  1. Those Under the Stars -Gameplay- -Discussion- This is the Profile Topic for A Journey of Sand, Stars, and Spirit. Here you'll post profiles once they've been approved in the Discussion Topic and I'll keep things organized. In order to help me with this, please do keep all your characters in one post. Thanks! Player- Characters : Gravity (The Tomorrow Girl)- Ekko Vae The Lorax - Ofeo Norik (Of Celtania) - Balfel Emissary - Trun Rawlins Ahktu - Zivuch TBK - Kovant, Liina Shadow_Ignited - Rileka Urchin - Mercure Ghidora131 - Dessimus Profile Form: This is what you fill out to put a character into this journey. A little information on the village we begin in: Bolrum-Koro is located on the edge of a forest and the ocean, mainly a lumber and fishing village. Relatively peaceful, considering, and has an active enough port that trade is possible but dangerous with the chaotic tendencies of the Sea of Sand and Saltwater. Update: Your character may now be any reasonable Species, as we have arrived at the City of Flame. The City is large enough to be considered perhaps the biggest in this age, and is sustained by vast fields of Thornax, as such Stew is a staple here. Most buildings are made of metal or stone to resist the fire and explosive hazards of the volcano and fields they live by. Home to a great number of craftsmen, blacksmiths, and warriors who fight in the City's famed Great Arena and Tournaments. Name: (Bionicle-sounding, please.) Gender: ( Male, Female, neither?) Species: (Stay reasonable, Toa only if there's a great reason.) Powers, Abilities, and Skills: (What can they do, what are they good at.) Equipment: (What they currently have.) Who: (Personality and Appearance, rolled into one.) Backstory: (Can range from being a Bolrum-Koro inhabitant to City-dweller. Feel free to create locations, though if they interfere with what I've got planned than I may ask you to change them.) Zakaro
  2. Around the Campfire -Gameplay- -Profiles- This is the Discussion Topic for A Journey of Sand, Stars, and Spirit. Here you can discuss things totally OOC, as long as they're related to the game, and post profiles for approval. Also, any announcements related to the game will be posted here along with a restatement of the Rules and the Profile Form. Rules: 1. All BZP rules do still apply here. 2. Have respect for the staff, myself, and other players. Respect them as RPers, and respect their characters and let them control their own characters as they see fit.3. Please do try to make your posts as readable as possible. A common help is to color-code each character, or even note in the beginning who and where. Ex. IC: Zakaro (BZPower)4. As this is an epic quest, there's not much time for romantic or comedy subplots. Do keep those things to a minimum. 5. Your character is just as good as the others, within context. Play them realistically, unless your Matoran is an accomplished martial artist or fast on their feet, they're not going to easily take down a Glatorian without some weapons or other help.6. In total, at the beginning, you may start with 2 villagers that are Agori, Glatorian, or Matoran, and 1 merchant of nearly any race. A merchant character will be harder to approve, especially if they are a Toa or otherwise more powerful character. Over the course of the RPG, I aim to keep everyone to a 1 Toa maximum, so decide wisely. 7. Have fun, and to show you read the rules combine Species and Gender into one category when making a character. Profile Form:This is what you fill out to put a character into this journey. 3. Hey guys, some time ago I decided to project called Bionicle: The Quest for Masks, but it looked bit too big to begin with. I've came up with an idea of spliting the big goal to smaller and easier to achieve goals. I started work on Bionicle: The Quest for Masks Episode I - Tahu, it's simpler to make adventure for one Toa than six of them. This project also get some spliting so I can be satisfied with smaller things before I finish the bigger one. This game undergone some changes in time trying different technologies and ideas. Finally I've chosen Unity I like this choice it gives me what I want and helps with making it. I want to make it RPG/Adventure game. I present you eary alpha build, it's not much but it's good enough teaser I think. Background Image is temporary. Windows Download Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mac Download Mirror 1 Mirror 2
  4. This is a project I've seen many groups try and fail to finish: creating a tabletop RPG for Bionicle. In order to circumvent that risk, this project will be open to EVERYONE to participate. All input is welcome and appreciated! Updated 3/08/14: Akavakaku added Building Stats, Species, Light and Shadow, and Elemental Stat Modifiers Updated 18/08/14: Akavakaku edited Statistics and added Turaga, Semi-Intelligent Species, Unintelligent Species, Playing the Game What is the Bionicle TRPG? It's (hopefully going to be) a fanmade tabletop role playing game for Bionicle. Interest in Bionicle is currently increasing with the possibility of its return, so this, I feel, is a good time for this project to start. Assuming a potential Bionicle revival does not completely deviate from the original, both the first and next generations of Bionicle should be incorporated into the TRPG. Tabletop role playing games are interactive, multi-player games that require no special technology to play; only pencil, paper and dice (in theory). This restricts the complexity of the game, since players must perform all needed calculations and create all assets appearing in the game. However, it also allows players to be as creative as they like in their character creation and in-game choices. Creating Characters Statistics The most basic actions a character can take, like attacking, defending or moving, rely on statistics. As of now, the Basic Stats are: Strength A measure of how much force a character can support or exert. Strength is used for lifting, carrying, pushing, holding, wrestling, crushing, etc. Agility A measure of how easily a character can change speed or direction. Agility is used for leaping, dodging, catching, etc. Speed How fast a character can think, move and act. Speed is used for moving around, and also determines how soon they act or react. Energy The strength of a character's special powers. Elemental powers, for example, rely on the Energy stat. Energy is not depleted when powers are used; it simply describes how strong those powers are. Stamina Describes how long a character can continue to exert themself. All the Basic Stats above consume Stamina. When Stamina runs out, the character must stop and rest. Will This is not a quality of a character's body, but of their mind. Will is how much mental strength a character has. Will is used for exerting or resisting mind control, maintaining focus despite distractions, activating certain powers, etc. Will can also be used to give a temporary boost to any Basic Stat above, meaning the character is pushing themself past their limit. If this is taken to an extreme, however, the character will injure themself. Health A measure of how much a character or inanimate object can be damaged and still function. As a character is hurt, their Health decreases. At low health, characters may take penalties to all other Basic Stats, even Will. When Health reaches 0, a character is considered to have been knocked out. If they continue to suffer harm, they may be seriously injured or killed. An object whose Health reaches 0 no longer functions. Building Stats To design a character, you must determine their Basic Stats. Each species has its own base value for each stat. Then, on top of the base stats, you first apply elemental stat modifiers (if applicable) (see below) and then apply individual variation. To apply individual variation, first choose a stat to exclude from the individual penalty, then roll a d6 or RNG 1-6 for the remaining 6 stats. The stat rolled gets a -1 penalty. Then choose a stat to exclude from the individual bonus, and roll a d6 or RNG 1-6 for the remaining 6 stats. The stat rolled gets a +1 bonus. Elements Elemental affiliations are common for Bionicle characters. For the purposes of the game, I've modified the list of elements. Fire The element of heat, flame and combustion, with some relation to volcanic activity and sunlight. Active Fire powers allow the creation and manipulation of fire and heat. Passive Fire powers give resistance to heat and burning. Fire-elementals normally enjoy warmth and are tolerant to soot and ash, so they are often found working in forges or living in volcanic areas. The prefix for Fire in Matoran is Ta-. Fire is represented by red with accents of yellow, orange and/or black. Water The element of liquid water and water vapor, with influence in the weather and in physical health. Active Water powers allow the creation and manipulation of water and mist. Passive Water powers make swimming and diving easier. Water-elementals typically spend much of their time in or near water, whether canals, rivers, lakes or seas. The prefix for Water in Matoran is Ga-. Water is represented by blue with accents of teal, white and/or green. Stone The element of solid mineral matter, related to sand and tectonic activity. Active Stone powers allow the creation and manipulation of rocks and minerals. Passive Stone powers confer increased hardiness and ruggedness. Stone-elementals usually prefer to be in places of exposed rock, and are not easily bothered by the harshness of such open areas. The prefix for Stone in Matoran is Po-. Stone is represented by brown with accents of tan, black and/or orange. Earth The element of soil and substrate, connected to erosional features and ecological systems. Active Earth powers allow the creation and manipulation of dust and soil. Passive Earth powers cause sensitive eyesight and good hearing. Earth-elementals generally like dark, cool, enclosed places, making them ideal miners or tunnel constructors. The prefix for Earth in Matoran is Onu-. Earth is represented by black with accents of gray, orange and/or violet. Ice The element of frozen water and general cold, related to crystal and freezing. Active Ice powers allow the creation and manipulation of ice and coldness. Passive Ice powers give increased resistance to cold and eyesight not easily bothered by glare. For most Ice-elementals, the ideal places to live are cold and usually still. The prefix for Ice in Matoran is Ko-. Ice is represented by white with accents of blue, gray and teal. Air The element of wind and atmosphere, related to flight and elevation. Active Air powers allow the creation and manipulation of air and wind. Passive Air powers ease adjustment to elevation changes as well as improving coordination. Air-elementals often prefer to live high above the ground, for instance in towers or treetops. The prefix for Air in Matoran is Le-. Air is represented by green with accents of teal, white and/or yellow. Light The element of illumination and radiation, tied to the ethical judgments of the conscious mind. Active Light powers allow the creation and manipulation of visible light. Passive Light powers confer a great tolerance for brightness and the ability to change colors in extreme circumstances. Light-elementals are very rare, but may be found in places of legendary illumination. The prefix for Light in Matoran is Av-. Light is symbolically represented by gold and white, but may take any bright color. Lightning The element of static and current electricity, related to magnetism and energy. Active Lightning powers allow the creation and manipulation of electrical charges and current. Passive Lightning powers grant resistance to injury from electrical shock. Lightning-elementals often like to live around powerful electrical charges, such as stormy regions and power plants. The prefix for Lightning in Matoran is Vo-. Lightning is represented by yellow with accents of blue, white and/or red. Glass The element of inorganic, noncrystalline solid, related to minerals and light reflection. Active Glass powers allow the creation and manipulation of glass of any color and shade. Passive Glass powers grant excellent vision near and far, as well as skill in distinguishing colors. Glass-elementals usually inhabit places that are sandy but not totally exposed. The prefix for Glass in Matoran is Idi-. Glass is represented by teal with accents of white, brown and/or blue. Plasma The element of concentrated channels of heat energy, related to thermal radiation and life force. Active Plasma powers allow the creation and manipulation of energy flows, including those of organic affinity. Passive Plasma powers confer tolerance of extreme energy levels and temperatures. Plasma-elementals may prefer humid environments, which conduct heat easily. The prefix for Plasma in Matoran is Su-. Plasma is represented by orange with highlights of white, tan and/or blue. Gravity The element of gravitational attraction, related to mass and density. Active Gravity powers allow the creation and manipulation of gravitational fields. Passive Gravity powers allow increased balance and stability. Gravity-elementals are attracted to areas of higher gravity, such as mountain ranges. The prefix for Gravity in Matoran is Ba-. Gravity is represented by violet with highlights of black, yellow and white. Sonics The element of sound waves and vibration, related to tremors and kinetics. Active Sonic powers allow the creation and manipulation of sonic waves. Passive Sound powers grant highly acute hearing. This causes most Sound-elementals to seek out the quietest possible places to live. The prefix for Sonics in Matoran is De-. Sound is represented by gray with highlights of black, tan and/or white. Plantlife The element of wall-celled organic tissue, related to chemistry and the biosphere. Active Plantlife powers allow the creation and manipulation of plants and fungi. Passive Plantlife powers give resistance or immunity to many plant-based toxins and irritants. Plantlife-elementals almost always prefer areas rich in vegetation. The prefix for Plantlife in Matoran is Bo-. Plantlife is represented by green with accents of brown, yellow and/or tan. Iron The element of metals, related to technology and natural ore. Active Iron powers allow the creation and manipulation of metals. Passive Iron powers give unusual strength and durability. Iron-elementals almost always prefer areas full of metal, usually artificial. The prefix for Iron in Matoran is Fe-. Iron is represented by gray with accents of red, orange and black. Shadow The element of darkness and absorbtion, tied to the moral instincts of the unconscious mind. Active Shadow powers allow the creation and manipulation of shadow. Passive Shadow powers confer excellent night vision and the ability to blend in in dark environments. Shadow-elementals are very rare, but may be found in places of legendary darkness. The prefix for Shadow in Matoran is Kra-. Shadow is symbolically represented by silver and black, but may take any dark color. What do elements mean? Several areas of the game are affected by the elements of characters. First, different elemental powers give different options for attack and defense in battles. Second, each element carries different innate alterations to the player's stats. Third, certain elemental powers can be an advantage or a disadvantage in certain areas. And fourth, there is a story aspect to elements. Members of the same element usually share a bond stronger than between members of the same species but different elements, and may organize into elemental factions. Elemental Stat Modifiers Being of a certain element gives a character certain changes to their stats. All elemental stat modifiers increase stats overall. Fire: +1 Will Water: +1 Health Stone: +1 Speed Earth: +1 Strength Ice: +1 Stamina Air: +1 Agility Light: +1 Energy Lightning: -1 Strength, +1 Agility, +1 Will Glass: -1 Health, +1 Will, +1 Agility Plasma: -1 Stamina, +1 Health, +1 Agility Gravity: -1 Speed, +1 Strength, +1 Stamina Sonics: -1 Health, +1 Stamina, +1 Speed Iron: -1 Agility, +1 Will, +1 Strength Plantlife: -1 Will, +1 Speed, +1 Health Shadow: -1 Health, +1 Energy, +1 Will Light and Shadow Unlike the other elements, Light and Shadow are not merely physical but also metaphysical powers. All beings have inner light and shadow--the greater the complexity of their mind, the more of each they must have. All beings, even those with light or shadow powers, naturally have a balance of each. However, this can be changed. By intense meditation upon either their lighted side or their shadowed side, a being can purge themself of nearly all of the opposite side. If they do so, they will gain Light or Shadow powers respectively, though the strength of these depends on the being. While inner light and shadow seem like good and evil, they actually describe the two sides to moral and ethical thought. Inner light is the conscious, ethical side of the mind, while inner shadow is the subconscious, moral side of the mind. A being with only inner light is unable to operate without a rigid ethical code, while a being with only inner shadow has no regard at all for the values of others. There are certain, rare powers that can cause the inner light or shadow to spontaneously drain from a being, and others that automatically restore one or the other if it has been lost. Species There are many different species in the Bionicle universe, and each has its own base stats, powers and other traits. Ultimately it should be possible to play as a character of any reasonably intelligent species, although it is reasonable to assume that within a given game Player Characters would usually be species with similar levels of power. Intelligent Species Matoran Matoran are the most common intelligent species in the official Bionicle universe (not counting post-2009 expanded universe), and likely in most other settings as well. They are considerably shorter than average human height, but still fairly robust. Biologically they are biomechanical, like most all other beings of their universe, with metallic armor protecting their organic tissue. Some of this armor is easily removable, but much of it is finely integrated into their body and cannot be removed without surgery. Less than one third of their body is organic. To remain conscious, Matoran must wear Kanohi masks, which are made from metallic Protodermis. Great Kanohi and Noble Kanohi have powers that they can bestow upon the wearer, but Matoran usually wear powerless Kanohi, since they have no means of activating Kanohi powers. If a Matoran's Kanohi is removed or broken, they will weaken until they become unconscious. As is the default, the insides of Matoran's eyes are luminous, and in the center of their chest is a "heartlight" that flashes in time with pulses of energy through their body. This plasma energy, rather than blood, sustains their body, and it will not "bleed" if they are injured. To maintain their energy they must breathe air, as their lungs convert oxygen to energy (and waste gas). Their brains are fully organic. They may restore their energy either by eating organic food or absorbing it from a font of "edible" plasma. To remain active they usually either have to visit a plasma font monthly (as little as annually if it is a very powerful one) or eat roughly every other day. Deprived of either of these, they will starve. Additionally, due to their organic composition, they need to drink clean liquid Protodermis or water from time to time so they do not dry out. But since they do not have sweat or any other fluid releases, they can go without it for a long time in normal circumstances. All Matoran have elements, and may have any element at all, although Light and Shadow are very rare. However, they have no active elemental powers, nor any other powers. A Matoran's base stats are: Strength 5 Agility 5 Speed 5 Energy 5 Stamina 5 Will 5 Health 5 Toa If it is their destiny, then with the help of an external blast of power a Matoran may become a Toa. Toa are like Matoran in appearance, but they are taller than most humans (about 2 meters) and very powerfully built. The appearance of Toa generally varies more than that of Matoran; upon transformation the appearance of a Toa is reflective of how they envisioned a Toa as appearing, as well as how they envision themself. Toa still must wear Kanohi masks, but while severely hindered by the loss of a mask a Toa will not lose consciousness without it. Furthermore, they are capable of accessing the power of Great and Noble masks, and may even be able to access the power of Legendary masks to a slight degree. When a Matoran becomes a Toa, their mask becomes a Great Kanohi. Toa are well-known for their elemental powers. A Toa has a great capacity to manipulate their element, beyond that of most other element-users. They also have a supply of Toa power that they may give up to make new Matoran into Toa and/or become a Turaga. A Toa's base stats are: Strength 15 Agility 15 Speed 15 Energy 15 Stamina 15 Will 15 Health 15 Or you can just add 10 to their stats as a Matoran. Turaga Becoming a Turaga is a kind of retirement from the duties of a Toa, and signifies that the Toa has fulfilled their destiny. Turaga are slightly taller than Matoran, but are more frail in appearance. Turaga must wear Kanohi masks. If they do not, they will not lose consciousness, but will be hindered even more than Toa. They can use Great or Noble masks, but can only use the powers to the degree a Noble mask provides. Upon becoming a Turaga, a Toa's mask becomes a Noble mask. Turaga retain slight elemental powers. A Turaga's base stats are the same as a Matoran's, but due to their frailty they take penalties once they use them. Semi-Intelligent Species What makes a species "intelligent" is very subjective. Possibilities include the use of language, the ability to learn and be taught, advanced problem-solving skills, and the capacity to evaluate their own goals and motives. Species with all of these abilities will be labeled "intelligent," species with one or none will be labeled "unintelligent, and those with some but not all will be categorized as "semi-intelligent." Most semi-intelligent and unintelligent species are called Rahi, a term which roughly means a wild creature. However, some Rahi are fully intelligent. Unintelligent Species Playing the Game Once the characters are made, the game may begin. The two roles are Player and Storyteller. A Player controls a character, and is responsible for that character's actions and reactions. There are usually several players. The Storyteller is responsible for everything other than the Player characters' (PCs) actions, including the environment, the non-Player characters (NPCs), and the adventure itself. Generally, the Storyteller is in command of the game, and is in charge of making decisions that can't be easily settled by simply referring to the rules. Conflicts Conflict is at the core of most games, and is essential to Bionicle. Conflicts in the Bionicle TRPG are not necessarily physical, but a non-physical conflict must be settled by the relationships of the characters and the wits of the players; there are no rules for a shouting match, debate or negotiation. Physical conflicts must be settled according to the characters' Stats and actions. A conflict is divided into rounds, each round being roughly six seconds long. During a round, every character gets to act at least once. The order of characters' actions is determined by a Speed roll. For every character roll a d4 or RNG 1-4, and add the roll to the character's Speed. The highest-rolling character acts first. In the event of a tie, all characters that tied roll again to determine the order amongst them. That's all for the moment, more will come sooner or later. Feedback and ideas would be wonderful!

  6. This was a game i'm Designing but i decided to take it down from the public because it's not that well made. Sorry.
  7. Please note this was posted in Games and Trivia with prior permission from Black 6 and Windrider. ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Arena: A Bionicle Constructible Combat Game Core Rule system published on June 21st, 2014 by Kughii* Look for a tutorial video of the rules coming soon! ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Turn your Bionicle MOCs into epic warriors and wage bloody combat against your foes, or work together to complete a set of goals dictated by a Game Master. Battle with and against your friends in a turn-based combat game where the powers of the six elements clash against steel, looking an opponent in the eyes often proves fatal, and kanohi can deter some of the strongest blows. Arena is a game for two to eight players and takes a minimum of ten minutes to play, though larger games will run on average thirty to forty-five minutes. Included in the .pdf digital download are the complete Core Rules, along with four basic character sheets. Currently these rules are hosted on Google Drive. You are allowed to view and download, though not edit, the .pdf. You will also need your Bionicle collection, a form of measuring distance, Lego bricks in White, Red, Yellow, and Green, and a place to play. _____ After three years and several editions I am proud to present to the BZPower.com community a set-based game for Bionicle. These rules have been an effort to create a balanced combat game where any race, any power - canon or otherwise - can exist. Although the Core Rules only offer six kanohi, six elements, and six vision powers I plan on releasing several expansions to fill in gaps. In the meantime, if there is something you want for your character simply talk with your fellow players until some agreement is made. This game is as much about creativity as the little pieces we use to build the characters involved, and I would love to see any house rules you make in the comments below, as well as photos of your characters or stories of memorable experiences. Leg godt! During the open beta at Brickcon 2013, a group of four wonderful BZPower members played several games and gave feedback. I want to thank Kakaru, Kopakanui, XCCJ, and Based Goomy for the fantastic spirit and creativity they showed during the play test. *Please note these rules, excluding any and all terms and licenses owned by The Lego Group, are free for anyone to play but they are my creative property. Do not sell these rules or otherwise use them for any commercial purpose without my express written permission. Thank you. Feel free to print out the rules for non-commercial purposes as long as credit is given where it is due.
  8. Congratulations to the winners of our 31st Bionicle RPG Contest! There were some great entries, but only three could win: Midnight City - GravityUltimate City of Ultimate Destiny - Fabulous SunshineCity in the Dark - The LoraxThe RPGs can be started at the hosts' convenience. Current RPGs will get the usual week or so to wrap up. We'll say by June 4th, assuming I remember. There has been a lot of discussion during this contest as to whether we should continue the process. I will be taking this into consideration and see what we can come up with. Continue to discuss or send me your thoughts. Congrats to the winners - have fun!
  9. So, a couple of old friends of mine are in town this weekend. I've known one since my earlier school days and the other is his girlfriend (and they are adorable <3). Anyway, all day today, he, his dad, his girlfriend and his dad's old friends played D&D. I had to work, but I joined in this afternoon once my shift ended. The recap I got went something like this: All characters started in a forest, and after searching around, they found only one single town in the entire area with a castle. The castle was mean and did not offer any lodging, so they went to an inkeep, who took them in reluctantly after they mentioned they were broke. So, he was angry, but whatever free lodging, and then they learned about a cave system from the locals where adventurers would enter, but never return from. So, naturally, they all decided to loot the place and explore. Then they got some treasure and paid the inkeep their bill and kept going back for no reason other than to survive. They fought an Ogre and a horde of goblins and won, and when I came in, my character (as played by his girlfriend who is awesome at keeping three characters alive) was injured slightly. So, I started the game when we went to a chapel to get healed by acolytes. Then we went into the caves again and explored, found some treasure in the Goblin Leader's room (they beat the Goblin Leader earlier) and then I used my infrared vision (as I was a half-elf warrior) to scout ahead to check if anyone was coming. After a while of this, we ran into eight gnomes who shared some information about the unexplored corridors ahead among other things. They were interested in using the caves (which had many dead ends) for mining, as they thought the cave system we were in showed signs of being mined previously. They mentioned around forty hobgoblins ahead past a secret door, and they heard them coming so they started to run away, so we started to run away, but we weren't fast enough to outrun the hobgoblins. Anyway, we could outrun the gnomes, but we decided to stay and fight the hobgoblins in order to help save the gnomes. The gnomes decided to stick with us and help us battle. One I named Sir Puff n' Stuff of Fluff and Stuff, who sadly was killed shortly after his naming. The other, Sir Pointy, was an archer who climbed upon my shoulders and fired arrows at the enemies as I swung my battle axe and took out two hobgoblins with ease. Then I spent forever trying to kill the Leader of the Hobgoblins who had super thick armor and required a roll of sixteen or higher on a twenty sided die to hit. I managed to get two hits in while Sir Pointy slowly but surely chipped him away with arrows. Eventually the other members of my party and the remaining gnomes finished off the other hobgoblins (eight males and four females total), and we won. The six living gnomes celebrated as I commented "You know two of you died, right?" Anyway, we ended the day there after looting what we could. We came back the next day to find the Leader of the Hobgoblin's body and one of the females was missing. A trail was left behind in the dungeon, and we followed it to a corner of an empty room. After finding a hidden door, we found two circular rooms. One had a giant bag of seven treasures in it and in the other one there was apparently a bear. After looting the first room, I investigated the supposed bear with my Bullseye Lantern and discovered it was merely a bear pelt which was used by the Hobgoblin Leader as a blanket. Anyway, the trail led outside to another cave opening. We decided to exlpore another end of the caves which we didn't get to before, but as we were leaving, we heard voices coming from the newly discovered cave entrance. Things like "Where is this trail coming from?" I suggested we use the bear pelt as a disguise to scare them back outside of the cave. Surprisingly it worked, and we caught a glimpse of them running away. Five humans. Two with leather armor, three with plate mail. (I was all "rawr!" and they were all "BEEEEAAAAAR!!!" Good times). So after that we explored and looted the cave further after we made sure we were not followed. After returning to town, we learned rumors of a traveling priest who was very charismatic and well received by the town. Everyone but a local Cleric, that is, who got a bad vibe. The priest always traveled with two acolytes in chain mail and supposedly traveled with travelers to the caves. Only the priest and acolytes returned, and the adventurers were never seen again. After that, I sold a keg of brandy to a bartender (I got it from the circular room) for 55 gp. He originally offered 50, but I haggled, despite one of my teammates urging me to just take the 50. Unfortunately I have work tomorrow, so that's as far as I got, which is a shame because we just got into the plot. Anyway, for my first time playing, it was fun! Very imaginative, and I like how the game is mapped out. The only thing is the game pacing is slow and leveling up seems like it would take weeks of playing. GET OFF MY DUNGEON! ~Tekulo <3

It does not, however, have to be altered before being entered again after its break, although the creator can do so if they desire to.Example: A RPG wins two contests in a row. It is not entered in the next contest. It is entered and wins the fourth and fifth contests. At this point it cannot be entered into the next four contests.Other restrictions as a result of other rules or administrative action may prevent a member from submitting an RPG.At the end of the four-month interval between contests, if an active RPG does not win again, it will be closed. If a former winner wins again at a later date, the creator of the RPG can choose to continue in the old topic where they left off or start over again in a new topic. If the creator or members of a winning RPG break the RPG forum rules, that RPG will be closed. The next runner-up from the previous contest will be allowed to run for the remainder of the term. The offending RPG will not be allowed to participate in the next contest. If a winning RPG has no new posts for three weeks, that RPG will be closed. The next runner-up from the previous contest will be allowed to run for the remainder of the term.TBRPG Entries The following is what determines a Text-Based RPG entry. The creator of each entry must provide at least: A brief introduction to the RPG.A description of the setting - the time and place the events occur.A history of what has happened leading up to the current situation. The characters and creatures involved. Does this take place in the canonical Bionicle Universe, or is this your own island with its own heroes and villains?A description on how you plan to further to story.Does it follow the actual Bionicle story or take place in a setting of your own creation? Is there an outline on where you plan for it go?Will the players be allowed to choose the direction the story takes? Is there an ultimate goal or quest, or is it merely a world for members to inhabit?Requirements for those wishing to participate in your RPG.Will members be taking the role of existing characters or characters you have created? Can they make their own characters? If so, what sort of restrictions will be placed on them? What sort of equipment, masks, stats, etc will members get when they begin?Rules determining how players will interact with the environment and other characters. How will the winner of battles be determined? How will members buy and upgrade their equipment? Will members level up? 15. After getting a profile approved in the Mess Hall, bring it over here. Please use one post for your profiles, so if you get another approved, edit it into your first post. Thank you!
  16. This is the Mess Hall - the place for any out of game discussion or talking. If you have something to say OOC, post it here, not there. Also, this is where you post any profiles you have for approval. Use the following guidelines and profile. Profiles: You may have up to three profiles, but please try to keep the number of recurring NPCs down to a minimum - there are not many military forces on the island at the moment. You may frequently mention someone who is not in the army on the island, and there is no restriction on them In addition, Crystal is open for use by all PCs that can use an element or have an affinity to one. One will not need special approval for their element if they decide to use this element. The prefix for Crystal is Ki. Typical armor colors are pastels and whites.
  17. Outbreak [Discussion][Profiles] Report of Commander Malik To General Kopaka of The Atero Nuian Republic From Metru Nuva First and foremost, I apologize for not being able to send in my report on Metru Nuva sooner, like you asked me to. An unnatural storm enveloped the island shortly after I arrived here a week ago, and only let up for a short time so I could send this message. Upon arrival, the city appeared to be deserted. I ordered my men to set up base in the Ba-Metru sector of the city, and sent them out to investigate. Quickly, they discovered what had happened in the city, and reported back to me. We readied for a fight, as what they reported was grim. My men had discovered that nearly all of the cities inhabitants had been mutated horribly, being crossed with what appeared to be Rahkshi. In this horrendous form, each of the mutants has access to one Kraata power, of a medium level of strength. There appears to be but one survivor. My men were patrolling Bo-Metru, when the noticed a large figure. Upon further inspection, they realized that it was a being in a modified Exo-Toa. They approached, and began conversation. However, a large number of mutants attacked, and the being stayed behind to hold them off. However, a strange radio broadcast has begun to sound out from Ki-Metru. This was before the Survivor was encountered, and he stated he was not the source. I have ordered my men to locate the source of the broadcast, but they have not been successful. The signal is not strong, and all that can be determined is incoherent mumbling. We do not know what is being said. Plot Summary: A battalion of soldiers arrived to an island city to investigate a distress signal sent out. When the arrived, they found out the island was crawling with aggressive, Rahkshi-like beings. They are filled with a desire to spread their virus, and do so via biting. Past Events: AMN stands for after Mata Nui. It is currently 10 AMN. -[0 AMN] Pohatu and Kopaka were taken off the Red Star by a reincarnated Botar, along with a few other dead members of the Order of Mata Nui, who wanted to make sure that their organization was fine, and wanted to support it. Hydraxon is best friends with himself. -[0 AMN] Velika blew up the fortress. Everyone inside died. -[0 AMN] However, the Great Being instantly came back to life, as his power gave him unintended immortality, due to the fact he was always in contact with himself. By touching the others in the fortress, he revived them as well. -[0 AMN] After freeing the Great Being from his curse, the inhabitants of the fortress decided to hunt down their killer. After finding Velika and interrogating him, Miserix killed the Great Being in disguise. -[0 AMN] Orde, Zaria, Gelu and Chiara allowed themselves to be captured, and then broke free. They found the machine inhibiting their powers, and destroyed it. They then fled from Bota Magna, heading to where they had received their mission. -[1 AMN] Marendar successfully killed three Toa. A group of Skakdi, however, saw the killings, and decided to take revenge on the murderer. Marendar was only programmed to defeat Toa, and as such did not register the Skakdi as threats. This helped to change the public view of Skakdi, from murderers to somewhat respectable beings. -[2 AMN] In a further attempt to help their public view, the Skakdi allowed for the five Toa Mahri to be freed. However, the Mahri saw how the Skakdi people were not evil, and opted to stay with them, and help form the nation of Zakaz Nuva. -[4 AMN] The Toa Nuva formed a new nation, which they called The Atero Nuian Republic. It is the most powerful nation on Spherus Magna, and has the capital of Atero Nui, a new city built meant to honor the past of both the Glatorians and the MU inhabitants. -[5 AMN] The team that fought the Bota Magna Vorox levied support against the intelligent Vorox in The Atero Nuian Republic. War was waged against them, from which the Republic emerged victorious. The war ended in 8 AMN. -[7 AMN] Light Teridax and Miserix work together to form the Northern States, a generally neutral nation focused on scientific advancement and experimentation. -[8 AMN] An island state in the Great Sea is founded by the Atero Nuian Republic, modeled after Metru Nui. It is christened Metru Nuva. Locations Metru Nuva: The island of Metru Nuva is artificial, and was made as a homage to the city of Metru Nui, in the Aqua Magnan sea. It has the same layout, but the actual elements of the different Metrus are different. In clockwise order, starting with what was Ga-Metru on Metru Nui, the Metrus are Ce-Metru, Ki-Metru, Ba-Metru, Vi-Metru, Bo-Metru and finally Fe-Metru. Each of the Metrus had a dedicated purpose. The Atero Nuian troops arrived to Ba-Metru, in the south. Ce-Metru: The northernmost Metru on Metru Nuva, Ce-Metru consists of buildings with a large floor space, but only one or two floors on average. It is filled with laboratories and schools. Most of the laboratories are in good condition, but one has been completely ransacked. For unknown reasons, it has a very large mutant concentration. Ki-Metru: The Crystal district consists of large, grassy parks, and tall skyscrapers made of different shades of lightly colored crystals. Ki-Metru is very beautiful, and as such it was chosen to be the primary residential district. Due to the fact that there were many, many citizens living in this Metru, it has a large amount of Rahkshi in it. Ba-Metru: The Metru of Gravity was where the soldiers landed when the reached. Before the outbreak of the virus, it was used for the construction of gravity manipulating vehicles, and it’s buildings were large hangars that were spread out. The soldiers have cleared it of a large majority of mutants, and are guarding the borders. They have also converted several hangars in the center of the Metru into barracks for themselves. Vi-Metru: The Metru of Lightning was used for it’s expected purpose - that of power generation. Vi-Metru consists largely of power generation, and as such is mostly small buildings clustered around larger ones. Several different forms of power generation are used, such as solar, hydroelectric and several others. Vi-Metru scares the mutants, and as such they avoid it. Bo-Metru: Large, spaced out domes are the landscape in Bo-Metru. Inside these domes are lush forests and farms, which are used for the dual purposes of growing plants and raising animals. Bo-Metru was used for food production in Metru Nuva, as Matoran and other races began the habit of eating with their mouths, as that was how Glatorian ate. The mutants enjoy it here, and it has a high population of them. Fe-Metru: Large spans of desert, lined with canyons are the landscape in Fe-Metru. Lining the canyon walls are many caves, in which small workshops have been set up. Typically, a single production plant occupies one canyon, but smaller businesses do group together in a shared canyon. Mutants populate the surface of this Metru, but do not enter the canyons. Factions: The Atero Nuian Army: The official army of the Atero Nuian Republic, the army is five hundred strong and has arrived to Metru Nuva to investigate what has happened there. Weapon selection varies widely among soldiers, with each soldier being able to decide upon which they will use. Malik is the Commander of the battalion, and leads it from their base in Bo-Metru. He does not go out into the fight often, but when he does, he the strongest fighter in the battalion, due to the fact he is a Toa, with extreme elemental powers and combat training. Each member of the Army typically wears a dark black uniform marked with the symbol for the Three Virtues on either shoulder. Out of fear of the virus being air born, the soldiers were gas masks. The general design is a glass panel in front of the face, with a breathing apparatus at mouth level. Currently, the soldiers only have the few resources they could scavenge in Bo-Metru and what they brought with them. They are scavenging for more in the other Metrus, particularly Ba-Metru, although they are met with great resistance by the mutants. Goals: -Scavenge more food from other Metrus. -Find the Survivor and bring him back to base. -Locate the Leader and determine why it is different. -Find the radio broadcast in Ki-Metru. -Determine what caused the outbreak and where the virus came from. -Work on a cure for the virus. The Mutants: The mutants used to be a wide, diverse selection of races, but now they are all one. They currently resemble Rahkshi, but have some differences. The first is that they walk around on all four legs, and lack a spine. While mutated, they lose all intelligence and access to powers they might have had while unaffected. Instead, they gain one Rahkshi power of Level 4. They have a sole-minded devotion to spreading the virus, which is spread through bites. They are not playable. Their primary advantage is numbers. Important NPCs: Name: Commander Malik Species: Male Ko-Toa Equipment: Malik typically carries four small weapons - two ice picks, and two hatchets. He alternates between his use of the weapons as a pair, or one of each. He prefers to use the hatchets in combat. They confer no special abilities, other than the ability to channel his powers through them. Personality: Malik is like many other members of his element, being cold and impersonal. He is a rigid authority to the battalion, and rarely shows emotion in front of his troops. When not on a mission, however, he is rather friendly and open, unlike the normal vision of a Ko-Toa. Powers and Skills: Malik is a master of his element, that of ice. He can create ice and snow, manipulate the temperature, and can control existing ice and snow. He has had several thousand years to master his powers. In addition, as a Toa, he has a Kanohi mask. Malik wears the Pakari. His Kanohi grants Malik the ability to greatly increase his strength to high levels, allowing him to lift objects he normally would not and make attacks with greater impact. In addition, he has a scope affixed to his mask that allows for telescopic and heat vision. Appearance: Malik stands tall for even a Toa, and has a slender figure. His armor is colored light grey, with bright blue highlights. His eyes and heartlight are a light green coloration. The Pakari he wears resembles a Sanok, and has a small scope over his right eye. Background: Malik is one of the oldest beings from the Matoran universe, being one of the first Toa made. He patrolled what was the left leg of Mata Nui for nearly all of his life, leaving for events such as the Toa-Dark Hunter war in Metru Nui, and other large gatherings of Toa. Malik was responsible for helping inhabitants of the Matoran Universe evacuate it after Makuta had been defeated, and did not participate in any battles. He defused tensions between the Bara Magnans and the former inhabitants of the Matoran Universe. When the Atero Nuian Republic founded, Malik wanted to be on the front lines of any battle, and to be a leader in the army. After Kopaka was appointed General, he gave Malik the position of Commander. Malik led forces against the Bota Magna Vorox, and led his soldiers to victory. Weakness: Malik unparalleled in combat. Name: The Survivor Species: Male, Unknown Equipment: The Survivor uses a modified Exo-Toa in combat and for his protection. On the left arm of the Exo-Toa there is a laser-firing minigun. The right arm is unmodified. On the back there is an energy katana. On top of the right shoulder there is a small rocket barrage. Personality: Desperate, and willing to do anything to survive. The Survivor has not left his Exo-Toa suit for slightly over a week, out of fear of infection by the virus. He is the last uninfected citizen of Metru Nuva. He was very warm and friendly to the squad that encountered him. Powers and Skills: It is unknown what specific powers the Survivor has, as his Exo-Toa suit inhibits any use of them, if he had any. However, he is very proficient with his Exo-Toa suit, and can use it to decimate swarms of the Rahkshi mutants. In the suit, he can take down many of the mutants. Appearance: The actual appearance of the Survivor is unknown, as his Exo-Toa suit encloses him completely. The suit looks like a normal suit, but it has been modified slightly by the Survivor, namely the laser minigun instead of the cannon, and the rocket barrage on the soldier. Background: The Survivor was encountered in Bo-Metru on a regular patrol. The squad that saw him approached him, and found him to be friendly. They began to talk about the status of the island, and about what had happened. The Survivor revealed he was the sender of the distress signal. However, this meeting was not to last. Within minutes of meeting the Survivor, a massive mob of mutants attacked, at the rear of which was a strange mutant that didn't resemble anything the squad had seen. The Survivor ordered the squad to run, as he could hold off the mass of mutants. Weakness: The Survivor cannot use any powers in the Exo-Toa suit. Name: The Leader Species: Ye-Mutant (Poison), Unknown Gender Equipment: The Leader carries a Rahkshi Staff of Poison. How it acquired this Staff is unknown, but it wields it as a weapon and to enhance its Rahkshi Powers, which it can use without wielding the staff. The bottom end of the staff has been broken off, making it resemble a spear. Personality: The Leader is incredibly hostile to all members of the Army, but is not the stupid beast like the rest of the mutants. It is smarter, and appears to be a strategic genius. It is unknown how it is more intelligent, but it appears to be in charge of the mutants. Powers and Skills: A further distance from the rest of the mutants is the Kraata power that the Leader controls. Its control of Poison is at level 6, being able to make any being severely and dangerously ill with physical contact. In addition, it seems to be incredibly intelligent. Appearance: The Leader appears different from the rest of its weaker minions by being taller, and walking on two legs instead of on four. Its armor is a black with green highlights, and its eyes are red. It is easy to spot as being different from the rest of the mutants, and is unique in appearance. Background: The Leader first appeared directing the horde that attacked the Survivor. The few soldiers who had encountered the Leader saw it in the back of the horde, seemingly issuing commands to the rest of the mutants. In the Leader's presence, the mutants focused on the Survivor, not the soldiers. Weakness: Nobody has actually fought the Leader in close quarters combat. Rules and Punishments All BZPRPG and BZP rules are in effect here. Do not godmod, autohit, bunny or metagame. This and the rule above it are pretty standard. Respect any and all GMs. I, Canis, am the main GM. Zakaro is the assistant GM. Use IC for in character posts, and OOC for out of character posts. Also, please keep OOC to a minimum in the gameplay topic. No OOC only posts in the gameplay topic at all. Keep romance and comedy down to a minimum. This is war, not a bad sitcom or comedy. Toa, Makuta, and Botar’s species are banned. To put it simply, they are all absurdly powerful. In addition, they are all very rare at this point in the in game story. Please use proper spelling and grammar in your posts. It's not that hard. The mutants are not weak. Do not thrash them about like they are nothing. All profiles must be approved by staff. This is to ensure that you don't have overpowered characters. Have fun! Punishments: Punishments will only happen with the more serious rules. Breaking Rule Ten or the less serious rules will not be a Strike. 1st Strike: You get a public warning. 2nd Strike: One of your characters is seriously injured. 3rd Strike: All of your characters are seriously injured. One is killed. 4th Strike: All your characters save one are killed. The last is seriously injured. 5th Strike: Your last character is killed. You are banned from the game. Thank you for playing, and have fun! -Canis

  24. Bionicle RPG Forum Text-Based RPG Contest 30 After a slight hiatus, the Bionicle RPG contest has returned! After taking some feedback into consideration, we've made some tweaks to the rules. The big change is that there will be three contests per year now instead of four. Look for the other changes in bold text below. Aside from that, there's no theme for this contest, to submit anything you'd like! Here's how these contests work: The contest will be run every four (4) months, or three (3) times a year. All members are welcome to enter the contest. Each member can only enter one (1) Text-based RPG entry. The only exception to this is that BZPRPG and RPG Contest staff will not be permitted to make entries. There will be three winners selected in every contest. The winners will be the three RPGs with the most votes after one or more rounds of voting (depending on the number of entries).Whether or not a given RPG wins or not, it will be allowed to run in future contests, with the below conditions and restrictions. For and RPG that lost a contest, the creator must make an attempt to alter and improve their entry before entering it in the next contest. If an RPG has won four (4) consecutive contests that it has entered, it can not enter the next four contests. How will they gain experience? The above information can be submitted however the creator prefers. It does not have to be delineated in this way, as long as it is all there. Contest Procedures Here is the format the contest will operate under: Members will have approximately three weeks to draft and submit entries.Entries will be posted in the Contest Submission thread. Any entries posted elsewhere or PMed will be disregarded. At the end of this period, no further entries will be accepted. The entries will be grouped into as few polls as possible for the initial round of voting. Each round of voting will last for two to three days (48-72 hours). The format of subsequent rounds of voting will be determined depending on the number of entries. The three entries with the most votes in the final round of voting will be declared the winners.Any questions can be posted in the Contest Rules Thread or PMed to Contest Host Black Six. NOTE - All current TBRPGs must be submitted as entries if they wish to continue running. Entries can be SUBMITTED from now until 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, January 22nd. You can review other entries and discuss the reviews in the Review Topic.
  25. Marvel: Rebirth -The Story So Far- It’s been a year since the combined power of the American war machine, coupled with S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fledgling reboot of the Avenger Initiative, defended New York City from the HYDRA terrorist forces ravaging the metropolis. Recognized for their efforts and the tactical edge they offered, the surviving members of the Avengers were honored and acknowledged as heroes; for the first time in years, the limelight once again fell upon S.H.I.E.L.D., drawing it and its mysterious commander Col. Nick Fury out of the shadows and into a position of public defense befitting its original United Nations charter. In response, S.H.I.E.L.D. brass began collecting volunteers, America’s best and brightest soldiers, for another mysterious reboot of a previously successful project - the ARCHANGEL Initiative, a modern day spin on the infamous Super Soldier project that generated Captain America. However, after going through training, wave after wave of these recruits are vanishing into thin air, unable - or unwilling - to establish any further contact with the outside world. Meanwhile, on the mutant rights front, the wars no longer rage in American cities; they are waged in the courtroom and on Capitol Hill, where it seems every day that alliances, resolutions, and even Congressional views on the mutant issue shift and shatter like fine china - the political climate isn’t helped by the uneasy fact that there is still not a single mutant representative in any branch of government in the world, as protestors on both sides are increasingly fond of pointing out. The Xavier Institute, once a go-to talking point for mutant debates, has faded into relative political obscurity and now takes in mutants at a slightly declining rate. The X-Men had little-to-no representation in the counterattack against HYDRA, and with two of their most known public faces - known mutant rights crusader Dr. Hank McCoy, and Ashlynn Summers, oldest child of Scott Summers and the Phoenix, Jean Grey - apparently dead as a result of the aftermath of the battle, the team is considered all but disbanded, and many members have taken up supporting roles in the Institute itself. On the flip side of that coin is the increasingly-leftist, always growing Brotherhood of Mutants, which has undergone a seemingly radical shift in tone since the public execution of Magneto’s son and heir Pietro “Quicksilver” Maximoff over a year ago. Heading up the new organization is Dominik Lord, a former lieutenant of Pietro’s who survived the government purge of what Brotherhood forces remained on Genosha. As a charming, new age former thief from the streets of Chicago, he has become the face of the mutant equality movement, and pro-mutant activists have taken to Lord the way Internet freedom activists took to Edward Snowden or liberal arts students took to Che Guevara. Handsome, charismatic and well-mannered, he has utilized video broadcasts, “fireside chats” on Reddit, and public appearances in the mutant underground to garner support for the oppressed and the reviled before using his power of escapism through light sources to slip through the fingers of authorities like sand. Dominik’s movement gains more traction everyday; mutants and their supporters are massing more and more in cities large and small, circulating petitions, demanding change from Washington. Sitting on the sidelines of the entire conflict is the ubiquitous, powerful Hellfire Club. Over the course of the last year their public activity has boosted now more than ever, gaining more funds, forging more connections, and swaying more allies in a year than the previous Inner Circle could in seventeen. The considerable inflation in power comes courtesy of Alaric and Anberlyn Worthington, children of Warren Worthington III, or Angel, current headmaster of the Xavier Institute. In answer for their father’s real and perceived wrongs they led a coup inside the very power structure of the Inner Circle, assuming the roles of Black King and White Queen respectively as well as all titles and benefits inherent. The twins work as a solid unit, trusting no one else above each other, and have stuck now to biding their time until the right moment; Alaric in particular, as a former team captain of the X-Men thought dead by those at the Institute, has stuck to pulling subtly on the strings of the mutant rights debate raging throughout the country, inflaming and assuaging his political or business contacts where need be while Annie is left to her own devices, plotting her own, darker revenge against the Worthington name. Lines in the sand are drawn and erased every day; friends and enemies thought dead appear from thin air, and those whose loyalty once seemed unshakable can now be swayed with no more than the light breeze of vague promises and unproven words; mutants and humans are forced to take new sides every day, or even form their own sides. The conflict is coming to a head at last. -A Brief Refresher Course- Though a year has passed since the end of the darkest days, the ramifications from the events during them are still being felt heavily in the world at large. Eighteen years ago, the Phoenix Force returned and wiped out the vast majority of empowered beings, reducing the superhero, and villain, population to a shadow of what it once was. Seventeen years later, Hank McCoy, the then headmaster of the Institute, formed the next generation of the X-Men to counter the resurgence in Brotherhood activity, and the increasing abuse by the Enforcers. Though their skirmishes made headline news, they did not know that a more sinister threat lurked. Weapon X struck a surprise blow against the Institute, capturing the majority of its residents. The few that remained were forced to flee and hope to fight again another day. Eventually, they joined forces with the Brotherhood against the mutual enemy, storming and razing the Weapon X facility. Meanwhile, the Avengers Initiative began again in secret, it's roster filled with descendants from the original members. Thus, as the Hellfire Club began to reform, began a shaky, two month long peace. But it was not to last. In response to conflict in Las Vegas, the X-Men's temporary alliance with the Brotherhood, and the assassination of President Binder, MACE was formed to stop the mutant threat. They succeeded. The majority of the mutant population was rendered toothless, a fact that an old enemy quickly took advantage of. Hydra attacked New York City, quickly eliminating the SHIELD forces caught off guard within the city. The Helicarrier quickly fell, leaving the defense of the city to the assorted personnel nearby, including the fledgling Avengers and members of the Pantheon Initiative. Despite their efforts, defeat seemed inevitable, until the military successfully mobilized to give aid. Following the battle for New York, as it was quickly dubbed by the media, the world has not been the same. The X-Men were decimated, the Avengers sustained heavy casualties, and SHIELD's lack of readiness had been revealed. Hydra was a viable threat once more, the Brotherhood had scattered to the winds, and the United States was in political shambles. A year has passed since then. Factions S.H.I.E.L.D (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) – Founded to combat technologically advanced threats on world security (specifically the menace of Hydra), S.H.I.E.L.D. has, throughout the years, remained on the front lines fighting terrorism and extraterrestrial menaces as an international intelligence agency. Led by Nick Fury. UPDATE: After the resounding success of the Archangel Initiative in repelling HYDRA, SHIELD is riding a public relations high equal to that of their popularity with the first Avengers Initiative. Xavier Institute for Higher Learning - A preparatory school in Westchester, New York, the Xavier Institute is a safe haven for any mutant adolescents - or even adults - who feel the need to take refuge, learn to hone their own genetic abilities, and learn to manage themselves in social environments around other humans and mutants. Led by Headmaster Warren Worthington III. UPDATE: In the face of the HYDRA threat, the X-Men reunited for the first time in two years at the Second Battle of New York. The team's future is looking to be at its most solid since their shattering defeat at Las Vegas. The Brotherhood of Mutants – An increasingly public, but still enigmatic, organization of mutants organized to promote, at the very least, mutant equality, if not outright leadership over society. Their members are often outcasts from society due to their mutant status. They fight against the abuse and hatred of mutant-kind in all its forms, by whatever means necessary. Led by Dominik Lord. HYDRA - HYDRA is a criminal organization dedicated to the achievement of world domination through terrorist and subversive activities on various fronts, resulting in a fascist New World Order. Its extent of operations is worldwide; always attempting to elude the ongoing counter-espionage operations by S.H.I.E.L.D. At its height, HYDRA was the most extensive, powerful, and dangerous such organization in history. Led by Red Skull. UPDATE: After a final pitched battle with the forces of SHIELD and the resurgent X-Men, Red Skull has been killed. HYDRA is battered and broken, and what remains of the organization is now led by a splinter cabal that includes Ophelia Sarkissian, the Viper, and the resurrected Howard Stark amongst its members. Hellfire Club - A society for the rich and the prestigious, the Hellfire Club is a seemingly noble and ancient gathering of the world’s wealthiest or most endowed personalities to discuss world events and make connections. Their secretive Inner Circle, however, takes that purpose to a new and often sinister level, maneuvering governments, starting wars, and assassinating figures who pose a threat to their own agendas and interests as singular members or a group. Co-led by former X-Men deputy and Black King Alaric Carlisle and Romulus, former Emperor of Rome and White King. ??? - A mysterious splinter organization headed up by Norman Osborn, CEO of Oscorp. One of its operatives is Daken Akihiro, Wolverine’s eldest trueborn son and world-famous assassin, revived from near-death by mysterious means. Nothing else is known of their influence or agenda at this point in time. Profile Form: Name: (What your character calls him/herself) Codename: (Your character’s name on official missions; may or may not be used as a sort of nickname for your characters.) Gender: (No explanation needed, we’re all informed people here) Age: (It’s just a number, but try to include it anyway!) Loyalties/Faction: (One of the factions listed above, other faction, or unaligned. Can also list certain other characters important to your own character’s life here. ) Power(S): (What can your character do? Please try to make your character’s powers within reason and balanced and non-overpowered. No more than three powers per character; don't try and give your character as many powers as possible, because the primary reason we approve characters is not for how many powers they have, it's whether those powers are balanced fairly and able to fit into the game's setting.) Appearance: (What your character looks like.) Weapons: (Within reason please.) Skills: (Things your character is good at.) Personality: (Your character’s behaviors, how they interact with others, how they think about things.) Weakness: (Everyone has weaknesses, powers or no. Try to make them clear.) Bio: (Your character’s history. Can be almost anything really, try to make it at least a couple sentences.) Rules 1. No godmodding. This includes metagaming, autohitting, bunnying, and performing actions your character should be incapable of doing. 2. Use IC (In-Character) and OOC (Out of Character). 3. OOC only posts are forbidden. That’s what the discussion topic is for. 4. Profiles should be posted in the discussion topic for approval. The phrase “Darkest Days” must be included at the beginning of said post to prove that you have read these rules. 5. Respect the staff. 6. This game uses a tier outline for its punishment system. We do, however, reserve the right to skip over a tier if the offense warrants it. The first offense will result in a warning. The second in either in-game character injury/death, or a temporary ban. The third offense will result in a very weighty consequence, while the fourth and final offense will result in a permanent ban. The Staff's Guide to Common Sense This RPG is based around superpowered individuals, and there will always be a discrepancy between that and what we would call realistic. However, that does not give you free rein to toss realism aside. First of all, this game's science is the same as the real world unless otherwise noted. That means that fire will not form into a bullet like projectile, you cannot pull off feats beyond a normal human unless noted in your profile, you cannot shrug off attacks, and you cannot simply beat NPCs senseless. Nor are the police and military incompetent. A teenager is not going to easily beat a trained soldier, powers or not, without a good explanation. Especially in the Marvel world, where superheroes are a known occurrence. Expies and This RPG Expies are strongly, strongly, strongly discouraged. Don't come in here expecting to make Master Chief, don't come in here expecting to make Mass Effect characters, don't come in here expecting to expy Solid Snake. Don't come in here expecting to make Marvel characters, either. You do not get to play a generations xerox of Wolverine. If you want to do that, go play one of the video games. Which leads me to my next point... Healing Powers and This RPG Healing powers are not an insta-heal ticket. This happened a lot in the original game, and it will not be tolerated here. This section is divided into two major portions; Healing powers that target the self, such as healing factors, and healing powers that target others. I will begin by covering the latter, because it is simpler. Healing powers cannot instantly heal major injuries with no effort. This happened a lot last game too, even though the powers were supposed to have limitations to keep this from happening. They can start to heal a major injury, even heal it most of the way, given enough time, but never completely. Not unless you have plenty of time to work and a lot of energy. I expect players to use their judgement, but healing powers will be monitored closely in this game. Now, healing factors. Last game, healing factors were treated as miraculous powers that could heal anything as long as there was a single cell with intact DNA. And do it quickly. This is not even remotely the case. A healing factor is an increased speed of healing, which means that it cannot heal anything that the body could not heal from normally. It just does it much, much faster. Healing factors are going to be heavily monitored in this game, and their speed must be kept within reasonable limits. As it is most usually associated with healing factors, adamantium skeletons are explicitly forbidden. Power Levels and This RPG You may note that the profile sheet reads three or so powers. That is the guideline, but it is not the entire way that it works. Multiple powers will be approved if they are all reasonable, and not too powerful together. But you may be limited to one power, maybe two, if it is an extremely powerful one. We are not looking at numbers, we are looking at power balances. Which means that in addition to the above, if you have a powerful ability that might be approved on another character, but no real weakness, we reserve the right to disapprove it on the grounds of power imbalance. Staff -Aikuro Mikisugi [Tyler] -Riku Tryon [Alex] - Sam Vimes [Nick] -Lara Croft [stari] Staff NPC Profiles The staff control a variety of NPCs important to the plot.
