  1. Hi guys, This Halloween, my dad and I carved a rough approximation of the Kanohi Hau. It's not that fancy, but it looks nice enough and I'm proud enough to display it here. I invite others to show their Bionicle-O-Lanterns. Pumpkanohi Hau by Relicblade, on Flickr" If this picture doesn't show up, then I'm sorry, but here's the direct link. I've linked Photobucket before directly without any problems, but if this is against forum policy, well... do whatever. Pumpkanohi Hau by Relicblade, on Flickr
  2. I've finally completed the Hau I started last summer! It started as a Pepakura model thanks to CrunchBiteNuva, then I Modge Podged it and poured casting resin on the inside to strengthen it. I then spray-painted it and it kinda sat around forever looking a bit sloppy... it didn't have a way to stay on my head, the paint job was messy, and the lines from the base model still showed. So, the other night I took it and sanded the Karzahni out of it until it was smoother. From there, though, I kept going: I've always liked the feel of the original comics, where the Toa were scratched and scuffed, and did my best to translate that into this mask. I scarred it a bit with a Dremel drill and knife to simulate damage, and to break up some of the remaining lines, then added primer: Once I was satisfied with the "damage" I moved on the the actual paint. I gave it a nice shiny red coat... then sanded and scratched it up, using the Exacto knife to expose some of the primer layer while the sanding dulled the finish. Overall, it worked well. The damage looks fairly natural, and the scuffing and less shiny paint job makes the lines less noticeable. The whole thing looks more like an actual, used mask now like I always imagined. I couldn't get a good picture of the whole mask, but here's a part: EDIT: I added some more weathering to the mask and now I'm completely done messing with it. I took a black oil pastel (for lack of better materials), put a bit on all the scuffed areas, then rubbed it around really well and wiped it off. This left "dirt" in the scratches in a fairly organic way, making the damage seem a bit smoother and more realistic. My sole dissatisfaction in the weathering came when I tried to fill some of the deeper marks with a small amount of borrowed black nail polish. It didn't wipe off quite like I'd hoped, and stayed darker than I wanted. However, it covered over the areas where paper was showing so I can live with it. I'll say they're scorch marks. I'll put up more pictures soon. The button there is part of how it's held on my head: I drilled two holes in the mask, painted some buttons, and used them to secure a ring and part of a hunting rifle strap I got for $1 at Goodwill like thus: The adjustable strap keeps it on, the foam keeps it in the right place and keeps my chin comfy, and the mesh keeps my face partially obscured while allowing me to see. I've also since added some foam in the forehead for comfort and position. Final note: it's pretty tough. I accidentally hit my head pretty hard on a table corner while wearing it, and the blow just bounced off the mask and didn't leave a mark. So there it is, my finished Hau! It's not perfect, but for a first completed Pepakura project I'm pretty pleased.
  3. I was wondering- do you take your mask to other places with you? I some times do this so they kind act as good-luck charms or something. So, yeah, just wondering if you did the same.
  4. oh yes indeed So I'd started this project about six months before BrickFair NE, then it kind of stagnated over winter, then when the weather finally got nice again I rushed to finish it. It is my green Hau. If anyone actually reads my blog, you might remember me posting this picture a long while ago. That was the very beginning of it. Well, not the very beginning of it, but certainly the beginning of the project side of it. Basically, this is how it went. Step 1: Papercraft I got a Hau Pepakura file from CrunchbiteNuva, and then printed it out (well, my friend did since he had Pepakura and I didn't). Then I did the usual papercraft thing, cutting out the pieces and gluing them together. That's what you see in the initial picture. Step 2: Resin and other hardening Taking the paper (cardstock, actually) Hau, I painted the outside with fiberglass resin, which hardened it into a more rigid form. From there, we mixed fiberglass resin with Bondo glass (Bondo is a filler putty used in automotive stuff; Bondo glass is that, but with fiberglass shards mixed in) so it was a thick soupy mixture, then rotocasted it. Essentially putting a big glob of it in the back of the mask and swirling the whole thing around until the entire thing was covered. This was the result of that. At that point, the paper was irrelevant; it was essentially a fiberglass/Bondo mask. Step 3: Procrastinate As I mentioned, there were a couple of months of downtime while everything was covered with snow and getting into the campus resin lab place was a roll of the dice. Step 4: Sanding LOTS OF SANDING Starting with really rough 40-grit sandpaper, I took off the edges and corners, making the general shape smoother. Then I moved to 100-grit, then 300-something-grit, to take off all the scrapes left by the sandpaper itself. I think that's as far as I sanded it before… Step 5: Priming I applied many, many coats of some Rustoleum automotive primer. I sanded petween those coats, too, to make sure the end result looked good. Then, and this is the fun part, I used 1000-grit wet-sanding paper to make it shiny. After priming it, the sanding process would literally leave it so that there'd be glare reflecting off it from the sun. (This was the point in the project, which always happens, when you finally realize that holy cow, this thing is coming together.) It was ridiculously smooth. Unfortunately, this didn't really carry over to the… Step 6: Painting Of course, what's the point in priming if you're not going to paint it? First I tried using green Krylon Fusion paint, but I kind of ran out way too soon. Plus, I'd had trouble with Krylon in the past, so I went for some more Rustoleum, since it seemed to be of good quality (though it was a bit darker and took an entire day to dry). What with the drying time and the approaching deadline, this is where things got a bit rushed. Each coat needed 24 hours before I could sand it, so I went with a more abridged version of the process. Then, with the clear coat, I found a can of GitD Krylon clear coat, so of course I had to use it. I added another layer of normal clear coat over it, too. The issue was I didn't sand it that well, because I couldn't really see if I was sanding off too much. And I didn't want to tack many more days onto the project, because there was still something else that had to be done. Step 7: The Grand Finale Okay, so I had this pretty cool green Hau. But what made it special? What made it anything other than a model I just printed out and prettied up? I'll tell you what. ELECTRONICS! That's an Arduino UNO microcontroller board. And a bunch of wires and LEDs. Hopefully you can see where I'm going with this. spoiler: this is where I'm going with it With judicious help from my friend who is excellent at using a soldering iron (actually he kind of did pretty much all the work on the wiring itself) I set up a wiring system that led from the output pins of the board to the LEDs, which were positioned around the mask. Cool, yes, but not necessarily impressive. So I can make the mask light up, what's so mind-blowing about that? Well, when I put it like that, nothing really. Buuuut, fortunately, that's not all there is to it. See, the Arduino board has 14 output pins, numbered 0-13, which can be given separate outputs. This means that I could potentially have up to 14 LEDs attached, and each one could be controlled independently. But due to the configuration, I didn't want to use pins 0, 1 and 13. So that leaves 11 pins to use. Now, with that in mind, count how many parts of the mask you see lit up. another spoiler: there are nine spoiler #3: each one of those is run off its own pin, with the remaining two going toward making the mask look downright evil So, basically I have a mask that I can run light patterns on. Oh, and control from my iPod. See, the Arduino board can store programs on it, so that it can either loop through a process infinitely or react to certain inputs. If you have it plugged into a computer via the USB port, it can also receive serial messages. So basically what I did was set up a little control surface using the TouchOSC app on my iPod (costs $5, I think) that will send OSC messages to my computer over WiFi. They get read by a Processing sketch (Processing lets you write little Java applets, called sketches), which then sends serial messages through the USB to the Arduino board, which then interpret the messages in terms of what LEDs to turn on or off. This was all code that I had to figure out, and while I take little to no credit for it, I am so very happy that I managed to make it work. So, the result of all this is a green Hau with lights that I can remotely control with my iPod. I am very happy with the way it turned out, though it has quite a few problems. First off, I already removed the bike helmet straps I had used to wear it, because they did not work well, tending to squish my nose and not keep the mask up enough. Then, one of the cheek LEDs stopped working, which is likely because of either a disconnected wire or a short-circuit somewhere. Finally, the texture of the mask is just kind of blah. There are many pitted areas that I didn't properly sand down, and as a result the whole look of it is diminished. However, these should be relatively straightforward, if tedious, to fix. I think the entire wiring setup could use some cleaning up, really, but that's something to look forward to. Until then, remember: Kumo Rocks.
  5. So a while back, I started working on some newer versions of the checklists that were created for all of the BIONICLE collectibles that we've seen so far. The main gripe that I had with the older variants was that they were saved as .jpg, which meant that the quality was reduced significantly, and it made it difficult do do one-click bubble filling with the bucket tool. My first thought was to just redo the fill circles so that you could do one-click filling, but the idea stuck to me to completely overhaul them for those who like nice, clean files. I first began work on a Kraata checklist, which I posted here in the Art Topic a few months ago. Sadly, the Topic was lost, as it was posted within the timeframe of data that we ended up rolling back on the forums. So I figured that making the Krana/Krana-Kal Checklist and reposting a new Topic including both checklists would be a good idea, with the goal of posting a new Kanohi and Kanoka checklist in the meantime. So here we are, the first two checklists: Krana / Krana-Kal Checklist 100% Size | 45% Size Wild Kraata Checklist 100% Size | 40% Size Like I said earlier; you can expect a Kanohi and Kanoka checklist soon. The Kanohi checklist is currently in the WIP stage, and the Kanoka Checklist will follow shortly on its heels when it's complete! I personally use the checklists scaled down to 40% / 45% because they're smaller and easier to handle, but the hi-res versions at 100% are here in case any of you feel daring enough to work with such large files. As always, any kind of feedback is welcome. I'd like to know what the community would like to see in terms of interactability, such as importing the checklists to Flash or HTML5 to allow for easier tracking and updating of the lists ((I have a long-term goal of porting them to HTML5 eventually, but I need to get the mechanics of the markup down before I could even begin coding in it )). Thanks a bunch guys, and I hope to see a lot of people using these!
  6. So, I've been looking on Bricklink, and the prices for some of these pieces haven't been promising, so I thought I'd open up a new BST topic and see what I can get. One project I would like to try out it remaking the Chronicler's Company, and I only have Taipu's Pakari, so I need some of the other masks. I'd be open to trading certain things, just ask and I'll see if I have it and would be willing to part with it. So, the masks I need from the Chronicler's Company are: Prototype Red Noble Ruru (EDIT: Also apparently in a clock set released in 2002, so some are not prototypes, who knew?). If you have this, I would very much like it, and would offer more for it. Lime Noble Rau. Also more rare for some reason. Didn't it come in the masks packs? Mata Blue Noble Huna. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Dark Grey Noble Matatu. Also in mask packs Black Noble Ruru. Came in the Hafu set, I believe. And while I'm here, might as well look for some other things I'll need soon. Metru Chestplate in Mata Red and Tan. The red came with some Motorcycle set a while ago, and the tan with the Vorox and Thornatus. Throwbot Foot in Dark Grey, Mata Red, and Yellow, x2 Each. Grey came from Millenium Slizer, Red from a Motorcycle and Hockey sets, and Yellow from the Muaka and another Hockey Set Technic Perpendicular Pin Connector in Mata Blue (x2-4) and Dark Grey (x4-6). These came from the 03 Matoran and a few other sets. Metru Blue Great Ruru, from Karzahni. Hero Factory Joint extendors Hero Factory Shield with Clip in Black and Gunmetal, x2 each Nuparu Mahri Armor, Left and Right, in Black. I've been searching for a picture for this one, but it's fine, because it's unlikely I'll ever get it. I've always wanted that white-Metru Blue blended Miru prototype. Just to get it out there. EDIT: Found a pic, it's the top row. Rahkshi head in Silver, from Roodaka Torso from the Diver collectible minifigure. Galaxy Patrol Collectible Minifigure Hazmat Suit Collectible Minifigure (and hose) Ball Joints are also greatly appreciated, esp. light grey classic ones and black ones with the hole through them. Please reply especially if you have the rarer items or a large number of these. I will trade or pay cash. I'll also probably update this page a bit more as time goes on and I find more things I need, but that's it for now.
  7. Right, let me first apologize for so nonchalantly breaking into these forums after yet another considerable hiatus. I just had a thought that overwhelmed me, and I had to share it somewhere. Now, it is said that the Kanohi masks' most common function is their ability to sustain a being's consciousness, correct? And it is also said that the prolonged removal of a Kanohi mask from a being's face can have adverse effects on their well-being. A Matoran would normally lose consciousness, a Toa would become very weak and dizzy, and a Turaga would remain somewhere in between those two states, perhaps alternating from one to the other. I think it's safe to assume that in their comatose state, the Matoran experience what we call "dreams", right? So consider this: What if when a Toa or a Turaga has their Kanohi removed (either willingly or by force), they enter a hazy state of mind, similar to what we call the hypnagogic state? They aren't asleep or completely detached from reality, but they occasionally experience eerie hallucinations (that include visual, audible and tactile sensations) that seem to be a projection of their subconscious mind (if MU beings even have a subconscious)? Perhaps a Toa wouldn't experience such specific effects, but think of a Turaga. Now, a Turaga is generally perceived as a wise, old, and experienced being with a slight air of mystic involvement, right? Now, what if, just what if, some Turaga, somewhere (or perhaps even one of the original Turaga of Mata Nui) was in the habit of deliberately removing their Kanohi, so that they would become more susceptible to certain influences, which would in turn aid them in their urge to gain a "higher" insight, similar to the way a shaman would intentionally enter a drug-induced state? Any thoughts?
  8. Now in MNOG when Kopaka changes his mask to a Noble [uhhhhh, can't remember which], it is actually a visual change. It also happens during the Onua/Lewa battle. Is that real? Or does the mask it appears one is wearing not change when a different power is activated? Meaning, could Kopaka use the powers of the Hau without actually "switching" to it?
  9. Title says it all. Mine was a blue Kaukau Nuva that I got from Gali Nuva, which was also my first set.
  10. Tahkron the Kanohi Hunter --- Tahkron is a member of a very mysterious species - the Kanohi Hunters. As you can probably guess, the KH have a tradition of hunting for... kanohi! And they like to wear them on their body as trophies. They can also wear them on their 'chin' to use their powers. Theoretically their minds can only control noble kanohi, but with proper training and experience they know how to use only so much power of a great one that doesn't overwhelm them. And there's no doubt that Tahkron, as the high chief of the Earth Clan, is very experienced. Pics (or didn't happen): Front: a little blurry D: Side: o_O it has a tail Back: and blurry wings too O_O No masks: blurry knees and arm The 'chin': looks like a blurry mata face That looks: a bit stupid (and blurry) Now time for a story: "The Decapitation" Tahu is unaware of his situation. Tahkron puts his Kakama on to escape quickly with a new trophy! I'm an awful storyteller ^ ^'
  11. I have a dark red noble Komau backstory: i remember finding this in a huge bin of parts i got from a garage sale 6 years ago. i remembered noting the odd colour but never thought back twice... me and my buddies just said "cool" and went on with our bionicle loving lives. 4 days ago: i was cleaning my room and i found a Kopaka canister in my closet, and inside was my old kanohi collection :') after looking through them and feeling the rush of nostalgia i saw this again. now im really curious about it, i know enough bionicle lore, legends and information to know that this mask isnt normal. Ive been lurking the internet for the last few days and i cant find a single thing on it. BUT i did find something interestingly similar in this thread: http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74058&hl=official at the bottom it mentions a dark blue Matatu. i cant find anything on the dark blue Matatu either. The mask itself: Ive done all the tests on BZPower, held up to light, put in hot water, paint thinner, nail polish remover, nothing worked. Im 100% sure this is molded red plastic. Compared to my other Komaus there are a few differences. 1. the "knobs" on the bottom of its "nose" are less defined 2. The inside (back) of the mask is missing the "nose" detail 3. the biggest thing: There are no codes or engravings on the back at all (that the originals have) but theres is a stamp that says shows +1 4: it is not a solid colour, it is a dark red plastic with copper sparkles in it. The last thing leads me to believe this isnt a misprint, but a protoype hopefully these pics will show what i am talking about Sorry that 1 pic is sideways. EDIT: pic was repeated
  12. If there were two Kanohi Iden users and both of them release their spirits, will the two spirits be able to touch each other?
  13. Hey there everyone! I always had this question about the Metruan's Kanohi. Why are the tops or middle of their Kanohi, tainted with silver paint? The sets that came out have the Kanohi tainted in silver and in some pictures I saw a of couple other matoran from Metru Nui, share the same appearance Does this have something to do with the matoran living or working on Metru Nui? And why does the silver go away when in Mata Nui? Is it because they shrunk? Can someone please clear this up? Edit: BTW sorry if this doesnt belong here, I dont know is this is part of the storyline, or just something the sets had.
  14. Five out of the six barraki (exluding Ehlek) belonged to a species that could wear and use kanohi. My question is: Which kanohi do you think they would have if they chose to wear masks? Which masks would make sence to each character?
  15. I was recently looking through the BS01 Kanohi page and noticed down near the bottom was a link to Other Kanohi, masks that were only shown in the comics that now have powers thanks to mainly Expanded Multiverse, and then canonized by Greg Farshey. But, just above that link on the Kanohi page, there are six pictures of Kanohi shown in the comics that don't have any powers yet. So, I got out my trusty pencils and Sharpie, and threw together some ideas of how those masks might look so we can get a better idea of powers we would like them to have. After we've got a good amount of suggestions, hopefully someone can put these into a poll, and the winners (hopefully, again) will be brought up to Greg by Erebus to be canonized (and probably the second and third choices just to make sure ) Note that I didn't really have sufficient detail to really make anything for these two images, so I just skipped them. If anyone really wants to give it a try (or really wants me to do it), we can try it out. Also note that these masks are by no means the only interpretation of those limited images. Feel free to try your own versions. So, onto the masks. Since none of them have powers or names yet, I'm just going to call them "Masks A-E," in order of appearance on BS01. I really don't like how D turned out, but there was barely enough detail anyways to make a full mask, so I gave it my best shot. I'm still pretty sure that mask and the Mask of Biomechanics are Skakdi heads, and the Matoran shown in the same comic panel are probably slaves or something, but they're still listed as Masks on BS01, so I'll just go wth it. So, now for my power suggestions. I'll also keep a record of ther suggestions here: Mask A: Mask of Facial Hair: (anyone else think it looks like it has a moustache and goatee?)Mask of Softening: This power enables a user to modify the flexibility, elasticity, and hardness of a material for a limited amount of time. Example usages are softening the hard ground you are falling onto to make it safe, or changing an iron bar into a heavy whip. Inspired by curved lines everywhere and soft appearance of mask.Mask of Dampening: Dampens extreme light, sound, and energy bursts on contact with user. Inspired by "earmuff"-like circles on the sides. Mask B: Mask of Heat Vision: Allows user to fire beams of heat from the eyepieces of the mask. Inspired by "superhero" look and thin bars, as well as the Rahkshi power. Immoral.Mask of Lightning: Gives user a small control over Lightning. Suggested by Meta-Mind Mask C: Mask of Currents: Allows user to manipulate direction and speed of nearby currents of gas, liquids, energy, etc. Inspired by flowing shape of mask, Neptune crown over eyes, water drop-like mouth, and blue coloring. Mask D: Mask of Acceleration: Allows user to increase the speed of a moving object. Inspired by windswept look and "Need for Speed" crazed grin.Mask of Deception: Allows user to project an illusion that feels, smells, acts, etc. exactly like the real thing as long as a subject believes in it and the user remains focused. Suggested by Omega 12 and ClickMask of Deception Alternate: Makes the user more believable. Suggested by Omega12 and Click Mask E: Mask of Nullification: Lessens force of impact on a user's body. Example usages include jumping from higher places with little injury, punching hard enough to shatter your hand, and dampening collisions. Inspired by helmet-like look.Mask of ___________: Allows user to temporarily (as in like five minutes) use elemental abilities of other elements that they have witnessed. Recharges for a day or so before it can be used again. Inspired by Airbender arrow on top. Mask of Afterlife: Borrows energy from the user until they die, and then they live in a Spirit-like form (similar to the Iden) for an equal amount of time. Suggested by Toa Nidhiki05Mask of Vacuum Breathing: Self-explanatory. Suggested by Omega12Mask of Gas Breathing: Self-explanatory, Suggested by Omega12 and Takua Dragonstar7Mask of Time Jump?: Allows a user to jump ahead a few seconds, remaining in the same place to avoid attacks or wait times. May conflict with EM mask. Suggested by Lokisyn Please let me know if I messed up any links or made typos. I think my keyboard's dying. Other ideas include EM suggestions without images already, which can be seen here. A list of possible powers from this list can be found in this post. So, what do you think? Any other ideas?
  16. Those mushy. Rubber type masks that the inika wear the organic kanohi, are they supposed to look different than the non organic ones? Aside from the fact that they need a weird head to connect it to and there is no connection points to the mouth n stuff
  17. Due to numerous requests, I have set up the new Paper Mask Archive. Due to some issues, I noticed from the previous archive, I decided to just link to the files themselves and not as a ZIP folder. Thanks to Bionicle: Next Generation for the models! Current Masks Archived Hall of Fame. Finished Masks and other Bionicle Props by Me and Fellow Bionicle Fans Various Masks by CrunchbiteNuva Paper Kakama by Piruk-MRFFB Red Kualsi by Pleurodeles Waltl Red Hau by Pleurodeles Waltl Lewa Phantoka Sword by CrunchbiteNuva Kakama by Bulik DOWNLOAD: Numbered has numbers on the edges to guide you, Clean version does not. Sorry Guys, but I'm removing all download links until further notice. FAQ: Oh, awesome! What did you use to make these?I used a program called Pepakura designer which takes 3d models and allows me to make paper patterns from them. What materials do I need? Printer, a cutting tool, glue, ruler and paper. Printer paper is not recommended, too flimsy, cardstock [55lbs or 110 lbs] is preferred. Can I use thin cardboard? Sure! It's just a matter of getting the pieces onto the cardboard unless you have a laser printer. The two best ways is either affixing the printed paper onto the cardboard with glue, gluestick, or photo spray mount, OR transferring the ink from the printed paper with acrylic gel medium or acetone (I heard that this method won't work with inkjet printers) How would I fold the edges? The best way is to score them. Scoring is basically creating a indented line to help you fold the paper better [no old man wrinkles on the paper, m'kay?] So what you do is you grab either a Xacto knife or a pen and ruler. Line the edge with the ruler and lightly trace with the knife or trace hard with the pen. If you do this, folding will be a lot easier. I noticed some weird lines inside the pieces, should I cut there too? No, that's just the program being weird and they're close enough, not like you can cut and glue with nonexistent tabs anyway.. Use your best judgement to determine where you should cut or fold and where you should not. Great, I finished gluing everything together. Now how do I make it stronger? This is a tricky question that I can't really answer and best to search cosplay, armor-making, and props-making sites because I'm not quite experienced in this department and requires research on the materials used to ensure health and safety. Several methods exist but I tend to avoid the toxic routes which you will require a respirator that can protect against volatile organic vapors. Things like Fiberglass resin, epoxy resin, etc. fail under this category. Nontoxic routes which I'm sure your parents would rather do are: papier mache (grab a ClearCoat spray so that your work won't be sogged down by the wetness) the hot glue method method (melting a bunch of hot glue and pouring it on the back) or a nontoxic resin like AquaResin. How would I paint it? That's up to you! Usually one would have a base color coat, black acrylic paint for weathering and details and silver/light paint for highlights. But again it's your vision. Hey, can you make patterns for [insert mask name here]?I'm not the 3d modeler, I get these models from mostly Maphrox or B:NG and I just create the paper patterns. It simply depends if the requested mask has been modeled yet and even then the model needs to be modeled right so that my program can make accurate patterns from it. Good luck!
  18. So yeah, I have stuff to sell and trade. There is also some stuff that I need. Just so you know, I'm living in Quebec, Canada. If you have something I need, I'm willing to trade or pay with money. Just tell me your price. Wants Here : http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Nicotheory/Wants/list.jpg Haves I also have Mata heads with their eyes unclipped still in their bags and some Kraata. Just ask if you're interested. Non-Lego stuff : Megablocks Dragons Krystal War "Man O War" Brand New and Sealed Book "Small Steps" by Louis Sachar
  19. Well, the title of this topic is pretty self explanatory. Basically, what kanohi do you think The Yesterday Quest toa team should have, with the exception of Chiara, because its been confirmed that she has a volitak.
  20. Something that has bugged me for a while regarding mask powers is the following: At least some of them have been stated to have a duration. In particular, the only difference between a Great and Noble Huna is the duration of their invisibility. The first thing I am wondering about is how this duration is measured. Is it a set time, or does it still depend on the user's willpower even after the initial Great/Noble difference? If the former, does the mask need to recharge/generate more power for itself? Can it then be activated while half-charged, for a shorter duration? If the latter, does the power simply become harder and harder to control as the duration increases due to your own mental fatigue? Would a user more easily lose focus after a certain amount of time?Personally, I lean towards the former, since Noble Kanohi are confirmed to have less power total, and so it doesn't make sense to me that they would wear your mind out quicker. The second thing I wonder about is if every mask has a duration. Now, if the duration limit comes from the user's fatigue forcing them to let go of the power eventually, then it would make sense that every mask has a limit. Tahu had trouble keeping the Vahi in check, for example, but to me that seemed more like the danger of losing control rather than the inability to keep the mask going at all. Losing control of the Vahi could cause a lot of crazy stuff to happen, while losing control of a Huna would likely just make the viewer visible again. If the duration is inherent to the mask and the energy it uses, then we have the question of how long any mask can be sustained. A Ruru (night vision) would likely draw very little power, since it just allows your eyes to more easily sense light. The Great version can shine like a flashlight when used to its full extent, though, so we must consider that this additional power usage could potentially make the "batteries" (of either the mask or the user's mind) run out quicker. :)We also have such things as the Nuva masks, which have greatly expanded capabilities, at least in the sharing aspect. Sharing a power would naturally use some extra energy (and extra mind power), but would it shorten the duration, or is the Nuva masks capable of sustaining themselves just as well even when used at full power?I don't expect the answers to be readily available (or else I wouldn't ask ), but I find it interesting to discuss the exact limits of Kanohi usage.
  21. I know a lot of people have custom Kanohi please share them. My is the Kanohi Kanohi the Legendary mask of Masks it can instantly change into any mask but the noble can not use legendary masks
  22. So, I've been pondering this for a while. In one of the books, Pohatu (I believe) uses his mask of Speed to increase the motion of his molecules (atoms?) to a point where they're vibrating so rapidly that he can pass through solid objects. This made me wonder if the powers of the other Great Kanohi could be used in similar improvisational fashions. For example, could the Pakari (strength) be used to strengthen specific parts of the body, such as the legs for running? Or, could the Kaukau be utilized to breath in liquids other than water, or be used as a "gas mask" to filter the user's air intake. Improvisation probably wouldn't work so well for all masks. Nokama's is a mask of translation, and you can't do much more on that level. Just a thought.
  23. i just want to share my crown jewel of my bionicle collection. (not quite the platinum one, but still the best prize i ever won) http://imgur.com/YTrEwwhats your favorite collectibe? Any idea what this bad boy is worth?
  24. Which Kanohi Mask would you want to have? (Also no picking Legendary masks like the mask of shadows, mask of light, mask of life, mask of time, mask of demensions etc. because it's the first obvious choice)I would pick the Kanohi Shelek, the mask of Silence (So I can rob my brother of the ability to speak , or rob my mom of the ability to hear me while I'm plotting to destroy the world).P.S. CHOOSE REAL CANON MASKS. Not made up one's please!
  25. So, this is just an odd idea I had while looking at the old Mata head design. Down on the lower cheek area (just under the long mouth ridge), there's these two little hemispherical indents as you can see here:So, BS01 says that Which I've usually seen and assumed to attach on their cheeks, so I was wondering, would anyone have liked it if, instead of the weak, annoying Mata socket on the masks, there were magnets inside those cheek areas, holding the mask on? It probably would have the same effect as the Mata socket when playing that little "Knock their masks off" game from '01-'03, but might have been a bit more expensive, and maybe had more legal warnings and such. So, is this a feasable, or safe, idea? Do you think Lego ever thought about it? Would it have continued on in later years, or just evolved a new way to do it?
