So... On BZP's birthday, I started a blog, expecting it to stop allowing me to make entries after the 7th day. It didn't. I've been allowed to do almost everything with my blog. Is there a glitch in the system?

I'm no coder, but I do know the reasoning for this; once you create a blog there is no level in the code that says "no more entries." The permissions in this case are for the actual creation of the blog. If you buy Premier Membership, make a blog, and then it expires, the same thing will happen. I believe it is in the blog wars that after you lose your perks it is against the rules to post entries, so this is less of a mistake on the staff's part and a shortcoming of the system that will probably have to be explained for the next few weeks or so until people catch on.

I found this in the Blog HQ; while it says bumping, it still falls under the same idea as posting new entries.

Blog entry bumping by normal (Non-Premier) members is not allowed.

I found this in the Blog HQ as well:

I started a blog when I was Premier/on BZP's birthday, and I'm not a Premier Member (now). Can I still use my blog?Short answer: No.The blog is visible and you have a few powers such as drafting/publishing entries and editing them, but you will not be able to edit your blog's appearance, launch new content blocks, start new entries or approve new comments [if applicable]. However if you eventually do pay for Premier Membership, you will be able to use that same blog again. If you have a blog but aren't Premier, keep in mind these rules.

Problem is, unless that was changed recently, it doesn't do that. Creating new entries should be one of the permissions set for individual member groups, unless Invision REALLY messed something up in the latest versions. Especially considering there were no problems like this last year, or after the 2011 blog extension finished. This is the first time since the new version that this has even popped up, to my knowledge; so theoretically, that shouldn't be the cause.

The ability to create new blog entries has everything to do with the permissions assigned to member groups. So yes, it is entirely possible to completely disable access; that is how it has always worked.

From personal experience several years ago when I was part of a small member group that was forgotten when resetting the others, you should indeed not keep making entries, even if you have the ability to do so. As others have pointed out, it is likely that this is simply something that was not done while busy prepping for BrickFair. It will be changed, but in the meantime, you should not take advantage of it.
