  1. THE GAME It has been only months after the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the second Death Star battlestation, and with it the Galactic Empire’s head. Both the newly christened New Republic and the Empire are scrambling, consolidating power and swathes of territory as star systems pledge allegiance to one side or the other, only to turn at the slightest provocation (or threat of bombardment from the Imperial Navy). The Empire, hit the hardest from the death of Palpatine, has been struggling with infighting as power-hungry bureaucrats attempt to claim the throne for themselves. While the Council of Moffs have taken de facto control, the initial chaos has allowed the New Republic a number of victories to push the Imperials back from the Outer Rim and to their Core strongholds. Though facts are in short supply and rumors are everywhere, the ceaseless churning of the Imperial propaganda machine being of no help, news of the former Rebellion’s win has spread like a wild fire, kicking up smaller, local resistance movements across countless worlds. However, Darth Sidious’ demise has had far more affects than most of the galaxy’s inhabitants can sense, many of which could be devastating to both the fledgling New Republic and weakened Empire. As the waves of darkness, malice, and hate that the Sith Lord had been blanketing the galaxy with dissipate, the Force shines out into void once again, seeking out those who connect to it and igniting old beacons of knowledge. The first to hear this call, unfortunately, were those in the ranks of the Empire’s dark side adepts, the Inquisitors. With Sidious gone, the group of would-be Sith Lords have struck out on a crusade for power, far more than what the previous dark lord would have allowed. This search has led some of their number to the battered world of Taris, where they pursue a Republic agent, and the information which will lead them to the biggest repository of information available: a holocron. THE PLAYERS The New Republic is a fledgling government created from the reorganization of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Spurred by the Empire’s defeat at Endor, and the subsequent mass of star systems rallying to their cause, the New Republic has transformed the fighting force of the Rebellion to a legitimate political power. Its seat of government is positioned on the world of Chandrila, with Mon Mothma serving as Chancellor. The Republic is still relatively small compared to the might of the Galactic Empire, though discord throughout the Imperial powerbase has worked to their advantage. Its military consists mainly of starships loaned by sympathetic and member world’s planetary security forces, though Imperial warships from both captures and defectors have been added to their ranks. The Empire is currently under the command of the Council of Moffs, with the even tighter military grip on member worlds forcing many to seek help from the New Republic. Galactic Empire, a name which sent dread and despair into the hearts of being across the galaxy. The Imperials were severely weakened command-wise with the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Sith Lord’s direct approach to government proving to be a weakness once the head was severed from the body. While theoretically they are still the reigning power in the Galaxy, infighting between Moffs and the slow breakaway of star systems from their iron grip has cut down the Empire’s effective strength immensely. However, an Imperial cruiser parked in orbit is still an effective deterrent to open rebellion. The Inquisitorius, on the other hand, was a name that scarcely few would recognize, and those that did would never speak it aloud. Originally a branch of Imperial Intelligence, the organization has since grown into its own distinct entity, some say even from the Empire itself. The organization is made up of Force-sensitive individuals, all trained in the dark ways of the Sith by the late Darth Sidious and Vader. These acolytes, while not full Sith Lords, are still brutally effective Jedi Killers, and the freedom from their dark master has only made them more dangerous. Their primary objective was to hunt down and either kill or convert the remaining Jedi after Order 66, though they also worked to gather artifacts of the Force and recruit Force-sensitive younglings to their cause. The Inquisitorius is lead by the Grand Inquisitor, and the organization is quite small compared to the other military branches of the Empire. Even so, they do have their own small fleet of black-armored Imperial ships to command, in addition to what power they can take from the Moffs. THE BOARD Your story begins on the Outer Rim world of Taris, a polluted, industrial planet that has been plagued by war over the millennia. The wrecks of starships and the glass craters of orbital bombardment sit side by side with massive skyscrapers of the rich and the battered huts of the poor. While still regarded as a major world, Taris’ influence has dwindled over the years, and suffered even more so under the rule of the Empire. It is technically an Imperial planet, not many Imperials would be caught visiting. The capital city is a gleaming mass of durasteel buildings, rising just above the yellow smog, positioned next to the planet’s major spaceport. Around the spaceport are clusters of ramshackle buildings, houses, and less-than-savory businesses. Every piece of available land that isn’t swamp, and some that is, is taken up by the less fortunate of the planet’s population. On the other end of the city is the Imperial Garrison, which has access to enough Stormtroopers, Imperial Army personnel, and TIE fighters to quell most public riots. The garrison’s commander, however, isn’t too picky when it comes to where the credits in his pocket come from. Is there a way off this dreary world, well, nothing's impossible. The Force is pulling the strings, and always in motion, the future is. THE PIECES Your heroes and villains. Fields in bold are required, others can be added and removed as needed. Name: Age: Gender/Species: Only rule is being sensible when it comes to species. Appearance: Description, picture, anything that accurately portrays them works. Skills: What are the good at? Do they have any natural abilities? Force Abilities: For those that are Force Sensitive. Includes both specific techniques and passive benefits (e.g., Force Lightning or a perception boost respectively). Do note, characters are not going to be throwing X-Wings around without proper training, and most aren’t even going to be aware of the Force to begin with. Equipment: Blasters, comlinks, old rusty knives, etc? Personality: What are some of their mannerisms, how do they carry themselves? History: Who are they, where are they from, how did they end up on Taris? This RPG is going to focus very much on the advancement of characters, so starting out as the most powerful ever may hamper interaction. Ship: Do they own a starship? Affiliation: Galactic Empire, New Republic, a lone mercenary, a Hutt Cartel enforcer, who do they call allies, if they have any? Rank: If part of a larger organization, do note that Imperial Moffs aren’t likely to concern themselves with these events, and the New Republic leadership is too busy trying to keep a government together to notice. Position: Say if they’re part of the crew of a cruiser or on a squad of soldiers. Alignment: Good, evil, justice, money, adventure, knowledge, what do they value? THE RULES BZPower general rules apply, as always folks.Game staff have final say, though the personal messenger system is a powerful tool that should be used if any disagreements form.Keep it classy, that includes OOC behavior and such. Don't be that guy.Your characters are your own and others' are their own, express permission is required by a player before anything drastic is done to their character. However, NPCs, being non-crucial to the progression of story, do not require permission. It is common courtesy, and encouraged, to ask though.Profiles only require a single approval from staff.Metagaming is strictly prohibited, the most common of which is having characters know OOC knowledge that they shouldn't have IC.Deus Ex Machina, and other devices used to get characters out of situations via impossible means are not allowed.

Now after all these years of sorrow it has finally been revived! 7. The definitive version! Anyone else annoyed that among all the miniature X-Wing models we've gotten, not a single one has used the minifigure ski pole piece as the wing cannons even though they're literally perfect for it? And as a fun bonus this version doesn't have wings' pivot points in line with the engines, so it's more accurate in that regard than all the others too! gallery
  8. So, what does one do when one has an extra Jyn Erson head floating about? Well, you might remember I built a Doctor with a Chirrut Imwe head, so these heads aren't completely useless. My brother pointed out it would make a decent Jan Ors head, from the Dark Forces games. So I went ahead and built Jan Ors. Jan Ors by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I'm quite pleased with the result Jan Ors by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I just had to keep the gear function. I know it takes away from the overall look, but it's so fun! Please tell me what you think! EKnight (Toa Han)
  9. I've had this idea floating in my mind for a long time, but I finally got around to making it! The TIE/WL Walker, affectionately called the TIEtan by pilots, is a collaborative project between Sienar Fleet Systems and Kuat Drive Yards. When the Imperial Military's R&D labs approached the two contracted manufacturers with a common project seeking to merge the strengths of the TIE series of starfighters with the AT series of walkers, representatives of the two companies were hostile to the idea at first, but eventually an agreement was reached. The Walker doesn't only carry the TIE name as a nod to its design, as it is indeed powered by a dual Ion-based power core. The design brief called for a ground vehicle with the versatility of a walker, but with the maneuverability of a starfighter. Unlike any AT series vehicle, the TIE Walker was designed to be roughly humanoid in shape, featuring legs that had far greater range of motion than any AT model. One very clear and obvious advantage the TIEtan has, for example, is that it can get back up if knocked over. The design process of the vehicle was long and troubled, primarily due to constant workplace incompatibility between the Sienar and Kuat staff. The TIEtan, in spite of being the result of the concept "mix the TIE with the AT", differs from both in many aspects. It is the sole Imperial military vehicle which has a primary weapon system independent of the main vehicle itself. The large gun is held by the machine's humanoid hands instead of being integrated. It also represent the complete opposite of typical Imperial design directives - instead of a simple machine that is easy to mass produce, and is therefore expendable, the TIEtan is a highly complex feat of engineering, and each unit is extremely costly to produce, thus the retrieval of even heavily damaged units is imperative. The TIEtan's main gun also went through many design iterations. The weapon is loaded with three different kinds of ammunition, which already alludes to another major difference from typical Imperial weapons - instead of being a blaster, the WLG-108 uses projectiles. The basic loadout includes independent magazines for hybrid Anti-Material/Armor Piercing ammo, High-Explosive ammo and Incendiary ammo. Sienar and Kuat engineers argued during development extensively whether to settle with incendiary ammo or give the Walker an actual flamethrower with a back-mounted fuel tank, however eventually the danger of the fuel tank caused the incendiary ammo to be the final version. With the back-slot freed up, R&D teams explored the concept of a dedicated melee weapon, and produced a working prototype for a huge chain-sword. In the end, the weapon would have demanded significant downgrades in other areas to fit the budget, so it was scrapped. The design team's progress report about the cancellation of the melee weapon stated "The Walker can punch anything in melee range anyway". Eventually the back-slot was designated as a storage area for the WLG-108, allowing the TIEtan to use its dextrous hands for support activities, like clearing debris before less agile vehicles, like AT-STs and Sabre tanks. After the Walker was deployed, resourceful pilots also discovered that the hands can be used for climbing. Additional armaments include an auto-targeting anti-infantry "cleanup" blaster mounted on the top of the cockpit, a "small" (compared to the WLG-108) hand-held blaster sidearm should primary ammo run out (stored on a hip-holster) and a 4-missile extendable launcher bank suitable for anti-air and anti-material applications. The humanoid design of the TIEtan allowed for a considerably wide range of motion, almost equal to that of humans. Most standard vehicle control schemes limited this ability, however, so the design team had to explore alternate options. Motion-controls were considered, which saw pilots dressed in an exo-skeleton with sensors on all their joints translating their own movements to the vehicle, however this would have required far too much room, which the cockpit did not provide. The designers were forced to opt for a highly experimental and costly method instead, which they dubbed Spinal Bypass. TIEtan pilots have to be extensively implanted with special cybernetics, primarily in their brains and eyes, but the biggest procedure with the complete replacement of the entire spine with a cybernetic augmentation. This implant is then used to "plug-in" to the TIEtan, and the brain implants redirect electrical impulses from the brain to the vehicle. When the pilot "moves" their hand, the signal never reaches their actual hand, but is instead directed into the Walker, so it moves its hand. While in the cockpit, the pilots are temporarily paralysed. The cockpit contains basic controls, but these are only there due to the value of the vehicles themselves - should a TIEtan pilot be incapacitated, but the vehicle is still operable, non-implanted Imperial personnel can access very limited functionality, allowing them to walk the Walker back to base. Due to the much wider range of motion and higher speed compared to other walkers, during simulations veteran TIE pilots fared much better than AT pilots, thus the pool of high-performing starfighter pilots is where TIEtan pilots are transferred from and trained. Since piloting a TIEtan is a sensation equal to moving your own body, many pilots developed motorfunction quirks after spending a lot of time out in the field. As the Walker possesses no "head" and the cockpit is in the torso, the pilots never move their necks while inside. After prolonged missions, many bring this kind of motion with them to down time. When someone calls out to a TIEtan pilot, instead of glancing over, they would twist their whole torso to face the other person. This has resulted in a marked increase of personnel problems and bullying towards pilots, who tend to keep to one another for company. As a result, the HR department of the Imperial Military prescribed mandatory 3 hours per week with base counselors. TIEtans didn't see much field action during the early days of the Empire, and due to their cost they never became widespread, always remaining elite units of few number. Though extensively field tested prior, a unit consisting of 6 TIEtans were first properly deployed during the Battle of Hoth. While the standard Imperial units, consisting of AT-ATs and AT-STs lead the main assault, the Walker unit was sent to traverse the mountains and snow-dunes hiding the Rebel airfield. Though many Rebels, including all high-value targets escaped, the TIEtans performed admirably in the extreme weather conditions, broke through the defenses and shot down several smaller Rebel ships. They were later deployed across many theatres of war, and also used as intimidation in newly "liberated" regions - however, this secondary function wasn't often used, as 20 AT-STs are scarier to farmers than a single TIEtan, but they still cost less. Walkers modified for zero-g operation patrolled the outer hull of the Death Star 2, for example. Following the fall of the Empire, the remnant could no longer afford manufacturing new TIEtans, so those which remained in operation became extremely important, and their pilots became celebrated legends among the military. It is unknown whether the First Order is attempting to adapt the old TIE Walker design for their own use, but so far they have not fielded any similar vehicles. 10. Let's talk about it. Do you think LEGO prioritizing their Star Wars CCBS lead to them neglecting their original CCBS property? Did BIONICLE having to compete w/ Star Wars CCBS end up ending the line? Or would BIONICLE G2 still have come to an early end whether or not Star Wars CCBS was a thing?
  11. He's 38 in Episode III. Which would make him 57 in Episode IV. In these movies, Ewin and Alec were 34 and 63, respectively. So basically, over the course of 19 years, Ewin would have to age about 29 years in order to look like Alec, or in other words he would have to age 33% faster than normal. I find that believable because my father went from looking like he was in his early-20's in his late 30's to looking like he was in his late 60's when he was in his early 50's. So basically, in about 15 years he looked like he aged 30 years. Age has not treated that man too well. And he wasn't even living on a desert planet. So all things considered, I actually think that Obi-Wan aged with quite a bit of grace, given his circumstances. Oh, and I kind of hope that the future Obi-Wan movie is a Western. And that it has the Force music. And that it's directed by James Mangold. The possibly still alive Ennio Morricone as composer? I'd respect that. Al Silvestri wouldn't be bad, either. 24601

  13. Presenting my silly BBC #74 entry. When I found out about this guy, I had to try and MOC him. Entry Pic Ready for battle. Fighting Vader. Grievous comparison. Reference image. Yes, he is just 95% General Grievous with a purple lightsaber, cape, and a Mon Calamari head. That's why he's awesome. Thanks for looking.
  14. So, I picked up both of the latest Star Wars ulrabuilds at my local Target a couple of days ago. Here's a let's build/review of the Stormtrooper Commander for anyone who's interested!
  15. So today is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. It was on this day, back in 1977, that the first Star Wars film came out, giving the world one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. And since then, we've gotten seven more Star Wars film with more on the way, comics, books, video games, multiple TV shows, and tons of merchandise. (Many of it being Lego sets. ) While the quality of these things depends on the person, there's no argument that Star Wars holds a special place in many people's hearts. And with the franchise moving forward, it will no doubt do the same for generations to come. Here's to another 40 years of Star Wars! What are some of your favorite Star Wars films, books, TV shows, comics, video games, and/or merchandise?
  16. It's May the Fourth, so I thought I'd post something Star Wars related here to celebrate the occasion. And what better way to mark the day than to show one of the first YouTube videos I ever watched ten years ago, which just happened to be a Lego Star Wars homemade video. May the Fourth be with you all!
  17. Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably known that this trailer came out the other day. Star Wars fans have been waiting to see what Luke Skywalker return to the franchise. He made a cameo in Force Awakens, which was cool. But it's great that he will have a bigger role to play in this movie. One thing I really liked about this teaser is that it didn't give that much away about it's story, similar to how the first Force Awakens teaser did back in 2014. I know that's a given, since this is a teaser, but I hope that it's something that the next trailer or two will do as well. Say what you want about Episode 7, but at least it's trailers did a great job of getting people excited for the movie without revealing a lot of its story. I really hope the next trailer for The Last Jedi can do the same. The other thing that I thought was interesting about the movie is Luke quote stating 'The Jedi must end.' I've read some theories on what he really means by this statement. I seen some say that he might've turned to the Dark Side, which I highly doubt would've happened. Another theory I've seen is that he believes that balance can be restored if the Jedi stop existing. I guess that kind of makes scene, but if that is the case, then we know that Rey will probably convince him otherwise. But I've also seen some theorize that Luke has become a 'Grey Jedi,' someone who uses both Light and Dark sides of the Force. They think that Luke's quote about the Jedi ending is him stating that the idea of what a Jedi is thought to be up to that point in time needs to stop, so that a new kind of Jedi can come to be. I actually really like this theory, and it's one that I kind of hope is true. But we'll all find out when the film comes out in December. What do you all think of this teaser? And what you all think Luke means when he says 'The Jedi must end?'
  18. Note: if you have not seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and don't want to see spoilers, DON'T READ THIS! Note 2: I wanted to type this up and post it last month, but I hadn't gotten around to finishing it until now. That's why this is late. So Star Wars's first one-off story, at least one to have a cinematic release, came out last month. And while I did really enjoy it, does it hold up for the other movies? Here's what I though about it. Spoilers are beyond this point, just to give another warning.
  19. As we all know by now (and are deeply disheartened by) Star Wars lost its beloved Princess Leia yesterday. Having been a fan of Star Wars from a young age (pretty much a given for my generation ), it hit me pretty hard and I felt it fitting that I build something to commemorate her passing. I look back and realize that I didn't appreciate Leia (or Han, or C-3PO) as a character when I first saw the movies, only later having a better understanding of her awesomeness. Sadly, this MOC doesn't do Carrie the justice she deserves, as I didn't have another version of Leia to use as inspiration. All I had was the outfit she wore during Han and Luke's award ceremony at the end of A New Hope, in which Leia stood beside the other leaders of the Rebellion in a grand hall on Yavin IV. So, I used that scene as inspiration, incorporating the stone steps and foliage-entangled stone pillars into this small memorial piece. Given time, space, and more parts, I may revamp it later on to include more details and a few other characters, though I would rather keep the focus on Leia for this piece. For now, I'm content to keep this little reminder of our beloved Carrie Fisher. She's one with the Force now. Hope you enjoy. ^Image links to Flickr gallery^ Comments? Criticism? Cookies?
  20. I noticed that there was no general Star Wars topic posted yet, so I decided to make one. This is the place to talk about all things Star Wars.
  21. So, yeah, I don't really make MOCs that often, and post about them even less often. But I built this a little while ago and finally got around to posting it on my LEGO blog (link goes to the post), and thought I'd put it on here as well. main closer underside rear open cockpit smile for the camera The wings have a mechanism so if you move one of them on one side it will move the other on that side in the opposite direction (eg, lift up the top one and the bottom one lowers). As the pictures show, the cockpit and the little slot for the droid both open up. The ship has a bit of backstory, but I can't exactly remember what I came up with when I made it. I think it was something like a rogue group of Rebels broke off and started up their own more vigilante-like alliance and rebuilt or repainted a few X-Wings to be black and red, or something like that. I think the nose of the ship could've used some more work (maybe should've been a bit longer and I would've liked to add more detail), but I was getting tired of my floor being covered in LEGO so I had to finish it to clean up. Thoughts/criticism welcome, although I'll probably be disassembling it pretty soon (MOCs don't last very long with me, I like to have all of my LEGO organized).
  22. 'Ello there I made another drawing. Well, it's more like a WIP but I don't know when I'll get the chance to finish it. As always, click the thumbnail Click here for Takanuva only, without the background. I must say I'm enjoying making random crossovers with Takanuva. The best part is that he did travel across dimensions for a while
  23. Note: Slight spoilers for the latest trailer are in this entry. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. Don't you hate it when you want to blog about info revealed on something you like but can't until a few days later because life keeps you busy? I do. But regardless, a new Star Wars: Rogue One trailer was released last week. Since the movie is coming out in last than two months, it could be assumed that this will be the final trailer for the film. And aside from revealing that Jyn's father plays a part in the building of the Death Star and what 'Rogue One' means in the film's story, we don't really get any new info on the film's plot. And that delights me a lot. I think it's great that one could watch all three trailers for this movie and still not have a concrete idea on what is going to happen in it. I mean, we do know that they get the plans in the end, as the Rebels have them in A New Hope. But how they got them isn't really shown in these trailers. The Force Awakens trailers did the same thing with that movie's story last year, and I hope this trend continues for the upcoming Star Wars movies. As for what is shown in the trailer, I will say that it all looks really cool. You can tell from the tone of it that this movie will have a darker, serious story to it. The blend of CGI and practical effects looks great here as well, just as it did in The Force Awakens. And the music sounds good too, though I'm not sure if it will be as good as John William's Star Wars scores of the past. But overall, this trailer has succeeded in keeping my hype up for this movie. December can't get here soon enough. But not before Doctor Strange comes out next month. What do you guys think of this trailer?
  24. So Star Wars: The Force Awakens appeared on the Starz channels this last weekend, so I decided to watch it after work because I haven't seen it since it was in theaters. Man, I forgot how great the music is in that movie. All the Star Wars movies have good music IMO, but the music in this one is particularly good. It was actually cool just to see the movie again in general. I really like it a lot. And I bet the Starz channels will be playing the movie a lot for the next week or two, so I'm probably going to be watching it a lot.
