A follow-up from Part 1, posted in BBC. Anyway, these are just some of the many things I've been cooking up over the last few weeks. Nothing overly special, but still fun to work on, nonetheless. (Fair warning--the gunner mech is the highlight of the first category, so just bear with me. ) Mechs--I started with the Gunner mech. I just wanted to build something that looked like a potential LEGO set, taking inspiration from many of the Exo-Force sets. The later two were modeled heavily after the Hulkbuster figure, using the same opening-hatch technique as the set. My brother and I have been big on Super Smash Bros 4 lately, so after building the gunner-style mech, he insisted that I model the next two after the the Mii Fighter classes (Gunner, Brawler, Swordfighter). Group Shot Gunner--I'm rather proud of this one. Of the three mechs, it is by far my favorite. Open hatch. Brawler--Again, modeled after the Hulkbuster, but taller, and without a lot of the flashy bits. Much more compact and flexible than the set. The minifig also sits higher, so their face isn't getting crushed by the machine. Open hatch Swordfighter--This one was specially requested by my brother. The hatch was designed more closely to the Hulkbuster's, but the legs and arms received the biggest upgrade. The trick was attaching the sword, but my brother said to just leave it simple (he doesn't like overly complex figures for some reason). Hatch down Back Mask Stands--Self explanatory. Group shot Fire Shrine--(special thanks to Kakaru for the trans-clear Mask ) I needed a way to display all three of Tahu's special masks, so I pulled out the parts-bag I'd gotten at BricksCascade, and threw this together. Something lava-y with rocks holding the masks. Nothing big, but showy all the same. Basic shrine--Now, this one is really simple, and I've seen others put up pictures of something like it. However, I'd never actually seen how they connected the mask, so I'm showing you how I did mine, just for the heck of it. Floating Pedestals--Not sure what inspired this, but I decided to just go with it. I prefer the Kraahkan one, honestly, but the Kakama works, too (has to--my favorite mask ). The KRaahkan one is supposed to be an upgraded version of the shrine dedicated to the Alt. Teridax character that supposedly died at the end of my first season. Back--No, they're not supposed to look good from back here. Thrones--After seeing the SDCC-exclusive Ultron's Throne, my cousin, Meyres the Anchorman, and I decided to try our hands at minifig-sized furniture. These were my attempts, while he eventually decided to go on a much larger scale. His throne will be featured in his comic series, The HUNA Report, at some point. Chitauri seated Empty Back Raven Legend Beast--I was disappointed that Razar and his Legend Beast companion didn't receive a set appearance, so I opted to make my own. Heavily modeled after the Eagle Legend, I did change up the head style a little, as I was having trouble with the beak. Back--retains a gap for the Minifig to stand Roc--One of my favorite mythical beasts. In the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, these creatures serve as mounts and companions to a group of elves. Rocs are generally a massive bird of prey, very dark in color. I kept the dark colors of Black, grey, and brown, but made the dominant color to be dark blue, as I had a bunch of those blue wing pieces available. It's a good deal larger than the Raven or Eagle Legend Beasts, and cannot seat a minifig (I might fix that, though. ). Front Back Wing connection--Unlike the Legend Beasts, all six wing/feathers are connected to a single hinge joint, allowing for the entire wing to flap, while allowing for the feathers to be positioned in different postures. His majestic head. Yay, you've made it! One more MOC! I promise. Sonic Screwdriver--Yes, that thing The Doctor uses. But this one's mine. Took a long time to finish this one. Lot of tweaking and switching out of parts. Yeah. Proud of it, though. In hand Tip There you have it! No more from me until I build new stuff. Comments? Criticism? Cake?
Just gonna show off a few recent MOCs that I've had lying around for the last few weeks. Figured I'd best post them sooner or later. Part 2 is here. (Fair warning--the first few aren't as great as I'd like, so just bear with me. ) CCBS Mata Nui--Had an extra '09 Ignika and some Keetorange HF parts, so I threw this guy together using a custom gearbox design (Seen on my earlier Geared Soldier) Pic 1, Pic 2 CHI General Scorm--self-explanatory. No, I don't like his forehead, either. Can't figure out what to do with it. Pic 1, Pic 2 Steel Lizard--This one's one of my favorites. Though simple in design, I do like how it looks. Otherwise called "The Mask Guardian." This one might feature in a future comic, for those that follow my series. Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3 Bonesii--I had an extra Witch Doctor skull lying around. I had a ribcage design set up for something. Bonesii uses a skull as his avatar. I built a thing. This one featured in my most recent comic. Check it out, if you like. Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3 Demon Crew--These guys started with Bracket, the Slayer, and I decided he needed some friends. So, this motley crew was born. They may feature in their own comic series, epic, or video series in the future, alongside the Dark Squad. I got their names from the various part categories listed on Bricklink. Group shot Bracket--the original demon MOC. Bracket is a Slayer and the older brother of Panel. Bracket was always overshadowed by his younger brother, and so feels some contempt towards him. Nonetheless, he likes to assume responsibility for the both of them. Tap--Known as the Fire Sprite from my comics, this would be the only character to cross over if these guys ever get their own story. Tap is a Chaos Sprite, known for their carefully planned-out destruction. Panel--Known as "the golden-horned one," Panel is the leader of the demon crew. Panel is a Shadow, a type of demon that toys with its victims emotions. He's the younger brother of Bracket. Wedge--A Berserker demon. Nothing else is planned out for him yet. Unnamed electricity demon--incomplete. Posted only to be alongside the others. Dark Squad--An elite team of fighters specially equipped to deal with Demonic forces. Would feature alongside the Demon Crew in their own story. Like the former, their names were devised from the list of part categories on Bricklink. Group Shot Captain James Gear--leader of the group. Also known as the Geared Soldier. Darren Link--the team's technical genius. Matthias Liftarm--the brute strength on the team. ----- So, yeah. Nothing too special. Just something for you guys to look at. Part 2 is here, in case you missed the first link. Comments? Criticism? Cookies?
When I first started out on this site, I was a little 12-year-old dweeb who liked drawing and thought he was absolutely amazing at it. I also liked Bionicles, which (surprise, surprise) led me to this place. I found the General Art forum and I was sold. Despite being some pretentious kid, the community was always really supportive and kind - not only to me, but to everyone. That's why, even though I'm no longer active, I have always loved this forum. The constructive criticism and support I have received from the dudes and dudettes here really made me want to get better at drawing and be as friendly and awesome and clever and awesome and amazing as all of you people. Whether or not I have succeeded is another point entirely. However, I always feel really guilty for having left the way I did. All these great people who have influenced me in so many ways, and I just kinda faded into the background and stopped coming here. It feels wrong. I want you guys to know that although I've moved on to different things, you guys have always been on my mind. After some debate, I decided to turn this into an art dump. Not so much to show off what I've been up to, but to be able to (in some incredibly marginal way) give back to the community. And okay, maybe to show off a little. Just a little. With all my heart, I hope you enjoy. ayy lmao I'm not dead http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2014/227/d/0/entwined_by_chauvinistcabbage-d7v96jk.jpg http://th04.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2015/039/9/4/roger_waters_by_chauvinistcabbage-d8h5yzy.jpg http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/162/c/0/comatose_tranquility_by_chauvinistcabbage-d7lwml1.jpg http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/324/f/9/rock_is_eternal_by_chauvinistcabbage-d872o7c.jpg P.S: That got pretty emotional. Sorry if it's a bit sappy, but this place means a lot to me. P.P.S: the Kanohi Huna is still my icon of choice for every art forum. c:
