  1. Someone has probably done a poll similar to this before, but I'm doing it again because I don't remember it today. Also because polls are fun. Go vote!
  2. Hi everyone! Recently I've been having a recurring issue with a few of my posts in the Comedies forum. I've never seen this happen to me before and am not sure what is causing it or how to fix it (aside from resorting to double-posting, which is against the rules). What's happening is that my last few story chapters in one particular comedy are posting okay, but then a day or so later when I go back to look at the topic, they are both cut-off; they just end abruptly at a certain point (the same point in the chapters every time). I have edited the posts and added in the missing parts, only to again return to see them back to the cut-off versions. Strangely, though at first I thought it was a length issue, my similar-length chapters in both the same story and one of my other stories have been just fine. Has anyone else encountered an issue like this? Any help would be appreciated! Lewa0111 Nuva
  3. Back in the old days, the Short Stories forum used to be home to many songfics, which, for those who may not know, is the name for stories based on/inspired by certain songs, with the lyrics of those songs usually inserted in between the paragraphs of the story at certain points. An example would be if I wrote a story about 2006 with the lyrics from Move Along inserted between the story paragraphs (though the song doesn't actually have to be related to Bionicle to be used, obviously). Maybe my memory is clunky, but it seemed like songfics were all the rage back then. I didn't write any (always seemed like a silly concept to me, even if the songfic in question was very serious and well-written), but I always saw some in the Short Stories forum. At any given time, there were at least a few songfics among the regular fics, and they weren't just by new writers, either, but by some very good and very experienced writers (think Lady Kopaka may have written one, but not sure). As far as I know, there has not been a single new songfic posted on BZP within the last few years. None. Not even one. Nor have there been any reposts of older ones, to my knowledge.* So what happened to them? When did they disappear? Why did they suddenly lose their popularity? Why did BZP fanfic writers just stop writing (or at least posting) them? Were they just a fad? Were they too hard for most writers to do and so they just gave up doing them at all? It's not a huge thing to worry about. Certainly I don't spend all my free time obsessing over it. Still, the subject has been on my mind recently and I just thought I would blog about it here to see if anyone knows anything or has any idea about it. At least by blogging I can get this thought out of my head, anyway. *Note I said "as far as I know" and "to my knowledge." If there have been any new songfics posted recently or any old ones reposted, feel free to say so in the comments. -TNTOS-

  5. Many years ago on the planet Earth, a large ship crashed landed in what is now know as North America. The ship was split in two when it crashed. Leaving the engine and bridge and on the western side of North America, and the nose end on the eastern side of North America. Everyone on board where taken from the ship still in cryo-stasis, leaving the information of the past in the ship's mainframe. It is now the present, and a man is climbing the Rocky Mountains. He then sees a cave in the side of a mountain path, and decides to head in for warmth. Unbeknownst to anyone, he transforms to his Toa form upon entering the cave. Lights then turn on in side the cave, and he realizes that this is not a cave, but in fact the Mainframe of the ship. He reaches for a control panel and turns it on. He finds a file called, Archives, and unlocks the file. Then a voice is heard through the panel. "Accessing Archive Data." --- Well this is my library. I've been meaning to put one up since I'm lazy to update my sig with the new short stories I've made. Plus I need a place to remember which stories I've made, so I don't feel worried. Click's opening to his library inspired me to do that bit in the beginning. Stories without links are works in progress and not posted yet. Now I plan on updating this with ever new story I make. If I forgot to put one in, send me a message to put it in. Just do it nicely please. So without further a due, here it it. Epics: A Hero Rises (postponed) Set in the days before the Shattering, a Matoran will learn what it takes to be a hero, when a legendary mask falls from the sky and causes his fate to change. (I do plan on going o with this this summer) Superiornatural: The Epic (co-authoring) What happens when Bionicles live on Earth, and cryptids run amok? You call the number one cryptid fighting force, SuperiorNatural Inc. Run by Sybre, who is the CEO and leader of Impaler Squad, the best squad in the force. Behind them are a tie of Crimson Squad and Delta Squad. Bionicle: Republic Commando: (in progress) In the far future, the Bionicle race is at war, and Toa are cloned to make the ultimate fighting force for the Republic. This is the story of Delta Squad in the time of the Clone Wars. (This a parody of the game Star Wars: Republic Commando) Short Stories: Life Word Count: 835 Bionicles have lived on Earth for some time now, but some people do not like them, and want to kill them. This is the story of two Matoran disguised as humans trying to escape from that such planning. But one of them dies in the end. Based on CSI: NY season 9 finale. Entry for FFFC #4: Surrender or Run The Murder Word Count: 952 Deep in a forest in the Bota Magna sector, was a minor, yet gruesome battle. All the soldiers in this battle died, but the tale of one soldier was so extraordinary, that he was a hero. This is the battle in which it is called, The Murder. Entry for FFFC #4: Surrender or Run A Glimmer of Hope Word Count: 752 A caravan mission goes wrong, when the crew is ambushed. Everything seems to be that they will die, but a canister is found on the beach shore. A canister with a hero who will sacrifice his life for others. Entry for FFFC #5: A Canister Ashore Radioactive (Bionicle Remix) Word Count: 432 The song Radioactive by Imagine Dragons intrigued me, so I thought, why not make a remix based on Bionicle. The result is what you see. Half of it is just commentary. Entry for FFFC #7: Trial by Fire Trails of Fire What happens when a Matoran goes on an awful trial, that makes him almost die. Well this is just that. This was going to be my second entry for FFFC #7: Trial by Fire, but I finished after the dead line. Visions of the Past Lives series This is a short story series that has been postponed. I have no idea how many I was going to make, but it talks about some of the lives of some of the Characters that will be seen in Bionicle Chronicles. Shattered Past Word Count: 816 This is the tale of Flaredrick when he was a Matoran before he got into a terrible accident., where his life was changed forever. See how it all began. Entry for FFFC #3: Broken Mask OTC Epic(s): Fall of Rome In the year 2015, the government has collapsed. Riots and crime are on a rise, but then the one government that has had little power, comes in and takes full power. This is the United Nations, and they now govern every falling country to help revive it. But people are protesting about their power, and to stop this they order the guards one order: Shoot to kill. One hero will rise and kill this empire, to bring back a new era. A hero that contains the Conduit gene. OTC Short Stories: Dooms Day If you remember December 21 2012, you should remember the dream you had when you went to bed, and woke up the next morning all fine. This is basically what it is. The night of December 21 was the strangest, because of the terrifying things that happened to people. Such as Laser Beak attacking a postal worker, a purple tank, Metal Gear, and Killzone all in one. Some of the events in the dream where repeated, so I decided not to put it in there. A Rebirth of a Hero Word Count: 430 This is basically a spoiler to what will happen in Fall of Rome. In here, the protagonist, which is me, is dead. But then by some mysterious force, he is resurrected, and ready to take revenge for killing him. Entry to FFFC #6: Rebirth Queen of Dawn Word Count: 817 This the story of a beautiful queen, who is still not married. Until one day a noble man comes along from another land and marries her. Entry to FFFC #7: The Queens Texas Sunset Word Count: 735 This is what I may do today, June 10. It basically foreshadows my events of what I'll do today. Entry for FFFC #8: Sunset I plan on putting more later on. For now, have a look at what I have so far.
  6. The massive ruins of a once elaborate structure are silent save a soft, metallic skittering noise that echoes from broken buttresses and collapsed arched hallways. Thousands of years worth of dust gather on the once-polished floor. You look down into the cavern that was once the entry way and see row upon row of shelves filled to the brim with scrolls, books, and tablets. The floor writhes with a million purple carapaces of Scarabax Beetles rushing to and fro with new artifacts or replacing those taken out. A sudden click startles you to look back down the hallway, where a solitary beetle holds a piece of parchment in its mandibles, beckoning for you to reach down and pick it up. A booming voice sounds from below: "Well, pick it up, and read on!" --<>-- I've been writing a lot more lately, and plan to write even more over the summer break, so I figured I'd make a Library topic to start collecting all of that so I don't have to put all the links in my signature. And what better way to do it than Peach 00's little story introduction? I plan to format this a little better, but I'm going to bed right now, so I'll finish that all later. Stories without links are in progress and not posted yet. Warpath: Cold Justice About 870 words Set in an alternate universe, tensions are building between the Toa Mata, starting from the moment Kopaka nearly gets crushed by a careless Pohatu. My entry for FFFC #5: A Canister Ashore, as well as a concept I plan to flesh out a bit more in a series of epics. New Beginnings About 790 words These islanders live in a Karzahni, filled with constant attacks by the Makuta's experiments, and their Toa have already been lost, but new hope is awakened as a canister washes ashore. The Broken Series An eight-part short story saga I'm currently working on of six Toa who have braved some of life's hardest circumstances to come together to form...I'll tell you once I get it out. Seared ??? words Surek is a fresh Toa of Plasma with a mysterious past and terrible nightmares who is afraid of using his element for good. One day, a fiery Dark Hunter storms his village demanding their wise Turaga, giving Surek the choice of defending his village or let it get turned to ash. Shattered ??? words This is the story of Uitad, my BZPRPG character, in the Core Universe. When his life is threatened by a ruinous Rahi attack, the Matoran of his village have no choice but to take him to the most feared place in the Matoran Universe: Karzahni. More to come. Epics: The Builder Chapters: 3 (unfinished) One of my earlier Epics of a Toa who has been enslaved by the Bohrok Swarms and now lives to serve them, rebuilding their bodies and upgrading their abilities. He begins having dreams that may be more than that, memories from a past life, before the Swarms, and he begins to plot his resistance. I plan to rewrite this epic sometime during the summer. Good Company (title pending) Chapters: In Progress With the civilizations of the Matoran Universe and Bara Magna unified, the Toa Nuva see no point in them remaining, and go into stasis. Thousands of years pass, and the only surviving member, Takanuva, awakens to an apocalyptic world where the Makuta have come back to enslave the Matoran and Agori. They have only one hope: reuniting the Chronicler's Company from across Spherus Magna to combat the evil, as well as new threats bent on stopping them. Under the New Sky Chapters: In Progress Only a few years have past since reunification of Spherus Magna, and New Atero is rocked by race riots as Agori take to the streets to expel the "Biomechanical menace" from their homelands. Something drastic is needed to reunify the races, such as the leadership of Mata Nui himself, but the Kanohi Ignika has been dormant for too long. The only way of reawakening Mata Nui lies in his old body, and the only way to retrieve it is a joint venture by both Matoran and Agori. I hope you enjoy these stories and those to come. I'm really excited about my ideas for this summer and hope they turn out well!

  8. The Esoteric Athenaeum I'll be honest; I didn't write these stories because I wanted them to have an astounding number of views or the most comments - I wrote them because they were like caged shadows, longing to get out and play in the flickering firelight. Because by writing them, I set them free from those cages and get to watch their mesmerizing dance. But if only for the convenience of finding them easily myself, I suppose the Athenaeum was inevitable. Well, that's quite enough of the archaic ramblings. Without further introduction, my ensemble of literary seedlings.-SteelsheenDefinitions:Esoteric - understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interestAthenaeum - an institution for the promotion of literary or scientific learning; a library or reading roomEpics:Life is a Blank: a Story of Metru-NuiCruel Toa who serve the Great Spirit control the city, while the matoran are little more than slave labor. 10. The End of the LineA bleak view greets your eyes as you stare at the vast expanse of water which lays ahead. It sits quietly, tempting you to come closer, closer, closer until you’re lost in the darkness. Behind you is a simple stone road, carved out of the only remaining spit of land you could find, standing, unflinching, before the black sea in front of you.Slowly, you edge closer towards the water, your gaze fixed on the rippling, almost silken, surface, as you inch along. You creep further and further towards the edge, as if daring the darkness to come and take you, to drag you down into its cold, crushing depths. There, the final step, and you’re standing at the precipice, toes over the rocky cliff, in some kind of cruel taunt towards the waters below. For surely, you think “I have come this far with no trouble, what harm can come of me now?”And for a long moment, nothing happens. The tide comes and goes, lapping against the rocks like a warped monotone, and the dark sky above you have already begun to lighten, as the first rays of day begin to peek out from above the horizon. The scene is stunning, glorious in its stark beauty. You smile at the landscape you have stumbled upon, and turn to leave the way you came. That’s when everything changes. You hear a new sound from behind you, a noise which is all too familiar to you, but all too alien to this lonely place. It the sound of someone clearing their throat, in the signature way that one does when they want your attention. And so, without really thinking about it, you turn, muscles tensed for whatever it is that waits behind you.You see another being, standing on the edge of the cliff where you once did. He is short and stout, with a fine black cloak billowing out from behind him, and a heavy, double-headed axe in his right hand, hanging so that one tip has settled into the course dirt. That is all you can make of him. The rest of him is little more than a silhouette, a black hole in the universe, as if the artist painting the scenery was too lazy to finish. There is no glint of light on his armour. There is no sparkle of luminescence in his eyes. Just an all-encompassing blackness. On the ground, in-between you and this being, is a book. Thick, with yellowing, crinkled pages, and worn lettering across its leather-bound cover. You look back up to the strange, new being, in search of an answer, only for him to respond by motioning his left arm in the direction of the piece of literature. His intent for you is clear: He wants you to read. ~ ~ ~ EpicsIce Song: After a failure on his part leads to the deaths of two innocents, Toa Kopaka goes on a spiritual journey to redeem himself, and to discover the secrets to being a true warrior, with aid from the unlikeliest of beings.Status: INCOMPLETE/ON HIATUSL S O 2012 - Team Extempore: A joint project with xccj, Excelsior and Zaxvo, telling the tale of Toa Lewa and Kopaka, the only remaining Toa Nuva, as they try to solve the assassination of now-Prime Minister Onua, as well as stopping an evil force from destroying Spherus Magna.Status: INCOMPLETE/ON HIATUS*Dark Light: During Teridax’s reign over the universe, a mutated Takanuva from an alternate dimension is sent to stop the mad being by whatever means required, leading him through a world of shady mercenaries, mysterious cults and unlikely alliances.Status: INCOMPLETE/ON HIATUSShort StoriesParallels: Inspired by the Lord of the Rings, this is a tale of a forging of the Avokhii, and the prophecy that would come with the legendary mask. The Briefest of Wars: On the island of Artakha, a splinter group of Matoran encounter a mysterious being known as Tohu, who leads them to an unbelievable battle between creation and destruction, between good and evil.ComediesFlying Octopi, Grubby Villains and Guardsmen Basketballs: A spoof of the final battle between the Toa Mata and Makuta Teridax, where our villain finds himself in a rather... embarrassing social predicament.COT Short StoriesJulia’s Diner: A short flash fiction about two lonely people, linked only by having the same favourite diner.*Archived forums, selecting this will cause log-out.-Void
  11. As you look around the room, you see a dark being emerge from one of the chamber's shadowy corners, his appearance silhouetted by the lone candles upon the wall behind. His eyes glow a bright, piercing blue, the only shapes discernible against his shadowed form. The mysterious being begins to slowly descend a flight of stone stairs, but turns and beckons for you to follow with a wave of his hand before continuing. You follow.Torches on either side of the passage light your way, and in their amber illumination the being is thrown into relief; his armor glints of bronzed brown and silver, and two gleaming swords glisten upon his back. Upon reaching the bottom of the staircase, he stops, looks cautiously to both sides, and pulls out an ornate and ancient brass key from his cloth back-pack. He advances to a large wooden door, warped by time, at the far wall of the room, slowly pushes the key into the lock, and twists. An audible click is heard, and the heavy door swings open, revealing nothing but darkness. After taking a torch from its bracket, he beckons to you once again to follow with a silent motion of his hand. The portal opens into a massive octagonal room, with a tall, spired ceiling. The cathedral-like room is dark, its eight walls shrouded from view. The only source of visibility radiated from a gigantic iron chandelier, filled with candles, slung high from the roof's zenith. The mysterious being moves slowly to the side from the door, making his way toward a short stone wall set slightly inside of the outer wall. It is hollowed at the top, and this canyon is filled with a glistening liquid. As your guide sets the head of his torch to the fluid, and it catches flame, you realize that it is oil.As the spreading fire rockets around the chamber on its eight-sided trough, the walls are finally revealed to your gaze; they are lined with bookshelves, all filled with countless old and worn books. The shelves extend upward seemingly endlessly, a tall, sliding ladder the only form of access. The being with you observes the room's unveiling briefly, but doesn't hesitate. He strides over to a nearby shelf and plucks one of the elderly volumes from its home, handing it to you.Although he never said a word, the sparkle in his dark eye seemed to speak to you: Read. ~ :: Short Stories :: ~ The Tower :: [New! ~ COT] A quick view of the main character (Detective Calvin Duster) in a (series of) novel(s) I am planning, showing a bit of who he is and the values he has. Basically a while back a member who's name I forget, started a Writers Club for BZP. It was successful for a time, but started to fall in activity. Velox however, striving for a solid writing community, decided to recreate the club. He failed. But Velox wouldn't give up so easily, and this frontier tried again and again when others wouldn't, until The BZPower Author's Guild was started and after gaining support, became The Ambage. It is highly creative and organized well with fellow Authors, notably complemented by 55555's Write Off's Club. I'm a proud member, and if you're interested, join up! =DAmbage Achievements and Rank*coming soon*Libraries and AuthorsThis list will be constantly updated, as more and more writers I find on this site. 13. I'm hoping we can have a Library discussion topic, for anything concerning the Library Forum on BZP. If anyone has ideas they'd like to talk about, such as before writing, or while writing Short Stories or Epics (and Comedies though I'm not familiar with writing them myself), discuss here. Some start off questions I have:What ideas do you like to portray in your Bionicle Stories? A lot of my stories have to do with letting go of things and moving forward. Or probably redemption for things done in the past. I like to write those stories the best because there is so much room for character development, whether the character will learn their lesson and use it for good, or if they won't.What's your favorite genre to write about?Adventure with character examination throughout and a touch of mystery. :3Why do you post stories and when do you find time to read other entries? People have given better reasons below then I have, so I'll be taking their words to help explain it. Writing is satisfying whenever I'd like to get points and my own reasoning across. I enjoy writing these huge illustrations just to reach an ending that people can relate to in real life. (even if the entire tale is about robots that fight eachother in another giant robot)I try to find time to read other entries by friends on BZP, and even if I don't know the writer. Only differences is I know the authors I enjoy reading, have good stories to tell. For those I don't know, it can be a wild card, so that makes it a little difficult to get through, if it starts off slow or uninteresting.Do you enjoy Epics or Short Stories more and which do you enjoy writing for overall?I've written two Epics, one not finished and many Short Stories. My short stories tend to be very long, but I enjoy writing them over all. If you can write on that has so much emotion in it, over characters you'll probably never see again but wish to, you've done something write. And I enjoy epics, but it's hard for me to create a complete plot to cover it all and hold a reader's attention.Contest ideas for the Library? There have been some great Contest ideas down there, but that one on Co-Authoring sounds unique and interesting. The most difficult, the longest, shortest and easiest written and published stories you've done? Well, the most difficult story I've written was probably Moment of Fragile Courage. I redrafted it many times, and I just couldn't get the overall feeling of it write until it was published. Even after that, I changed the ending around. It got good feedback though, so I guess it was okay. The longest Short Story was probably Divided We Fall. And longest Epic was Second Chance (Co-Authoring).Shortest story was actually for a member created contest where you had to write a story under 600 words. That was tough to do, but it came out okay. It's called Sight.Easiest story I wrote was something that took me two months to write. But I wrote half of the story in one day, forgot about it, and when I found it later, wrote the second half in another day. So it took me a few hours to write overall. :B Return. Very easy, the plot and all the meaning was just something I could type up fast.Short Stories and Epics that are your favorites?Wow I have a lot, and I know I'm going to forget some...Anything by Peach 00, Aderia, Velox, Cederak, Sumiki and a few other people I've forgotten. ;-;Recently, I've very much enjoyed An Aftermath, Time and Tide, Redemption, Between Two Eternities, The Islander, Care, Perfectionist and To Fly. Before BZP went down I had a lot more. :/I've seen a large amount of Library discussion on the Blogs before, so discussions by the authors and readers on BZP shouldn't be too hard to muster up. =D

Other <> MILCOM Transcript N.293-7-840 This one's something I'm not very proud of: it was intended to be part of the Chronicles of the Siege, but I realized I've written it putting less effort than in my other works, thus it ended being rough, unfinished and messed up. I wanted to explore a different style of writing here, however I suppose I should have worked more on this one to actually call it "a decent story". Therefore, if you're going to read it, prepare to be disappointed by those words. I am. * story going to be told in Counterattack
  15. Welcome to the Sanctum of Writing, the collection topic of my Epics and Short Stories. You can find everything I have written on BZP here, though it isn't much (and probably will never be). Review are welcome on every story. Most of them, however, were on the old forums and are not accessible anymore; however, I have decided to list them here for completeness' sake (it is unlikely, though not impossible, that I'll repost them, unless by chance someone is interested). The ones on the new forums are still visible; apart from my latest epic, though, they have lost their original format and can thus be a bit difficult to read. If anyone wants to give it a try, though, they're more than welcome to do so. For reviews, you can use the relative review topics. If you have some more general advice, you can post that here. Thank you for your time. Epics The Great Cataclysm -- a short epic depicting the events of the Great Cataclysm throughout the Matoran Universe.Invasion -- the BIONICLE Legends 7 that never was, describing the journey of the Toa Inika through the Stone Cord and their conflict with Makuta, Vezon and the Zyglak.Raid on Destral -- an epic telling how the Toa Hagah discovered the Brotherhood of Makuta's betrayal, stole the Mask of Light, defeated the Makuta of Metru Nui and the Dark Hunters before finally falling and being turned into Rahaga by Roodaka.End of a Universe, Birth of a Kingdom -- my latest (and probably last) epic: a prequel to the short story the Kingdom, telling the events that led to the creation of the Kingdom of the Great Spirit.Aethion Multiverse Investigation -- an Alarist magistrate, Turaga Omag, embarks on an investigation to uncover a massive criminal organization behind many recent events, including the disappearance of massive amounts of money, a massive property speculation and a black market of drugs and lethal weapons. Meanwhile, a Matoran called D'mal finds himself in the most incredible place, where he must fight his way to get back home.Spirit -- Seerpt is a Tanuuk slave. One day, his village is bombed by Deathwings. But Seerpt doesn't die. Instead, he becomes part of a peaceful and free community of spirits. But conflict is never far away. The spirits are being hunted down by a merciless Tanuuk Tyrant and a powerful Barrawahi warrior. And even these two pale in comparison to the real threat: the Olmak Effect.TThe Olmak Directive (Part 1; Part 2) (Review Topic) -- in an alternate Aethion, six planets are enslaved by a sentient Olmak Effect, with only a small Resistance and Izumal standing between it and total domination. The Agent Crisis (Review Topic) -- a new Izumal Agent has appeared. But unlike the other Agents seen before, this one seems intent on killing people. Has Izumal finally revealed its true nature? Or is there something else behind this new behavior? As more Agent attacks occur, the reporterette Hanashi tries to uncover the truth behind them, while Sawu, a sentient weapon of mass destruction who has sworn never to kill again, must wage an almost hopeless battle against the Agent in a desperate attempt to stop him.Short stories Contest Entries Chronicles of Spherus Magna: The Core War -- my entry for BS01 Contest #3, depicting different moments and battles of the Core War.The Power of the Mind -- my entry for BS01 Contest #5, chronicling the story of Varian, a Toa of Psionics with extraordinarily strong powers on a quest for vengeance.
  16. Between the Bookends Aderia's Library Collection Whew. Dusty in here. Hope you don't mind. Take your time, browse around, but please don't try to re-shelve books yourself. Review Topic 2020-21 project! Probably a duology of epics, but 'saga' sounded better. Can't rule out additional short stories after the fact. Water's Will - Short story. In a time where titans ruled and fought, vying for influence and power in the dawn of the Matoran Universe, one keen Toa of Water sees the need to enact great change, and the opportunity to do so. She takes it. (Published 11/22/19) (prequel/tie in to The Ternion) The Ternion - Epic. Complete!! A stasis capsule from an era past washes up on the shore of a small coastal town, Uahi, in the north-western region of the Northern Continent. A careful Toa of Fire, the sole guardian of the region so recently desolated by the conquests of the League of Six Kingdoms, is called to investigate. This is the story about what he found that day. (Published 11/15/19) The Sculptors and the Smelters - Epic. The Matoran Civil War started out as precisely that - Matoran trying to be civil to each other. However, one should never underestimate the passive-aggressive capacity of a slighted Po-Matoran sculptor, nor the one-upping tenacity of a Ta-Matoran smelter. Unfortunately, they both underestimated one another in these regards, and the whole city paid the price. Companion to The Ternion, but also (hopefully) works as a standalone epic. Review Topic - this contains multiple appendices (aka, author's runaway headcanons) including character lists, a Northern Continent Compendium, and a guide to the Matoran Civil War. Metru Nui News Articles - Flash fictions. News articles and other literature from daily life in Metru Nui before/during the Matoran Civil War. Mutant Snipes Take Northern Sculpture Fields by Reporter Kodan (12/18/19) Dear Sanso - an advice column excerpt from your favorite musician (12/23/19) From the Desk of Chief Editor Kopeke, a submission by Ehrye (12/30/19) A Metru Nui Classified Ad by Archivist Mavrah (01/07/20) A Ta-Matoran Obituary, written in loving memory by Aft (01/14/20) Syllabus for COMM/SOC 0275: Communication and Conflict by Professor Nokama (01/20/20) Short Stories The Last Ember Day - Even the Turaga of Metru Nui can't know how a seemingly idyllic day will end. (10/27/2020) Author's note: I tried writing something scary for this Halloween! New territory for me, for the most part! We've only really seen impostor Dume. I like to think he was a legitimately good Turaga, who tried to do what was best by his people, while still keeping a functioning city. But bad things still happen to good Turagas, unfortunately. That Wistful Place Above - A certain shape-shifter, recently recovered from her defeat at the hands of the Toa Metru, takes a gander up-world. (11/9/2020). Older Works (disclaimer...these are from that angsty high school phase that I'm pretty sure we all went through. But I stand by my works. Most of them. The ones I don't, I got rid of XD) Reality's Fantasy - Kind of a flash fiction. There are two sides to every fight. The winning side, and the losing side. After a fateful clash of the titans for the control of Creation itself, two beings draw the conflict to a close once and for all. (2012) Black Diamonds One being reminiscing amongst the ruins of Odina. (Published 1/26/11) The Lonely - Solitary confinement is not kind to the Fallen Toa Mangai of Water. All Our Sins Remembered The haunting of a Toa of Iron by Pride, Anger, Envy, Lust, Fear, and even Death, and how it tears his team of Toa apart. SSC8 Entry, (Published 11/15/11) Dark Vanity Roodaka VS. Lariska, a hypothetical showdown between the two. Also see 'Femme Fatality" by Tyler Durden. (published 6/12/12) Perfectionist "You were created to be perfect. Anything less is unacceptable." A tale of a manipulated Son of the Makuta and his place in the world. (Published 9/5/11) Also see: Faux Faux - Epic. If Makuta are analgous to Toa, then this is the story about a Matoran version of Makuta. This is his story. Discontinued. (Published 7/1/2012) Holiday Cheer - Everyone deserves a kitten for Christmas, right? Even the brats. Refrigerator Art - A second-grader draws an interesting picture, to the concern of his teacher. Other Media The Duchess - Short 2D RPG made with RPG Maker MV. Play as a family cat drawn into a small adventure after the arrival of an unexpected visitor. How to Impress Your Sister with Chinese - Link to blog entry. A series of informal lessons to introduce Mandarin Chinese (my major in college and a big part of my heritage) made for a friend at work, and I decided, why not share a bit more on the internet? I know anyone can learn anything about any language with the internet nowadays, so what's to lose, throwing my hat on the pile? A Bionicle-ization of the popular board game, Catan! 19. You check the address. It's correct: 142 carved on the doorframe. A set of wind chimes sway by the door, blinking in the evening sun.You pick up the muaka-shaped knocker and give it a few taps. After a few seconds, you can hear movement behind the door. With a groan, it opens. A tired looking, spotless Le-matoran stands in the doorway, blinking at you. "I suppose you're here to see Miss Yukiko. Come in." You step into a tight hallway. Wall sconces cast a soft light on the scene around you. As you follow the Le-matoran, you catch sight of sets of paintings on the walls by some of the city's artists. They're not originals, but very good copies and obviously well maintained. The Le-matoran finally comes to a closed door at the end of the hall. He knocks. No response. When another, harder knock fails to elicit a reaction, he opens the door, ignoring the DO NOT DISTURB sign. "Someone to see you, miss." "Tell them to GO AWAY, Rekki." "Are you sure, miss. They appear to be from the pub-" "AAAAh!!"You can hear a frantic shuffling of paper. "Why didn't you tell me that earlier?!" Rekki steps aside and motions for you to go in. The second you step inside, you are assaulted with papers flying everywhichway, clearly controlled by some sort elemental power. "Where are-AHA!" The papers abruptly settle, and you can finally see the speaker. She can't be more than a bio tall, and her green eyes are intensely fixed on your feet. She hands you a very clean looking manilla envelope, her eyes flickering up to meet yours momentarily. "Um...so...if you would please...ah...look at them in the sitting room? I'm kind of...busy right now..." "Of course," you say, smiling, as she practically leaps back to her desk. Rekki shows you to the sitting room. It is cozy space, home to several bookshelves stuffed to bursting with novels and story collections featuring artists from all around the city. You choose one of the firm leather chairs and turn the light on, opening the envelope. You take the first page out, and it shines crisp and white in your hand. 20. Time is like a river, and the mortals trapped in the flow of time are no more than bacteria compared to the truly immense macrocosm in which they live.I, I will admit, am one of those bacteria: stuck in the river, unknowing, ignorant even, of what goes on outside. The hand of Destiny is like a stone, dropping into the river and killing those who must die; and then, with a deft flip of Fate's coin, that same stone knocks into the river bottom and sends minerals through the water to the other, waiting bacteria.A pity I could not have been born a stone, then. It began outside the river; so, the question I pose myself so many nights is, What is outside time? What is outside this reality?I cannot answer that question.Quantum theory includes the side-effect of multiple universes, a "multiverse", if you will; perhaps in the macro-macrocosm of the multiverse, there are other Novas more woefully ignorant than I am; perhaps there are some who do know what lies beyond. What a pity I cannot meet them. I cannot do a lot of things as a mortal Toa, unable to reach beyond my own reality, my river.Yet even a bacteria has a mind, primitive in that it relies only on instincts and reactions, but a mind nonetheless. And with my mind, I can imagine what lies beyond. Not just through thoughts, but through art, music......and writing.* * *Short StoriesArchived:-AmbushThis story tells of how Surel's leg became injured, and what caused Vastus to become guilt-ridden. It was my entry to BS01 Contest #3: Core War; though it didn't make the list of finalists, I don't think it's bad; it's just not amazing.-IndecisionArin, a Le-Matoran, has no intentions of leaving Mata Nui -- and it costs both him and his friends. I originally wrote this for an anthology that Mahar planned, but when no other authors turned in stories, I posted it by itself.-Fall of a ToaVarian is part of a Toa team patrolling Xia, but when Dark Hunters invade, her fate is set in stone. It was my entry to BS01 Contest #5: Sleeping Awake; the judges deemed it runner-up, so I'm definitely proud of this story.-Ancient Chronicle Sample -- The Forest FireThis is a sample of the currently-postponed story serial Lein's Tale, by Mata Nui Inc. As lead writer of the story serial, I will be in charge of planning and editing the chapters.-It Doesn't MatterThis was my first (and probably last) songfic, based on the song "In the End" by Linkin Park.-Painful MemoriesWhen Lesovikk ends up stranded on a barren wasteland of an island, he finds that Rock Lions can be tougher than they look, and that almost everyone deserves a second chance. This is my first entry to KanohiJournal Contest #5: Lesovikk's Hiatus.-Gali's ClearingWhenever Toa Gali is frustrated, she goes to the only place she knows of in Ga-Wahi where she can be at peace -- her own special clearing. This was written more as an experiment than a long story, and as such is short -- no dialogue, action, or even worded thoughts.-IntruderBased off my MOC Irikar, this story tells of how he came to Metru Nui and barely escaped with his life. It's short, yes, but still a good warm-up exercise if nothing else.-StrangerOne hundred years after Spherus Magna's reformation, a Skakdi mercenary named Darvin gets into more than a little trouble with a bartender and a Toa. I only just completed this after having the first several paragraphs lying around for months, collecting virtual dust on my hard drive; hopefully it will be worth your while -- and, by extension, mine.Non-Archived:-Merciless ShadowsThis story tells of an artifact known as the Iden Stone, and how Pridak, Takadox, two Matoran from Mahri Nui, and Zyglak become mixed up in the stone's fate. It was my entry to S&T Contest #6: A Thousand Years Untold 2; it placed first in the Mahri Nui category and is now considered part of the official Bionicle canon storyline.-Jovan's TestAfter escaping a storm by landing on the Southern Continent, Lesovikk runs into a Toa of Magnetism, Jovan, who shows that the former Toa of Air needs more training than he thinks he does. This is my second entry into KanohiJournal Contest 5: Lesovikk's Hiatus.-The InevitableStrange deaths in Makuhero City place Hero Factory on high alert. But how can they cope with a problem far beyond their control? This was a Halloween special and, I believe, the first Hero Factory fan-fiction posted in the Short Stories forum.-IgnitionDume offers Nuparu the chance to expunge his folly, the Kralhi, by creating a new security robot called the Vahki. Nuparu leaps for the chance of redemption, but as the day for the Vahki's ignition nears, he wonders if he is making the right choice. This was my entry into Short Story Contest 8: Title Twisters; it reached the People's Choice poll and earned first place in the People's Choice category. I am very proud of this story.* * *EpicsArchived:-Up in Flames (Review Topic)When Nova, Toa of Blue Fire, encounters the destroyer of his village and a powerful Dark Hunter, the resulting battles and chases push him to his limit. This is my first story about my Bionicle alter-ego, Nova, and my thousandth-post special.Non-Archived:-LSO 2012, Team Three, co-written with GSR, Eyru, and Janus (Review Topic)During the Time Slip, Helryx's mission to relocate Av-Matoran takes a turn for the worse. This is a round-robin story for the 2012 Library Summer Olympics; Eyru, GSR, and I are expecting to continue the epic (this time with pre-planning!) after the Epics judging period is over.
