  1. Dear friends, The past year has been really bumpy for me in a lot of ways. I’ve grappled with emotional dependency, depression, anxiety, and more. One good thing that has come about over the past year, albeit with some challenges of its own along the way, is thinking critically about my gender identity, which has led to some big realizations. For a long time I have related really well to my female peers and have felt deeply invested in their personal struggles. Many of the fictional characters I was most inspired by as well as characters I was most interested in creating in my own art also tended to be girls and women. Meanwhile my feelings about my own more masculine traits have ranged from apathy to frustration — the closest I could generally come to pride in my appearance was a vague, dubious sense that other people might like or respect me more as an adult if my appearance and presentation were sufficiently “manly”. I was never quite satisfied with the way I presented myself in selfies and self-portraits and for the longest time I couldn’t figure out why. As a teenager, I would frequently try and visualize what it would be like to be a girl, sometimes in my head, sometimes with the aid of drawings or with software like the Yahoo Messenger avatar creator, and sometimes just by assuming feminine poses in the mirror when I was certain of my privacy. I didn’t really think too deeply about my motivations, though. Wasn’t all this curiosity just a quirky, introverted teenage way of coming to terms with my attraction to the female body? Come to find out, probably not! In early March I finally opened up to myself about the possibility (or rather, near certainty) that I might be transgender. By this point I had a lot of transgender friends in the LEGO community, and their experiences spoke to me on a personal level. I’d also had over a decade to move beyond the narrow-minded thinking that my after-school Catholic youth group lessons had tried to instill in me. And as soon as I started thinking about my feelings and experiences in the context of being a transgender girl, all these disconnected bits and pieces suddenly made complete sense within my life’s overarching narrative. It’s been extremely liberating to be honest with myself and with some of the people closest to me, whose support and encouragement has been invaluable. From here on out, you can call me Skye. I’m 27 years old and only just beginning the journey of loving myself for the sensitive, bright, and beautiful woman I am. I ask you to please be supportive of me as I engage with this process of self-reflection and discovery. It’ll be intimidating for me sometimes — even with as much social progress as there’s been as of late, the world is still a scary place for a woman. It’s also going to be a lengthy learning experience. It’s one thing to hear about how confusing things like women’s clothing sizes or prices can be; it’s another thing entirely to have to make sense of that confusion! But with all these big steps comes a long-overdue sense of pride and confidence in who I am, not just what I can do. I hope I can make all of you proud as well! With love, Skye

    Confidence

If there's one thing I've always lacked, it's confidence. That's not a bad thing despite what some will say. Yet apparently, lack of confidence is a problem. When someone is confident and does good, it's 'determination'. When someone is confident and does bad, it's 'arrogance'. I'd much rather doubt myself than be arrogant any day. Confidence is just as much as a flaw as a lack of it is, it's not some ridiculous black and white 'NO CONFIDENCE BAD, CONFIDENCE GOOD' stuff. World's more complicated than that. Confidence isn't even a thing that comes to some people regardless, so to tell them to be 'confident' when they might not even be capable of it shows a lack of thought on one's part. It's okay to be scared and afraid and by the 'be confident' logic we'd probably all be dead by now by throwing ourselves at deadly things from arrogance.
  3. On Thursday, May 28, 2015 my dog of fifteen years was hit by a cable truck and passed away in my care. Earlier that morning, I was off work. It's been raining a lot lately and so business has been slow in the local food industry. Memorial Day, being a national holiday in America, has also sent work schedules off for people who work 9-5 jobs. Memorial Day was the first holiday I have had off work in around two years because the nature of my work demands that I work holidays. And I knew what I was getting into there. Days off work are a luxury to me around national holidays, and so Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day (my birthday, oddly enough), and basically every other day I work have started feeling more like... well, any regular day. Just busier. So, after that whole scare with my anxiety meds, I needed to start taking it easy. So I've been gardening and whistling and spending time with my pets. I've been picking up litter in the yard; weeding; helping the ants outside so they wouldn't feel the need to come into the house... you know, just small things that helped me deal with stress. Our trash pick-up service has been on a weird schedule lately. Sometimes they come in the morning, sometimes they come in the afternoon. They pick up the trash on Wednesdays, but the holiday pushed everything back a day. I woke up that morning early, probably around seven on my own. My cats were antsy, and they tried bolting out the door. One of them succeeded. We have lost cats to the road before when I was a kid. These two are now indoor cats. He made it down to the parked car off the porch until I managed to slowly creep up to him, lightly snapping my fingers and looking him in the eyes; and then I managed to snatch him up and bring him inside. I put a jester collar on one for trying to leave the house, and a pet harness on the other to try and tell him that if he wanted to go outside, he would need to learn how to walk properly in that bewitching contraption. I put a leash on him and tried walking him up and down the stairs. Now, Jewel, being the jealous doggie she always had been, was feeling neglected. So, I decided to walk outside with her and do some gardening. We have an invisible fence and she had been trained not to wander off. However, she was always hopping that fence by wearing out her collar's battery and then running off. This has happened on walks when her collar has snapped and she ran off into the road. I was trying to get a battery out of an old solar hybrid lantern and I walked up to the road to toss it into the garbage. Jewel must have thought we were going for a walk. I didn't see her until she was flying across the road. She was always quiet when she was getting into trouble. I ran into the road without thinking and pulled her into the grass out front. She was still alive, and opening up... She never moaned or whined... She just tried to move her jaw to talk to me... And I just kept my hand on her head and told her it was going to be okay. It wasn't long until she was gone. The guy who hit her stopped and I asked him to call someone. This one woman working for a veterinary hospital nearby stopped with a broken hand and helped me. I gave her Jewel's collar with her tags and she comforted me. The man who hit her helped me get her into a bag. I told her to keep the remains until I had spoken to my family. I said my goodbyes. I decided to plant a memorial garden where she was buried. We picked her up later that day, and I buried her with the shirt I was wearing when it happened. I filled it with an old pair of my shorts, and food from every last meal I shared with her (yogurt, cheese sticks, pizza, etc). I got the idea, I think, from an old Gary Paulsen book I read when I was in middle school. There was this custom hunters had where they would cut off the head of the animal they killed and put the food they ate in the mouth as a sign of respect. Well, I am not cutting off her head, thanks. But, I guess it just makes me feel like I'm keeping her close. She helped me a lot through my first two depressions and all of my anxiety. She was my best friend and my most loyal companion for the past fifteen years. She died acting like she was still a curious little doggie. I owe her fifteen years at the very least. I want to plant some pine out back. She loved exploring and running and staying cool in the shade. I think she would like that. ... The splatter is still on the road in front of my family's house. This has just brought up too many painful memories to deal with all at once. Everyone gets at least one moment in their lives that, no matter how hard they want to forget, they just know it's impossible, and then they finally make their peace with it. This is just one that isn't going to heal for me. I'm... handling this as best I can. I'm not relapsing into depression. I've been talking a lot with friends and my family has been very supportive. I've just been trying really hard lately with everything; getting a new job and going through a frustrating interview process, and then working on my family situation and figuring out my orientation, and trying to be healthy despite being called pretentious for not wanting to die of a heart attack (which is basically what going into culinary arts was based off of initially for me. I've always had weak lungs, and after that it's always one problem after another), and then I had to take care of my dog because everyone in my family is just so busy with work because of the economy and things changing like crazy... I just need a fresh start after all of this. Ultimately I was there for her when she needed me the most. And now I'm just trying to make the most out of an unfortunate situation. And that's it. That's all this is, and that's all I've ever been trying to do on some level. I don't care about marriage, I don't care much for any particular religion, really, and I don't care about people telling me what I should and shouldn't like. I get to decide who I love, not my orientation. I get to decide how to bury my dog, not the government. I get to decide what the most important thing in this world is to me, not any book. And right now I am just... so, so tired and only at age twenty three. Found a four-leaf clover today when I was visiting her out back. My luck is ridiculously stupid. It's annoying. I plucked it by the roots and planted it with my avocado sapling. It's been growing for about a year now. ... I might be gone a while. I need to watch the heck out of some Markiplier videos right now. =\
  4. So, came out to my parents (kinda sorta. Like, I didn't say it straight out, but they kiiinda put the pieces together that I'm queer at the very least). My dad isn't too thrilled, but he understands the science behind it, and he was actually kinda supportive with my mom. Weird. I really don't think I'm in a good place to start dating just yet anyway, so I don't mind it, really. ^^; At any rate, I think volunteer work will do me some good to keep active, but I'm going to keep working on getting a job first. A fresh start sounds refreshing, because having your life flash before your eyes and then be living at home is... Well, it can be a little overwhelming, to say the least. Speaking of volunteer work, I'm donating my hair this month. It is fabulous; a natural curl and a nice dark brown color. I'm going to include a hand-written note if they'll allow it. ^^; Things at my current job are still weird. I'm even more spacey than usual, and things are getting humid and warm (not great for my lungs with all of the pollen). I've been communicating and tossing ideas around, and it seems like people are acting a little less stressed out around me at least. There are a couple of LGBT+ people at work too, so hopefully they take my advice about the job. Everyone in the kitchen staff during my time there has been more on the artistic and open-minded side of things in general, and we've always been pretty close-knit and had each other's backs. Our issues were almost always completely ignored, though. Not exactly the best situation for someone with anxiety. The food industry is such a weird one. XD I have good contacts, though, and, like, every religious person I've spoken to has been surprisingly accepting and willing to listen. Apparently I can be good at this. XD I mean... the situation still isn't great, mind you, but... I mean, if I ever showed up with a guy someday I think the awkward zone would be managable. (Oh geez, I can picture it now... The looks we'd get just holding hands down the street... XD) My pets have been a huge support too. ^^ I think I have a nice nickname for my future kid; Link. Robin Williams was a huge part of my childhood, and he was a fan of the game series Legend of Zelda. Actually, Ocarina of Time was one of the first video games I really got into, and it helped me bond with my best friend from childhood (like, it was all we would talk about. XD). It's kinda the reason why green became my favorite color (It used to be red). Granted while adopting, it would only be an affectionate term. I think it would be a good reminder while my head is jumping from subject to subject as an adult. ^^; So... maybe in around... five to ten years? Who knows?
  5. Spoilers ahead for my alleged "fanfiction" however I wanted to write a story where the toa came to life and started helping people in our world. Where they came out of the story and touched the lives of people in order to do some good. So, to everyone who has been reading my blog and following from the start; congratulations! ^^ So, I have a theory for one of my toa characters; Sida (see-duh). I've always been told I make good characters. Turns out I'm a natural thespian and storyteller. Go figure. XD. The way I make my characters, always, always, always, has been by shedding a part of my personal identity and then trying to put that part of my identity to words. I draw from life what I put on the screen and on the paper. It's just who I am. This has been like, the biggest help in figuring out my identity (turns out I identify as something like Demisexual. It's kinda what I always wanted to be. XD). I've been around people in the medical field my entire life. Turns out I picked up on a bunch of stuff. ^^ So, I wanted to reflect this in Sida. I think I see the most of myself in her right now. This is an exchange between my OC's based on my current life experience. The characters I center this around are Tanu, Miln, and Sida (by far some of my favorite characters yet in my BIONICLE headcanon). This takes place shortly after The Melding, and is a prequel for a collaborative project from The Ambage titled "Volition" Miln - saw the child in myself with her. MaLNutrItion. She has loads of room to grow. Tanu - like TAhU but Not quite (h is taller than n. Tahu is very hot-headed, and while Tanu is a toa of Plasma, he has far greater power and has learned the dangers of it first-hand). Sida - will be explained later. Now, this would tie in nicely, I think, with my earlier fanfiction "Dare to Dream" So, trans-spectrum members in particular; I am asking this time; As a parent-in-training, do you think this sounds like a good idea? Take care, Tekulo (the first name I ever gave to myself. Playing with syllables got me interested in Eastern language. I found out my birth-name, ultimately, is a derivative of "child" in English. Go figure. XD. But it also had a different meaning, and that was the one I was more interested in at the time) It was just so... interesting. So, I guess what I've been trying to say this whole time is... Happy Naming Day, BZPower. ^^)
  6. I've been in a scary place lately. Little PSA here, guys: You never know who is or isn't on anxiety medication and you never know who is going to go super logic-jump crazy. XD So, when you take medication, be sure to get your blood work done, work with your doctors, ask what the risks are, and be sure to eat healthy. I'm doing fine, though, and I kinda came to a big life decision. Eventually, some day... I kinda want to adopt a kid. ^^; So, um. Thanks for listening when I needed it, BZP. I really appreciate it. ^^
  7. So, drama happens a lot here in the blogs, and on this website in general. It happens, not too big a deal to me personally unless the staff feel the need to get involved. And even then, I'm always open to a little chit chat and a few apologies. So, why on the internet of all places do people feel the need to get so upset? Is it because we really are nasty people who hide behind anonymity? Is it because we are constantly at war and hate all semblance of peace out of our nature? No. My intuition is telling me otherwise. Why? Because I am lacking information before I can make a judgement call. What information am I missing over a text-based form of communication? There is more than one way for language to occur. It is a subjective artform like anything, when you get down to it. What are we missing from text? Tone of voice. On BZP a little while back, I believe a member here started a topic informing us about the Myers Briggs personality type quiz. It caught on as a fad in the blogs as I recall. I participated as well. I have taken that test multiple times on a few different tests (Three or four times if I can recall). Every answer has been INFJ. Introverted iNtuition Feeling Judging. Now this is strange. The definition of INFJ is defined as a "protector" So, why have I felt the need to lash out at people on this website? Tone. A lack of one. From my understanding of psychology, the human brain works on intuition. When there is an information gap, the brain works in overdrive to come up with a number of possibilities for an explanation. This is why I do not like to speak over people. It brings out the worst in us. And this is a problem I feel is in the field of psychology; people are speaking over each other. I have heard many stories of therapists that spoke over their patients saying "You have this disorder" or "You have that because that's what it says in the books." or worse "because I'm the doctor, now let me do my job.". These stories from friends have always ended with them being offended and thinking the field of psychology is simply too corrupted to be worth it. This is a problem. By failing to provide proper information to patients, psychologists are making their therapy patients doubt and fear. That sounds counter-intuitive to me, personally. That is my personal issue with the field. From my studies in school, there were psychologists working to fix this in history. Look up Wilhelm Wundt. I believe he was credited with introducing the revolutionary idea of self-analysis to the field. It was ignored at first, but then another psychologist researched his methods and the problem has been minimized over time. To me, this is how progress happens. Proper communication of issues. If you don't trust me as a source, please feel free to research my claims. I will respect you for it tenfold. Bonus points for providing me with the main article. So, being an introvert, I noticed a few quirks in debates that set me off. There is nothing more annoying than someone expecting to agree with your opinion by ending it as a question, yeah? Sometimes those well-meaning smiley eyes can come off as a bit smug or pretentious. The happy smiley faces don't do much either for me. So, why do I feel set off by these? I was bullied as a kid. I grew up feeling opressed. I always avoided eye contact (still have trouble with that), I preoccupied myself with noticing other things (their clothing, their mannerisms, their hair, etc). When I was a child I had two dogs. Every night I would blow them a kiss each. Today when I see my sole surviving dog, I feel the need to give her two quick pecks. When I see a dog in general, this habbit comes up. This is learned behavior that I taught myself, in my opinion. So, how do we fix this? ^^; Is there a way to make sentences come off a bit less aggressive? >.< I personally think so. 8D With smiley faces that show more than just the eyes, I feel we can pick up more with our intuition. ^^" Just the eyes can seem cold to me. >.> I always avoided a piercing gaze growing up, and I hated feeling spoken over, yeah? This can give text tone. I think they're cute. ;-; So, please, let's stop complaining about the smiley faces everywhere, alright? I think these guys are important. ^^; I will be sure to include them in future entries. To me, when I see a gay an LGBT+ person or a minority upset with me, my mind does this annoying thing where I wonder if they hate me for who I am, or think they think I hate them. >.< To me that's a problem. =\ I am a minority, I shouldn't feel that way about others. I am a human being, I shouldn't feel offended over an objective label. >.< It's just some me-work I need to improve on. ^^; And it's okay. It's not the worst thing in the world. ^^; It just means we should be a little more thoughtful is all. :D
  8. Personally I like the aspect of a hardened character feeling cheated out of a normal life. I could relate to that on the level of my personal orientation and how it's viewed. Arguably being gay for me is linked to a personal loss in a way. (I am not saying it is this way for every gay person ever, every situation is different, and yes, there are LGBT+ people out there who could have always been comfortable with their orientation and I do not mean to imply otherwise. Tl;dr, please agree to disagree with me on this, I'm trying to speak for myself here, not to speak over anyone else. Sorry if this is annoying, but we're talking about representation here, and arguably I'm not the easiest person to read, and this is a text-based communication which is more or less proven to make people read too much into things, so here we are). Basically, for me, being aware of my orientation and choosing to remain closeted at a young age has put a damper on literally every personal relationship I have ever formed. I'm still not out to my parents, and I love my family (despite me being angsty). I'm more or less convinced at this point that coming out to them would change things. There are loads of people telling people like me stuff like "haters gonna hate" and "don't let them get to you" but when someone problematic is that close to me, honestly, it makes things challenging. And when I don't know how someone will react to my orientation, then this really horrible thing happens: I doubt. My brain goes into overdrive and I think of every potentially horrible thing they could do to hurt me. I will say this again, I love my family. But the truth is, if I told them right now, things would be bad for both them and me, to put it lightly. It gets to the point where I feel the need to map out a battle plan to tell them about a part of my identity. I need to use tact and keep my wits about me just to communicate a part of my identity to my family. And honestly? It's stressful. I find myself wishing my situation could resemble that of a majority; an orientation that was considered normalized. If I were the norm, though (heterosexual) then that would be the equivalent to sacrficing a part of my integrity and personal identity. That isn't an option for me. I'm having such a hard time dealing with all of this that honestly, I don't want to tell my parents to spare them from everything I am dealing with. And there is more to it than just that, there are also selfish reasons, but I'll digress. So, if that was the idea they were going with; a character that put up a stiff upper lip but also longed for a life that was socially considered "normal" then it's true that I could probably relate to that character on some level. The issue with that is, what character representation do I consider I have as a gay man with this in mind? There's Danny Phantom. He kept a secret from his parents who were prejudiced against a part of his identity. I can relate to him to a point on some level. The moment where Jazz told Danny that she was there for him, and that even if he thought she wouldn't understand, he could tell her anything. Take notes people; you never know who is closeted and who needs support (and I need to follow that advice because honestly I kinda suck at this myself). Though, he was shipped with Wes. He was also half ghost and could turn intangible and fly. There's Aang; a protagonist who suffered a personal loss and initially kept his identity as the Avatar a secret. He did it because the airbending kids treated him differently after they knew he was the Avatar. He also valued pacifistic means even when he faced the Big Bad. Respect. Though, he was shipped with Katara. Also he grew up as a monk unlike me, and he was a master airbender by age twelve, was frozen for one hundred years and was besties with a giant two ton floating bison. There's Lewa. He goofed up and messed up time after time. But he also learned and his experience has saved the toa and helped them to better understand their enemies. But he's a biomechanical robot with air powers that can't decide on which dialect to use. There's Korra; a character who struggled and worked through a lot of personal issues (something I'm in the process of doing to seek help). Her orientation has also been confirmed to fit in the LGBT+ spectrum, which I personally find awesome. She also did master all four elements and has a light spirit living inside of her. There's Mulan. She struggles with an inner image and fights for equal treatment and respect. But she's also a war hero that works with a travel-sized-for-her-convenience dragon. There's also Katara who had suffered a personal loss and arguably allowed that loss combined with a betrayed trust to become prejudiced (against Zuko). Katara hated him. You know how Zuko handled it? He asked why and questioned how to fix the problem and did something about it. Even when Aang tried to talk her out of her revenge scheme, he acknowledged that it was a journey that she had to take, but pleaded her to reconsider and forgive the man that took her mother from her. And she never forgave him. But she was still able to move past it and forgave Zuko. And... that's the kind of character I truly admire because I see a lot of myself in that, especially during my life right now. It's like, finally a story was saying it's okay to break down, let it out and then move on. And that it didn't make me any less human to feel like Katara. Though, she is a waterbender and she did get kinda murderous. There's Modern Family with Mitchel and Cameron. Mitchel has a few scenes with his personal relationship with his father, a less than progressive man. There are a few scenes that are way feelsy to me on that level. The fact that Mitchel and his father can coexist even while being on opposed sides is... it's not fantastic, arguably, seeing that my own situation could lead to (and likely will lead to imo) passive aggressive turmoil with my family over something like this, but the fact that there is an area of media that I consume that addresses that issue in a small way is... I don't even have the words for how happy that makes me feel. Cameron also deals with members of his family that are less than tolerant (his grandmother, iirc). But, look at that. I'm a single dude who has never had a relationship and I am also not a father, nor do I plan to have children. These are just the characters that came to mind off the top of my head. I mean, to someone else who doesn't know my situation, this could sound like a whiny complaint. However, only two of these characters are gay men. Am I supposed to be content with the fact that only a handful of the characters I like share my orientation? There's also a flip side to this: A lot of villain characters tend to have tragic backstories where life was unfair and they tried to change things (Like Kuvira. It's also why I personally love how Korra said she saw a lot of herself in Kuvira, and yet Korra considers everyone's best interests when trying to help change the world, unlike Kuvira). I could go on about this, but it's probably an entry for another day. I'm rambling way too much with this one as it is. This all can sound very silly, even borderline stupid and nitpicky, but consider this: I am a person who, from a young age, has felt rejected by a number of things. The religion my parents follow arguably has a dogma against people like me. The opinions and preconceived notions my parents have formed by not supporting LGBT+ rights has lead me to doubt them (and it is a religion I feel they want me to follow, so that can make me feel like I'm simply not enough). The opinions from childhood friends who thought gays were something to be feared lead me to doubt them and myself, and so I cut ties. The bullies that picked on me for being overweight had lead to me doubting that I could ever be happy with my body type. The decision I made when I came out to my brothers has lead me to questioning whether or not they will out me to my parents. Coming out on this site has lead me to worry that I will merely be seen as a pedantic, complaining fool. It has also made me worry there will be people who will say I'm only pretending to be gay in order to reap the rewards of a handful of upvotes. I have worried, feared and stressed and felt a need to validate myself to all of these. And now I feel I have to turn around and do the same pedantics for character representation out of a sense of duty. When talking about fictional works, there is an argument that "We're talking about a fictional story where x shoots y from their z. You are looking too far into this. You cannot relate to this situation because you are a and they are b." Heck, I even remember a bunch of backlash when J.K. Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay. Personally I think it's awesome to see a gay character in a popular story. Know who were the ones with the backlash? The people nitpicking like me; what I'm doing right now. This is my life. I see contradiction after contradiction and I feel the only way to move forward is to press on in some way, shape or form. It's exhausting, but if I don't start working on this, then what good am I ever going to be to anyone else? And that's my personal opinion. Not everyone needs to agree with it. But it's mine. I get to decide what I feel, I get to form my own opinions, and that is not an objective stance anyone else gets to decide. And my opinions are going to change with more information I take in. It's a life long process. When talking about representation, I feel the need to use tact whenever I express an opinion on what I do and do not relate with. I already face that in almost every other aspect of my life because of my orientation. But, if I don't automatically fall in love completely with any scrap of representation I'm expected to relate to because of someone else's opinion (You're gay, they're gay, you should be relating, so stop complaining), then I am "whining" and "some people just can't be satisfied" and "oh, that's cute, the peanut gallery is complaining again." A part of me is totally fed up with feeling a need to validate my existence for almost every aspect of my life. But giving up and quitting isn't going to help anyone. Feminism is a movement that is working to fix this. Even if I can't catch a break on some level, it could mean the next kid with a similar situation to mine can be less stressed out over what I am stressing out about. The only way that is going to happen, in my opinion, is with proper communication of the issues. And I guess that's why I'm blogging this entry right now. Am I a feminist? I question that, actually, like I question everything. Still, the more I look into the issues, the more educated I'll become, and the more my opinions will change. It's why I'm looking into LGBT+ literature right now to fill in an educational gap that I should have done the moment I realized my orientation was queer, imo. So, comments on this entry will be allowed. However, I will filter comments on this entry because this is sensitive stuff here. Feel free to disagree and debate in a respectful tone (I actually encourage that), but please do not just get angry that my opinions don't match your own. Feel free to send me personal comments via PM, but just know I have every right to not care that you're upset with me, the same way you have every right to not care that I posted a blog entry.
  9. I honestly never wanted to be gay, and I certainly wasn’t keen on discovering I was nonbinary. I knew there was a stigma and I just wanted to be normal. I could have stayed totally closeted, but that wasn’t really sustainable. I’m out now, but instead of just cashing in on attention, I just want to represent myself properly to other people. I mean, crazy as it sounds, on some level it’s possible I’ve always been a regular human being with the same desires and dreams as anyone. Okay, so maybe I’m different, but honestly what two people are the same? It’s really nothing to glorify or hate. I want more people to recognize and acknowledge that. That’s it.
  10. The return of BIONICLE has rekindled a lot of interest among fans, even among those whose interest had started to wane. However, many of us are older than we were, and I understand there's something of a stigma attached to high school or college age people obsessing over a LEGO toyline. BIONICLE isn't a particularly acceptable or "mainstream" fandom, unlike, say, Doctor Who, or Avatar: The Last Airbender. That leads me to hypothesize that many of its fans conceal their interests during everyday life. Now, anyone on BZPower clearly has at least some interest in BIONICLE. But outside of the Internet, how public are you about being a BIONICLE fan? I'm interested to see how secretive the community is as a whole.

    Summer and Beyond

Daaaaang it's August already time moves faaaaast It's been mostly radio silence here in blogland recently, so I'm well overdue on filling folks in on life/plans/vidjamagaems/etc. Life: I've... actually been kind of active on BZP this summer! No new fics, true, but I've been having a good time in the BZPRPG, and of course there's been the 2015 stuff to deal with. Chalk this up to my actually having the summer off. ...Unfortunately (fortunately?) said mostly-free-summer is solely due to the fact that a week from today (Friday) I'm taking off for the West Coast, for good this time! I'll be starting work full-time out there in a few weeks, so much of this summer has been spent working out apartment stuff, moving issues, insurance (lemme tell you, nobody ever realizes how much insurance you have to deal with until they actually go independent), all sorts of stuff. That's eaten up a lot of time, and eaten into various projects I would've liked to have worked on. But it is pretty dang exciting! I'll be living on my own, working full-time, attempting to be a Repsonsible Adult. And in the meantime, I've been saying goodbye (for now) to a lot of friends and places. Wisconsin, I'm gonna miss you. Plans: Now the result of all the above is that I will be mostly MIA from BZP from next week Friday (the 15th) through the following week and maybe a bit beyond. The actual road trip part of things should only run through Tuesday, but given I start work the Monday after, that's not a lot of time to get settled into my apartment. I'll try to be around, but life takes priority. Immediately after that of course I actually start said job, and so I'll probably be a bit frazzled for the first month or so. Assuming things quiet down after that, you can expect me to be around in the evenings and maybe mornings from there on out - but 9 to 5(ish) is work. There is one particular BZP thing I wanted to get done this summer that I didn't really make any progress on, and it's still sitting there in the sidebar taunting me. I don't know how exactly Journey will turn out, but I'd still like to finish it someday. Considering I got about half through with the last NaNoWriMo, maybe this year I'll push on to the end. But here's a plan that might be of more interest to folks: I'll be streaming Smash 3DS when it releases in Japan next month! I have a Japanese 3DS with capture card for my work on another site, so I'll be putting that to good use. More details to come! Vidjamagaems: Well, vidjamagaem, singular. This summer in my down time I've been playing through the Persona 2 duology. They're my first Persona games, and while they've got some issues, they're still pretty good. I am very, very tempted to switch from Apollo (Justice, not the Persona) to Maya (Amano, not the spirit medium) in all my various internet avatars. Beyond that - nope, not much this summer. On to other stuff! Etc.: Uhhhhh dang this is a category huh. Alright, here's something: It's been a pretty seismic month or two here at BZP, huh? And it might very well get even louder before the year's up. It's been heartening to see - but it's also brought a few old ugly points back into the light. (And exacerbated a few new ones.) Regardless of what happens from here on out, I want BZP to stay a positive, welcoming place (or make it that way for those of you who don't feel it is already.) ...And this is the bit where I realize I don't really have a good way to wrap all this up. Which is fine! You know how your teachers always said you need to have a strong conclusion? Nuts to that. True blogging needs no rules. Oh, wait, one last thing! Due to some kind of bug, the quotation marks, apostrophes, and dashes on several of my stories vanished. They should be fixed now, but if you ever notice the same happening to you, comment in the Tracker issue!

    Graduation

Last Saturday, I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science (and honors) in Computer Science, a certificate in Japanese, and - thanks to a combination of my parents being able to save up for the past twenty years, a scholarship, in-state tuition rates, and a couple of internships - no debt. (The fact that last bit makes me the exception rather than the rule is a bit depressing.) I had a few research-related things to take care of Monday and Tuesday, but now - it's over. Like legit done. I am no longer a college student. (I may be a graduate student at some point in the future, but not now, at least.) To say this is profoundly weird is underselling it, and that's even before we get to the fact I actually have the summer open. College was a guiding force in my life for the past four years, a blend of work, education, and social life that - if not always perfect, and if occasionally a bit too harsh - was more fun than not. Now? I've been cut loose. "Good job," it boils down to, "now get out there and fend for yourself." That's over-dramatizing, I know. I have a job lined up starting in August (and will be moving out to the West Coast permanently as a result), and I'm surrounded by family and friends who have been supportive, eager to offer advice, and just generally fantastic. Still, it's just - whoa. I'm like, an adult now. That's about as weird as it gets. And y'know, that was a really fast four years. It's also pretty weird to realize that my return to BZP lined up pretty closely with college. I'd gotten reminded of this old series I used to like, Bionicle, sometime in summer 2010. Then around the turn of the new year, I actually managed to dig up my BZP login - turns out the server was looking for something other than 'GSR' due to having a different name during a long-ago server change - stopped by, made a post or two about how it was cool to be back, but I didn't anticipate being very active and all that. (Well, not exactly, lest I get smacked by the mods for making "I'm back!" posts.) Then BZP went down. And stayed that way for a while. And then it came back, and so did I. And then I wrote a story. And then I started talking to people. And then I became staff. And very suddenly I was having the slightly surreal experience of discovering new hobbies, making new friends, and having a more honest, fun time online than I'd had in several years thanks to a forum I'd joined in I think fifth grade. All while I was going through college, having internships, and (apparently?) doing Grown Up Stuff. So - here I am now! A college graduate, a BZP FL. What a weird four years, and I mean that in the best possible way. I might be done with uni for the time being (grad school's quite possible in a few years), but I'm quite used to BZP these days; I've met tons of fantastic people here, written some stuff that - if not great - was at least half-decent, and (hopefully) helped bring about at least a bit of positive change as staff. So here's to four weird, great years, and many more to come. (Also as long as I'm making a blog post - I will be out of town for about a week starting, oh, two hours from now. So sorry if I'm difficult to get in contact with!)
  13. First off: The Chima RPG Collab Contest-esque Thing (Contesque?) is heading into the home stretch (well, more accurately, it tripped over its own feet about a foot away from the home stretch and kind of laid there in the street for a week or so), so if you have any general ideas to input, this is your last chance! A full RPG opener post should be getting cobbled together in the near future. Second off: I'm bluer. Whoops. You won't see me around Q&A or Comics as much anymore (insert "when were you around comics" here, nyuk nyuk nyuk), but I am now FL for the Library as a whole, plus the Bionicle and Lego RPG forums. If you ever have any concerns, suggestions, or questions about those forums, please feel free to reach out to me - I'm listening! And while this has always gone as long as I've been staff, if you ever have any concerns about BZP as a whole, a member's behavior, or anything at all, my PM box is always open; I want to make BZP a welcoming and safe space for people. Third off: I'm in the middle of finals week (my final finals week, actually), so if I'm a little slow to respond to messages, that's why. I should be free done about a week from today. Fourth off: I wrote a thing again. When I get a chance to catch my breath, I'll probably have more to say about the process of writing Krahka and Onewa, but all that really matters is that Janus is the world's greatest editor. Think that's it for the moment. Happy springtime! ("But it's been spring for a while," some of you say. Some of you don't live in a frozen nightmare.)
  14. (Disclaimer: Re-reading this in the morning, this got kind of heavy and ventish. The important bit is - 2013 could have been better, but a happy new year to all.) So 2013 is almost over, huh. I've been reading people's 2013 posts; a lot of people seem to have had a rough year. Or maybe that's not totally accurate - it seems like a lot of people had a really eventful year, and not always in a good way. Looking back at 2013, I see a lot of good things that happened - and I see the bad stuff that came with them, and how I didn't much have a chance to enjoy the good things. 'Cause if I had to sum up 2013 in a word (I'm not sure why I would have to - some wild, contrived hostage situation, maybe?) it would be busy. I'm about to enter my final semester of college, but sometime around last January my studies started picking up speed and never really stopped. There were weeks where I would wake up, go to class, and then be at the library or lab until 11 at night. Lunch became optional, dinner became whatever was at the campus union. Sometimes it wasn't enough - for one class, I aced the first project, and thinking I was in good shape for the second, only had about half a week of craziness working on it leading up to the deadline. I bombed that project and wound up sacrificing about my whole final month of class that semester to the final project in the hopes of salvaging my grade. This summer I was working full-time again. Honestly, that was probably the least-stressful time of the year, at least with regards to offline stuff. It was a 9-to-5 job where my commute was twenty minutes, tops, on foot. Sure, I put in a few nights and weekends throughout the summer, but it was fairly steady. Still, I wound up spending a lot of that free time just... decompressing, for lack of a better term. Then the fall semester started, and the whole merry-go-round started again. The start of the semester wasn't that bad, really; I got to start researching, and I only had three classes going besides that. But that didn't last long. I had barely enough time to eke out my NaNo goal (compressed into the first three weeks of November) before the end-of-semester firestorm started and just didn't stop. That little notice in my sig about being gone until the "17th or later"? "Later" was the right word to use. My research took a turn for the worse, and until this morning I was back to putting in full days of work. Happy winter break. But when I step back and look at the year at a whole, and all this trouble - it's hard to describe. The work I did was, for the most part, good work. I pulled very high grades in my classes, I got hired back full-time at my summer job (and will be moving to the Pacific Northwest next August as a result), my research means I'll be graduating with honors and have the door to grad school open (and, y'know, hopefully winds up making a useful contribution to my field), and that NaNo writing that ate up my time - that's still 50,000 words of a story I want to tell. This is all really positive outcomes. And it's not that I hated my studies or job - I'm incredibly lucky that the field I'm interested in is active and hiring. But I guess that doesn't really change the fact that the bad - the stress, the lack of free time - was still there. There are projects I wanted to do more with that never got off the ground, friends I wanted to get to know better that got pushed back. I was so excited about the BZRPG this year, and I made I think two dozen posts, tops. I wanted to put more time into helping BZP and another forum I'm staff on, and I haven't been able to do as much as I'd hoped. But flip all that back around, and it's like - what am I complaining about? There are only 24 hours in a day, and thanks to the work I've put in (plus, of course, my circumstances, but a sociocultural analysis of the advantages conferred on me by my educational environment, race, gender, and class was the purview of my final paper in anthropology this semester, not the purview of a BZP blog entry). I feel like I can call myself 'successful' as a soon-to-be grad. And I know there are plenty of folks out there who had a much harder 2013, and who put in far more hard work than I did. And it's not like I was totally without free time or good memories - go through the blog and you can still find me gushing about stuff like Yelling Lawyers 5 or spending America Day in a high-rise. But to use one last "but"... I'm ready for the year to be over. I can't say it was a bad year. But I'm not sure I'd call it a happy one. 2014 is going to be a year of changes. I have one last semester which (fingers crossed) will be a little lighter than past ones, with some interesting new stuff thrown in, and then... I have a summer off. I don't start work until late August, and I graduate in May. I guess that the real 'good' that I'm hoping will have come from all the above is the good of not having to do it again, or at least not for a while. In 2014 I want to do the things I shelved in 2013. I want to work on my own projects, to get to know people better (BrickCon or bust!), to help the communities I'm a part of. I want to get home and not be too tired to do anything but check my e-mail and briefly look over BZP and Tumblr once. That's my New Year's resolution, or at least my New Year's hope - to go back to the things I want to do, and not just the stuff I have to. (Also dangit I just realized I didn't actually wish a happy new year in this thing. Happy new year! I hope you can do the things you want and not just the things you have to as well. If those are the same thing then you've got it figured out.)
  15. (Disclaimer: Most of the below was written at like, 1 AM, and it got a bit rambly.) I like writing stories. I dunno if you've noticed, but it's true. I also tend to be busy with school. I dunno if you've noticed, but that's also true. It seems appropriate to blog about the two, since they've been eating up most of my life lately. So that's what I'm doing. Blogging. About stories. And also school. Yeah. In all seriousness, though - I've got stories to tell. Well, eventually. I've got stories percolating, I guess. One's in the oven right now, another's in the crock-pot, there's one in the freezer that I've got to get around to pulling out and actually baking one of these days, there's one with the ingredients mostly lined up and one that's just a scribbled note on the fridge, to bring this tortured food metaphor to a close. So here they are. Journey: I've mentioned this on-and-off in my blog. It's over on the sidebar there, with a working title and a question mark by the date. It wound up being my NaNo this year, y'see. 50,000 words in three weeks, and still a war to go. It's been fun to write, I've got to say. With all due respect to GregF, there was so much more just waiting to be done with that alternate-universe-light-Teridax. "Villain except good" is boring. "Villain born of wholly different circumstances, whose personality is still rooted in the same faults and strengths of the original, put face-to-face with the destruction he's capable of" is fun. I wrote him in The Shadow and the Sea and was wholly unsurprised when he pulled a sequel hook into the ending. Never mind the half-mad once-Chronicler who winds up as the Makuta's partner. Or charge. Or enemy. It gets a bit blurry at times. And then there's the world said Makuta came from. What kind of Great Beings make the Makuta and then has them act as bodyguards and big shiny lightbulbs? (Ones that are quite fun to write and explore, for what it's worth, even if they aren't major players in the story.) Incidentally, the story's an absolute wreck right now. There's still two major chunks of plot to go, for one thing. Trying very hard to figure out who to kill and why. Re-reading sections and going "oh god there's so much talk of darkness and light you'd think this was a bad Kingdom Hearts fanfic rather than a hopefully decent Bionicle one." But wrecks are fun. You get to go back with a chainsaw and chop off all the messy bits, then dig straight into the heart of the thing and pull it out to the surface. If you haven't gone Mola Ram on your story, it's not done yet. (Also, "Journey" is still, technically, a working title. The trouble with working titles, though, is that you get used to them.) "Shadows' Gravesides": Now this one's an interesting case. To go back to the horrible metaphor, this is the one in the freezer. It's mostly written - I'd say about three-fourths. But somewhere along the line bits of it wound up spilling into Journey, and now it's sort of sitting there staring at me puppy-eyed. I may have to go back and finish it at some point before (or while? or after?) I start posting Journey. Bits and pieces aside, it might be fun to use it to do some thematic mirroring. Komae: Granted, he's not a story, he's a character. (Personally I'm not sure there's much difference.) The BZRPG's one of those things I've enjoyed my time in, even if said time is limited. I've got ideas, you see, and it's always fun to fling them out the window and go do something completely different. (There's also two other BZRPG ideas waiting in the wings. One's got a name, a species, a trait, and little else; the other's got a species, a job idea, and still needs a name. When will they show up? Heck if I know. Probably not in the next three weeks, for reasons to be detailed below.) Time Travelers: This is the one that's ingredients and little else. It's strange; this was the one I first went, "oh, I'll write this epic!" for, and now it's by far the least likely to ever get written. That hasn't stopped me from sowing a few seeds in Journey (on the contrary, it's quite fun building up these little connections), but make the question mark in "2014?" bolded in your mind. But maybe someday. (You may also recall I've mentioned an obscure adventure game by the name of Time Travelers; that was indeed the spark of inspiration, and if I ever do write this I'll leave a few homages in. Title'll probably change, though.) ...And then there's stories that have nothing to do with BZP at all, of course. Like the one I'm hoping to write next summer - the one with corporations that make kappas and the HR recruiter who's sick and tired of all these demons that keep talking down to her. That one's going to be fun too, I think. ------------------- Only problem is: there was something else in the title of this post, wasn't there. School, right. College, uni- whatever you want to call it. The thing that eats up time. It's weird to think I'm nearly done with my education (for now, at least). I'm in my penultimate semester, and between class and research my days are more than busy enough. (Things are going to be really packed from next week until two or so weeks later, so if I'm MIA from the 2nd to the 16th, there's your reason why.) I'll probably sit down and reflect on this whole 'education' thing more once I've actually graduated, but - it's been interesting. School's been a titanic part of my life, and especially these last two years, I've devoted tons of time to it. All those stories above still come second to making sure I get my papers done or my presentations ready to go. It's been rewarding, both personally and practically, but I'm getting ready to move on, I think. I know my limits, and I'm not anywhere close to burning out, but I've been tired this semester. It says a lot that I'm able to churn out 50,000 words of Toa and Makuta in three weeks, but the thought of writing an intersectional cultural autobiography of myself and the role the educational institutions I've attended played in my social development - a topic which is actually really interesting - that's likely to be a tenth that length just feels heavy at this point, for lack of a better term. I'm sure that in a year I'll be looking back on the whole thing fondly, but for now - I've come this far. I'm pretty ready to be done. ------------------- ...Sorry, things got a little heavier than expected at the end there. Point is - stories. I don't know when they'll get done, exactly (the hope for Journey is to start posting it in January, but you never know), but they're coming along, for the most part. BZP's always been a place for stories in my mind. Back when I first joined, I remember seeing so many stories. GaliGee, or T-Hybrid (was that his name? I'm pretty sure it was, but that was a decade (geez) ago), or plenty of others - they told stories, and they helped give this community life. Things are quieter now, but I like to think BZP's still got that spark of creativity. I guess it's just part of our DNA - I mean, this is a Lego forum. Building is what it's all about, in the end. At the end of the day, we create, and we enjoy what our fellow members do. The RPGs are all big ol' melting pots of people flinging stories at each other and seeing what sticks; we still get plenty of MOCs, our fair share of artworks and crafts, even a Matoran Dictionary or two - it brings a smile to my face. Basically: you're all right, BZP. You make stuff - good stuff. And I'm proud to be part of that. (Disclaimer, addendum: Told you it got rambly. Hopefully I'll have slightly saner entries in a few weeks.)
  16. Due to entries from this period being lost, a condensed version has been made available for your convenience. Basically, WROTE A FIC, GOTTA REPOST IT WENT BACK TO COLLEGE, DROWNED IN PROJECTS GOT POKEMON, DISCOVERED THE EXP SHARE WAS PRETTY OP BUT DIDN'T REALLY MIND BECAUSE IT SAVED TIME ALSO GOT THE ENGLISH RELEASE OF SCREAMING LAWYERS 5, HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THE SAME GOT PROMOTED TO FA, BECAME THE ETERNAL ROOMBA DUSTING OFF AN OUTLINE FOR A REALLY LONG FIC FOR NANO NEXT MONTH, WHO KNOWS IF IT'LL ACTUALLY GET DONE ACCIDENTALLY WALKED INTO AN ELLEN DEGENERES TAPING, IT WAS A NEW EXPERIENCE That is all.
  17. Not pictured: Shiny new advertising policy which means I can finally say YOUTUBE and TUMBLR The Clikit Supertramps Macklemore Tons of free food The guided tour of the Boeing factories Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
  18. It's been about a month since I last posted on this little bloggy thing, and plenty of stuff's been happening, so I figured it was overdue. So! Work. Microsoft continues to be a pretty sweet gig, if a busy one. And man was E3 awkward around the office. Anyway, I'm usually there from like 9 to 5 or 6 most days, so if you're wondering why I seem to only be around in the evening these days, there's yer answer. Writing-wise! I put some entries in the Flash Fiction Marathon. You should too! Or barring that, go read 'em and vote! They're short and sweet and some of them are Pretty Darn Good. (It is not for me to decide if my own stuff is included in that last category.) In the longer-term, still plucking away at that next epic (total aside I may have brought up in the past, but am I the only one who always thought the term 'epic' was a bit... grandiose? I digress.) If there is one advantage to Bionicle getting cut off so abruptly you'd think it was an episode of Game of Thrones that somehow wound up on Nicktoons, it's that it left a lot of fertile plot threads dangling, and it continues to be a lot of fun to write about the alternate-universe's "Good" Teridax and a certain other character (whose name I omit so's not to spoil The Shadow and the Sea for those who haven't read it). I'm still hoping to get the lion's share of it done by the end of summer. So in the words of many a Japanese game developer, "Please look forward to it." Speaking of the vidya gaems, I haven't been gaming that much this summer, but I'm giving The Walking Dead a go. There's a lot of stuff that needs polishing, but it's refreshing to see a game where you have to make tough choices and there isn't just a magical "everything's fine if you have enough Charm/charisma/what have you" dialogue option. And at this point it seems like basically everyone has Animal Crossing, so I'm probably going to crack and pick that up sometime this weekend. (Hopefully a physical copy, 'cause Nintendo's download systems leave a lot to be desired.) And of course on July 25th the Japanese version of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies comes out. Because I am the kind of guy who finds the lives of fictional lawyers unspeakably entertaining (and because I help run a fansite dedicated to said fictional lawyers), I'll probably be sinking a lot of time into that for a week or so, so if I'm not around BZP, just follow the sounds of people yelling "OBJECTION" unreasonably loud. (Also: gave the first episode of the Dangan Ronpa anime a try. Yeah, not that confident in it so far. 13 episodes is not much time to pack that entire game into. The LP of Super Dangan Ronpa 2 continues to be excellent, though! Wish I had a PSP of my own.) Other miscellanea? I celebrated AMERICA DAY on the top floor of a high-rise, which was pretty cool. The Otter continues to put up with my playing what appears to be the single most Pollyana-esque BZRPG character he's ever seen. Seattle is awesome as always, though I did kind of prefer my apartment last year where I had a bike path next to my apartment instead of a really steep, really busy street. So, anyway, that was your cool story for the day, bro.
  19. Two flights and one last-minute apartment switch later, I'm back in Seattle (well, Redmond) for another summer at Microsoft! As always, if you're going to be around the area anytime between now and August, drop me a line and I'm always down to hang out. (Also: No I'm not on or in any way connected to the Xbox team, and I can guarantee whatever XBO joke you're about to make, I've heard it a thousand times. )
  20. Good news: Secured a thesis advisor for next fall Things are mostly sorted out for moving back to Seattle in a month Got a letter back from my good friend Cederak Continuing to jot down story ideas, looking forward to sitting down and writing this summer Bad news: Presentation on Monday Debate on Tuesday OS project on Thursday Graphics project on Friday Sick Long story short, my mild work-induced inactivity has grown to complete work-induced inactivity, and will remain that way until Saturday at the earliest. If I don't make it back alive, tell my family I love them and tell Tekulo that he's a dweeb.
  21. New avatar! It's been a good five months or so of Child's Play, but I think it's time to retire it until later this year, when the drive picks up again in earnest. In the meantime, though, Ace Attorney 5 finally got some more solid details, including the return of Apollo Justice as a playable character. Apollo was the star of the fourth game of the series, and while he kind of got overshadowed by Phoenix, I loved his personality and am really glad to see he'll be playing a major role in the fifth game as well. But really, can we stop and appreciate this cover for a sec? From left to right, there's a defense attorney whose first name is Phoenix and has the Superman cowlick; an 18-year-old attorney who specializes in psychology and has a supercomputer in her necklace that can read people's emotions; a prosecutor who is also a convicted murderer, and a guy named Apollo Justice who has a magic bracelet that lets him spot people's subconscious tells. (And never mind how he dresses when injured.) And that's just the main characters. I love this series, because no matter how insane you think it can get, it always finds a way to top itself. Anyways, in other news, between covering this AA5 info for a different site and university, I've unfortunately been pretty busy lately. Still, I'm chipping away at the plot for a follow-up to The Shadow and the Sea; it was far too much fun writing alternate-universe Good!Teridax to leave it at that. With any luck, I can really buckle down and write the most of it this summer.
  22. If anyone ever asks you if you want to get up at 5 in the morning to drive 150 miles to take on other universities in puzzles, trivia, coding, word association, and (most importantly) Lego building, say yes and don't look back. I might work at Microsoft, but man I love Google sometimes.
  23. Hey guys, just a heads up that because literally every single one of my professors decided "we'll have everything due just before spring break so people don't need to work over spring break", I will be extremely busy this week. If you need to get in touch with me, I'll try and reply to PMs as quick as I can, but I may be difficult to reach on Skype and won't be around the boards much. See you all Friday!

    Ten Years

Ten years ago, I snuck onto my parents' computer while they were out and used their e-mail to register for a little site called BZPower. Today, home from uni, I briefly hopped onto their computer to deal with investments for the coming year. If you need me, I'll be in the corner, curled up into a ball and mumbling about how time is really, really weird. -------------------------------------- But seriously, this is more like a two-year anniversary for me, or maybe a three, given those seven years I was elsewhere. It's been a good year for me here since my last spinny change-up - I got more involved, met some friends, somehow became staff, and only managed to lodge my foot in my mouth a few times. So a tip of the hat to you, BZP. You can be a pretty cool place when you put your mind to it.
  25. Wisconsin pays little heed to such things as 'continuity of climate'. I support this claim with the evidence of it being 55 on Thursday where I was, and 20 with three inches of snow on Friday. In the James Bond movies, Q is now essentially Otacon, only British and with (presumably) less love of anime. November novels are nice. Writing as you like without making it into a race and juggling it with college is nicer. Jiro Ishii gave Kyugo Shindo a deLorean and his daughter an orange jacket solely for the Back to the Future joke 9 hours into Time Travelers. I have unholy amounts of work due Wednesday and Friday. Also, speaking of Time Travelers, my Japanese reading comprehension is decent, but far far far lacking in the kanji department. Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney comes out on Wednesday. I have been waiting for this game for two years. The custom unit in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem is absurdly broken. I am probably going to need to do a lot of said work early if I want to actually play Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney on Wednesday. When both my mom and I are reading the same book, it's easiest for everyone involved to just turn it over to her and let her completely finish it, because she reads faster than any human should. I'm still waiting on feedback from those folks who offered to give that story of mine a look, so if you're reading this... sometime soon-ish? I know it needs work, I just want some other eyes to help me figure out where. So, how was your Thanksgiving?
