dragon or a Green Ninja! But first, I'll need to explore Lord Business's evil lair to find this map, and before I do that, I'll need to find the evil lair in the first place... CHIEF: Alright, fine. I'll check my handheld geological scanner to see if I can locate... Camera REVOLVES around JOHNNY THUNDER and CHIEF and ZOOMS OUT, revealing Octan Headquarters towering before them. Dramatic musical stinger plays. Text flashes at the bottom of the screen, reading: "70809: Lord Business's Evil Lair available at your local toy store! Only $69.99!" CHIEF: Oh, there it is. JOHNNY THUNDER: Chief, you stay here and contact the Infomaniac. The Thunder is going in! CHIEF: Wait! You can't just walk into Octan Headquarters like that! JOHNNY THUNDER: Hmm, that'd be right. I'm so famous, everyone will recognize me the moment I step my foot in that door, and then I'd be taken apart faster than some shonky MegaBloks rubbish! I can't believe it, a situation where no one is allowed to notice the Thunder! Those poor fangirls will have to wait! JOHNNY THUNDER takes off his hat and rubs his forehead. JOHNNY THUNDER: Think, Thunder, think! That one other Master Builder... the one always wearin' his underwear on the outside... what was his name? CHIEF: Clark? JOHNNY THUNDER: Yeah, that's it. Clark. What did he say to do in such a situation? CUT to Cloud Cuckoo Palace, filmed in black-and-white to indicate that this is a flashback and, more importantly, to cut costs of filming. While other Master Builders mingle in the background, SUPERMAN is speaking to JOHNNY THUNDER, who isn't paying much attention and is instead attempting but failing miserably to flirt with WYLDSTYLE. JOHNNY THUNDER also fails to notice BATMAN in the background, angered by the flirting, repeatedly throwing batarangs at him but missing every time. SUPERMAN: If you're ever in a situation where you need to go unnoticed, find a phone booth and wear glasses. JOHNNY THUNDER: Yeah, mate. Goin' unnoticed. Doubt I'll ever have to give it a burl- A batarang finally hits JOHNNY THUNDER and knocks him out of the shot. SUPERMAN and a few other Master Builders gasp. BATMAN performs a fist pump. BATMAN: First try! CUT back to JOHNNY THUNDER in front of Octan Headquarters. He grins and puts his hat back on. If he had fingers, he would snap them. JOHNNY THUNDER: Ripper! Find a phone booth, wear glasses! CHIEF: Oh, brilliant. But where can we find a phone booth in these modern... JOHNNY THUNDER: Well, ain't this a beaut? Have a gander at this, 'cause there's one right there! PAN to a blue police box situated just outside Octan Headquarters. CHIEF: Okay, Johnny Thunder! Go for it while I contact the Infomaniac. Good luck on your mission! And watch out for those landslides - I mean, Robot Feds! CHIEF leaves the shot to contact the Infomaniac. Or, at least, that's what he claims to be doing. In reality, we all know that he is actually going on a sandwich break. JOHNNY THUNDER runs to the blue police box, opens the door, steps inside, and closes the door behind him. JOHNNY THUNDER: Crikey, it's a lot bigger on the inside! The door opens and JOHNNY THUNDER steps out of the police box. He is now wearing a disguise: a grey fedora, a pair of sunglasses, a fake mustache, a sleeveless leather vest, a satchel, and green pants. JOHNNY THUNDER: Wicked, they'll never recognize me now in this disguise! They'll take a butcher's hook and say, "There's no way that's the fair dinkum Thunder. That's some lousy motorcyclist Thunder-wannabe!" Maybe they'll even write a ton of fan mail askin' me to come back and kick this stupid motorcyclist in the hip piece! Now, time to find that map... CUT to the Octan conference room, where there is low lighting and low, sinister music playing in the background. At the start of the shot, make sure the camera focus is on a large map of the globe, in order to highlight that Gilligan Cut between JOHNNY THUNDER saying "map" and the fact that we're cutting to a map. It's supposed to be clever. Then, PAN OUT to gradually reveal the rest of the room, including PRESIDENT BUSINESS and EVIL OGEL, who are sitting at the conference table and talking. At the end of the shot, FOCUS IN on a giant brick-built taco in the room, promoting the upcoming Taco Tuesday with a sign that ends with the following message: "Please do not rebuild this into something that will help you defeat the bad guys." Just some subtle foreshadowing. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: ... but after that incident with the noodles, I've been trying for days to sink Benny's classic spaceship, but every unit I send out to do the job ends up spontaneously combusting and falling through the floor! EVIL OGEL: Those minions are only good for tossing out a window to relieve some stress. You cannot rely on them, which is why you must pay close attention to every word I say. Heeding my advice could mean the difference between failure and victory. Now, listen: when we send out the giant plastic badger, we... Enter JOHNNY THUNDER. PRESIDENT BUSINESS and EVIL OGEL both stop talking and stare at him. When each character speaks, make sure WIDE-ANGLE LENS is used in a CLOSE-UP SHOT. Despite how many films try to do this and only look awkward and uncomfortable, we will get it right! Maybe. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: Who are you? JOHNNY THUNDER: Err, yes. Hello. My name is John... son... uh... Thun... doo... yeah. And I'm here to clean your block. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: Ah, Johnson Thundoo? You sure look nothing like that Johnny Thunder fellow. JOHNNY THUNDER: Of course not! The Thunder is a brave and awesome hero! I'm a mean, rebellious, law-breakin', motorcycle-ridin' Thunder-wannabe son of a MegaBlok! PRESIDENT BUSINESS: Hold on. Do correct me if I'm mistaken, but did you just say that you break the law? Surely, we don't want any of that around here, now, do we? JOHNNY THUNDER: Uh... of course not. I said, I'm a mean, rebellious... err, law-abidin'... motorcycle-ridin' Thunder-wannabe son of a MegaBlok... yeah. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: Oh, good! That's a very good thing to hear, or else I would have you put to sleep! Err, I mean, uh, yes, pleased to meet you, Mr. Thundoo! It's so hard finding villains who are willing to work with me... most of the time, they're just out to break the law and spread chaos. Not like Ogel here, who's perfectly happy with enforcing rules with an iron fist! Or a plastic hook, in this case. EVIL OGEL: Yes, President Business. Mr. Thundoo, I welcome you to the Organization of Great Evil Laughter. That's O.G.E.L., which spells "Ogel". Quite ingenious, isn't it? I came up with it myself! Now, please, take a seat and make yourself uncomfortable while I get back to Business. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: "Back to Business." Oh, that's clever! JOHNNY THUNDER takes a seat next to the giant taco. I bet you never expected to ever read that sentence in a movie script. JOHNNY THUNDER: Hey, mate, why is LEGO Island blinkin' red on that map? EVIL OGEL: Ah, you're just in time to witness the launch of a rocket from the spaceport on LEGO Island! Once launched, it will release its cargo and blanket the Earth with Evil Orbs that will put everyone under my mind-control so I can usurp Lord Business and rule the world... I mean, uh, just kidding! Pretend that you didn't hear that! PRESIDENT BUSINESS: Oh, I love this guy! He's so funny! What a joker! But, in full seriousness, we've got that rocket loaded with a bunch of micro-managers that will take over the world, and there's no one who can stop us! Those Master Builders have been a thorn in my side long enough! JOHNNY THUNDER: Yeah? Well, this thorn is about to take you down! JOHNNY THUNDER jumps out of his seat and rips off his disguise. A triumphant fanfare plays, and the lighting in the room brightens (keep an eye on Hank). PRESIDENT BUSINESS and EVIL OGEL gasp in astonishment. PRESIDENT BUSINESS: You're not Johnson Thundoo! You're... uh... Ogel, who is this? EVIL OGEL: Johnny Thunder! I'll have you sent to the Melting Room for this! Text flashes at the bottom of the screen, reading: "70801: Melting Room available at your local toy store! Only $12.99!" JOHNNY THUNDER: G'day, mates! Thunder's the name, building's the game! And it's time to blow this taco stand! JOHNNY THUNDER disassembles the giant taco and rebuilds it into an explosive escape catapult. The catapult launches him out a nearby window as it explodes. SLOW-MOTION SHOT of JOHNNY THUNDER flying through the air with the explosions behind him, complete with epic music playing in the background. The explosions serve no real purpose, but it'll be great trailer footage. JOHNNY THUNDER lands conveniently in a fountain outside Octan Headquarters, because if there's one thing we learn from videogames, it's that water negates fall damage, so therefore audience's suspension of disbelief won't be broken. As JOHNNY THUNDER emerges from the fountain, the camera is focused on him, although CHIEF can be seen in the background out-of-focus. JOHNNY THUNDER: Crikey, that was a close one! The other Master Builders will have to wait; I gotta stop that rocket from launchin'! But, how will I get to LEGO Island in time? It’s a back o' Bourke from here! CHIEF: A landslide has occurred! JOHNNY THUNDER cries out in surprise and spins around. FOCUS IN on CHIEF. JOHNNY THUNDER: Chief! Good to see you again, mate! Did you contact the Infomaniac? CHIEF: Yes, I did. I'll brief you on the good news and bad news. The good news is that the Infomaniac is safe; he explained that he was unable to attend the meeting due to having to attend some annual tug-of-war competition held over a shark's bay, but he was hoping to arrive fashionably late. By the time he arrived, everyone was gone... the Master Builders, the Robot SWAT Team, and even the LEGO Studios film crew! That's why he didn't have a cameo appearance earlier in this film like you did. After that, he returned home to LEGO Island... and that's where the bad news comes in. JOHNNY THUNDER: That'd be right, mate. Listen, I gotta rock up at LEGO Island as quickly as possible, and I ain't got time for a walkabout. CHIEF: I can help you build a Teleport Pad that will send you there instantly! Even better, we don't need to worry about following any complicated procedures or overly-convoluted mechanics in constructing such a teleporter. We're Master Builders; we don't need to follow the instruction manual! Just... don't tell my Rock Raider cadets I said that, or else they'll never listen to another thing I teach them at the academy, and then I'll be a landslide has occurred! JOHNNY THUNDER: You little ripper! Let's build this Teleport Pad and stop that rocket! Let's hope that audiences will ignore the fact that we’re only using CHIEF as a blatant Mr. Exposition and deus ex machina in addition to exploiting fan nostalgia. JOHNNY THUNDER and CHIEF quickly disassemble the fountain and rebuild it into a Teleport Pad. CHIEF salutes JOHNNY THUNDER as the latter steps into the Teleport Pad. The scene around JOHNNY THUNDER dissolves in a bright flash of light (okay, maybe just this once, let Hank accidentally electrocute himself for the best results). As the light fades away, JOHNNY THUNDER finds himself in front of the Information Center on LEGO Island. Text flashes at the bottom of the screen, reading: "5731: Information Center available at... oh, wait, LEGO hasn't produced that set yet." JOHNNY THUNDER looks around and sees the Super-Secret Police terrorizing the town populace in a lengthy MASTER SHOT. The camera lingers for a moment on PEPPER RONI throwing pizzas at one Robo SWAT, which is unaffected. PEPPER RONI: Whoa! Man, these bad robot dudes are nothing like the Brickster-Bots! When the camera returns to JOHNNY THUNDER, he turns around and meets the INFOMANIAC, who is clearly distressed and acting even more erratic than usual. JOHNNY THUNDER: G'day, Infomaniac! How- INFOMANIAC: Hello! Hola! Velkommen... oh, forget the usual spiel! There is no time! This should be enough: welcome to LEGO Island! Please sign the Big Blue Brick Book and, oh, no, don't sign it, we haven't got time! Oh, this is terrible! We're in danger, Johnny! Not only are all these dastardly robots everywhere, but- JOHNNY THUNDER: A big, bad rocket is gonna blast off from the spaceport, I know. How could this happen? How did you let Ogel build the rocket here? INFOMANIAC: Ogel? Well, then, I'll bet that no-good Brickster is behind this, somehow! That crook is always proclaiming himself to be Ogel's fanboy! Now, I've got a brilliant plan to stop them, but if only I could remember what it is! JOHNNY THUNDER: No worries! I once knew this lad named Zack... INFOMANIAC: Zack? JOHNNY THUNDER: He's a LEGO maniac. And he once told me, "GOTTA BUILD LIKE CRAZY!" INFOMANIAC: Eureka, that's it! INFOMANIAC runs inside the Information Center and comes back out with the Constructopedia in his hands. INFOMANIAC: Lord Business is all about following the rules; sticking to the instructions and nothing else! This book... it gives him strength! We need to stop following the instructions! Think outside the Constructopedia! INFOMANIAC tears a page out of the Constructopedia. Behind him, the Information Center deconstructs and its bricks fly up into the sky. JOHNNY THUNDER and INFOMANIAC watch the bricks as they disappear, then INFOMANIAC sheepishly sticks the page back into the Constructopedia, causing the bricks to reappear and rebuild the Information Center. INFOMANIAC: I... probably could have thought that one through a little better. Okay, forget tearing the pages out of the Constructopedia. JOHNNY THUNDER and INFOMANIAC disassemble the Information Center, manually this time, and rebuild it into a crazy flying vehicle that would probably never fly in real life, but that’s okay because this is LEGO and not real life. As a song that is most certainly not a cheap knock-off of "Flight of the Valkyries" plays, they hop into the flying vehicle and take off. CUT to AERIAL TRACKING SHOT of the flying vehicle as it passes over the Super-Secret Police down below. JOHNNY THUNDER: Crikey! I've got a gut feelin' that those bots will stop us from stoppin' that rocket if we don't stop them from stoppin' us from stoppin' that rocket! INFOMANIAC: Quick, a trick! With green bricks and red bricks... INFOMANIAC pushes a button. CUT to TILT DOWN SHOT as the flying vehicle starts dropping green and red bricks, then a FOLLOW SHOT of the bricks as they fall upon the robots. The bricks block the robots' paths and trap them in the center of the island. The LEGO Island civilians cheer. CUT back to JOHNNY THUNDER and INFOMANIAC. INFOMANIAC: They stay! JOHNNY THUNDER: Good on ya, mate! We're almost at the spaceport! The flying vehicle lands atop Space Mountain, next to the spaceport. JOHNNY THUNDER and INFOMANIAC jump out of the vehicle and run to mission control, running towards the camera in slow-motion, but they stop in shock upon seeing the off-screen minifigure at the control panel. JOHNNY THUNDER: Crikey! Well, I'll be stuffed! Isn't that the friendly mechanic who works at the gas station? INFOMANIAC: It cannot be! In all my years, I would never have thought it would be you... Nubby Stevens! LOW-ANGLE SHOT of NUBBY STEVENS operating mission control, surrounded by Robo SWAT bodyguards and looking as evil and sinister as a friendly mechanic working at your local gas station can be. Dramatic music stinger plays. NUBBY STEVENS: Hmm, I wonder who you might have been expecting. The Brickster? Don't be ridiculous... he's a criminal, a law-breaker, not at all the type of villain that President Business would hire! I, on the other hand, have been working at the Octan gas station here on LEGO Island for all these years. It only makes sense that my CEO would want a trusted employee to oversee the launch of Ogel's rocket! It's like I always say: life is like a skateboard... because you can grind it beneath your feet! INFOMANIAC: Nubby, please, listen to me! You don't want to do this! If you launch that rocket, Lord Business will take over the world! NUBBY STEVENS: I'm tired of always asking why we're yellow and what's an elbow and all those other philosophical questions. Sometimes, the answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything is to rule it all! And nobody can stop me! JOHNNY THUNDER: Listen, ya fancy yabberin' wuss. Do you know who you're dealin' with? NUBBY STEVENS: Why, you're... JOHNNY THUNDER: The name's Johnny Thunder. Australian. Master Builder. And the minifigure who's gonna burn Octan Corporation to the ground! You know what? I've got writer's block. Just blow the whole movie's budget on some cool action sequence with lots of explosions. After that's over, JOHNNY THUNDER stands victoriously in front of Brickolini's Pizzeria, with the entire population of LEGO Island (except NUBBY STEVENS, for obvious reasons) crowding around him and cheering. JOHNNY THUNDER: Aces, we did it! We gave Nubby a drubbin' and stopped that rocket! I'd daresay that was the most excitin' adventure I've been on yet! PEPPER RONI: Dude, thanks for foiling Nubby's evil plan, stopping that rocket, and saving LEGO Island! INFOMANIAC: The day has been saved thanks to Johnny Thunder! Let's throw a celebration! JOHNNY THUNDER: I'd be stoked to stay and celebrate, mates, but adventure is callin'! My fellow Master Builders are in peril, and Lord Business is still at large, and only I can stop him and save the world! INFOMANIAC: Are you ready to leave LEGO Island? Thanks for the visit, and you're welcome to come back anytime! JOHNNY THUNDER climbs back into the crazy flying machine and waves goodbye to the citizens of LEGO Island, then takes off. CUT to LONG SHOT of LEGO Island. JOHNNY THUNDER flies towards the camera, and the shot freezes on him winking to the audience, sure to make any girls in the audience swoon. FADE OUT. And now, for something completely different: the boring adventures of Emmet. ----- EDIT 1/14/14: Performed a revision, as per Aanchir's suggestions. Less LEGO trivia (the Boggle Rocket Mk. II, the gameplay mechanics required to build a Teleport Pad, etc.). Chief now appears at the beginning of the story, and the Infomaniac is discussed by Thunder and Chief early on to give some lead-up to his later appearance.
  4. Hello everyone! Recently I found this curious scan in a folder on Brickshelf. It is probably from the January February 1998 issue of LEGO Bricks and Pieces magazine, from the United Kingdom, and as you can see it advertises a LEGO Adventurers themed cartoon. Unfortunately, I don't know anything more - and neither does the rest of the internet, as best as I can tell. So, I'm here today to ask you if you might happen to know anything more about this cartoon. Any new information at all would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I've seen many people find old Lego games by asking other users on these forums, therefore I'm willing to give this a shot... Been looking through pages and pages of the internet archive and none of them seem to want to load the game. I'm looking for the old Johnny Thunder game called "The Lost Treasure of Ancient Greece". I would much appreciate any kind of working link, whether it be an archive, a direct flash link, a re-upload onto another website, or even a download. During my searches I found this post; http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=6451 but the link to download seems to be dead, yet the OP's reaction shows that it was available at some point. Is there any other way to acces this game or is it a lost cause? (sorry if I've mis-typed my post in any way or started this topic the wrong way; I just joined and I'm still trying to get a handle on the forum and question asking basics)
  6. I was browsing the internet when, to my complete surprise, I found this website for the Canadian animation company "theskonkworks."What's most interesting is this page, which includes a pitch for a Johnny Thunder TV show! The main picture and description link to a PDF file, while the smaller "Johnny Thunder" print below links to the actual pitch. It seems old enough that I doubt anything ever came of it (especially with the Ninjago TV show starting up), but its quite interesting just the same. So, what do you think? And if this is old news or anything, my apologies.
