IC:

The Ve-Toa practically cackled while she watched Alfon extricate himself from the massive Ba-Toa's grip, shaking her head while she laughed. She conjured an apple with her element and tossed it to Onuzek, flashing the huge Toa a thumbs-up when she did, before she turned her attention back to Alfon. She didn't like kids much, but watching him try and deal with a little girl was hysterical.

Last I checked, the commander wasn't a dude. Still, I wouldn't really have known since I've never actually seen Skyra in the flesh, so I wasn't about to debate her gender with who was apparently her younger sister.

A sheepish smile came over me. "Small world, eh?" I said, looking over my shoulder. "Hey, you know we should do? We should play a game."

IC: Alfon

For the record, I love games. Can't live without 'em. Even as a grown man, if someone asked me to play tag with them, you can bet your house that I'll commit my life and soul to catching to the match. So when Mimira asked me what kind of game we should play, I almost tripped on the sheer amount I had dancing on my tongue.

"Well..." I looked around. Whatever we played, it had to be simple indoorsy stuff. My first few ideas hit close to the classics, juvenile games like truth or dare, never have I ever, musical chairs, beer pong, charades, naked twister, the list goes on. Then I remembered that we had a kid around, and those weren't always appropriate.

But hey, she hung out with pirates. Couldn't totally account for her innocence with that on the board.

"How about we start with two truths and a lie? It's easy to play, all you gotta do is tell two truths about yourself, and a convincing lie; the others, as a group, only get one shot to figure out which one's the lie. Once they speak up and you tell them whether they're right or wrong, turn's done and you move on to the next person. Rinse and repeat."

While everyone made sense of the rules, I took the opportunity to settle into a chair.

"For example, I'll start. I can speak Skakdi fluently, I've never been to jail, and I have a plaque with my name on it at a karaoke bar in Ga-Koro. Go."

"Gunner's got it right, actually. The only thing in Ga-Koro with my name on it is a bathroom stall I vandalized as a kid; pretty sure I wrote something basic like 'Alfon wuz hear'."

I kicked my feet up, propping them on another chair.

"But yeah, never did time. Not 'cause I'm a good citizen, just 'cause I never got caught, y'know?"

IC: Selris - Ta-Koro

Unimpressed with the guards, he simply decided to let himself into the Koro. Allowing his traveling cloak to droop off of him slightly due to the sheer heat of the area he glanced around, attempting to find someone who was more knowledgable about the area.

OOC: Skorm from Po-Wahi

IC: Bearing up on the walls of Ta-Koro, Skorm reflected on the last time he had visited. It almost seemed trivial; tracking down Casanuva, intimidating an innkeeper and exfiltrating by walking over the walls. Well, if he was going to do this whole 'good guy making amends' thing, he might as well start there. His cloak was stained in soot and ash from the charcoal forest, but the cowl was still up. The oppressive heat was making him start to reconsider, though. He carried his sheathed saber over his shoulder rather than at his hip; he couldn't draw it quickly like he would at his hip, but it banged around less, and he didn't think he would need it.

He brushed past an onu-matoran as he made his way to the gates. Something about the way the matoran was glancing around made the massive Ba-Toa stop, and look back.

"You there," he said, "Matoran. You look lost."

OOC: That's Selris.

Selris glanced behind him as he heard a voice seemingly refer to him. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he noted that the being responsible for it was a Toa. Ridiculously large beings – one of the reasons he usually stayed in his cave in Onu-Koro. He decided his response would be brief to avoid as much conversation as possible.

"...I-I seek whatever area holds merchants and traders." He bluntly stated. He noted that he seemed to have adopted a slight stutter for some reason. How long has it been since he's spoken?

IC: Skorm glanced back at the walls. "I've only been here one other time. I think there's a central marketplace."

The Ba-Toa looked the onu-matoran up and down, noting his equipment and travelling cloak. It didn't look very worn, but then again, neither did Skorm's, he reflected. "What, are you selling something? Buying? You look more like an... engineer than a merchant."

IC: Silo - Ta-Koro

I have to admit that there's a slight swagger to my stride as I step into Ta-Koro, that fiery fortress of a city. I know deep down that I'm getting overconfident, but I don't care! For now, at least, I'll savour the taste of smug  victory, and enjoy the next couple of days. Yes...and when I find Rekhyt, I'll have a chance to catch up on current events. On the other hand, there might be another way, I think as I catch sight of a stand selling news-tablets. I don't have more than a few widgets on me, left over from my satchel's supply - almost all were paid to that irksome guard, with only those in my pocket left. If I bother to pay just to get informed, I'll be penniless...but I don't want to nick something just yet: I've had enough of cells for one day. No, no, I won't do it. I won't.

...

OK, I just might.

I help the salesman up as he mysteriously trips over his own feet, falling especially heavily onto the ground. I give him my best smile as he thanks me profusely, my body hiding the tablet I slip into my bag. See? I've always been a model citizen, I reflect as I continue on my journey, reading the tablet thoughtfully. I know, its bad: I should be able to resist myself, stop myself randomly committing what some people might call crimes. But unfortunately I'm in too much of a good mood at the moment to let my basically flawed character bring my down, so I carry on my way, mulling over what my next course of action will be. All the while I'm scrutinizing the news, looking for anything other than run-of-the-mill reports and everyday articles whose relevance to the bigger picture is nil.

OOC: Silo, a merc who has just got out of jail, is open for interaction with anyone in Ta-Koro :D

IC: Skorm grunted in satisfaction. "I thought so. I used to be an engineer myself, before... well, back when I was just a stubby little ba-matoran."

Turning around, Skorm pushed back his hood. He hoped the sight of the stains on his mask weren't too offputting. "C'mon, I can show you where the market is. If you're going to be staying here, there's an inn I need to drop by anyway."

Without a word, he begrudgingly trailed behind the Toa.

IC: This wasn't entirely for the matoran's benefit, Skorm reflected. Passing by the gate guards with company may deflect some potential... suspicion. Skorm put his hood back up as he approached the guards at the gate. He tugged the tip and nodded at the guard as he passed.

He tried to ignore the stare he received back.

Skorm wound through the crowds. Lots of ko-matoran; he had heard of the refugees. He might have to do something about that. He briefly considered the possibility of the onu-matoran losing sight of him, and realized it was next to impossible at his height. "Engineer. Hmm. I don't think I got your name."

"Ehhhh, it. I'll go." Another scar on the wood floor appeared while Skrihen dragged her chair closer to the rest of the group. She flipped it around so she could sit backwards on it and rest her arms on the back, and cleared her throat while she settled comfortably. She conjured another apple and took a large bite, running the game's rules through her head and thinking good and hard. The unusual composition of the group didn't give her any pause, but she was definitely taking her contribution seriously. "Two truths and a lie, huh?"

"I'm not from Mata-Nui, I used to work for the Sanctum Guard as a contractor, and I fought a Toa of Shadow."

As I'm reading, absorbing petty scraps of information at a cynically slow pace, I'm so absorbed myself that I don't notice the bulky Ba-Toa I knock into until I've done so. I glare at them, but it's only a half-hearted glare, and only for show - I'm sure I've already told you that I'm in an uncharacteristically good mood. Still, words of mild annoyance are forming in my mouth, but, looking at this stranger, I stop myself: there's something odd, and oddly familiar about him...no, it's not the strange stain on his mask...and no, it's not the silly cape...something about his armour, perhaps? It reminds me of something else, but I can't think what. I pause for a second as we look at each other, but finally say "Do I know you?" in a slightly bored-sounding voice.

"Mother######er, Skri. Talk about a softball."

At least, the Ta-Koro Party People were fully reunited - Taleen had walked into the bar first, followed by the Toa Maru of Ice, with a Toa of Lightning wearing blocky boxing gloves akin to a toy robot's fists parked squarely on his shoulders. Ducking nimbly to avoid taking her head off with the doorframe, Reordin shook Plagia off brusquely (albeit with the faintest hints of a grin on the left corner of his mouth) and walked over to the bar, motioning for a beer. The beleaguered bartender who had been serving various parts of the procession all afternoon slid one over; Reo chilled it with a touch and then twisted the cap off with his fist.

"Half the people here saw you duke it out with Heuani at the Hive, and everyone knows Karzahni itself assigned you the plum position of harassing me for my sins. You've done as much work for the Sanctum Guard as I have the last few years."

IC: Skorm didn't back off as he looked down at the inattentive toa. He'd never seen this one before.

"Possibly. I don't know you, though."

The massive Ba-Toa narrowed his eyes as he ran through the possibilities in his head. Did the villages on this island use bounty hunters? Maybe Ga-Koro sent this one?

"Holy , she's--"

The Toa Maru's head snapped to behold his Ve-Toa ex; his eyes had widened imperceptibly, and he shuffled down the length of the bar, closer to Alfon.

"--I will kill you for this," he hissed under his breath. "Do you have any idea what she's like when she's sobering up?"

Yes...it must be something about his armour...or the way he spoke, maybe? His accent seems foreign.

"Really?" I ask idly, searching my mind. He looks like the goody-goody kinda toa: I mean you'd have to be with such a pristine white cape, just asking to be dirtied. I pause for a second, eyebrow raised. "Say...you don't happen to be part of a toa team, do you?

OOC: Actually, Skorm's cloak is currently quite dirty; its covered in ash and soot.

IC: A loaded question, indeed.

"I... you could say I was part of the Toa Kalta. Last I knew, most of us were scattered across this island. You might have met one of them."

Skorm adjusted his shoulder to push back up his saber.

IC: Alfon

"Nah, trust me Reo, she is," I snickered, beckoning Reo closer before whispering to him, "Some girl at the casino went to third base on her elbow and she didn't even notice."

I glanced at Skri, vividly recalling the scene. 'Course, I was exaggerating but only for effect.

"But don't worry pal, I'll be there to weather the storm by your side. We'll be in the same boat, after all."

Ba dum tss!

"Alfon..."

Even before the curses flew to his lips and evil thoughts could cloud his head, Reordin turned to see another familiar Toa of Ice already standing in Alfon's shadow. He seemed to revel in the spot, grin spreading even as a vein threatened to pulse out of the Toa Maru's forehead. For his eyes, and his eyes only, the Toa reached out and grabbed Alfon, throttling the loudmouthed Toa and making exaggerated rattling noises in his throat. His tongue was lolling out playfully.

Alfon didn't seem to mind.

"...Whatever." With a reproachful glare, the passenger in his head stepped out of Alfon's shadow and slinked back somewhere inside Reo's head, leaving him free to turn to Skri. "So go ahead, Skri. Tell us what the lie is."
