  1. Few legends told on Okoto have prompted as many young and brash adventurers into scouring the island in the face of danger as the Legend of Eora. Generations before the time of Ekimu, another Mask Maker worked the great forge, whose daughter was known across the island for her beauty. The already overprotective father was driven to madness by the never-ending flow of suitors, leading him to forge a mask for Eora which would send her into a deep sleep while preserving her life and youth. He hid her away and a secret cavern, and decreed that any suitor can prove their worth by finding her and waking her up.Unfortunately, the father was too cautious, and Eora wasn't found within his lifetime, or even since. Legend has it she's still sleeping somewhere on Okoto, waiting for an adventurer to awaken her... --- This MOC is less about the build, which is your standard Protector, and more about colors and posing. I also toyed around a tad with editing to get some decent effects. More pics: https://flic.kr/s/aHsksLswYa
  2. I wanted to do something in colour again. Only a small portrait, done while travelling to uni/between lectures. Another protector (of the green? of air? I should catch up with the current lore, I guess.), this time with more of an organic-being-in-armour-approach. I figured the masks might as well be fancy ceremonial visors/helmet attachments. There are some irregularities because once again, no pre-sketching. :]
  3. I always found it strange that no Okotoan villager corpses rose from the dead in the city of the mask makers, so I decided to rectify that. While intelligence never was a characteristic of the Skull army, their members were more or less coordinated and had some grasp of tactics. Not the Skull Flayers, however. Erratic and completely unpredictable, the Flayers made up for their small, frail stature with lightning speed and a ferocity that would make even a Skull Scorpio tremble in fear - provided they even feel fear, that is. This is a small, not too elaborate or ornate build, but then it isn't supposed to be. I tried to replicate the asymmetrical armor design seen on Skull Warrior and Skull Slicer. I half built this for the reason of testing out how those weapons in that config actually look like on a model. I also tried to replicate the shape of the protector mask with the black horns sticking out backwards. The back-armor is supposed to give Flayer a hunched back. The butt-gear serves no purpose other than aesthetic. album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskAt7jR6 The photos were once again shot by my wife.
  4. So In an earlier topic of mine I had made a model similar to Makutas mask maker form, and with a new year of Bionicle I decided to not only upgrade him but also build a counterpart to him resembling Ekimu. I also built a bigger version of my protector of control while looking at Umarak the destroyers build. Protector of Creation: Gallery Link I was on the fence about posting this one, his build is very similar to the protector of earths. However his colour scheme looks incredible under the sun. I wish smaller gold feet were available but I was not going to settle for silver ones. I do like the multitude of weapons I gave him. Protector of Control: Gallery Link An upgrade of my earlier Protector of Skull Spiders build, pretty much the same but I've changed the torso and legs. His neck and back arms now have more articulation and I've added spikes to his legs and torso to resemble a mouth. It's harder to hide his back arms and skull spider though. Demon of Control: Gallery Link He's meant to look like an enlarged version of my protector of control, he might still need some work though. Was fun taking a look at building Umarak the Destroyers legs though.
  5. Lewa, the Arrow of Jungle (combination build of Master of Jungle/Protector of Jungle). When a skull spider attacks and poisons Vizuna, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to help Lewa in his quest. Video Remove the shoulder armor from Lewa and move the friction extenders from the hips to the shoulders. This helps compensate for the large weight of the bow. Everything else should be clear from the pictures; the bow shape can be changed and there are a few pieces left over to customize further. A few connections are a bit flimsy due to the limited parts, especially near the bow-cannon. Action feature still works, though isn't of much use, stud shooter works as well. --- I will be making a similar combination for all of the 2015 sets and then I will be moving on to do combination builds for all 4 of the 2015/2016 sets. I want to follow a set theme for each of the Toa to make sense canon wise. The bow for Lewa is an extension of the bow that the Protector of Jungle gives Lewa as part of their official combination.
  6. Flickr | DeviantArt Back in August I doodled a quick sketch of Korgot, Protector of Earth while at family camp in West Virginia. Once I got back home I decided to redraw it with the actual set on hand for reference, and a couple days ago (after fixing some errors I saw with the proportions of her shoulder armor) I finally finished inking it. I tried to adhere to the same style as my previous drawing of Gali, Master of Water The Protector of Earth set is John Ho's design, but Ryder Windham, the author of the chapter book "Island of Lost Masks", helped popularize the character by deciding that the current Protector of Earth, Korgot, should be female. I tried to reflect that in this drawing without deviating from the set's distinctive muscular proportions. I think it's very cool that Bionicle characters' gender is no longer strictly tied to their element like it was in the theme's first generation, that one of the most powerful-looking Protectors is a woman, and that a character as strong and wise as Onua, Master of Earth, has a female mentor.
  7. Hello there! Well, It has been a while since I last drew some Bionicle... Then one day I got the Idea.... ......KORGOT! Full body, colored sketch on paper of my alternative storyline's Korgot, protectress of Earth. Her humanized face is still the same as the doodle I did a while ago... the exterior armor is a bit changed, with some parts left unaltered (like the drill bomber and the shoulder armor). Dual machineguns and mask got revised, as well as the bottom clothing and grotesque boots. I just wanted her to be a little bit.... dirtier. I mean, guns, body-in-suit truly exposed.... everything. Also, I got the Idea while listening to "Grendel - Dirty"! Grendel (not the beowulf monster, the artist) has become another of my favorite electro-aggrotech artists, and his cyber-goth songs fit pretty well in the cyberpunk-dark-dystopian atmosphere of Bionicle:Reborn.... Just check out "New flesh" and "Harsh generation"! They're both sick! Well, even if it's just a sketch.... enjOI! :3 Original: DeviantArt
  8. A mask I made for a commission today. Its a modified Protector mask with a scope! Hope you like it! https://www.shapeways.com/product/DBQHFFV6F/protector-mask-with-scope?key=8f614f2a6cf79df3025c28ab43a31c85
  9. A lot happens to the BIONICLE world when you take a break for a bit...the protectors have names, and now, for practically the first time ever, boys and girls are crossing tribal boundaries- apparently, Korgot the Earth Protector is a Woman! And Kivoda, the Water Protector, is a Man! The first time ever really that Bionicle has broken it's longstanding unwritten rule that blue people are girls, and no one else is, in a big way. Sure, there have been exceptions from time to time, but it's been the default for nearly all of Bionicle's original run. Honestly, given the simplified approach they seemed to be taking with B'15, this move surprised me. What do you think the implications are of this move? Do you think we will see more womanly characters in unseen roles, such as fire-element heroes, or will we see more of what was done in the Glatorian Era- namely, just making more characters male? What sort of characters would you hope to see now that the old rules are done away with?
  10. Combiner of the Protectors of Jungle, Ice and Water. Skull Spiders not included. Might make instructions later.
  11. Hi guys, I managed to make a decent looking combo model of the six Protector sets. This model does not use the Skull Spiders or the extra studs. Feel free to comment with CC, but keep in mind that I had a very limited amount of parts to work with. More images here. Instructions here. EDIT: resized image to fit guidelines.
  12. I don't come here often, so maybe I missed something: I checked out biosector01, and apparently the protectors got names! When did this happen? Who named them? Was it a fanonized thing?
  13. These are designs I did for a challenge from the Bionicle Art Squad in which we design our own protector. The first is a protector inspired by samurai where I originally had them as perhaps a protector that existed before Narmoto although the skull spider shoulder armor now breaks that continuity and the second one is a Korgot redesign, emphasizing the gun chest feature by...adding more guns (still needs more guns) and is heavily inspired by Gundam Heavyarms.
  14. So I always wanted t build a Protector themed off of the golden Skull Spider mask, I think I did pretty well. Front Action pose Behind the cloak I also wanted to implement a way for him to hide his more ominous features, so I came up with this disguise idea where his arms fold up and the masks change. Definitely not a monster Action pose again Everything's hidden on the back I also found his back useful for holding studs. Gallery It's a much more simple build that what I usually go for, but I didn't really see anything more to add to this model without overcomplicating it.
  15. Good day, it has been a long time since my last MoC, but here it is!! I present a remake of my protector of Ice: the Yeti that I posted a few months back. Yeti was the first in this series; and once I had gone through other MoCs, I found his quality to be sorely lacking. His story is linked to the other protector mods. You can check out their links in my Sig. Gamut This series is dedicated to the previous protectors, those who looked forward to the Toa, but never saw the prophecy fulfilled. Those who fought the desperate struggle against evil in the Toa's stead. Protector of Ice - The Yeti's Background story The frigid plains of Okoto are both a haven and a deathtrap. It holds the lowest concentration of skull spiders, but if the spiders don't kill you, the environment will happily take up the torch. Due to this, the denizens of that era took to living deep under the snow, where they found protection against the cold, wild beasts, and spiders alike. This made yeti the most well-traveled of the six, as he could often leave his village knowing that his brethren are relatively safe. He was primarily a frontline fighter, possessing almost no ranged options save his launcher which he modified to function as a shotgun. Build I have been playing quite a bit of bloodborne lately, and I was fascinated by the transforming weapons, especially Gherman's sword/Sycthe. Therefore to pay homage, Yeti has two forms. The first is what he struts around with, and the second is his "emergency" measure. Let me know what y'all think. Should I keep to extremely short backstories, or move back to the long ones that I wrote for Jungle, Earth, and Stone? 17. I recently re-watched the 'Prophecy of Heroes' online animation and noticed the line at 01:08 - "United, the elements hold the power to defeat evil. United, but not one." It puts emphasis on the fact that, although the elements are working together, there's a next step in their unification...personally, I think this may allude to a possible future Toa Nui with all the Toa becoming one all-powerful being (possibly linking to the MoUP). What do you think? Do think this suggests a future plot point, or do you think that this has no meaning towards the story at all? (this might have been asked before, in which case kindly close the topic )
  18. After purchasing Lewa yesterday and using a lot of his pieces for a different MOC, I decided to use what pieces I had left (along with various others in my collection) to make the little guy I felt had to be made: ~~~ [Full] Personally I think the Mask of Jungle works a lot better for Matau than it does for Lewa. But that's just my opinion. [side] That ball joint is supposed to have a "hand" piece attached, but for some reason it's not there. [back] Not a huge fan of the big, clunky feet, but they're the smallest things I have in Keetorange. [uh-oh] Look out, Matau! [“Greetings, Lewa. We have been waiting for you.”] A recreation of a classic moment. ~~~ Questions? Comments. Complaints! What do you think?
  19. So, the other day, my brother and I bought Kopaka, Pohatu, and the PoE, and this broght up a thought I'd had upon first seeing the new figures. Now, notice the coloration of some of the sets. We see the characters of Ice and Water having trans-blue limbs, the Stone characters having trans-lime, and the Protector of Fire having trans-red hands. Now, some of you may remember a theory back in the Glatorian Era which suggested that the Spherus Magna inhabitants had skin colors that matched that of their heads (these were not Tribe-specific, as we saw Perditus having a green head despite being Fire, and Vastus not matching Tarduk or Gresh). So, what if that is how it works in the new line? The transparent bones could be representative of their skin underneath the armor, if they are, indeed, mostly organic. This means that if Kopaka removed all his armor, he'd be almost entirely blue, Pohatu would be lime green, and Onua would be purple. EDIT: I have a new addition to this theory! With the revealing of the summer sets, we see many more transparent bone pieces as well as what appears to be actual bones. These figures, based on the animation, seem to be undead--reanimated corpses of the inhabitants of this world. The key part here is the bones--the new parts that actually look like they might be part of a human skeleton. This seems very indicative of an organic structure that has rotted away over time. They also have some transparent bone pieces, which could very well be bits of decaying flesh still hanging on as the corpse rots (or flesh growing back as the being returns to life). Thoughts? Theories? Theatrics? (I realize this is based around the sets, and so could belong in BD, but since it deals more with representing the in-story characters, I feel it should be welcome here.)
  20. The Stone Protector Leader and the Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Hello all! May I share with you my latest Bionicle based MOC. I have wanted to build a huge CCBS dragon for a long while, but never really got around to it until recently, when I looked at my large pile of unused craft faux leather and thinking that they'd make good dragon wings on a LEGO model. So this is what resulted! You might notice that I did take Bullion, the steed from my BFTGM entry, and used him as a base for what I am calling "The Okoto Dragon" (yes, very unoriginal name I know!) The Stone Protector Leader by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr First of all, a look at the Stone Protector Leader, which I built while building the dragon, and acts as a steed to the giant Rahi. Credit to Rayskull on Eurobricks for the alternate build used in this little guy's construction. The Stone Protector Leader and the Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr That's it for now. Positive and constructive comments appreciated, as long as you don't mention the keetorange (I didn't have much choice there, I wanted to use the flame pieces above the eyes, and kind of had to include more elements of the colour in the build, since until Skull Grinder comes along, they only come in keetorange). Also, please ignore the pole reverser handles on the wings, I forgot to replace them with bushings until halfway through the photoshoot. Any other odd colours present is likely because I run out of the colour I wanted to use
  21. So, after creating Falyx, I decided to create more Protector OC's! Without further ado, here they are! Each one has their own shoulder build, though not all are unique. Their main weapons mirror the Gen 2 Toa's weapons, though they aren't exactly the same in all cases. I also managed to use all of the 7 extra studs you get with the Protectors on each one. After that, however, the similarities pretty much end. All that being said, I apologize for the lackluster set up. Lighting might be pretty bad, pictures might be pretty bad, everything might be pretty bad actually. Group Shot (sorry for quality) {Falyx} A quiet, happy soul, Falyx often spends his time exploring the Region of Earth. He always finds a bright side, he always tells a bad joke or pun on purpose, and he protects his friends until the end. In battle, he prefers wielding his trusty Star WarHammer, but he has been known to wield his Spiked Ball-and-Chain. When needed, he will man one of the many Earth Turrets scattered in the central part of the region to fend off large groups of attackers. Make no mistake; though his joyful demeanor paints him as a happy-go-lucky individual, he can be completely ruthless in battle and will stop at nothing to protect those who need it. Not much is different from him from my last topic, except I updated his back to have a bit of armor (as well as to cover it up). He is probably my new Self-MoC for Gen2. I wish I could've made a different shoulder arrangement for him, but the Protector of Earth's shoulders just fit too well with him. Front Side Back Alternate Weapon Earth Turret Earth Turret Front Earth Turret Side Earth Turret Manned Crosshairs {Chath} Quiet, reserved, and generally alone, Chath finds company distracting. Though he can operate in a team, he prefers solitude, and often seems terrified of large gatherings. He tries to avoid other people, but when found in situations where it's unavoidable, he takes immense care of those with him and overreacts to any negative occurrence, as if trying to prevent something from the past from happening again. He generally fights with his Frost-Tipped Halberd, but he's also been known to use an Ice Buzz-Shield and a Blizzard WarBlade in its stead. He rides on a Rocket-Powered Sled to traverse the treacherous Region of Ice, and rumor has it he has a pet, though no one can confirm this. I kinda felt bad for making a completely new Self-MoC, so I felt that Chath deserved a Gen2 reboot. His character is barely altered, though I am making him much more quiet. As for his actual physical build, I'm not too happy with it. He just has a remade Protector of Fire build and extended limbs, and I'm not too happy with the silver 4-length shells on his torso, but otherwise he's fair enough. Front Side Back Weapon Detail Alternate Weapon Rocket-Powered Sled Rocket-Powered Sled Front Rocket-Powered Sled Side Rocket-Powered Sled Back Rocket-Powered Sled Manned P-RS M Front {Avaemer} Avaemer is skittish. Paranoid, even. Though he means well, he's always terrified that a fight is nearby, and therefore always wears lots of extra armour. He tinkers with weapons and machinery constantly, trying to make the best offensive creations he can. He is accustomed to never going anywhere alone, because "you never know when you might need backup". Though high-strung, he is an incredible fighter and can hold more than his own in a fight. He generally wields two basic Flare Blades or his Double Slicer, a weapon of his own invention. If ever alone, he rides out on his Jet Rod to add to his fire power. I wanted Avaemer's character to deviate from the "easy to enrage" and "always ready for a fight" fire characters, so I instead made him constantly over-prepared. He reminds me of a veteran back from battle, someone who knows the fight's over but he can't escape his instincts. MoC-wise, he's the first OC to have a custom shoulder set up. My only wish is that I could've used less gold, but I could only use what I had. I also used the... bone extender pieces to bulk up his forearms a bit, just looked nice to me. Front Side Back Alternate Weapon Jet Rod Jet Rod Front Jet Rod Side Jet Rod Manned JRM Front JRM Side {Staida} Staida is young and reckless. She doesn't mean to be, but she's known for getting herself into trouble. She's more than capable of getting herself out of it, but it's reached the point where the Protector of Water tries to keep her within the village when she can, though Staida always finds her way out. She makes mistakes, but takes the full blame for them, and always finds a way to right her wrongs, to whatever extent. In battle, she carries her Curved Water Spear, or more rarely her two Serrated ArmBlades. She can often be seen sailing on her Fishing Boat, though she's added a small canon to the bow of the ship. Not much to say on Staida's character, really just reminds me of Takua and Macku. Build-wise, I gave her a slightly thinner custom shoulder set, and just added some blue shells of varying sizes. I'm really glad of how her colours turned out. I also really like her boat. Front Side Back Alternate Weapons Fishing Boat Fishing Boat Front Fishing Boat Side Fishing Boat Angle Fishing Boat Manned FBM Detail 1 FBM Detail 2 {Henso} Henso is not someone you want on your bad side. She deeply cares for all life, but once you endanger something she will attack you without mercy. She swings and glides throughout the Region of Jungle stopping villagers of all kinds from hurting the wildlife. Even in instances when villagers are attacked without provoking the attacker, she will often scold the villager to be more careful. She swings into battle with Wind-Bred Axe or with her Chain Whip, and soars through the air on her Jungle Glider, armed with an aerial gun. I've always felt that a Air or Plantlife Toa would not be the kind of person you'd want to get into a fight with, mainly because those two elements are so deeply tied with nature that they have a lot to protect. So, I made Henso the living embodiment of Wildlife Protection. She knows how to tame any beast and how to attack anyone. Her construction wasn't all that difficult, either. She has her own shoulder construction, and other than a bit of work getting some printing off of the dark green 5-length armor shell on her torso and finding some lime green shells, she was a relative breeze. Front Side Back Alternate Weapon Jungle Glider Jungle Glider Top Jungle Glider Bottom Jungle Glider Manned JGM Front JGM Bottom {Peska} Peska is seemingly always upset. She hates the desert, she hates the sand, and she hates the heat. Any chance she gets to travel, she takes, just so she doesn't have to deal with all the blasted sand. When out of her element, she's actually very happy to be around and playful. She and Falyx get along swimmingly, telling jokes to each other, but once she's back in the Region of Stone that all changes. She really hates the sand. The only good thing about her Region are all the large stones that protrude out of the desert, creating amazing plateaus and deep ravines, but even those tend to have their fair share of sand. She carries two Sharpened Boomerangs into battle, or her two Energized Shortswords once those are gone. To get around, she uses her Sand Drifter, kicking up a condensed sandstorm wherever she goes. I've always kinda wondered what would happen if a Toa or Matoran wasn't a huge fan of their element, and that bled into Peska's character. I wanted her to be a lot like the original Pohatu, but only under certain conditions. Her construction, however, was probably the hardest. She had the most alterations, at least. Her back and shoulders, while custom, aren't my favourite thing in the world, and I wish I didn't have to use any of the gold, but I was itching for pieces. Fully realized, however, I think she pulls it all off. 22. click the thumbnail or follow this link to view the full drawing I love the protectors' designs, so I decided to play around with things a bit. Adding some clothing seemed like a good idea and IMO looks quite cute, too. This has been the first proper drawing in days, thus the shield is extra-wonky. D: Apart from that I'm quite happy with the outcome, though. Originally there was also a loosely skteched background, but since the scanner didn't really pick that up it was mostly cropped out. Edit: since brickshelf is currently gone too (?) I have replaced the links; everything should work again.
  23. As per the norm, human style. So essentially, I realized after two months of seeing the Earth Protector, I realized he has a gatling gun/mini gun for a TORSO. That sounds amazing! Like, the guy is a total beast with something like that. So, couldn't help but draw this, where the Earth Protector begins to fend off the spiders while Onua claims his mask, shocked at the unbelievable ((but amazingly awesome)) reveal of the Protector's machine gun chest. The joke itself is a Reference to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, as a popular meme from it is "GERMAN SCIENCE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!", and how a character in the show, Strohiem, is rebuilt as a cyborg and obtains a machine gun for a torso and fires it at the main villain.

Vahi, the Protector of Time, who used to guard the legendary Mask of Time found a suit of armor from a past time which granted him immense power. He dubbed it, "Tengen Toppa Goruden Toa" which means "Heaven-Piercing Golden Warrior" in the ancient Okotese language. He has since left the Mask of Time in the hands of other Protectors and left Okoto to pierce his fate and save a universe trapped in an endless cycle of violence. His last words to the Protector of Fire, who questioned his decision were, "Of course I must leave! Who the Karzahni do you think I am? Mine are the spear, flamethrower and blaster that will pierce the heavens and fined the mythical being Mata Nui. Farewell, brother. Do not believe in the Vahi that believes in you, or the you that believes in Vahi, but the you that believes in you." After that, the other Protectors never saw Vahi again, though they can sometimes hear the sound his finishing move, Giga Spear Slash.
  25. I bought a couple more Protector sets to built some MOCs. I think for my next project, I'm going to make a bunch of "B-list" Protector characters with unique designs (possibly including unique helmets as well). The goal is to have at least one character per village, though I might make extras if I have ideas for characters/generics. I already have one, so I need five more. So, without further ado, let's meet the characters: Baby Fire Villager Ah yes, the character I am contractually obligated to make as a Protector MOCist. Nothing really to say here, just enjoy. Nyx is one of those deputy Protectors, though she mostly spends her time in the Obsidian Mines. Thanks to the ancient Protector rite of "I know a guy", the Protector of Earth was able to get her a job down there keeping the miners safe from the creatures beneath the earth. The gig was a way for Nyx to hone her abilities and build character; As an added bonus, she's also made a few friends among the Miners' Guild. Nyx is a lot like her father in the sense that she's a rough-and-tumble, outgoing sort with a love for certain drinks (traits that she also shares with her fellow miners). Her hobbies include tinkering with munitions and building slightly dodgy gadgets; when combined with her preferred choice of beverages, these hobbies lead to things like the modified Miner's pack/back-mounted ammo dump that she's taken to wearing lately. Like all miners, Nyx wears a Mask of Sonar as part of her job. Unlike her fellow miners, hers is a hand-me-down from her family that was crafted by Makuta. Nyx swears to this day that the mask is just as good as its Ekimu-made counterparts, which is part of the reason why she still wears it despite the Mask of Ultimate Power fiasco. The people of Water are fishermen, the Stone Tribesmen are craftsmen, and the Earth Tribe villagers are miners. Distinguished from their fellows by a specialized backpack and heavier armor, these particular villagers can be found deep underground, digging up obsidian and other minerals. The miners are a tough, rock-headed bunch, known for partying and indulging while off-duty. They tend to charge head-first into danger, which usually gets them into trouble (Especially nowadays with the Skull Spider invasion). Miners are required to wear Masks of Sonar while on the job (though Masks of Night Vision and similar masks can be used). His is an exciting life filled with adventure and danger...a lot of danger, based on the current state of his body. To say that he's seen better days is incredible understatement. Since Eckoh explores all of the time and has encountered quite a lot in the briny blue, he has a few tales of his own to tell. When he's not up to diving, he often hangs out at the local tavern, sharing his stories for all who listen. Among his tales, two are the most popular as of late: One tells of the Abyssal Ones, monstrous amalgamations of flesh and steel that lurk within the depths and feast on the souls of sailors unlucky enough to run across them; the other (and far more interesting, at least to the Protector of Water) tells of an underwater shrine, guarded by irate creatures, said to contain a golden Mask of Power within... He's far more prone to panicking now, which often leads to him making serious mistakes. As a courier, Celeris wears a Kanohi Kakama to make deliveries quicker. True, the people of Okoto's jungles are an eccentric people with their high reverence of nature and wide range of superstitions and rituals , but Najami takes it to a whole new level. For example, Jungle villagers like playing harmless pranks on outsiders for fun; Najami, meanwhile, sees such pranks as absolutely vital, as she believes that performing minor annoying/"evil" acts would allow one to avoid becoming "too" perfect and consequently reincarnating as an utterly evil being in their next life as a form of karmic backlash. Somehow. Despite her idiosyncrasies, Najami is well respected for the genuine good knowledge she possesses. Even the eccentricities seem to pay off for her at time, such as, say, predicting the exact time that Lewa and the other Toa would arrive(give or take a minute; she accidentally offered the Vuata Maca tree Verdelisk scales instead of Kahu down that day). Najami's Kanohi, the Calix, strengthens her reflexes and allows her to perform incredible physical feats. When she's feeling particularly mystical (or out of her gourd), she refers to the mask as "The Mask of Fate" since the acrobatic feats it grants her have allowed her to reverse her luck more than a few times.
