So I was thinking, and all of a sudden I got a bit nostalgic, cause I realized I kinda miss those peak BZP years when there were so many members online and everyone was complaining that the server was always too busy to handle our requests. Not to mention you could PM Greg 24/7 and take part in stuff that actually made a difference to BIONICLE. *sigh*Post yer thoughts then.
Some of you are probably aware of the Minecraft server that caters, in part, to BZP members. Most of you who are aware of that probably frequent the Minecraft topic in COT, and thus may be aware of the recent server crash. What you might not be fully aware of is the reason for this crash. A small group of players, led by Madufruit42 (The Invisible Noob) with some assistance from myself, MTMerrick (thoron) and a handful of others, were working on building a railway from Ga-Koro (not an exact reproduction of the Koro, mind - just a village based on it) to a planned train station that would connect Ga-Koro, Ta-Koro, and Ko-Koro. A moderator on that server - a non-BZP member - showed up, and began helping hollowing out the mountain for the train station. The problem has its roots in this - he decided, or so he told us, to use the World-Edit power-tools to hollow out the mountain faster, and warned us that this would cause some lag. We agreed to this, thinking that the lag would be moderate, and the net result would be beneficial. The server promptly crashed. A couple of hours later, the admin (Nav3taX) got the server back online, but with extreme lag. I happened to be in the right place to see what exactly had been done by the moderator "helping" with the railway. A giant ball of mushrooms had been placed in the air near the track. No hollowed-out mountain, just a great, pointless ball of mushrooms, which, being rather more difficult to render than, say, stone, lagged the server out and pretty much perma-broke it. The end result? The entire world had to be wiped, and a build-team is now being assembled to restore some sort of order. There are two possible explanations for why this happened - either the moderator was ignorant of the difficulties with rendering mushrooms, and was trying to be funny, or the goal was exactly what happened - the complete self-destruction of the server.
So, brickshelf and majhost's servers are down. Too bad I can't upload the comic I've totally finished and not at all procrastinated on. Seriously though, my apologies for the lack of updating of my comics. I have not had as much time this semester to do things I enjoy as I would like (we kinda hit the ground running). I do hope to inspired soon and start working on a comic. Another thing sort of slowing me down is that I'm getting used to using GIMP, which is quite different from Photoshop, which my new computer does not have. Thus, I have to make do. In other news, this semester I'm taking quantum mechanics version 2.0 and classical mechanics. In both classes (ironically) we're working with Lagrangian mechanics, as the classical Lagrangian (the difference of kinetic and potential energy of a system) is useful in deriving equations to describe systems in both the classical and quantum mechanical regimes. In fact, when one uses the Lagrangian as a way to formulate wavefunctions of quantum mechanics, Hamilton-Jacobi equation (a classical physics equation) pops out of the Schrödinger equation! It's as though physics is self-consistent or something...
This is the BZP clan of Terraria. IP: 127.0.0.1:7777World Name: BZP WorldServer Password: BzpterrariaSo yeah, this topic is where all of us BZP goers can talk about Terraria, and if we actually want to play then go to the BZP World and hang out and make slime soup!Rule Time!!!!1.No profanity, we want to keep it clean.2.No spam, because that is kinda dumb.3.When setting up play times, if you happen to no-show, please notify the person who you are playing with before hand you won't make it, if it's a group it doesn't really matter though.4. And lastly, have fun! Now, you can set up play times here with people on your own server, or the server listed above with me. Nothing has been done yet on the world so all of us can start from scratch, and no I won't play it solo and crash all your houses....maybe... But anyways, you can also talk just anything about Terraria also, like help on bosses or just tips or just discussing how amazing it is. So have at it.(One more thing, we will have a website up as soon as we can to better post events and discuss there as well as here.)
