  1. In Okoto’s Region of Stone, a villager might be minding his own business when the expanse of sand around them suddenly erupts into a great shimmering sea of many colours. The rays of the great hot sun that beat incessantly down upon the desert are reflected and refracted into the full lustrous spectrum of red to purple, immersing their hunched silhouette in a sheen of breath-stopping prismatic radiance. More-often-than-not, the villager will then look up, flip off a rude gesture with a cussword, then ensure that any food they brought with them is well out of sight. These semi-intelligent vulture-like beings have earned a reputation amongst the locals as a pest that acts purely in its own interest. As well as food and territory (anything its rays touch is the Condor’s, according to the Condor), specimens of both genders are constantly aware of their appearance and are always searching (or fighting) for shiny trinkets and spare parts to add to their glittering mantles. When they aren’t at the nearest waterhole admiring their own reflection (if they can find a puddle that isn’t too muddy), there will always be some scrounging through houses or harassing Villagers and their livestock. Fortunately, when this happens all it needs to send it packing is a bit of humility - a commodity locals are more than happy to dispense …in the form of manure and DustHog droppings. This is a combiner model that is built solely from the pieces contained in 71303 Ikir, 71304 Terak and 71301 Ketar, the Creatures of Fire, Earth, and Stone. After a Mech, Tahtorak, and Dragon, I decided to go for a humanoid of sorts, which was both fun and difficult since the Creatures contained few of the conventional limbs and torsos (not to mention connectors) one would generally rely on. I’m quite happy with how this turned out. I’m especially pleased with the head and torso, and I think I did a decent job applying each set’s various key pieces (though I couldn’t quite get bear-trap armour to work, sadly) and grouping the plentitude of gold, orange and purple together.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_y1yuqwlko It's official, everyone. New Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go! Later this week, over 80 Gen 2 Pokemon will become available to catch in the game. The baby Pokemon of Gen 2 have already been available to be caught from catching eggs. But these will be catchable by throwing Pokeballs at them. There will also be new berries as well as items that help to evolve certain Pokemon. I don't know much about them as of this entry, but more info will probably be released for them soon. I've been waiting for this announcement for a long time. I still play Pokemon Go on a daily basis. Not to the extent that I did a few months ago, but I play it enough to get the daily bonuses. This, however, will most likely give me a reason to play it a lot more, and I can't wait to get back on the hunt for catching new Pokemon. What do you guys think of this announcement? Are you excited that Gen 2 Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go?
  3. So the questions in this topic are simple: what did you think of the Bionicle: Mask of Creation and Bionicle: Mask of Control mobile games and would you recommend either of them to someone. I've personally never played them before, as I didn't have a device that could download them until about a month ago. I have thought about getting one or both of them since I do have an Iphone now though, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Maybe this poll will help me decide. So, what did you all think of these games?
  4. Well, almost immediately after I bought Kopaka and the Protector of Earth at the start of the year, I began making Mocs of them. I didn't have too many parts, so they were fairly simple. Later on in march when I got Gali and Tahu, an idea struck me. What if I made Mocs of Gen 1 characters? I made a large Visorak with a spinner, Gen 1 Toa besides the Mata/Nuva, a failed attempt at a Bohrok and eventually a Rahkshi. Unfortunately, all of my photos were saved on my school computer which was wiped at the end of the year. However, I now have nearly all of the Bionicle 2015 sets, expect for a two of the protectors, the four skull villains and Lewa. With the parts, I rebuilt Rahkshi better than before, and with my expanded parts selection, I was able to make four Rahkshi. I hope you enjoy the bios and Mocs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On our island of Okoto, strange creatures displaying higher intelligence and abilities than most wild beast have been spotted recently. I have devoted my time to studying them since their arrival. They are reptilian in appearance, with spikes on their backs and an armor-like shell. They appear to have some powers, but not on the same level of our heroic Toa. These beasts call themselves "Rahkshi" and appear peaceful, but their presence combined with their power seems to suggest otherwise. Hailing from a faraway island, the Rahskhi are a species hundreds of millennia old. Through time, they have evolved and changed and developed into a species far different from their original form. I managed to befriend one of them, a large red and black male who goes by the name of Xurahk. He is a Rahkshi scholar and has gladly shared his repertoire of history and information with me. It is only fair that I share this information with the readers of this report, as it will be a boost to your appreciation of the subject. Long ago, the Rahkshi were created by a mysterious brotherhood as soldiers and guards. Each Rahkshi had a special power, such as insect control, quick healing or disintegration. The Rahkshi were adept at using these powers in conjunction with the strength and size to achieve whatever goal the brotherhood bestowed upon them. One member of the brotherhood eventually took control forcefully and brought darkness to their whole universe. He went about killing the group's dissenters, but a small band of them used an artifact to travel to our world. They began a new life with their Rahkshi, but eventually died off leaving the Rahkshi in control of the island they had landed on. The Rahkshi began to change physically and mentally soon afterward, or so the story goes. Their strange anatomy became more organic and more alive. They became capable of reproduction, and started a civilization of their own. As time went on, some things were lost to them. Their powers were weakened, and the large build that had been so common was now a rarity. But in spite of these losses, they gained something much better in return- a mind capable of logic and reason like our own. They progressed forward making advances we Okotans have yet to dream of. At the peak of Okotan civilization, our ancestors lived in harmony and made many wonders we have yet to replicate. As we all know, Makuta betrayed Ekimu and the island fell into chaos. The Rahkshi had no such incident. They continued to progress but began to wonder what lay beyond the ocean surrounding their home. Only recently did any Rahkshi have the bravery to attempt to cross it, and they discovered our homeland during their adventures. Most of the islanders are very suspicious of them, but they agreed to let the Rahkshi be here as long as they gave us knowledge and technology. With the Toa on their suicide mission to awaken Ekimu, we feared that we might be in need of assistance once more. I have met four Rahkshi personally so far. In the few weeks they have been here, I have learned so many new things. Laws of motion, why things fall down, the weather and more have all been revealed to me. This newfound knowledge is priceless, but I hope that by introducing these four to you I can help build our relations for a prosperous future. 1. Lu'wrahk Lu'whrak is a female Rahkshi of Disintegration. She is fairly friendly but fierce nonetheless. Lu'whrak lives life without worry, knowing that if she gets herself in danger she can easily find her way out. An honorable fighter in combat and a kind friend in peace, she is one of the more amiable Rahkshi on the island. Pose Pose 2 Back Standing 2. Hapurahk Hapurahk has gotten the short end of the stick his whole life. He was born with a misshapen back and with a missing eye. Thanks to the amazing technology of their homeland, he was given a mechanical eye but his back still retained its strange shape. His colors- white and gold- corresponded to no known Rahkshi power, but he eventually found that he had the power of Weather Control. Sadly, he has less control over his power than one of the level 1 Rahkshi of ancient times. Hapurahk has an indomitable will and a desire to make things better for himself or others through any means. He is an extremely skilled warrior with his swords and has yet to lose a match. Winning matches give him hope that maybe someday he will turn his life around for good. He hopes to do just that on Okoto. Pose Side Back Standing 3. Zohrahk Even among the Rahkshi of our time, who are considered small compared to their past forms, Zohrahk is very short. She is a little bit taller than the Protectors, and much more fearsome. Her spines are small and curved, but what makes here truly unique are the horn-like protrusions on her head. She refuses to divulge whether they are natural or just something she wears for intimidation. A master of stealth, she is the most aggressive of the four Rahkshi I have met. She is an expert at dealing extreme amounts of attacks in a short period of time. Her double-ended staff is similar to the ones used by the old Rahkshi. I have seen her use the staff to vault into the air and unleash rapid attacks on her opponents. Most of the other Rahkshi dislike her for her aggressiveness, but she can be friendly at times. Pose Side Back Standing 4. Xurahk The final Rahkshi I list here, Xurahk appears imposing at first, but he is actually a renowned and kindly scholar. His size is rare among modern Rahkshi, and is comparable to that of the old ones. He carries a large axe and shield for defense, but does not engage in combat. He only fights if he needs to and spends most of his time reading, learning and discovering. Xurahk is the most friendly to me, and I consider him a friend. He has taught me much of the science and history of his species, and I have done the same in return. Our meeting has been peaceful and beneficial to all, as it usually is when two scholars meet. Pose Back Standing I hope this guide been informative and helpful to all. May this knowledge be passed down for generations to come. Finally, I present you with a picture that should have been much easier to take- I gathered all four of these Rahkshi together and used their "camera" to "photograph" them. Yes, this is the same device I used to "photograph" their individual pictures. Thank you very much for reading this guide, and leave comments and criticism for my improvement as a scholar. Together!
  5. ******WARNING-LONG POST ALERT****** Now before I start, I would just like to say that I know not everybody wants the two generations merged, and that’s fine. I however, loved how intricate the initial storyline was and this new basic Generation 2 storyline pales in comparison so far. I also apologize if this idea has been proposed before, and if it was, I did not intend to steal this idea and claim it as my own. I just figured that merging the continuities would be a fun challenge and as such, here is how I’d do it, thus allowing for a soft reboot for the kids of today, but allowing the older fans to still have a connection to the story and characters they grew up with and loved. Starting off, let us begin with where we left off in Generation 1, a cliff hanger on all fronts of the story. From what we know about Generation 2, it’s more or less a clean slate, but this could simply be due to lack of information. Let’s assume that an unspecified amount of time has passed between Generation 1 and Generation 2. Not a lot, but enough to conclude the cliff hangers left from the serials a few years ago. (An example would be, and while we don’t know how it will occur, that Lewa eventually escaped captivity from the Bota Maga, learned Agori and regrouped with his team) Now you may be saying works so far, or maybe this is taking too much liberty and is too fan fiction-y already. I do not know. Despite this, we will begin with the premise of Generation 2 and begin to merge it with Generation 1. Generation 1 left us with everybody on Spherus Magna, and for the most part, happily. The Mata Nui robot was scattered across the planet, and that is all we know of what happened to it for the most part. This brings us to the new Island of Okoto. (May it be noted that this new generation has simplified the names and or eliminated them all together) Looking at a map of Okoto and Artakha, they are not too dissimilar. My idea proposes that the island of Okoto and Artakha are actually one and the same. The island itself was named after the being Artakha himself, this having been stated. Something else that has popped into my thoughts was that what if the island of Artakha was simply named Artakha by outsiders? The city/island was closed off for how many years after the incident with the Makuta. Besides recently the Toa Nuva being there, nobody knows what it looks like or even knows much about it period. Who is to argue that its real name, known only to its residents, was actually ...Okoto. Following this, during the events of 2010 with the Mata Nui Robot falling to the ground, in the mayhem, and this is where some people may jump off board of my theory, what if Makuta in his last act before falling, managed to remove the mask of creation from Artakha in some fashion, and it subsequently got lost in the city itself during these events. Fearing for his life as well as everybody else’s, Artakha was forced to flee his island and escape to Spherus Magna, without his mask, and sadly, some residents of his city. So, where does Ekimu fit into this theory? Taking a page from Marvel with Thor and Mjölnir, as well as the fact that we never knew much about Artakha in the first place, what if wearing the mask of creation simply creates the being Artakha, such as how one who wields Thor’s hammer subsequently becomes Thor? What if Ekimu, a matoran/villager/agori/something, had become Artakha when he was rewarded the mask all those years ago. Having lost it, he simply reverted back to being Ekimu. As mentioned, some matoran/villagers (Using Generation 2 vocabulary) were trapped and did not escape the robot, and as always , divided themselves based upon elements an continued to live as best they could in this newly rejuvenated Artakha/Okoto . (This would be thanks to either the mask of creation or the mask of life, or even both) Eventually, on Spherus Magna, the Ignika at some point either devolved the rest of the Toa Nuva, or evolved Tahu again, and due to their adaptive armor, they now look the way they do. At some point and by somebody, they were tasked to go back into the robot to the mask maker’s city, where Teridax, having unbeknownst to everybody, actually fell into a coma like the new Generation 2 story depicts. As for our heroes, canister travel is nothing new, nor forgettable, or is it…? The Toa Nuva, once again, suffered amnesia upon arrival, but subconsciously still knew that their mission was to collect their new adaptive golden Kanohi Nuva (That Artakha had been working on before the events of 2010), as well as collecting the mask of creation and saving the Matoran/Villagers. Teridax, still being alive, used his powers to raise his army of undead warriors under Kulta’s command, and control the king of skull spiders, and set them upon our beloved Toa Nuva, thus bringing us to where the story currently is at on BIONICLE.Com This is just a theory, but I hope you all enjoyed it. If this is in the wrong thread, I apologize, please move it. Also, if this theory has been proposed by somebody else, feel free to speak up and take credit for being first to think of this. Otherwise, tell me what you guys think. Did I forget anything you’d like to add? Did I dig any plot holes that I may fall into? Thanks for reading!
  6. There have been many legends about a seventh Master, one with the power over Lightning, but nobody expected these legends to come true! Allying with the Heroes of Okoto, Voriki uses his powers to strike down the skull spider menace! Main Image Back view Battle ready! Victory, or a throwback pose Comparison with Tahu "Let's see if you're worthy of being the seventh Toa!" A challenger appears! So yeah, Gen.2 styled Voriki. I think I'm the first person to make this. I'm not sure why I settled on the Purple, white, and gold colour scheme, I just felt like it worked. I feel like the weapon is too simple, despite trying to make it as interesting as possible, but then again, I was trying to make this like it would be an actual set, so that's a thing. Comments and feedback are welcome!
  7. So, finally I made revamps of all Toa, because for me there was few things to fix. I was trying to not making too big changes and left them as much original as I could. 8. So, after creating Falyx, I decided to create more Protector OC's! Without further ado, here they are! Each one has their own shoulder build, though not all are unique. Their main weapons mirror the Gen 2 Toa's weapons, though they aren't exactly the same in all cases. I also managed to use all of the 7 extra studs you get with the Protectors on each one. After that, however, the similarities pretty much end. All that being said, I apologize for the lackluster set up. Lighting might be pretty bad, pictures might be pretty bad, everything might be pretty bad actually. Group Shot (sorry for quality) {Falyx} A quiet, happy soul, Falyx often spends his time exploring the Region of Earth. He always finds a bright side, he always tells a bad joke or pun on purpose, and he protects his friends until the end. In battle, he prefers wielding his trusty Star WarHammer, but he has been known to wield his Spiked Ball-and-Chain. When needed, he will man one of the many Earth Turrets scattered in the central part of the region to fend off large groups of attackers. Make no mistake; though his joyful demeanor paints him as a happy-go-lucky individual, he can be completely ruthless in battle and will stop at nothing to protect those who need it. Not much is different from him from my last topic, except I updated his back to have a bit of armor (as well as to cover it up). He is probably my new Self-MoC for Gen2. I wish I could've made a different shoulder arrangement for him, but the Protector of Earth's shoulders just fit too well with him. Front Side Back Alternate Weapon Earth Turret Earth Turret Front Earth Turret Side Earth Turret Manned Crosshairs {Chath} Quiet, reserved, and generally alone, Chath finds company distracting. Though he can operate in a team, he prefers solitude, and often seems terrified of large gatherings. He tries to avoid other people, but when found in situations where it's unavoidable, he takes immense care of those with him and overreacts to any negative occurrence, as if trying to prevent something from the past from happening again. He generally fights with his Frost-Tipped Halberd, but he's also been known to use an Ice Buzz-Shield and a Blizzard WarBlade in its stead. He rides on a Rocket-Powered Sled to traverse the treacherous Region of Ice, and rumor has it he has a pet, though no one can confirm this. I kinda felt bad for making a completely new Self-MoC, so I felt that Chath deserved a Gen2 reboot. His character is barely altered, though I am making him much more quiet. As for his actual physical build, I'm not too happy with it. He just has a remade Protector of Fire build and extended limbs, and I'm not too happy with the silver 4-length shells on his torso, but otherwise he's fair enough. Paranoid, even. Though he means well, he's always terrified that a fight is nearby, and therefore always wears lots of extra armour. He tinkers with weapons and machinery constantly, trying to make the best offensive creations he can. He is accustomed to never going anywhere alone, because "you never know when you might need backup". Though high-strung, he is an incredible fighter and can hold more than his own in a fight. He generally wields two basic Flare Blades or his Double Slicer, a weapon of his own invention. If ever alone, he rides out on his Jet Rod to add to his fire power. I wanted Avaemer's character to deviate from the "easy to enrage" and "always ready for a fight" fire characters, so I instead made him constantly over-prepared. He reminds me of a veteran back from battle, someone who knows the fight's over but he can't escape his instincts. MoC-wise, he's the first OC to have a custom shoulder set up. My only wish is that I could've used less gold, but I could only use what I had. I also used the... bone extender pieces to bulk up his forearms a bit, just looked nice to me. She doesn't mean to be, but she's known for getting herself into trouble. She's more than capable of getting herself out of it, but it's reached the point where the Protector of Water tries to keep her within the village when she can, though Staida always finds her way out. She makes mistakes, but takes the full blame for them, and always finds a way to right her wrongs, to whatever extent. In battle, she carries her Curved Water Spear, or more rarely her two Serrated ArmBlades. She can often be seen sailing on her Fishing Boat, though she's added a small canon to the bow of the ship. Not much to say on Staida's character, really just reminds me of Takua and Macku. Build-wise, I gave her a slightly thinner custom shoulder set, and just added some blue shells of varying sizes. I'm really glad of how her colours turned out. I also really like her boat. She swings and glides throughout the Region of Jungle stopping villagers of all kinds from hurting the wildlife. Even in instances when villagers are attacked without provoking the attacker, she will often scold the villager to be more careful. She swings into battle with Wind-Bred Axe or with her Chain Whip, and soars through the air on her Jungle Glider, armed with an aerial gun. I've always felt that a Air or Plantlife Toa would not be the kind of person you'd want to get into a fight with, mainly because those two elements are so deeply tied with nature that they have a lot to protect. So, I made Henso the living embodiment of Wildlife Protection. She knows how to tame any beast and how to attack anyone. Her construction wasn't all that difficult, either. She has her own shoulder construction, and other than a bit of work getting some printing off of the dark green 5-length armor shell on her torso and finding some lime green shells, she was a relative breeze. She hates the desert, she hates the sand, and she hates the heat. Any chance she gets to travel, she takes, just so she doesn't have to deal with all the blasted sand. When out of her element, she's actually very happy to be around and playful. She and Falyx get along swimmingly, telling jokes to each other, but once she's back in the Region of Stone that all changes. She really hates the sand. The only good thing about her Region are all the large stones that protrude out of the desert, creating amazing plateaus and deep ravines, but even those tend to have their fair share of sand. She carries two Sharpened Boomerangs into battle, or her two Energized Shortswords once those are gone. To get around, she uses her Sand Drifter, kicking up a condensed sandstorm wherever she goes. I've always kinda wondered what would happen if a Toa or Matoran wasn't a huge fan of their element, and that bled into Peska's character. I wanted her to be a lot like the original Pohatu, but only under certain conditions. Her construction, however, was probably the hardest. She had the most alterations, at least. Her back and shoulders, while custom, aren't my favourite thing in the world, and I wish I didn't have to use any of the gold, but I was itching for pieces. Fully realized, however, I think she pulls it all off. 9. I think many Bionicle fans will agree that although Gen 1 Bionicle's story was pretty awesome, it had its share of flaws in both its content and the way it was delivered. Generation 2 represents a fresh new start for the line, whereupon I hope LEGO use what they've learned from some of Gen 1's precieved weaknesses to make Gen 2 have a great storyline (after they finish up that mediocre web series). I'll say what I hope LEGO will do with Gen 2's story, and then I's like to know what you guys think they should do. (I know I've kinda discussed this topic in "Will Bionicle Ever Reach Its full Story Potential," but I figured something more focused would be better for discussion). From what I personally believe, and from what I've gathered from other members on this forum, these are the completely subjective flaws of Gen 1 Bionicle: 1) The overall plot was too complex, requiring fans to read through multiple stories, presented through many forms of media (story serials, novels, graphic novels, movies, guidebooks) in order to fully understand. 2) The online story serials lacked structure, and were basically pointless side plots with no real effect on the main story. In particular Brothers In Arms had a weird ending. To me, they seemed kind of "fanfiction-y" (no offense meant to our lord and saviour Mr. Farshtey). 3) This one's kind of split between fans, but some people didn't like how Bionicle got darker with more Sci-Fi elements as the series went on. 4) Some people didn't like the sudden setting changes of the Ignition Arc 5) Some lore elements, such as romance being non-canon and the characters' 100,000 year life spans can be pretty restrictive/convoluted. 6) The Toa Nuva had poor characterization, as all 6 Toa were little more than shallow archetypes. This also applies to many of the villains. Also some fans want more female characters. Here's what I personally believe LEGO could do to make the Gen 2 story better: 1) Make the story less serialized, and more focused and concise. You shouldn't have to read online serial, comics, novels, and graphic novels to get the whole story. LEGO will probably minimize the amount of story media anyway. The story should also be pre-planned, instead of being made up as it's being written. This would allow the writers to fit a lot story into a small amount of media efficiently, without any of the excess plotlines in Greg's writing. 2) Make the story less complex, but still interesting. Gen 2 has to find the sweet spot between the immensely complex epic that was Gen 1, and the bare-bone frame that was Hero Factory. I wouldn't mind the story being slightly more light-hearted, but it has to have at least some darkness in it for it to be Bionicle in my eyes. 3) Keep the interesting parts of the story. While the lore could be less complex, fundamental elements like the matoran language and the various cultures of the matoran tribes should be kept, because they were what made Bionicle so unique. 4) Maintain a more consistent genre. Gen 2 has started out as fantasy, and for the most part it should stay that way. I wouldn't mind some Sci-Fi elements here, but nothing as drastic as the shift made in Gen 1. 5) Maintain well developed settings, and change settings less. It's no accident that people get attached to interesting places over time. It would be nice it Okoto was further developed, and if the Toa could stay on it for some time before going elsewhere. 6) Have actual character development. "Nuff said. And finally, 7) Allow romance. Also, not everyone lives 100,000 years. So, what do you guys think LEGO could do to Gen 2, to make it as good if not better than Gen 1?
  10. Author's note: at the end of December, I made an open blog post asking for prompts. This story is based on Xaeraz's prompt: okoto toa form kaitas by sitting on each other's shoulders. akamai vs waihura ensues ...So you can blame him for this. --------------------------------- Tahu scratched the back of his head and looked down at the Protector. “…Run that by me again, Vakama?” The elder glanced away, clearly embarrassed. “You see – that is – there have been legends, after all, and they speak of unity and joined strength –“ “How do you get from that to asking us if we can combine ourselves?” Pohatu broke in. “Well,” Vakama ventured again, “it – could be a useful tool against the Skull Spiders and their cohorts –“ “It’s absurd, is what it is.” Kopaka’s voice was sharp and more than a touch confused. “Why in the world would you even think such a thing is possible?” “Because –“ the elder raised a hand dramatically and threw fire into his voice – “you are the destined Toa, sent to save Okoto, as foretold by Ekimu and passed down –“ “Takua put you up to this, didn’t he?” Lewa asked. The elder kept his hand in the air and stared straight ahead in the hopes that ignoring the Toa of Jungle long enough would, in fact, rewrite history so that he would never have spoken. “Protector Vakama.” Onua’s voice was almost chiding. Vakama’s arm drooped down and brought the rest of him with it. “I’m sorry,” he said wearily. “It got out of hand – he asks about you all the time, you know, can Toa Tahu do this, can Toa Gali do that – I can’t very well not answer him.” “And he asked you if we could combine?” Gali sounded halfway between bemused and bewildered. “I never should have told him about lending you my weapons,” the Protector grumbled. “He has such an active imagination – give him an inch, and he’ll hear a mile.” “Is that pride I hear, Vakama?” Tahu said with a smile. The elder stood tall. “My son has a good heart and a sharp mind, Tahu. He will do great things for this island someday.” “But until then, you told him we can put ourselves together into super-Toa,” Pohatu replied chipperly. Vakama sagged once more. “It just sort of happened. He was asking about how you all worked together – if Gali and Lewa could make a swamp from thin air, if Kopaka and Pohatu could go skiing in the desert. Before I knew it he was convinced you could all fit together like a set of builder’s toys. What was I supposed to do, tell him he was wrong?” “Yes,” Kopaka said simply. The other five shot him a glare. “What? We cannot simply take ourselves apart and put the pieces back together.” “You’d probably misplace half a dozen of them anyway,” Lewa replied. Gali put her hands up. “Alright, alright. Protector Vakama, I’m sorry, but there simply isn’t anything we can do for Takua.” The elder looked desperate. “Please, Gali. It doesn’t have to be real, just think of something! You don’t know how many times he’s tried to follow Tahu and I out on our quest – if I can show him the power of the Toa without dragging him into danger, maybe he’ll settle down. ” Tahu sighed and put his hand to his face. “Well – I suppose I could take him lava-surfing.“ “He’ll be expecting something from all of us,” Onua replied. “So what do we do?” Lewa asked. For a few moments the hut was silent. Pohatu snapped his fingers. “Oh no,” Kopaka muttered. The Toa of Stone ignored him. “Lewa, those jungle-plays your village does. Think they can spare a few props?” “They’d spare the stage if I asked.” “Then brothers, I have a beautiful idea.” Takua was practically vibrating as Vakama lead him down to the village’s south gate. “The Toa are going to be here all six of them and they’re going to show me how they combine and it’s going to be just like the legends this is going to be so cool –“ “Now, Takua.” Vakama tried to keep his voice stern – easier said than done given the smile that seemed to be creeping across his face of its own will. “The Toa have a great quest and a greater destiny to deal with; they cannot spend too much time with us. You must be very polite, do you understand?” “-And the Skull Spiders won’t stand a chance, even if they put themselves together –“ Vakama sighed and patted the younger Protector on the shoulder. When this was over, he owed the Toa a debt of thanks. Before long they had reached their destination, a secluded clearing tucked between a few stone outcroppings. Matau was already there, seated on a bit of rock and whittling away at one of his little wooden figures. He looked up with a smile as the two approached. “Evening, Vakama. And a good evening to you as well, Takua.” “Mat- Protector Matau!” The little villager was practically hopping up and down. “Did you come to see the Toa too?” “I did. I hear they’re going to do something really special.” Takua nodded so vigorously Vakama had to keep a hand atop his son’s mask, lest it fly away. “Uh-huh! They’re going to combine into the Toa Kaita, and then they’re going to go clear out the skull spiders once and for all!” Matau smiled and nodded back, but shot Vakama a slightly incredulous look. ‘Toa Kaita’? The Protector of Fire shook his head helplessly. “Takua,” he began, “remember, the Toa will be very busy, and they all have their own quests. This is only for a few minutes –“ Takua gasped and shot out a finger. “There!” Vakama looked up. For a moment his mind wasn’t quite capable of processing what he was seeing, and then he clapped a hand to his mouth to keep either a groan or a laugh from escaping – he wasn’t sure which it would be. Off to his side, Matau was grinning up a storm. Onua, Pohatu, and Tahu came first; Onua was the base, of course, with Pohatu’s feet awkwardly locked on to his shoulder armor with what looked like a bit of hasty metalwork. The Toa of Stone was gripping Tahu’s feet so hard it was a wonder his fingers didn’t break, and the Toa of Fire himself was clearly doing his best not to wobble too much in his role as top of the Toa tower. (There was also an attempt at an overlong cloak dangling from Tahu’s shoulders, but somewhere a string had come loose and it was now fluttering in the wind, hiding exactly none of the fact that this was just three Toa standing on top of each other.) “Hear me!” yelled Tahu, in what Vakama could only assume was an attempt at sounding dramatic. “I am Akamai, the Master of Valor!” Vakama glanced at his son. Takua’s eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets. Kopaka, Gali, and Lewa were the next around the corner; the Toa of Water served as the base, with Lewa atop her shoulders and Kopaka above all. If Tahu had looked concerned about toppling over, Kopaka looked downright terrified, and Vakama could see that someone had taken the measure of binding his feet to Lewa’s hands with thick vine. “I am Waihura-“ Vakama could see, if not hear, Lewa hiss “Wairuha!”- “-Wairuha, the Master of Wisdom! It is my destiny to battle evil!” It couldn’t go on like this, surely it couldn’t. He was going to have to take Takua home and apologize that the Toa couldn’t do anything better, try to assure his son that this was no reason to lose faith in their destined heroes. (He might have to spend some time convincing himself of that fact, frankly.) “Takua,” he began, and then his son bounded off towards the towering Toa. Tahu looked down as he skidded to a stop. “Well, if it isn’t Takua. Was it you who summoned us, little one?” “Yes!” the villager managed, his voice little more than a squeak. “Well, have no fear. As long as we are here – be it together or separate – we will protect this island.” Takua nodded vigorously; Vakama could practically see the next three months of pre-bedtime chatter forming in his head. “So, so, then, um-“ Out of the corner of his eye Vakama saw Lewa squeeze Kopaka’s foot; the Toa of Ice started as Gali took a step forward. “Indeed,” he bellowed. “My wisdom will guard you from the dangers Akamai’s brute strength cannot.” Takua turned to the other ‘Kaita’. “So – you’re the smart one, and he’s the strong one?” Vakama winced; at his side, Matau was doubled over in silent laughter. Kopaka looked at a loss for words for a moment, before managing, “No! No, my power is as great as any other’s.” “And I carry just as much wisdom as he!” Tahu shot back. (Beneath him, Onua and Pohatu exchanged a glance.) The villager looked from one tower to the other, his brow furrowed in thought. “So which of you would win if you fought?” The breath Vakama’d been taking went down wrong. After a few seconds of spluttering, he managed to call out, “Takua! You must not ask such –“ “Wisdom shall always triumph over brute force, of course,” Kopaka called out. “Ah, but what is wisdom without the strength to enforce it?” Tahu snapped back. Oh no. Vakama rushed forward and put his hands on his son’s shoulders. “O noble Toa, forgive my son – in his youth he knows only rashness –“ “Dad, the Toa were talking!” “That’s right, Vakama,” Matau said, his voice nothing but cheer. “We must respect the words of our Toa, must we not?” That flower-sniffing, vine-eating son of a Gukko, Vakama thought and didn’t say. Instead he forced a smile and patted Takua on the shoulders again. “My apologies, o wise Toa. If you have some lessons you would pass on to us, we would be honored to hear it.” The fact that all of them save Tahu and Kopaka were now trying very hard not to grin wasn’t helping matters, it really wasn’t. “Well, brother,” Kopaka said, “if you are so certain of the value of strength over wisdom, surely you can show that for Takua here?” Tahu’s eyes narrowed behind his mask. “Why, brother, do you challenge me?” Oh no oh no oh no. “Exalted Toa, I ask you not show my child your ways of war-“ “Why not?” Takua asked. Tahu stamped down on Pohatu’s hand, and the three awkwardly rearranged themselves. The Toa of Fire brought up his weapon – or, more accurately, a five-minute attempt at attaching his weapon to Pohatu’s held together by what looked like vine and prayers. Takua gasped. “Dad, he has a fire jetarang!” At this point Vakama could do nothing but pray their destined heroes weren’t actually as stupid as they looked. Forcing a smile, he clutched Takua’s shoulder and tried to move them back without seeming too obvious. “Yes – yes, he does. Very impressive!” Kopaka reached for his own weapon; his hand closed around air once, and then he managed to lift an unholy amalgamation of harpoon, axe, and – ski? He glanced down; Takua looked as though Ekimu had returned to life and bestowed upon him a thousand golden masks, plus a basket of sweet-fruits. Tahu pointed his ‘fire-jetarang’ towards the other Toa and roared. On cue, Onua began to trundle across the clearing, the ground shaking beneath the weight of the three Toa as he picked up speed. Kopaka raised his harpaxski thing high in the air, charging it with energy. Beneath him, Gali braced herself against the ground, and Lewa tightened his grip on the Ice Toa’s feet. With a shout, ‘Akamai’ brought the weapon down as they reached ‘Wairuha’. There was a crash, a smash, a flash. When the light had cleared, there was a dusting of ice all around, and the six Toa were picking themselves up off the stone. Kopaka was doing his best to hide the vines still loosely wrapped around his feet beneath a suspiciously large patch of snow, while Pohatu stubbornly tried to bend his boomerang back into shape; Lewa and Gali had pulled apart their weapons, and Onua simply seemed to be standing around until Vakama realized the Toa of Earth was blocking Takua from seeing the rest of the Toa. Tahu returned his sword to his back and gestured to Matau; Vakama looked over just in time to see the other Protector drag that absurd cloak out of sight. Takua was hugging his waist, and Vakama looked down to see his eyes unfocused and his mouth hanging open in awe. The elder cleared his throat. “Takua, say thank you to the Toa.” Takua blinked twice. “Where did the Kaita go?” There was a moment of confused glances before Gali caught on. “Akamai and Wairuha have returned to the legends, Takua, until such time as they are needed again.” “But what happened? Which of them was stronger?” “Each had his own strengths, little one,” Onua said. “Only by combining them could they awaken to their true power. And there was nothing to be gained from setting them against each other.” Takua’s face fell. “But – they’ll come back some day, won’t they?” Tahu looked up to Vakama and raised a brow. He smiled back and raised a hand; it was time to go full storyteller. “Listen well, my son. The Kaita are not symbols of power, but of unity. As long as our Toa have faith in each other, they shall always live on within them. When times are darkest, and all hope seems lost, Akamai and Wairuha will return, if not in body then in spirit. That is my promise to you, for that is what the legends have foretold since the dawn of time.” Takua looked from Toa to Toa, his eyes still wide. Vakama lowered his hand and patted his son on the head. “Now, then. It’s getting late. Tell the Toa thank you.” Takua started. “Thank you, Master Tahu, thank you, Master Gali, thank you, Master Lewa” – at this point, Kopaka started to roll his eyes; Pohatu jabbed him in the side – “thank you, Master Kopaka, thank you, Master Pohatu, thank you, Master Onua!” Tahu smiled and nodded to the villager. “Any time, my friend.” “Then, tomorrow too?” The Toa of Fire’s eyes went wide, but before he could respond Vakama clamped a hand down on his son’s shoulders. “It’s time to go home, Takua.” Gali sighed in contentment as the Protector and his son vanished around a corner. “Vakama is right – Takua has a good heart. One day he will be as benevolent a leader as his father.” “Indeed,” Kopaka grumbled. “If he stops asking his Toa to beat each other up, that is.” “Which of us was it that couldn’t take being called weak, brother?” Tahu responded. Pohatu sighed. “Look, all you two had to do was follow the script-“ “-It was difficult enough staying balanced on Lewa, thank you –“ “-And Pohatu, wasn’t it you who said we should do a mock fight anyway?-“ And the four Toa went, bickering, into the night. Lewa, Onua, and Matau shared a glance, and then a grin. “Well,” Matau said, “I suppose that leaves the two of you with cleanup duty. Come on, let’s get all these props back to the jungle.” Onua nodded and went to work scooping up the various bindings that had fallen about; Lewa plucked the cloak from its hiding place. For a few seconds he looked at it. “Something the matter, brother?” Onua called. “Oh, no.” He grinned. “I was just thinking how with a little more prep time, we could really do something here.” The Toa of Earth shook his head and clapped his brother on the shoulder. “Save your theatrical aspirations for after the island is saved, Lewa.” “He gets plenty of chances to be theatrical, Toa Onua, believe me-“ “-Says the Protector who tried vine-swinging across half the island-“ And then, save for the two smiling spirits that watched their Toa go, the clearing was empty once more. --------------------------------- Author's note, part 2: hopefully this goes a little ways towards easing the pain I inflicted on y'all a year and a half ago, eh? Also, no, I don't really think the Protector is literally G2 Vakama or the little Protector is literally G2 Takua. But they make for convenient names.
  11. So I've been looking for over a week to an answer this question, but I can't find it anywhere. In BZP's review of the new Tahu, there was a photo of 6 Haus, 3 of which are transparent. http://www.bzpower.com/galimage.php?galimage=/Imaging/stories/70787_Tahu_Master_of_Fire_Review_23.jpg Where did these red transparent masks come from? And how could I get one for myself ?
  12. Look, Bionicle for 2015 has some "Questionable" differences from gen 1 so lets all come together not to hate but to look at some of the new things and pet peeves we may have on the new gen of Bionicle good or bad. Good: Mask designs Bad: Mask names (Seriously Lego, Mask of jungle? I thought it was Miru!)
  13. As a pure genwunner who is against this idea of a 100% reboot, obviously I yearn for more Gen 1 elements in Gen 2 Bionicle. But what's to say it won't happen? LEGO stated in their meeting in BZPower's video that they wanted to dumb down the names so younger fans can more easily understand, meaning species like Matoran, Skakdi, Vortixx and Skrall are no more. But there are a few elements of Gen 1 that can still work despite this: Dark Hunters The ultimate example of Gen 1 elements that can transition seamlessly into Gen 2 are the Dark Hunters. The name "Dark Hunters" is perfect for the new naming system used in Gen 2 Bionicle, the name "The Shadowed One" is both mysterious and fitting for Gen 2, and nearly all Dark Hunters have English code names (though there's no way we'll see Gen 1 characters that don't, such as Triglax and Lariska). When I was hoping for a continuation, I argued that The Shadowed One would be the perfect new main villain because of his hidden name, and his organisation, and I can see both returning in Gen 2 Bionicle as alternate villains. Bionicle has had alternate villains before and lasted 9 years doing so (Dark Hunters, Barraki, Skrall), and other successful franchises had multiple main villains (eg. Batman had the Joker and the Riddler, and Spiderman had Goblin and Doc Oc), so why not do it again now? Great Beings The Great Beings could be deities or demigods (or even Gods) in Gen 2 Bionicle. In fact I feel Ekimu and Makuta could be Great Beings. Okay, so Gen 1 Great Beings can't wear masks, but what's stopping Gen 2 Great Beings (if they exist) from being able to do so? Remember, this is a reboot, so LEGO can easily redesign the Great Beings as they see fit. Great Spirits Again with the idea of redesigning past elements, Gen 2 Bionicle could have Gods known as Great Spirits who could be worshipped as Mata Nui was (and be actual spirits rather than 40,000,000' tall robots).
