  1. FINAL BUMP EDIT: I would like to thank the 100+ people who join(ed) this club that Turakii, Avohkah Tamer, Laughin'Man, and I started. I expected, at the most, maybe 15 people to sign up. To reach a full 100 is mind-staggering. Even though I'm sure we all knew there were plenty of us who still wanted to honor Bionicle this way, it's nice to actually see the evidence. In celebration of this, I will make one last bump to this entry and will begin working on a permanent content block with a full list of names. Of course I will continue to accept more members joining and add them in. All in all, this kinda gives a person warm, fuzzy, unity-duty-destiny feelings. Thanks a ton, guys. -TN I'm really not one for forming clubs (sure, I tried it once in the past), but it just seems to me we could use a club like this. Even if nobody joins, it seems worthy of bringing attention to. After discussing it with my "colleagues", we thought we'd go for it. This club is for the true fans of Bionicle. Obviously the definition of a "true" fan is open to interpretation, but we are quite confident that we've come as close to hitting the nail on the head as anyone could. So we shall explain what we believe a true fan to be. A true fan isn't blind. A true fan is willing to admit and live with truths that many refuse to accept to the point where they fool themselves. Bionicle was great, but it wasn't completely void of flaws. If you believe that Bionicle was perfect in every single aspect, I'm sorry but you're wrong. Nothing in this world, no matter how great, is absolutely perfect. Hero Factory is here to stay. A true fan of Bionicle will accept that. Boycotting Hero Factory and condemning it to the deepest pits of Karzahni won't help anything. What many fail to realize is that, just because you shouldn't hate on Hero Factory doesn't mean you have to embrace and love Hero Factory and name your first-born after it. You can like both Hero Factory and Bionicle if you want to, or you can not. A true Bionicle fan keeps it alive through discussion and using it as inspiration for creativity. Storming LEGO, sending them threats, and other forms of wanting to force TLC to continue the Bionicle set line is, in a sense, disrespectful to the Bionicle theme we love. To do so is to act like a spoiled child who throws a tantrum the first time they're told, "no". "Keep in mind that if Star Trek fans had, as a group, said, "No point in talking about this anymore, it's never going to come back," it never WOULD have come back." The words of GregF have been quoted to the point where it's almost become stale, but there is a point to be made. GregF wasn't telling us to run Bionicle into the ground with "relentless and unerring" dedication as some seem to think. If you want to know what GregF was saying then take it for what it is. Star Trek fans didn't go nuts for years and years with petitions, raids, boycotts, etc. until it was brought back. They just kept having fun with it same as they always had and that is precisely what did bring it back. Even if you didn't get the sets towards the end or you've "lost interest and moved on", I'm sure you can agree that Bionicle still had a great run. One doesn't need to worship Bionicle as a religion to be a true fan. This is what we, the true fans of Bionicle, believe. EDIT: Because some people seem to be misunderstanding some things, I'd like to add these in... QUOTE I'd like to point out that I'm actually not against petitions and the like. In fact, I believe that, at some point, a petition or two might actually do some good. As I said, it's when people go absolutely nuts about it that it's probably not going to do much good. From what I've seen, all these petitions seem to be fueled more by simply RAAAGE and anger than the actual desire to have the sets recontinued. A civilized petition? Yes. A petition formed by people who are all "SEE THIS, LEGO? THIS IS THE NAMES OF 20 PEOPLE WHO ABSOLUTELY LOATHE AND HATE YOU FOR DISCONTINUING BIONICLE, YOU #####!"? I'm gonna go with "no". Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places, but I've yet to see any other kind. QUOTE "Hero Factory is here to stay" might have been a poor choice of wording. Of course I don't believe that Hero Factory is going to be "permanent". I just as much expect it to only last so long, unless something drastic develops. I simply meant that sending petitions to restart the Bionicle line, death threats for starting Hero Factory, etc. isn't going to bring Hero Factory to a screeching halt. Even if the community did convince LEGO to recontinue Bionicle sets tomorrow, that doesn't mean they're just gonna drop Hero Factory in an instant. In fact, I'd much sooner expect that if Bionicle came back so soon we'd see the two themes running parallel rather than cancelling Hero Factory just because Bionicle was popular again. So long as Hero Factory is working for LEGO, they aren't likely to cancel it until they feel it's for the best, just as it was with Bionicle I'm sure. Hope this clears that up. Of course, no club can be without a shnazy banner. Many thanks to Laughin'Man for contributing this while I was piecing things together... Oh geez, 11 years

Uh so technically I got this shiny new spinny yesterday but also technically it is still the 18th in some parts of the world so this entry is only mostly late. However, I have an excuse! Well, excuses, plural. One was packing to head back to uni for my last semester. Another was working on research ahead of classes starting up Tuesday. Third and most important was The World's End. And if you've seen that movie, you know there is a line in it that I would love to be able to put in a BZP- or Lego-related post, but given the nature of these films and the fact I quite like not giving the filter a heart attack, that is never ever ever ever ever going to happen. Those of you who have seen the movie, please imagine that line in your heads now. It's beautiful, isn't it? I probably have quite a bit to say about me and BZP if I put my mind to it, but it is now 1 in the morning here and I probably should be at least somewhat awake tomorrow morning. So the short version is: BZP, you were my first forum, I'm glad I came back after those many years, you still have a great community, you also still have your issues, but it does me good to see positive change happening, and here's to years to come. Oh! Right! Another reason: I was helping back up some old family videotapes. Including ones from January 2003. I was squeakier back then.
  3. After bionicle finished this site was in updation, for a long time when we needed it most so I did the math and found out this site has 47,680 members and under 600 have been on at once since the update so I am organising a event everyone who can will come online, january 1st at 18.00 in Britian but different places have different times so you'll have to find when it starts in your time zone, we will all stay on for 1hour just to make sure also make sure you tell everyone
  4. Are you super-psyched for The Lego Movie? Would you like a chance to hang out with some fellow BZP members? Has it been too long since you've visited a Lego store? Well, check it out! I'm trying to arrange a meetup for a bunch of us to get together at Tyson's Corner or Potomac Mills and watch the movie, visit the Lego store, and just generally have a good time. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, head over to the topic! I need all of your input to make this meetup as cool as possible!
  5. Hey there people/staff of BZP, It has been a while since I have been here on BZPower, and I am still trying to transition back into here. What are the new signature regulations? Because I remembered you used to have a certain sized banner and you can only have a limited amount of external links that can be linked on your signature. I was wondering what are the acceptable external links and what are the unacceptable external links (Ex: I noticed Deviantart is an acceptable website and some YouTube videos), because I need a whole rundown or list of what can be linked here or what is not acceptable, because I don't want to break any rules. So, can you help answer my question? Thanks! -Lehvorak

  7. Hello there! I do not intend to be rude, but if I may, could I ask some questions about the Lego Based Creation(s) forum? Assuming one may say yes (sorry), I would like to inquire in that I do have things I like to think of, but do not not have necessary parts to build and if I do, they are attached to sets I am not fond of breaking. Is one allowed to post images from building related applications and websites (such as Lego Digital Designer)? Do not created from not created from handmade parts count as creations, and if so, would they warrant their own threads? And if one were to post images or create threads from these, what is the penalty if these are against the rules and count as spam? I apologise if I have annoyed everyone, and I thank you all for your patience in advance.I hope you have a nice day!
  8. (Disclaimer: Most of the below was written at like, 1 AM, and it got a bit rambly.) I like writing stories. I dunno if you've noticed, but it's true. I also tend to be busy with school. I dunno if you've noticed, but that's also true. It seems appropriate to blog about the two, since they've been eating up most of my life lately. So that's what I'm doing. Blogging. About stories. And also school. Yeah. In all seriousness, though - I've got stories to tell. Well, eventually. I've got stories percolating, I guess. One's in the oven right now, another's in the crock-pot, there's one in the freezer that I've got to get around to pulling out and actually baking one of these days, there's one with the ingredients mostly lined up and one that's just a scribbled note on the fridge, to bring this tortured food metaphor to a close. So here they are. Journey: I've mentioned this on-and-off in my blog. It's over on the sidebar there, with a working title and a question mark by the date. It wound up being my NaNo this year, y'see. 50,000 words in three weeks, and still a war to go. It's been fun to write, I've got to say. With all due respect to GregF, there was so much more just waiting to be done with that alternate-universe-light-Teridax. "Villain except good" is boring. "Villain born of wholly different circumstances, whose personality is still rooted in the same faults and strengths of the original, put face-to-face with the destruction he's capable of" is fun. I wrote him in The Shadow and the Sea and was wholly unsurprised when he pulled a sequel hook into the ending. Never mind the half-mad once-Chronicler who winds up as the Makuta's partner. Or charge. Or enemy. It gets a bit blurry at times. And then there's the world said Makuta came from. What kind of Great Beings make the Makuta and then has them act as bodyguards and big shiny lightbulbs? (Ones that are quite fun to write and explore, for what it's worth, even if they aren't major players in the story.) Incidentally, the story's an absolute wreck right now. There's still two major chunks of plot to go, for one thing. Trying very hard to figure out who to kill and why. Re-reading sections and going "oh god there's so much talk of darkness and light you'd think this was a bad Kingdom Hearts fanfic rather than a hopefully decent Bionicle one." But wrecks are fun. You get to go back with a chainsaw and chop off all the messy bits, then dig straight into the heart of the thing and pull it out to the surface. If you haven't gone Mola Ram on your story, it's not done yet. (Also, "Journey" is still, technically, a working title. The trouble with working titles, though, is that you get used to them.) "Shadows' Gravesides": Now this one's an interesting case. To go back to the horrible metaphor, this is the one in the freezer. It's mostly written - I'd say about three-fourths. But somewhere along the line bits of it wound up spilling into Journey, and now it's sort of sitting there staring at me puppy-eyed. I may have to go back and finish it at some point before (or while? or after?) I start posting Journey. Bits and pieces aside, it might be fun to use it to do some thematic mirroring. Komae: Granted, he's not a story, he's a character. (Personally I'm not sure there's much difference.) The BZRPG's one of those things I've enjoyed my time in, even if said time is limited. I've got ideas, you see, and it's always fun to fling them out the window and go do something completely different. (There's also two other BZRPG ideas waiting in the wings. One's got a name, a species, a trait, and little else; the other's got a species, a job idea, and still needs a name. When will they show up? Heck if I know. Probably not in the next three weeks, for reasons to be detailed below.) Time Travelers: This is the one that's ingredients and little else. It's strange; this was the one I first went, "oh, I'll write this epic!" for, and now it's by far the least likely to ever get written. That hasn't stopped me from sowing a few seeds in Journey (on the contrary, it's quite fun building up these little connections), but make the question mark in "2014?" bolded in your mind. But maybe someday. (You may also recall I've mentioned an obscure adventure game by the name of Time Travelers; that was indeed the spark of inspiration, and if I ever do write this I'll leave a few homages in. Title'll probably change, though.) ...And then there's stories that have nothing to do with BZP at all, of course. Like the one I'm hoping to write next summer - the one with corporations that make kappas and the HR recruiter who's sick and tired of all these demons that keep talking down to her. That one's going to be fun too, I think. ------------------- Only problem is: there was something else in the title of this post, wasn't there. School, right. College, uni- whatever you want to call it. The thing that eats up time. It's weird to think I'm nearly done with my education (for now, at least). I'm in my penultimate semester, and between class and research my days are more than busy enough. (Things are going to be really packed from next week until two or so weeks later, so if I'm MIA from the 2nd to the 16th, there's your reason why.) I'll probably sit down and reflect on this whole 'education' thing more once I've actually graduated, but - it's been interesting. School's been a titanic part of my life, and especially these last two years, I've devoted tons of time to it. All those stories above still come second to making sure I get my papers done or my presentations ready to go. It's been rewarding, both personally and practically, but I'm getting ready to move on, I think. I know my limits, and I'm not anywhere close to burning out, but I've been tired this semester. It says a lot that I'm able to churn out 50,000 words of Toa and Makuta in three weeks, but the thought of writing an intersectional cultural autobiography of myself and the role the educational institutions I've attended played in my social development - a topic which is actually really interesting - that's likely to be a tenth that length just feels heavy at this point, for lack of a better term. I'm sure that in a year I'll be looking back on the whole thing fondly, but for now - I've come this far. I'm pretty ready to be done. ------------------- ...Sorry, things got a little heavier than expected at the end there. Point is - stories. I don't know when they'll get done, exactly (the hope for Journey is to start posting it in January, but you never know), but they're coming along, for the most part. BZP's always been a place for stories in my mind. Back when I first joined, I remember seeing so many stories. GaliGee, or T-Hybrid (was that his name? I'm pretty sure it was, but that was a decade (geez) ago), or plenty of others - they told stories, and they helped give this community life. Things are quieter now, but I like to think BZP's still got that spark of creativity. I guess it's just part of our DNA - I mean, this is a Lego forum. Building is what it's all about, in the end. At the end of the day, we create, and we enjoy what our fellow members do. The RPGs are all big ol' melting pots of people flinging stories at each other and seeing what sticks; we still get plenty of MOCs, our fair share of artworks and crafts, even a Matoran Dictionary or two - it brings a smile to my face. Basically: you're all right, BZP. You make stuff - good stuff. And I'm proud to be part of that. (Disclaimer, addendum: Told you it got rambly. Hopefully I'll have slightly saner entries in a few weeks.)
  9. Due to entries from this period being lost, a condensed version has been made available for your convenience. real quick yo

Arguing on the internet rarely ever accomplishes anything, but I believe it does have the potential to become a positive force for social change if used with care and discretion. Getting angry about injustice is a good thing. Sending hate, being bitter and spiteful, and mocking people is a bad thing. I believe that kindness towards people is never a bad approach. Calling out bad and toxic opinions, however, is appropriate and justified. I will not muddle the issue here: if your beliefs and opinions are called out for being bad, you may be offended, confused, and hurt. BUT. Being hurt and feeling like people are disrespecting your opinions is entirely different from people disrespecting your worth as a human. This means that not tolerating someone for a personal trait is not the same thing as not tolerating someone's opinions. Personal traits such as sexuality, gender identity, skin tone, etc, are not decisions that can be changed through argument and are therefore not equal to opinions and beliefs. So being kind to people, that's an imperative. Accepting their toxic beliefs is not because it is not an intrinsic part of who they are. You may be hurt that someone has disrespected your opinion. That's understandable and that's acceptable. But don't equate the worth of that belief with the worth of a human being. They're not the same. This isn't a debatable issue, they simply aren't. So here's what I'm saying. None of us should simply accept toxic views. It's our job to not only call out dangerous and offensive ideas, but more importantly to educate the person with those beliefs as to why they are wrong. Without education, informed change cannot happen. But disrespecting the misinformed person, that's not cool. Let me clarify: I have not seen any disrespectful behavior towards members come out of these debates. I have, however, noticed a negative and unhealthy attitude spring from my own words and actions over the past few months, and it personally concerns me. I apologize for anyone I've lashed out at. I'm not going to say that to be hurtful wasn't my intention, because it was. I was wrong to say many of the things I've said both on and off site and I'll be attempting to readjust my attitude to be a better person to everyone here in my community. Arguing isn't really worth anything to me, so I won't be responding with anything that doesn't need to be said.

    An important post

I try not to get involved with flare-ups here in the blogs, because I know there's a good chance that if I do I'll wind up with my foot in my mouth and egg on my face. This isn't an exception to that - instead I'd just like to say something important that I hope people already know but I'd like to reiterate given there's been a lot of LGBTQ+ discussion lately. If you are LGBTQ+, I support and accept you. As someone outside of these groups, I don't have the personal experience that many others here do, but I am always willing to talk and listen. And if I say or do something insensitive or hurtful, let me know, because I recognize this is a complicated topic and my knowledge is limited. I say this both as a person who supports LGBTQ+ rights, and as an FM who wants to be sure that everyone feels welcome and safe to come speak to him if they need someone to talk to. That's all.
  12. After seven years, the title is finally official! I am the Piraka Fusionist! It's still built! It even came to BrickFair this year! I'll probably bring it to BrickCon because why not?* It's nowhere near a decent MOC, especially after I've built other, better things, but this guy has to have a special place in my heart, and there isn't anything I'd change about it. (Well, that tail's tip is pretty ridiculous. Hey, I was 16.) Just go look at one of my posts and look at my new, fancy title! -CF *Luggage. That's why not.
  13. *does the thing* *logs right back off*
  14. Hello again, folks! I know I promised to be on BZPower more, but I sadly have been busy with various things related to school for the last month. However, I have been busy MOCing and writing, and so now I bring some new updates on various topics! First of all, after watching Star Trek into Darkness, I saw a slew of new summer movies over the next few weeks, the most awesome of which was Pacific Rim. That movie, in all its brawling, Super Robot Wars-esque Jaegers vs. Kaiju glory, got me thinking about an appropriate entry for the Titans and Monsters Contest, which led to my latest creation, Vermillion Tempest! Inspired by the likes of Gipsy Danger, it's sure to strike fear into the hearts of pint-sized Kaiju everywhere, and as Stacker Pentecost so memorably said, "bring the fight to them!" Of course I have been busy with other MOCs too. There's the Hummaera I built for BBC #65, which I am proud to say is roosting in Virginia right now at Brickfair. And then there's a little blue robot I made, the Tactically Corpulent Drone, which is so chubby and cute you just want to scream. Finally, after Hahli Husky graciously gave us permission to repost old stories in the Epics forum, I have reposted the first epic in my Terra Nui Trilogy, The Power Within. It's not my most refined or best piece of fan-fiction, but it got me started here on BZPower, and I'm still proud that I finished it and became a better writer in composing its sequels. But it's back for your viewing pleasure, along with a review topic for the entire trilogy, which can be accessed here. I'll be posting a chapter a day, I expect, so stay tuned! ~B~
  15. more like what is wrong with you people
  16. I've just finished registering all the MOCs for BrickFair that people have sent me, and just in time too as MOCs submitted after today (ie in the next 20 minutes of typing this) won't have their MOC cards printed out and I'd have had to do that myself. And what dawned on me was how cool our fanbase is that we have art to go along with our MOCs. Aside from Greg Hyland's art here and there, I can't think of another theme displayed at conventions that have fan-made art accompanying their MOCs, aside from the MOCs themselves. And that is something for all you artists to pat yourselves on the back for. -CF (Five days! (My festivities start in 2!))

    Today was a good day

Not pictured: Shiny new advertising policy which means I can finally say YOUTUBE and TUMBLR The Clikit Supertramps Macklemore Tons of free food The guided tour of the Boeing factories Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
  18. In the good old days on the archive boards, there seemed to be a problem with flamewars and sharp-tongued disagreements of various sorts. These days, the boards seem to have quieted down, and I think that there is less animosity in general around here yonderabouts. Do you agree with me? If so, why? Is it because BZP isn't as invested in newer Lego themes? Has more mature members? An implicit consensus that it's not worth fighting in a sinking ship? (Or a sunken ship? )Or am I merely frequenting the more pleasant parts of the board?
  19. Are there any nicknames that users on BZPower use to refer to you? (and/or shortenings/misspellings of your username that are common?) If so, what are they? Does that annoy you?Do you have any nicknames that you use for other members?
  20. Current episode: We all wanted to travel in the sky once in our lifetime. Season 1: Episode 0: Prologue PGS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. GS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. PM me for details regarding PGSs and GSs. Credits: Gerlicky and Dark709 for the Six-Shade Chimoru Omega Dark709 for Chimoru Omega. More will be added as I try out new kits in the series. It's great to be back in comic making. I hope my reboot of my comic making is successful.
  21. Maybe I'm stupid for asking this, but... I've lately noticed a lot of members saying that they have moved on, don't like Bionicle anymore, "used to" like Bionicle, etc. Many have said that they stay only for the community, or the RPGs. Not that I have anything against those people, but I'm still into Bionicle, as much as when it was alive, really. So what about you guys? Anybody still have about the same level of interest in Bionicle that they did before? (NOTE: Please don't take this as an accusation of not being a Real True Fan © or something. I swear, if you've moved on to Hero Factory or simply other, non-elemental-robot related interests, that's totally okay with me.)
  22. So now that this semester is finally drawing to a close, I'm actually starting to have free time again! It's crazy. Anyway, in the interest of keeping this short and sweet, here's two things I plan to do with said free time: I'm finally going to be able to sit down, finish hashing out this outline for my epic (total aside, but I've always thought 'epic' was a bit flowery a term for 'multi-chapter story', but whatevs), and get down to writing it this summer. It's a follow-up to The Shadow and the Sea in that it takes place afterwards and follows Alternate!Teridax and a certain other character, but other than that 'starting point' it's not a direct sequel. It's looking more and more likely that I'm going to give the BZRPG a shot this summer as well. So! BZRPG people: what advice can you give to a fledgling newbie? (I've already read through the FAQs, backstory for the year, and Friar Tuck's Common Sense guide, of course, and I've got a rough character drawn up.) Most likely, I'd be starting sometime next week, since I'll be without internet this weekend. And in other news, lots of Ace Attorney 5 goodness happening. English release! Japanese demo! Edgeworth! This is all very exciting if, like me, the lives of fictional lawyers keep you entranced.
  23. Welcome to A BZComedy! This comedy has no point other than humor. Oh, and Bionicle sets taking over Antarctica. But that's not very important. Heave ho! _________________________________________ Chapter 1: Everybody loves Antarctica! A long, long time ago yesterday, there lived a bunch of Bionicle sets in a warehouse in the deserts of Utah. Now, you may wonder, how on Earth are these Bionicle sets alive, and why are they in the desert?! Good for you. -------------------------------- "I'm booored!" "I know." "I'm BOOOOORREEED!" "I KNOW! WE ALL KNOW! YOU'RE BORED!" Such was the conversation between Tahu Nuva and Lewa Mata on this otherwise calm afternoon. "Well, you haven't DONE anything about it!" Lewa said. "Why is this MY problem?!" Tahu shot back. "The rest of us are fi-" Tahu was interrupted by a scream followed by sounds of barking and chomping. "MOST of us," Tahu corrected. "MOST of the rest of us are fine." "Well, I DON'T feel fine!" "Believe it or not, the world does not revolve around YOU, Lewa." "Yes it does. Anyways, do you at least have any ideas?" "Good grief. I don't know, maybe we could take over Antarctica or something." And then, Lewa got an idea. A terrible, awful idea. Lewa got a wonderful, horrible idea. "Shut up, it's a good idea!"-------------------------------------- All of the Bionicle sets had gathered into the center of the warehouse after word had reached them that Lewa would be making an announcement. Lewa walked in and pulled out a soapbox from behind his back, then promptly stood on it. "Friends, fiends, and Jaller," Lewa began, "I have gathered you here today to make a very important anouncement, the likes of which hath never been uttered by man nor by plastic, by beast nor by fowl, by fish nor by nocturnal flying mammal, by Klingon nor by-" "Get on with it!" "Yeah, get on with it!" "YEAH!" "Okay, fine!" Lewa said. "You ever heard of Antarctica?" "Yes." Turaga Nuju said from the back of the crowd. "We're moving there." There was much yelling and confusion that followed. Streets were destroyed, shops burned down, and ice cream manufacturers shot down with flamethrowers. You gotta admit, they were able to squeeze a lot of stuff in that warehouse. "Calm down, everybody!" Lewa yelled. A sternum flew past Lewa's face. "I said CALM DOWN!" Two legs and a magnet flew past his right arm. "IF YOU PEOPLE DON'T SHUT UP IMMEDIATELY, SO HELP ME I WILL COME DOWN THERE, TURN YOU ALL INTO CHICKENS, AND MURDER YOU WITH MY AX SO I CAN HAVE FREE KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN FOR DINNER TONIGHT!" "You're a Toa of Air." Teridax said. "How would you fry us?" "We have internet access." Lewa stated. "There's enough flaming in video comments alone to burn down Mount Everest." "That's nice and all, but how do we control this crazy mob?" Tahu Nuva asked. "Oh, come on." Lewa said. "It can't be THAT bad!" A sudden scream burst from the inside the mob. "They're eating her! And then they're going to eat me! OH MY NUUUUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!" "Yes it can." Tahu said. "Whatever!" Lewa exclaimed. "It doesn't matter anyhow! We shall leave immediately for Antarctica, and whoever joins us, joins us! Bionicle sets, AWAY!"----------------------------------------------------- NEXT TIME: Bionicle takes over Antarctica! How will our heroes handle the ever-present threat of penguin attacks?! Stay tuned to find out!
