Sydney Opera House Immortalized in ABS

Recommended Posts

10234_teaser.jpgUnfortunately I am not at Brickworld Chicago this weekend. If I was there, I could see the unveiling of a brand new LEGO set in person, the 10234 Sydney Opera House, the latest set in the architecture lineup. At almost 3000 pieces, this thing is pretty ridiculous and doubly impressive, with a lot of cool building techniques. You can check out the designer video
. If you read on, you can see pretty pictures and the full press release.View the full article

Much better than that mini one they made a couple years ago, but as you would expect. Looks great! You really can tell how excited the creator was in completing it, and it does look wonderfully complex but deceptively simple. And solid to boot!

Now, if only Australians got it at a discounted price...or at least got it on par with the US pricing. :P

I always take issue with that phrase "immortalized in LEGO" or "immortalized in ABS", at least with regard to landmarks. Sure, LEGO models are a wonderful testament to those landmarks. However, simply by virtue of being a plastic toy that can be taken apart on a whim, they are almost invariably less "immortal" than the actual landmark they're replicating!Anyway, this set looks awesome. I'm not sure when or how I will get it, but it would be a great set for anyone's collection.
