Hahli Husky
In light of the recent loss of the archives, I am allowing authors to repost their stories that were contained in the Library archives. If you didn't repost them within the limit I had given, back when we moved to this board, you are welcome to post them now. Please note that there is a feature enabled on these boards that will merge double posts made within a certain time frame. You may wish to repost a chapter once per day. There is no limit to when you can no longer repost stories. You can do it now, or next year if you wish. You are only allowed to repost stories that were written by you. Thank you very much for understanding; feel free to ask any questions here.
Sir Kohran
You are only allowed to repost stories that were written by you. Why? What about saving stories by inactive members who aren't here to do so themselves?

I don't think saving them would technically be an issue, but posting them could create some very... complicated issues. Inactive members always have the chance of returning, and some may not wish for their works to be reposted. This isn't about trying to preserve the old Library; it's just a chance for active members to continue sharing their works.
Sir Kohran
Inactive members always have the chance of returning, and some may not wish for their works to be reposted. I would've thought they'd be happy that people like their work enough to preserve it. And if for some reason they really don't want their works reposted here, couldn't they just request their removal?

In addition to not knowing the wishes of the previous authors and whether or not they may return and wish to post themselves, the administration and I don't want the Library overrun with old stories. I'm sorry, but the answer will continue to be no.
25K Now!
Well you could download any old stories but not upload them. You can keep it for your own perusal, nothing more. Quote http://vimeo.com/198967785 BZPRPG Profiles
TinkerTech
Unfortunately, most of the old stories have been lost due to the huge corruption of data. I went in to try and save some old classics (My Life with the Bionicles and Bornicle, for example) only to find the last page, if I was lucky. often I would click a link only to find... nothing. The entire topic had been erased. I with there was a way we could collaborate and save these amazing stories. (Not on the forums, but in documents for personal perusal) Sadly, the original authors have left BZP, likely during the Dataclysm or the rocky downtimes that followed. And with the archives the way they are, they are likely gone forever, scattered chapters drifting on the ebbs and tides of the internet. Lesson learned: if you really like a fan-fic, save your own copy for protection against hackers. Quote Defy Expectations
Hahli Husky
I would recommend trying the Internet Wayback Machine to see if you can find what you're looking for. The data is very spotty, especially for caches made when the server gave out busy messages or crashed in the afternoons and evenings (notably between 2005 - 2008.) You might have to navigate extensively, especially since the subforum links on the main forum listing are often broken. I've been able to find a couple things so far. It's upsetting that we weren't able to save our favorite old stuff before the archives were broken, but hopefully that helps some!
TinkerTech
I've been using it, and I have found a few chapters here and there. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have anything past the first page a specific comedy, so I can only get bits and pieces. I've been collecting what I do find into word documents, so hopefully others can contribute and we can eventually finish them completely. Comedies I've started collecting: BornicleMy Life with the BioniclesQuest for the Great Comedy Masks of Power Now, I haven't been a member of the site forever (although looking back, it seems like it) so there are probably a bunch of gold mines that I don't know about. Let me know and I'll do what I can to start saving them. Quote Defy Expectations
25K Now!
The Wayback Machine is a bit hard to use when searching through BZPower. Everything seems to be in a massive list. Quote http://vimeo.com/198967785 BZPRPG Profiles
Hahli Husky
Yeah it can be really testy like that. It took me about 40 minutes just to find one topic and get it to display well. Some years look better than others. Not sure of what else to use since the Google caches were written over by the blank pages, but if anyone finds another way, please feel free to share. Ballom Nom Nom
I wrote a trilogy of epics that were on the old forums. Would I be able to have just a single review topic for all three reposted epics here?~B~

I regretfully never imagined all of that being deleted back in 2003, so very very little has survived in my possession. I remember reading comments from fans at the time who had been collecting and saving the story on their own computers, but I have no idea if they are still active. Clearly, I am the author of BORNICLE, so that explains my interest in this (in case that wasn't patently obvious). TinkerTech
Wow, I haven't even thought about this in a bit. (College can be crazy at times.) I don't think I ever got beyond rescuing a few chapters of each, but I'm willing to take another stab at it since it's summer and I don't have anything else to do outside of work.
