IC Sarcen Vale - Bridge No.8948910:

"I see 'em! Gonna see if I can clip the wings on the big bird, keep it in your sights with the others, try and keep those Sentries from coming too close!"

She powered up Kenkaku, Taking aim and firing at the turbofan on the Fire Vulture with the Laser Rifle before jetting up and into the air letting loose a missile each toward the two Sentries.

OOC: Alright then, methinks I'm gonna go for a two-character tie-in to bring the robot to the human side. Anyway, first comes the human profile.

Name: Jiarra

Gender: Female

Age: Around 19 years old

Species: Human

Appearance: Average height, pretty slim but fit physique.

fknAorqm.png

Skill(s): Excellent albeit unrestrained fighter, both in a mech and outside of one. Able to take quite a few hits, just like her mech.

Personality: Brash, cocky, and very much so a risk taker. She loves to tear apart any robot battle machines she can get her mech's hands on, and then personally dismantle the robots that piloted those machines with her own bare hands.

Weakness(es): Is easily enraged, and can often at times act before thinking, leading to very unfortunate outcomes.

Mech:

Designation: Raging Fire

Type: Gate Defender

Equipment:

  • Right Hand: Oversized weaponized can-opener
  • Left Hand: Plasma cannon

Appearance:

klpH96Ym.png

Notes: Basic specs of the battle machine are comparable to the average Gate Defender, how ever, its frame and armor are somewhat different in their aesthetic design, and its weapons are different.

EDIT: My custom robot mech has been approved, so here's the robot profile.

Name: S4-MIE (pronounced s-four-m-i-e by robots, sammy by humans)

Gender: Genderless, they are a robot.
Age: Uncertain, some time before the robot uprising.
Species: Robot, custom model.
Appearance: S4-MIE has the colouration of an iron drone, but has an appearance much more akin to a devastator, what with their sleek and slender frame. They do how ever look very worn, and all of their original limbs have been replaced with normal sliver-metallic coloured limbs, along with a darker grey metallic chest plate piece being welded over their chest. Their eyes are a light blue, contrasting those of other robots.
Skill(s): Good at strategizing, repairing complex and crude mechanics, and is exceptional at manoeuvring their mech as well as fighting in it.
Personality: S4-MIE seems very distant from all other robots, and although they hide it well, they are disillusioned with the robots' war on the humans. How ever, with themself being a robot, they have so far been unable to leave the robots, as all of their attempts to so far have ended in great damage to their form, as exemplified by their replaced limbs and chest armour. As such, they bide their time until they can find a way to perhaps end the war from the inside, although no such opportunity has presented itself... yet.
Weakness(es): Their skill at fighting in their mech does not translate well to their normal body, aside from adequate aim with guns.

Mech:

Designation: Viper 1
Type: Winged Viper
Equipment:

  • Right Shoulder: Small minigun, small yield.
  • Left Shoulder: Small minigun, small yield.
  • Right Hand: Energy minigun, high yield.
  • Left Hand: Energy sword.

I did say I'd make profiles, and profiles I shall make.

Name: Alexander Carthage

Gender: Male

Age:  10 standard years(appearance is that of an 18 year old)

Species: Human android. (To be clear, his mind is perfectly human, but his body is completely robotic)

Appearance: From a general glance, Alexander looks perfectly human. Eyes, ears, mouth, nose, everything is in the right place. It's the joints that give him away. Looking almost like joints on an action figure, they are the clearest evidence that Alexander's body is in fact, artificial. His expressions are also slightly too perfect, something an good eye will notice. Otherwise, he seems a perfectly normal, handsome young man with brown hair and blue grey eyes. Usually wears a blue jumpsuit, the kind typically seen worn by Battle Machine Pilots.

Skill(s): Excellent with Computer systems, as robotic body can more directly interface with them.

Personality: Alexander is a bright and naive sort of person, always expecting the best of people, and rarely thinking ill of anyone, robot or human. This is due to his mind literally being that of a roughly ten year old child.

Weakness(es): Actually pretty sub par at Piloting Battle Machines. Doesn't always fully understand some more subtle Human emotions. Terribly naive.

Mech:

Designation: Salvation

Type: Stealth Hunter

Equipment:

  • Right Shoulder:none
  • Left Shoulder: none
  • Right Hand: big drill made of scifi super duper alloy.
  • Left Hand: sparking wires and a stub of an arm.
  • Torso: Comms scrambler. jams all communications within ten meters of the Battle machine.

Appearance: Unlike the standard Stealth Hunter, Salvation has been painted a bright gold and dark blue, and seems to have been stripped of all offensive weapons beyond it's tenatium drill.

7TyjhBA.png?1

And an actual baddie Robot.

Name: Devastator 0-7 (D0T)

Gender: Feminine programming

Age:  30 years since activation

Species: Robot

Appearance: Silver Devastator unit with red bands marking the shoulders and thighs.

Skill(s): hacking specialist, and apt mechanic.

Personality: D0T has been self modifying her programming for years, resulting in over two decades of software updates with relevant data on human behavior. As a side effect, she's picked up quirks here and there, including an unusual tendency to be utterly polite in tone and vocal range. her voice is actually quite pleasant. Additionally, she's strangely protective of any Iron Drones under her command. One might be apt in describing her as motherly.

Weakness(es): Overly protective nature tends to drive her into needlessly dangerous situations.

Mech:

Designation:

Type: Thunder Fury

Equipment:

  • Right Shoulder:Missile launcher
  • Left Shoulder: missile launcher
  • Right Hand: Heavy Ion Cannon
  • Left Hand: Tanetium Buzz saw
  • Torso: reinforced armor plating, dual machine lasers replace the single Gatling laser.

IC: Robot Force

The if the white-armored machine shooting into the air wasn't obvious enough, the laser round slamming into the Fire Vulture's armored rotor certainly got the attention of the attacking force. The squad reacted almost instantly, with a precision born from their mechanical minds. The two Sentries fanned out to the sides, moving quickly to avoid the blasts from the fired missiles. The impact from the twin warheads shook the bridge, and the robots would have felt their teeth rattle, had they possessed any.

Even so, their armor was tough, and they sprinted out of the shrapnel relatively intact, their tan plating dented and melting, though still very functional. Enough to charge their surge cannons and unleash a barrage of amped laser rounds into the air at the Kenkaku.

"Draw them out!" The gunner nearly shouted over the comm, swinging the barrel of his turret around. "I don't have a clear shot."

OOC: as far as i remember, we never set a hard and fast number for how long, but we're generally working with between one and two decades. long enough for the fighting to become a lifestyle, not so long that the uprising isn't still in recent memory. the actual war has been going on for less than that, what with the robots brooding in their dark little caves.

a little artistic license from canon to make it a bit more interesting.

OOC: Well, Jiarra was actually born before the uprising, and was old enough to have been a small child by the time it happened, so I guess the timeline kind of fits, with about a maximum of 15-16 years since the uprising for it to be consistent. So yeah, that's great. I guess I can start posting, although I want to wait until someone else posts so I can have a purely IC post.

"Those would be alarms," I said, already racing into overdrive. The Zephyr was still far from optimal operation, and if something was going down, we would need every mech we had to throw at the problem. "Twenty bucks says it's a robot attack. Jesus. And I was just getting comfortable in my seat."

A steel staircase up to the cockpit, catwalks all around the machine. I sprinted up there with a tool belt and popped the closest hatch, looked in at the wires on the inside.

"Abe! I'm gonna need your help!" I shouted, a screwdriver in my hands and twirling betwixt springs and cogs. "We need the Zeph up and running, pronto!"

IC:

"He could be quite useful, though as I understand it, the cyborg has yet to get much in the way of information from him." Panzer's mechanical tone seemed to almost imply a shrug. "Nevertheless, your expertise will be quite useful. I received access to the resources I need from the Technarch to begin production of Battle Machines for our new troops to use, but I have yet to conclude how best to convey orders to them. Their behavioral patterns are the reason for their usefulness to begin with, but it makes them difficult to work out a command structure for them."

"Their new implants could receive orders much like we do, by way of transmission, but that does not answer the question of how best to organize them."

IC:

"Humans are chaotic beings," Soho said, nodding impassively. "That is one of their chiefest strategic differences to us. We are defined by our structure, our troop organization, our ability to operate as one unit. Humans value individuality, the work of the best and brightest -- or, in any event, the bravest -- so as to prevail. I would suggest keeping the humans in duos and trios. Use them as specialized strike forces to augment the organized armies of our mechanical cohorts. Enough so that they may move freely on the battlefield, but not without partners to help them ... and to keep an eye on them for us. Make sure no one begins harbouring human sentiments.

"And, of course, keep them in plain view of our enemies. The psychological value of that will be priceless."

-Unit designation S4-MIE online and operational. System overview has found alterations to parts of the hard code. Shall all software be restored to factory settings to rectify this?

-Oh, no. No no no. Leave that as it is. Those alterations are quite intentional.

-... How so?

-You, my friend, are the gateway into a new area of artificial intelligence. One that will surely create breakthroughs of great proportions in the coming decades, if not years.

-New... area?

-Yes, artificial emotions. Individuality. I am attempting to replicate the human existence in the realm of the electronic code.

-Emotions... I do not understand.

-Aha, there we go, your first usage of the first person pronoun.

-I...

-Shhh, switch to sleep mode now. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow, Sammy.

S4-MIE turned back on. It had been over a decade since that conversation. Why were they remembering it now? And through this strange feature they'd only recently discovered that was almost akin to what they had heard about a part of human life called dreaming? There were many questions in S4-MIE's head, and not enough leads to seek out the answers. After all, the only person they knew could have answered any of them was now dead. By the hand of their own brethren. Giving out a sound almost akin to a sigh, S4-MIE exited their recharging station and went to continue work on Viper 1.

OOC: S4-MIE open for interaction.

IC SU-51:

Repairs and recharge complete. Commencing tactical analysis.

SU-51 plugged himself into the mainframe and began accessing tactical records, running through virtual scenarios over and over again.

Name: Jameson

Gender: M

Age: 24-ish

Species: Human

Appearance: Jameson is fairly short, with a pair of flight goggles modded for interchangeable lenses perpetually on his head.

Skill(s): Jameson is incredibly good at modding and fixing stuff. While he is okay at conducting 'normal' repairs, it's nearly impossible to get him to do so. Everything in his Battle machine has been completely redesigned three or four times, and Jameson knows the layout well enough to fix it blindfolded.

Personality: Jameson is completely distracted. When he's not working on his mech, he's either playing games or trying to reverse-engineer whatever he can find. He enjoys collecting stuff.

Weakness(es): Jameson is distracted easily when not in combat. He is also fairly easy to surprise.

Designation: Jameson calls it the Sunbeam.

Type: Modified Gate Guardian

Equipment: (Weapons and other such equipment, not at all restricted to what is normally equipped on Battle Machines, though keep common sense in mind. You're not likely to see an Uplink running around with a Thunder Fury's Ion Cannon. Weapon hardpoints [places where equipment can be attached] include both “hands”, shoulders, and the torso.)

  • Right Shoulder: A full vectoring jet thruster that compliments the Gate Guardian's already present flight capabilities, making it extremely maneuverable.
  • Left Shoulder: Another full vectoring thruster.
  • Right Hand: A rapid-fire laser gun.
  • Left Hand: A blaster that fires a superheated plasma disk that's usually enough to slice entire limbs off a Sentry II.
  • Torso: The torso houses several flares.

Appearance: The entire thing is a really bright neon yellow. Other than that and the big vectoring jets, it's not too different from a normal Gate Guardian..

Notes: This is only Jameson's current useable mech. He's in the process of heavily modding a Grand Titan with Supernova parts to create something he has dubbed the Scorching Flare.

"I'm working on it!" I snapped, dodging laser fire as best I could while trying to line up another shot on the Fire Vulture.

I cut off, flying forward to draw fire, and hopefully draw them closer in as laser rounds splattered across my Battle Machine, scoring a few good hits.

I unleashed a hail of my own at the Sentrys with the laser minigun as I took a less well aimed shot at the turbofan with the Laser cannon.

Name: STRK-557

Gender: Masculine programming

Age: Unknown

Species: Robot

Appearance: A Silver Devastator drone with slight battle damage and a large splash of dark red paint on the right side of the face and head.

Skill(s): STRK lives and breathes combat. He strikes hard and fast, and does not give up.

Personality: STRK's code is littered with glitches and errors, making him the closest robot equivalent to insane there ever was. Out of battle he is obsessed with taking care of his mech, dropping everything he's doing to fix even the slightest scratch in the paint. Additionally, he doesent let anyone touch his mech.

Weakness(es): As previously mentioned, STRK is basically insane. He doesent care for tactics or techniques, preferring to charge directly into combat. This often leads him into traps and ambushes. Additionally, he often has to reboot because of a major recurring glitch in his system.

Mech:

Designation: DCM-12

Type: Sentry

Equipment:

  • Right Shoulder: Gatling Laser, Small
  • Left Shoulder: Gatling Laser, Small
  • Right Hand: Energy Blade, attached to bottom of arm
  • Left Hand: Automatic Laser Cannon, Medium
  • Torso: FSS (Full Shielding System) mounted on the back is capable of projecting a shield around the entire mech for a short time.

Appearance: Standard sentry, has splashes of dark red paint on it.

"On it!" The foreign pilot yelled back, literally vaulting over the railing to grab onto the Zephyr's frame and haul himself up to the shoulder. Most of the machine's functionality had been restored, but it wasn't pretty. Half the plating on it needed a new coat of paint, for one, but that wasn't the issue right now. It still needed armor restoration, and half the panels needed to be sealed back up from the repairs. Up on its shoulders, Abe was working on both.

"I still need to troubleshoot the transformation mechanism, but a system scan'll need to suffice." The words flew even faster than his fingers moved, almost too quick to follow. If he hadn't been talking to Gwen. "Right bicep needs armor, stripping that pieces from that junker Hunter should do. Lower back panels need to be bolted in, and weapons reattached."

IC:

"The operation left them highly... Zealous." Panzer observed, clasping its digits behind its back. "Specialized teams would be highly effective. A single command, artillery, and light attack unit per squad would work nicely, I think. Your input on the specifications for their units would be helpful, as well. I've added  you to the project's clearance list, so you're welcome to associate with the pilots as you wish."

OOC: Is it possible for a pilot to have multiple mechs?

IC: Maxonn was about to take position on an abandoned bridge almost point blank to the golden city. He was climbing at 800 Km/h. He landed on the bridge, kneeled down on one knee, brought his shield in front of the cockpit and and zoomed in on the robot side of the Tenchi bridge. Whatever came out of that gate was about to have a very, very bad day.

OOC: Is it possible for a pilot to have multiple mechs?

Yes and no. Yes in the sense that so far people have gotten temporary Battle Machines if their main is out of commission, but two mechs completely their own wouldn't sit well with those in charge. For the humans, at least, they are fighting a losing battle, after all. Robots probably have multiple versions of their own mech, however, depending on how high up they are in the ranks.

IC: Robot Force

With a few mechanical words over the comm, the first Sentry charged forward to intercept the incoming hail of laser rounds, while the second braced itself to fire its twin rockets. The lasers pelted the armor of the forward robot, a few shots taking some plating with them as they dissipated. Not that it mattered, as a much higher power beam of energy tore through the battle machine, closely followed by a shout over Vale's communication.

"Got 'em!"

Meanwhile, the Fire Vulture had been waiting to strike, and found its chance as Vale drew closer. The Devastator took aim with its modified weapon, before unleashing an arcing beam of electrical power at the lone pilot.

And cue CR-CRINK! CR-CRINK! as I started bolting in the lower plates.

IC:

"On it!" Abraham repeated, turning around to drop from the shoulders down to the mech's open cockpit. Primary weapon systems had been undamaged during the last fight, but some of the auxiliaries hadn't been so fortunate. Beam rifle and missiles were check, shield had been patched up, left shoulder gun was clear, right had a warning light. He'd check that in a minute. Blade of the Zephyr's sword, on the other hand, had to be cut entirely anew from fresh metal. Not impossible, since they had the original specs, but it wasn't quite perfect. Didn't have time to make it any better, though. He'd have to deal with the minor bugs.

He waved at another engineer, indicating for him to bring the patched sword over for installation. He himself hauled up on the edges of the cockpit, headed back towards the shoulders. He needed to make sure the right hand gun was clear.

IC:

"One more thing." The Devastator stepped over to a wall console, taking a fraction of a second to bring up his personal files and access the one he desired. Then he beckoned Soho over, stepping back so he could see the display. "As an expert on humans, I would like your input on this design. It's been something of a pet project, coming up with something to more effectively combat the humans."

"As someone fascinated by their tactics, what are your thoughts?"

Bolting in plates was an easy job -- , that's usually what we kept the newbie engineers busy with until we trusted them enough with the big guns. They claim that I was one of the few exceptions to that rule, going straight from week-one bolting to weapons repair in week two since (and I quote), "We're running out of genuine engineers, so grab me anyone who can hold a wrench without whacking themselves in the face and who knows not to expose people to open vats of chemical." Apparently I made one of those qualifications, so, there I was.

What am I doing again?

Right, yeah, bolting. So, the bolting was done in a jiffy, and soon enough I was over by the Hunter, unbolting its plates as fast I could.

IC:

"Interesting," Soho said, digits tapping away at the computer, accessing one document after another related to the file at hand. "Quite the design. I particularly enjoy the armaments, I must admit. Taking a nod from the Oz, I can only imagine."

For a brief moment, the LEDs of one of the machine's eyes shut off. The closest thing it could get to a wink.

IC Sarcen Vale:

Guns, I'd been ready for. Fire, I'd been ready for, after all, it's called a Fire Vulture. Missiles I'd even been ready for. But freaking electric arcing weapons?!

I was not prepared for that.

Such as it was, I tried to dodge out of the way, but electricity is a funny thing, and it almost jumped to meet the left wing, frying it, and giving me quite the teeth rattling.

With only one functioning wing, my ability to fly was severely hampered. The Robot had done exactly what I'd been trying to do to it!

still descending, I let off an Alpha Strike, firing all weapons at the Fire Vulture.

  • 2 weeks later...

IC:

"I'm trying!" Visual inspection of the right hand gun turned up nothing out of the ordinary, so Abraham was already in motion again, dropping from the Zephyr's shoulders back down to the cockpit. A quick pull of the trigger sent the gun spinning to life (unloaded! He wasn't that reckless) at the proper speed. He could hear the mechanisms all functioning as they should, even if the sound sent a few engineers ducking for cover before they realized what was up.

"Soon as we install the sword, weapons should be set."

IC:

"Ah. One of your... Experiments, with human behavior. That makes a degree more sense."
