  1. So like, is this a thing?
  2. Makuta Malvorix A devilish fiend of a Makuta who toys with Toa and Matoran alike by reanimating their fallen comrades’ corpses. His mastery of the Tryna makes him a trickster by nature and one who plays dirty at that. His puppets are not there for show- he only needs a piece of dna or the essence of a toa’s life energy to tie them to the puppets, making them move as he sees fit. Beware, he never backs down from a challenge and is always happy to put on a horror show for the spectators (and future victims) in attendance. I don’t draw villains a lot. Malvorix was a joy to draw and I hope you all enjoy as well. Can you spot the easter eggs? Originally submitted to the Bionicle Art Squad as part of the 'Design a Makuta" challenge. Check out this topic for the First Toa Team Project, where I try to revive and provide personalities to each member of Lesovikk's Team before they were wiped out by the Zyglak. http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/11753-the-first-toa-team-project/ Don't be afraid to comment! Feedback is greatly appreciated.
  3. This is a CCBS Remake of the the classic 2003 Makuta set. When designing him, the breakthrough was the shoulder design. I was able to use two torso armors and a shoulder armor on a tiny torso to make the shoulders resemble the armor on the original set. The full gallery can be found here. Comments are appreciated!
  4. Miras is back! With a slightly modified edition of the last version I posted! 5. What is your favorite Makuta? (had to type it, even though the title is pretty self explanatory, but whatever.) Why is he (or she) your favorite? In case your wondering, my favorite Makuta is Krika. Not only is he the only Makuta I can think of that disliked Teridax's plan, besides the ones that refused Teridax, but he looks cool. He tried to save the Universe in two ways (though one is somewhat involuntary)1. He imprisoned Miserix instead of killing him. It's partly because of Spiriah that Miserix is still alive.2. He tried to persuade Gali to leave Karda Nui so Teridax's reign could not begin. I also admire him for not killing a Toa for once. 3. He tried to infiltrate the Codrex, and risked his life in the process. Kudos to him, by the way.Okay, so that was three things. Whatever. I typed without thinking. So, in conclusion, post about your favorite Makuta and why he (or she) is your favorite. Note: this may seem a lot like the Villains of Bionicle topic, but this one is Makuta exclusive.
  6. Hello and welcome all to Glatorian Chronicles #12, which is the twelfth and final installment of the Glatorian Chronicles series! But first, let me tell new readers exactly what the GC is: This GC is, as I said before, the final installment. After this, there will be no more GC stories, even though there are other Glatorian characters in the BIONICLE universe. I only wanted to do the twelve characters released as canister sets, which with the posting of this last GC I have finally succeeded in doing. This GC, FYI, stars Mata Nui and thus is written from his point of view. Hope you enjoy it:Glatorian Chronicles #12: The Future Begins Where the Past EndsI walked through a swamp, keeping a careful eye open for a certain someone. I smelled the boggy water, heard the sounds of Rahi swimming beneath the water or flying above the treetops, felt the mud clinging to the underside of my feet, and tasted the humidity in the air. I saw the fallen stalactites scattered around the area, towering above me like the Black Spike Mountains. It was all so real that I almost forgot that it wasn’t.All these things that I smelled, heard, felt, tasted, and saw were the memories of a mask, a mask that had once walked among the living yet was not one of them. I had never physically been in Karda Nui before, but from the information I had gathered, this was how it looked just prior to my awakening. Or, I should say, prior to the awakening of Makuta Teridax in my body.As I walked across the mud islets in the swamp, I mulled over what had happened only a few hours ago. I had used a prototype of my original robot body to fight Makuta Teridax for the fate of my people and the Spherus Magnans. Thanks to the actions of Toa Tahu, I had managed to slay Teridax once and for all, saving the inhabitants of both Spherus Magna and my own universe while restoring the planet to its original state. After that, I had returned to the Mask of Life, for I had one last loose end to tie up: Toa Ignika, the spirit of the Mask of Life.Ever since Teridax forced my spirit into the Mask of Life so many months ago, my soul had dominated Ignika’s. Ignika’s soul had been dominant only once since I controlled of the mask and that when giving Toa Tahu the golden armor. Now I needed to talk with Ignika.I had never mentioned this before, but for a while now I had felt Ignika’s spirit growing stronger within the mask. At first, Ignika didn’t seem to care that I was in control, but recently it has been harder for me to remain in control of the mask. I had concluded that Ignika was trying to become the dominant soul again, although I didn’t know why. That was another reason I had rejected the offer to become leader of the new Spherus Magna. So long as Ignika was trying to reassert his control over the mask, it would be like having a ruler with a split personality: dangerous and unpredictable, maybe even worse than Teridax. As I favored peace and not conflict, I decided to figure out just what Ignika was so unhappy about. The only problem was finding Ignika. While it was true that we both shared the same vessel, our minds were not one. Therefore it was possible for Ignika to hide himself from me, as he appeared to be doing now, but I knew that I would find him eventually. He couldn’t hide forever.Just then, I heard the fluttering and buzzing of wings above me. Looking up, I saw all eight of the Karda Nui Makuta -- the ones Toa Ignika and the Toa Nuva had fought here -- flying toward me. Their weapons were drawn and they were not coming to say hello.Just as I readied myself for combat, a yellow blur shot past me. Startled, I looked up into the sky to see a single yellow-and-silver-armored Toa on a skyboard fighting all eight Makuta at once. And amazingly, he was winning.Every Makuta the yellow Toa hit with his blade screamed in pain and exploded into dust. The Makuta attempted to put up a fight, but they were clearly outmatched by this unstoppable Toa. Bitil summoned multiple versions of himself from the past, but not a single one survived the Toa’s onslaught. Icarax tried to come up from behind, though the Toa seemed to have seen that coming, for he whirled around and with one swift blow completely disintegrated the Makuta.Soon, where eight powerful Makuta once flew, none remain. Only the yellow Toa still flew, looking down at me with cold green eyes as he sheathed his sword and put away his Midak Skyblaster.“You are a great fighter, Ignika,” I said, clapping my hands. “And for that I applaud you.”“I don’t want your applause,” said Ignika as he lowered from the sky. “I don’t want anything from you, Mata Nui.”“Yes, I’ve noticed your less-than-friendly attitude toward me lately,” I said as Ignika landed. “That is why I have come looking for you. What have I done to wrong you? I cannot think of why you would be so upset at me.”Ignika looked at me coldly, but didn’t answer. Instead, he folded his arms, turned around, and sat down on his skyboard, with not even one word of elaboration for this display of immature behavior.I sighed. Ignika had what the Agori would call a very childish mind. I had seen young Agori villagers act like Ignika during my time on Bara Magna, but I had never had to discipline any of them. That was always their parents’ responsibility. Therefore I was unsure how to handle this situation exactly. So I said, “Ignika, you know I can’t read your mind. Tell me what you are so upset about.”He still didn’t look at me, nor did he say anything. I was starting to think it was easier fighting Makuta Teridax than dealing with a stubborn mask, but I didn’t give up then and I wasn’t giving up now. I needed to get Ignika to talk to me, and I knew the best way how.“Ignika, stop this,” I told him. “Would Matoro act so childishly when he was upset? Wouldn’t he tell his friends the reasons for his anger, rather than keeping it to himself and leaving his friends to guess it?”That seemed to do it, for Ignika looked up at me. His expression was still unkind, however. He was frowning and his eyes were narrowed, although I did not feel apprehensive or fear. Emotions couldn’t hurt someone unless they were acted upon and Ignika was not acting upon his emotions yet.“You’re . . . right,” said Ignika reluctantly. “I just thought it was obvious why I am angry.”“Well, it’s not,” I said. ”We may share the same mask, but that doesn’t mean I can read your thoughts, Ignika. Tell me what is upsetting you.”Ignika stood up and turned to face me. I felt power radiating from his body like heat, but I stood my ground. Ignika wouldn’t intentionally hurt me. That much I knew.“I want to be a Toa again,” Ignika said, pointing at his own body. “And I am angry because you’re not letting me create a new body for myself so I can be a Toa again.”“Ah,” I said. “I didn’t realize you still wanted to be a Toa.”“Of course you didn’t,” said Ignika, not looking me in the eyes. “You were too busy saving the world to care about the wants of a simple mask.”I wanted to argue that that wasn’t true, but I knew that Ignika was right. During my time as the Great Spirit of my body, I had never really paid attention to what happened inside of me. My focus was always on the outside, on the planets I visited and cultures I observed. I rarely thought about what the people I ruled and protected were going through. It appeared that I had done the same thing with Ignika, except on a much smaller scale. So I said, “Ignika, I apologize for not taking your own wants into account. I just did what I thought was for the greater good. I didn’t intend to upset you.”“That’s a joke,” said Ignika with a laugh. “And that’s funny because I’m not good at spotting jokes. The only thing I got to do was give Tahu the golden armor, and that was only because Tren Krom sent me a message that activated the golden armor feature. You were the one fighting Teridax and saving two worlds while I just sat by and basically did nothing.”“As you said, you gave Tahu the golden armor,” I pointed out. “If Tahu had never received the golden armor, I would never have defeated Teridax once and for all. And then we’d all be dead, Ignika, you included.”“I know,” said Ignika, kicking a nearby stone into the muddy water with a splash. “But, unless you have sand in your ears, you’d have noticed that I said that Tren Krom sent a message to me that activated the golden armor feature. It wasn’t a conscious choice on my part.”“Yet it was still a heroic deed nonetheless,” I said.Ignika looked up at me with a scorching glare and said, “Was it, Mata Nui? I’m not so sure. If I was forced to do it, how can it be heroic? Aren’t heroes the people who choose to act when everyone else chooses not to? How can I be heroic if I wasn’t given a choice to act or not to act?”“You have a point,” I admitted. “But giving you a body so you can play hero won’t change that.”Too late did I realize the mistake I made in saying that, for Ignika’s eyes flared and he said, “Play hero? You think I only want to play hero, like . . . like a child?”It was at that moment that a sharp pain resonated through the back of my head. It wasn’t physical pain, for inside the mask I didn’t have a physical body. It was a mental or spiritual pain, the kind only a spirit could inflict upon another spirit. That meant Ignika was attacking me.I cried out as I fell to my knees. The blow felt strong and concentrated, not accidental. Was Ignika trying to harm me? Or was he, in his anger, simply losing control of his powers?Whatever the case, I knew I had to calm him down somehow before he went too far.So I looked up at Ignika, whose arms were still folded and whose eyes were still cold.“I want my body back,” Ignika said, his green eyes more feral than rational. “You know, the only reason I let you control the mask in the first place was because I thought you’d let me have my body back once you completed your mission. But if you won’t willingly give control of the mask back to me, then maybe I’ll just take it back by force.”Another stab of pain in my head, but I kept my eyes locked on Ignika. I showed no weakness to him, because I now knew that he was intentionally trying to subdue me. And, with horror, I realized he would probably succeed, for up until now he had merely allowed me control of the mask. In a sheer contest of wills, I knew he’d crush me unless I could reason with him.“Ignika,” I said, struggling to raise my hand. “Don’t do this. Toa don’t force others to give them the things they want. It’s not heroic.”“Well, Mata Nui, you yourself said that I was just playing hero,” Ignika replied. “So, I can do whatever I want, since I’m not a ‘real’ Toa.”The next attack was so fierce, so powerful, that I nearly blacked out. I hit the mud and slowly started sinking in. I couldn’t even move my limbs I was so weak. His will was crushing mine, as easily as a giant crushes an ant.I couldn’t allow Ignika to become the dominant spirit or recreate his body, however. Repeating the Great Beings’ mistakes was something I had vowed to prevent at all costs. To keep history from repeating itself, the Mask of Life needed to be out of the picture, at least temporarily. And so I needed to defeat Ignika somehow, prevent him from regaining control of the mask before it was too late.At first, I feared that I would not be able to dominant Ignika’s fierce, overwhelming will. Yet, as I sank deeper into the mud, I realized that Ignika, in order to attack me, must have made a mental connection between us. If he could attack my mind, then maybe I could attack his, as well.I would not, however, attack with anger and frustration, which were Ignika’s choice weapons. Instead, I would hit Ignika with something even worse: my memories.Using all of my mental energy, I found the mental connection between our minds. This move seemed to surprise Ignika, for the pressure he was putting on me lifted slightly, but it was just enough to give me an opening. Calling upon my memories, I projected them into his mind, allowing him to see the things I had seen repeated many, many times on my journey across the universe.Whole planets at war with each other, fighting over badly-needed natural resources that they didn’t want to share. Dictators ordering the deaths of millions of innocent people for no reason other than to satisfy their bloodlust. Weapons of mass destruction blowing up whole cities, annihilating thousands of beings in the blink of an eye. Soldiers armed with deadly weapons going from city to city, killing anyone they came across, even -- or especially -- if that person was a civilian. And, finally, I showed him one of my earliest memories, from when I first left Spherus Mana: The Shattering. I showed him the massive explosion that ripped through the planet. Showed him Spherus Magna shattering into three smaller planets as the population plunged into chaos due to the catastrophe and sudden lack of central government. Showed him the corpse of an Agori that was flung from the shattered planet, which drifted by my head even as I departed from Spherus Magna to begin my 100,000 year long journey around the universe. And, without warning, I was back on the surface of the swamp at Ignika’s feet. Ignika’s will no longer pressed down on my own, so I stood back up and looked at Ignika to see how he had reacted to the memories I had shared with him.Ignika looked like he had fallen over in the mud himself, for his yellow and silver armor was streaked with it. His green eyes were no longer cold with apathy, but wide with shock and horror. For a moment, I wondered if I had gone too far. The horrors I had shown him had shaken even me and I had more experience with death and mass destruction than Ignika did. Had I shocked Ignika so badly that he could no longer speak? Had I somehow damaged his mind with the horrors that I had showed him? Then Ignika spoke. “I . . . I had no idea there was such suffering and evil in the universe . . .”I nodded. “It’s hard to believe, but I hope you now understand why I cannot allow you to become Toa Ignika once more.”“I . . . I think I do,” said Ignika, one hand on his heartlight. “But I would never do any of that.”“I know you wouldn’t, but others would,” I said as I wiped some of the mud off my hands. “Even if you did nothing, the Spherus Magnans would divide into groups: those who support you and those who don’t. They would harm each other in their zeal for or against me. Yet it has nothing to do with you, Ignika, and everything to do with me.”Ignika looked at me in confusion. “What do you mean?”“I’m an important figure to both the native Spherus Magnans and to the inhabitants of my former body,” I said. “They want me to rule them, but I know that would be foolish. It’d be best for them to learn to rule themselves, rather than relying on another powerful yet fallible being to make all of the hard decisions for them. And besides, not all of them want me as their leader. Many, I am sure, want nothing more than to see me dead.”“I see,” said Ignika, realization slowly dawning in his eyes. “I think I understand what you mean. You don’t want either of us to become dictators or somehow disrupt the new society, is that it?”“Exactly,” I said, nodding. “Under different circumstances, I would let you become Toa Ignika again. As it is, though, too many people still associate the Mask of Life with me and will associate it with me for many years to come. I don’t want people to take advantage of you in order to get to me.”Ignika nodded unhappily. “You’re right. Maybe it would be too dangerous for me to make a new body. I guess that it’s for the greater good that I remain a mask forever.”Sighing, Ignika turned away, probably to leave, but I had to say one last thing to him. He sounded so sad, which made me feel sorry for him. I didn’t want to crush his spirits, yet at the same time I didn’t want to install false hope in him, either. I would give him something to look forward to. Something that would make the inevitable years of waiting that awaited us bearable.“Hey, Ignika,” I said, putting one hand on his shoulder.Ignika looked at me, frowning. “Yes, Mata Nui? What is it?”“I just wanted to tell you that it won’t be this way forever,” I said. “Someday, we’ll return and live among the Spherus Magnans. Maybe if a new threat emerges, Toa Ignika can live once more.”“And what if Spherus Magna is never threatened by a new evil?” asked Ignika. “Do I remain a mere mask forever?”“No,” I said as I shook my head. “If the day comes when the Spherus Magnans no longer look upon me or the Mask of Life with the reverence with which they do currently, then we can return and live among them like normal people. You could even be a Toa again if you wanted to.”Ignika smiled, the first time I had ever seen him do it. “Thank you, Mata Nui. You are a kind being.”I took my hand off of his shoulder and said, “You’re welcome, Ignika. In the meantime, I think we’ll both have to be patient, because it’ll probably be a while before we can return to the physical world.”Ignika shrugged. “Before I became a Toa the first time, all I ever did was wait for someone to come and use me to heal you. I think you’re the one who is going to have to learn patience, Mata Nui.”It took me a moment to realize, but that was the first time I had ever heard Ignika joke. Before I could comment on it, Ignika started his skyboard and flew away. I stood in the swamp and watched him go, wondering what the future had in store, not only for us, but for Spherus Magna as a whole as well.I was also making plans, arrangements for where the Mask of Life would be placed until its proper time. Right now it was in the hands of Toa Tahu, but I knew a better place where it could stay until the time came for Ignika and I to return. It was a dangerous place, one that most beings could not get to, but it was, in my opinion, the best place to hide the mask. I just needed to communicate to Tahu to contact the Order of Mata Nui and then, like Ignika, I would wait.THE END of the Glatorian Chronicles. To be continued in “Dawn of the New Century.” Coming to the Epics forum late 2012/early 2013. And so the Glatorian Chronicles is finally, truly finished. It was a fun project, one I honestly didn't think I'd ever actually finish, but here I am, posting the very last story in the series, which just feels great. I should celebrate.Comments, criticism, questions, etc. are all welcomed and encouraged .-TNTOS-Edit: Made a few changes in response to Yukiko's review below.
  7. As you can see in that pic (Linked here, in case it's too big and has to be removed), Ekimu clearly has a big yellow gear on his back a la the Toa. And, since Ekimu and Makuta are specifically said to be brothers, we can assume Makuta has one as well. Thoughts? Perhaps the Mask Makers were former Toa. Or maybe they're a special breed of Okotoan. Or perhaps they're literal Gods and this helps differentiate them from normal villagers. Or perhaps it's just there because the set version of Ekimu will have a gear function. Who knows? Post your thoughts/theories ITT.
  8. Here is my question. Everyone here now knows Bionicle is back, and everyone knows Makuta is back. Now here's the reason for this topic. Imagine Makuta because his own set, as the main bad guy. What would be your favorite way for Makuta to be like? How big would he be? what would be his color scheme? How much would he cost? What would his weapons be? and lastly, what would his mask be, if you don't like the ones shown? If I missed anything, add it. I want a really large Makuta. like a few inches taller than Tahu. I am hoping for black and red color scheme. I'm thinking 30$ to 40$. I am hoping for something like a scythe or a jagged sword. I lastly think the Mask shown is okay.
  9. Look. I know you are all going to mash away at your keyboards talking about Makuta, but I don't want him to be the front and centre villain just yet. This would probably build up the hype for his inevitable set, and that's another thing this new line should do. Establish a good rogues gallery. I really don't want to see our heroes fight Makuta each year, I want something fresh! I want to see a threat that strips them to their bare essence, a threat that tests their will and strength, a threat that is formidable enough to stand in their way. Sure, Makuta can do this all simultaneously, but I want to see something new. I personally think that the new threat should be villains (swarms or separate characters, you choose) that also have elemental powers. This would challenge the Toa not to just rely on themselves and their powers, but each other and the world around them. This was effective when the original Toa had to hold off the Bohrok swarms. One example of this was when Kopaka, Pohatu and Gali had to work together to eliminate a swarm of Tahnok. They accomplished this by flooding a large hole full of the creatures. This is the kind of challenge I want to see, but of course, don't make it a discount Bohrok storyline.
  10. Has anyone checked the LEGO Shop homepage? If you give a click on the Mask of Life image, it brings you to a page with a bunch of links to BIONICLE pages- with a unique description of the BIONICLE Story: Summoned by the Islanders of Okoto, the Toa have fallen from the sky to fight an ancient evil! Their masks make them the masters of the six elements, but legend tells of the powerful GOLDEN MASKS, which were scattered over the Island and now lie hidden. Now they must work with the Protectors to find each one and stop Makuta the Mask Hoarder recovering the MASK OF CREATION. In addition to the absorbing world and compelling story, the buildable action figures feature a simple and familiar snap-building system. Each model can be reassembled effortlessly after rugged play and combines easily with other sets to create new and ever more powerful heroes! The really unique part I guess would be this new title Makuta has. Is this going to be his title? The "Mask Hoarder". Because it's capitalized, I think it very well could be. Thoughts on this?
  11. Wow, I haven't posted any art here for a while, though I'm always drawing. I guess I haven't drawn anything that I'd consider worthy to post here. That is, until now. For those of you unfamiliar with it, Corpus Rahkshi is an RPG run over in the RPG forum by I Am Ultron Six. In it, Kraata are suddenly becoming more intelligent and gaining personalities, much to the surprise of the Brotherhood. They placed all the new Rahkshi in what equates to a high school off the coast of Nynrah under the charge of Makuta Tridax, just to watch what happens. There's assignments ("assassinating" another student and ruining Christmas so far), factions (such as "Phogen's Heroes," the most prominent), and lots of fun to be had. This is one of my characters, Hoto, a blind Rahkshi of Dodge who uses a sort of echolocation and her powers to get around. She's always energetic and fun-loving, never letting her disability get in her way, though she can be emotional under stress. This art piece was also one of my first attempts at realistic shading without linework. It probably took me somewhere around 12-15 hours to complete in little intervals, but it was definitely worth it. It turned out a bit small, but hopefully large enough to see the details. I would love some criticism from those of you more familiar with shading so I can improve for future drawings. More commissions (don't expect anything as great as Hoto) Fang and Tube (mine) Abyssium (avmatoran) Kat (The UltimoScorp) Omega (VahkiDane) If you want to see what else I've been doing all this time, you can take a look around my Deviantart gallery. As always, comment, critique, and most of all, enjoy!
  12. So, some of you might be slamming away at your keyboard talking about Teridax, but this poll list is talking about those other antagonists. Y'know, like the Bahrag and the Piraka. Take your vote on this list of the best Bionicle villains that weren't Makuta Teridax.
  13. Hello again, readers! Now be mindful that these opinions I will put forth are suggestions. The new Bionicle sets haven't even hit the shelves yet (at least in Australia), and we only have a synopsis of what will happen in 2015's line. In keeping with my belief that this theme should distinct itself more from it's predecessor, I will suggest some new ways to integrate it into the story, but I will still deviate from that a bit with these following suggestions: Add more elements. No matter when you joined the Bionicle crowd, you would always see a collection of six, distinctly coloured and powered heroes/villains dominate both the attention and the shelves. Fire, Water, Air/Jungle, Earth/Rock, Stone/Sand and Ice would be the elements and colours of whatever six-team we saw in any one wave. It is quite clear that this the first 2015 wave is following suit, keeping with the tradition. Personally, I believe we should change the elements up a bit. In the Generation 1 Bionicle story, we have several different elements besides the original six, and those other elements are plentiful. We have: Magnetism, Gravity, Sonics, Psonics, Plasma, Acid, Lightning, Sand, Rock, Plantlife, Light, Shadow, and Iron. I say we introduce another six of these elements into the new story, but further along the way, of course, very much like the Bohrok-Kal. It would be a very nice way to break the mold (with the protagonists), and it also builds upon the expanse of powers in this new universe. Bring back our favourite bio-mechanical animals. So far, the only animals we have seen are the Skull Spiders. That's a good start, hearkening back to the Toa battling Rahi controlled by Teridax, in that this year's heroes oppose creatures. But I feel that just these spiders aren't good enough. I really don't know if the Generation 2 storyline wants an emphasis on nature and creatures, but since Okoto is basically Mata Nui (the island) with a whole bunch more rocks and an ancient city, the story might as well bring back the Rahi. Now I'm not saying that the creatures should be called the Rahi again, as I'm quite open to another name, but the animals should stay. The original island of Mata Nui had a very vast and interesting environment, and this wasn't just demonstrated through mountains and lakes. The Rahi gave the island a lot of character, and whether the jungle was full of friendly Gukko birds or hostile Nui-Jaga helped set the tone. It seems that the island of Okoto wants to seem dangerous, particularly with the menacing Skull Spiders, and if so, then populate the waters, plains and mountains with sharks, bulls and bears respectively. Not only that, but it widens the focus of the Generation 2 world, and expands in the same way that new elements do. Also, we can possibly get another Rahi building competition! Yay! Bring in the Brotherhood. You know what one of my favourite things about Gen 1 was? The Brotherhood of Makuta. They were a collection of antagonists made of a green liquid who specialise in Rahi, weapon and virus creation. Sweet. In Gen 2, however, I am trying to stick to my main rule for this generation, but still keeping the appeal alive. I say that in this story, there are several fields of expertise in this universe, and maskmaking is one of them. Like the new Makuta, each of these masters become corrupt for... whatever reason, and plague the inhabitants of Okoto or whatever new location with their creations. These skills, each with their own, made-up names, should be the following: Rahi Creation, Weaponsmithing, and Energy Crafting. I think that these skills will add some variety to the threats our heroes will have to face, hopefully toning down the dominant use of shadow. With these also come a lot of potential for new enemies, and, yet again, expanding the lore of this new story to become as awesome as Gen 1 was. So, that concludes my surprisingly popular topic. Am I fanboying too much about the return of these Gen 1 story aspects, or are these inspired? Let me know!
  14. I was looking over the list of various Kraata powers that a Makuta has, and I noticed that they possess all the powers of the Bohrok-Kal. Now I'm sure that they don't have as much control over that power as the Kal did, but the fact of the matter is still there. The question is, was there a connection between the Antidermis that the Makuta are made of and the Kal substance that the Bahrag used, and that by creating the Kal they tapped into the powers of the Makuta and gave them to the respective Bohrok? or did the story writers just run out of powers for the Makuta, and decided "hey, we haven't used these powers in awhile, lets reuse them and let Makuta (and through extension Rahkshi) have the ability to have these powers too."? Or could there be a third reason? I'm open for ideas and opinions, I have no opinion of my own on this subject.
  15. I've been a long-time fan of bionicle, but the character design that really stood out for me was Krika. Here's my take on the character. *portrait incoming* Fullsize link: http://www.majhost.com/gallery/morkney/Newerart/bion.png I recoloured him a little, added a tail and switched his launcher for a hand (I mean, he's got to have a hand somewhere, so that he can interact with the environment...?). I kept the swampy environment and such. Image was produced in GIMP using a standard mouse. Anyway I'd love to hear your thoughts, and thanks for viewing!

  17. This is a Turaga of Darkness I made a while back.
  18. My first entry for the Battle for the Golden Mask contest.
  19. If you are looking at this post, then you have most likely seen and read my Tale of the Southern Toa epic series. First of all, thanks for checking me out! And second, I created this section as a discussion page so the actual story doesn't get so cluttered with comments. Feel free to give feedback and constructive criticism about the story. Regards, Turaga Coliak
  20. Finally managed to shoot this guy... Anyway, here is my entry for the BFTGM: http://i.imgur.com/y3uqa6D.jpg This is Makuta Luroka. His body towers at 14 bio (63 feet), but he reduces his size on occasion. His armor weighs 983,911 lbs and is of a very high temper. He wears the Kanohi Mataxa, the great mask of entropy. It grants him the power to control the distribution of heat in a given area by raising or lowering entropy. He wields the Onui-Onoi sword (Black-Body sword), a magic black protosteel sword whose blade absorbs light. This sword is also given such a temper as to render it the hardest object in the universe. In addition, he wields the powers typical of a makuta, but has developed an unmatched mastery over magnetism, using it to further augment his incredible strength. Complimentary to his vast power is his incredible mind. As a Brotherhood scientist, Luroka had no equal, and even Teridax's schemes pale in comparison to Luroka's brilliance. All in all, he is a being of incredible power, and an unstoppable force when he sets his sights on something. Full gallery here: http://imgur.com/a/7mPop C&C is always appreciated!
  21. So, I had a theory while watching Black 6's most recent unboxing video, specifically, while he was examining the Lord of Skull Spider's box. The gold Skull Spider mask, which we do not yet know the significance of... could this be the Mask of Ultimate Power? 1) we never saw what it looked like in the animations, as it was shrouded by evil black energy. 2) The skull spiders latch onto the faces of Protectors and Masters, alike, but why? To control them? Where have I heard of mind-controlling masks before...? 3) The mask was forged by none other than Makuta. If he bears any similarities to his predecessor other than name, could that mean that he has a penchant for controlling slaves via masks? It'd be the perfect combination of kraata and Infected Kanohi (instead of seeking out masks to infect, the creatures themselves seek out targets to control, like the HF brains.) So, basically, Skull spider=Infected Kanohi, Mask of Ultimate Power is Makuta's way of controlling the newfound slaves. Sound plausible? Thoughts? Theories? Theatrics? (Also, if this idea has already popped up elsewhere, feel free to close this. Just thought I'd give my three cents. )
  22. QUOTE TAGS, I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU DON'T WORK, BUT PLEASE WORK After I posted this blog entry, I found myself frequently thinking about Makuta's role in Mask of Light. So here's another entry compiling my thoughts. A lot of what Makuta says in Mask of Light gets obfuscated by his demeanor. He has a deep, rumbling voice, an oily, patched-together appearance, and he hangs out in a cave filled with thick green smoke and pillars holding creatures in stasis. On top of it all, he is very clearly the designated villain in what is a kiddy, direct-to-video film made to sell toys. Literally everything sets our expectations to "he is a bad guy," and we don't question it. But look beyond this external layer, and we find something rather different through a few curious hints. It begins in Makuta's first appearance. Before he releases the Rahkshi, he contemplates, I'm not sure how to frame this in any way other than as remorse at the idea of what he is about to do. So what convinces him? It comes back to Mata Nui. Makuta will do whatever it takes to ensure his brother remains asleep. This isn't a ruthless, power-hungry maniac bent on world domination - if that were the case, he would have no qualms with unleashing the Rahkshi. So the Rahkshi set out and start to terrorize the island, and Makuta sits back and observes. But something goes wrong - Kopaka manages to freeze the beasts within a lake, incapacitating them. Makuta can no longer rely on the fact that his sons will halt the coming of the seventh Toa, so he goes to plan B. Even though Takua himself doesn't know it yet, Makuta knows that the Matoran is right smack in the center of this matter. So he makes him an offer: If you stand down, give me the Avohkii so that Mata Nui can never be awakened, I will leave you alone. Your friends, the entire island, will be free from my grasp. Takua, like us viewers, don't think twice about calling Mukau droppings on him. Yeah, right. If you give the McGuffin to the bad guy, he'll let you off scotch free. That's likely. But what happens after Takua departs, when Makuta is left to himself, with noone listening? What does he say? Unless Makuta is in the habit of lying through his teeth to himself for no reason, his offer was absolutely genuine. With his last resort, the Rahkshi, evidently unable to stand up to the Toa Nuva, his hand was forced and he tried the next best thing to victory: ensuring that his brother could, at least, remain asleep and be spared the pain of conciousness. But Takua has none of it, so he does the next best thing: more Rahkshi. So by now, you may be asking: why? Why are all of these hints dropped in Mask of Light, of all places? What about the myriad of other story media leading up to it, why isn't it hinted at in any of it, too? For the answer, we have to dig a little into the past. If you are a longtime fan, then you might recall the earliest press releases for Mask of Light in 2002. They had familiar elements: two friends on a quest, the fate of the island at stake. But something else was mentioned in these synopses meant to strip the story to its absolute core: the island is crumbling into the ocean. Obviously, this plot element does not survive into the final film. And with good reason, because it ties into another major element of the film that was canned: the awakening of Mata Nui. Throughout the conclusion, wierd things keep happening. Everyone insists that they are descending into the Mangaia to awaken the Great Spirit, only for the matter to be forgotten once they literally do something that is supposed to awaken him. Takanuva instructs for all of the island's inhabitants to be gathered, and later brought underground, but we only get the Turaga (in the novelization, the island's population does in fact show up). This all makes sense only in the context of a film where Mata Nui does awaken; the islanders would need to be safely underground before Mata Nui could stand up and destroy the island. This explains the early island-crumbling plot. In the days before his awakening, Mata Nui is stirring, rocking the island and breaking chunks of it off. Incidentally this explains a scene that does make it to the final film: Jaller and Takua's reuniting. Jaller ends up vulnerable thanks to an earthquake, which you don't really question until you look at is specifically. An earthquake? Natural disasters like that never happen on Mata Nui outside that instance. Its a really weird anomaly in the mythos that seems solely an excuse to have Jaller mistake Takua for an approaching Rahkshi until you consider that it was originally part of a very relevant, ongoing series of quakes on the island. That also explains Jaller's wry response to the event - earthquakes were common. Otherwise, he might have been expected to be more "wow! an earthquake!" like Vakama in the Kikanalo scene in LOMN. So that's why we get all of these hints dropped regarding Makuta's true nature. Originally, Mask of Light was the BIONICLE finale, and the climax was to be the revelation of Makuta's true nature. Eventually, Takanuva is born and travels to the Mangaia. Makuta's last ditch resort is to keep his cool and challenge Takanuva for his mask, as without the Toa of Light Mata Nui cannot be awakened. This, too fails, and we get to that all-important dialogue first highlighted by Lucina: Naturally, Takanuva reacts with shock, confusion and denial. And then Makuta responds with what seems like a really strange non-sequiter. But despite how little sense it makes, it has a powerful effect on Takanuva. Suddenly, he is confident. He knows what to do. {quote]Then let's take a closer look... behind that mask! I feel like the implication here is that Makuta's badness is somehow tied to his mask (the 'real' him is 'behind' it). Takutanuva isn't, in reality, all that important in the final movie. He lifts the gate for everyone. But if, say, Makuta had been incapacitated, it seems entirely within reason that the Toa Nuva could've opened it themselves somehow. But in our supposed original version of the film, Takutanuva is all-important. He is the merged conciousness of Takanuva and Makuta. Suddenly, both understand each other, and they know what must be done to set things right. Cue the awakening of Mata Nui. Fin. So there you have it. What Mask of Light could have been.
  23. Hey everybody! I'm wondering, who are your top two favorite Toa of 2015? My two favorites are -Tahu -Pohatu Post what are your favorite two! KopakaFan116
  24. Dys is one of the odder Makuta. She possesses a great affinity for plants, having studied them for most of her life. Her current appearance is the culmination of a desire to create a plant-Rahi hybrid, possessing the best features of both. As an experiment to test the viability of such a creature, she transformed herself into a plant entity herself. The results were inconclusive-the Makuta species transformed into their current state right after she changed-but she likes her new appearance, so she remained as she was. Perhaps the oddest thing about her is that, despite being an evil-aligned being obsessed with plants, she doesn't have a vendetta against other sentient beings for perceived crimes against nature. No, Dys believes that nature is far more resilient and everlasting to warrant any attempts to defend it; If some disaster ever strikes an ecosystem, that ecosystem will rebuild in a century or so anyway, and the damage will be erased. The problem is that Dys likes to accelerate the healing process by using specialized viruses and her own Plant Control powers. Not only does she overdo it and create massive impassable jungles, she'll often attempt to create forests in barren or industrialized locales. Catastrophe usually ensues. Dys has replaced her original Kanohi with a Great Mask of Photosynthesis as part of her transformation. The mask allows the user to absorb energy from light, revitalizing them and replenishing Elemental Energy quicker. The mask can only absorb a little energy at a time; as a result, the user needs to spend a lot of time outside or else surrounded by light sources in order to fully replenish themselves. The mask can't protect the user from Light-based attacks, since they produce too much light energy at once for the mask to absorb.
