IC: Khil'rayu (T.O.Y.S Store-->Ko-Koro Streets)

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Dayeth out in the street, slinging fireballs and calling someone a spy. "Excuse me," I say politely, getting up from the table. I leave the shop, and discover the being Dayeth was attacking hooked into a wall. Wordlessly, I let loose a bolt of cyan Disintegration energy from my hand, aimed towards the hostile's chest.

Eventually arriving at the village gate, looking much worse for wear, she stood before the guards, her tone a warning to any that were thinking about messing with her despite the fact that she bore enough injuries to cause a lesser being to pass out.

"I am Dravennica, ally of Legacy," she declared. "And this is my newly acquired slave, Celphrithia. We wish to be allowed to enter the city."

IC (Ko-Koro Gate Guards)

The Lesterin guard captain took one look at Dravennica, recognised her as one of those aligned to the Legacy, and nodded. The guards stepped aside.

IC: Cyrix wearily groaned as he deactivated his Volitak. "Oh thank Artakha you're doing it. I'm just about done for the night." He closed the shutters on the windows, then leaned against the wall, sliding down into a sitting position. He took out his crossbow and unloaded it, inspecting it for damage from the cold.

Aelied, bemused to find the toa waiting for them, approached. Upstairs was pretty desolate; perhaps this had once been living quarters, but after the looting it was indistinguishable from a storeroom, with scattered broken furniture. Slowly, he sat on the floor crosslegged, laying his green staff in his lap. "Ah, it feels good to sit. I admit, the cold weather doesn't agree with me."

The ancient Bo-Toa looked at the hooded stranger. "But, as cold as it is, I'm not bundled up from head to toe, like you are. And, what you are wearing isn't exactly insulated. So, that tells me that you have other reasons for wearing that, Le-Toa. I assume because showing your mask would be dangerous. Of course, there are lots of reasons you might not want your mask shown. Perhaps a bounty on it, like one of my unfortunate subordinates, or because the toa behind it is not... welcome, here in the new Ko-Koro."

Aelied gestured to him and Cyrix. "But where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself. Here in Ko-Koro, I am known as the herbalist Ayeuz, and my bodyguard downstairs as Deilea. You, however, can call me Aelied, leader of the Toa Kalta. Downstairs is Zueya, my student, still learning the ways of being a Toa. This is Cyrix, infiltration and reconnaissance specialist for the Kalta."

Cyrix looked up from his disassembled crossbow for a moment, while Aelied continued. "I have kept his existence a secret from the rest of the Kalta. He has made his own way into the Koro, much like I suspect you did. We three came here because we learned from some injured refugees we rescued that the Legacy is keeping hostages. As long as these hostages remain, the Legacy shall be unchallenged by the other Koros. If they are bold enough to move with the innocents still at risk..." the Bo-Toa trailed off.

"Move to minimize civilian casualties," Cyrix finished. "Either way, those hostages are a fulcrum that's keeping this place up."

Aelied nodded. "Cyrix is correct. In addition... they are innocent matoran. Any true toa would be trying to do the same."

IC

The Toa nodded slowly.

"Yes..." he said. "They would, wouldn't they?"

He looked very carefully at Aelied and Cyrix in turn. Then, judging by his body language, he seemed to relinquish at least some of his wariness: he unfolded his arms, and his shoulders slid into a slightly more relaxed posture. The two Kalta had likely noticed how effortlessly he seemed to maintain the vacuum around them.

"Well, unless this is a very elaborate Legacy sting operation, it seems I can trust you—with my identity, at least," he said, with a hint of resignation. "As you suspect, Aelied, I'm not keen on letting Ko-Koro's new management know who I am. Fortunately, the kind of people they attract tend to be keen on the whole cloak-and-dagger get-up, so it's helped me blend in thus far."

With two fingers he pulled down the black cloth mask to reveal his mouth and chin, and then reached up to draw back the hood. The strangely-woven fabric slid off the corners of a Kanohi of unique shape, sleek and aerodynamic, coloured verdant green. His eyes, not wary and yellowish as they had seemed in the gloom, were as golden as those of an eagle and glowed with just as much pride and ferocity.

"My name is Korero of the Toa Maru," he said, "and I'm on the hunt."

OOC: Nice april fools joke, its Echelon in disguise, isn't it? :P

IC: Aelied nodded slowly, an inscrutable look in his eyes. "It is an honor to meet you, Korero. Who, or what, are you hunting?"

Cyrix raised an eyebrow. He had heard of the Toa Maru when he first arrived in Le-Koro, but never seen them. The island's protectors, by all accounts, inheritors of the Mata's power. Explained the vast difference in control, at least.

IC: Mortem - Ko-Koro streets

I sigh, but inside I feel great joy at the opportunity to finally destroy something...

"This one's mine." I growl to Khil and Xaru, striding outside...I hear what this stranger has to say, and laugh - Dayeth is known here...how could he be so stupid?

Fear not, he will die for his sins.

IC: Celphrithia, Dravennica, and Shredder - Ko-Koro (Streets)

Dravennica pushed Celphrithia into the city, giving the Lesterin a silent nod as the other guards stepped aside. Gritting her teeth as she stumbled forwards, she eventually came across the area where Dayeth (and now Khil'rayu, Mortem, and an unknown Skakdi, it seemed) were in the process of either apprehending or eliminating someone. Using her powers to tighten the collar of ice around the Onu-Toa's neck, her captive stopped, falling into the snow as she used it to force her to the ground over by a nearby bench. Taking a seat and unsheathing her sword in order to use it to prevent herself from falling forwards as Shredder curled up around her feet and began licking her leg, she decided to use some of her remaining energy to do what she could to aid them, hoping that she wouldn't immediately pass out from the exertion.

Can't just sit back and let them have all the fun...

If the being that had previously been hanging from the rooftop did manage to avoid the Skakdi's Disintegration blast, he would soon find all the accumulated snow on top of the building he had been clinging to falling towards him in an attempt to bury him in the street.

OOC: My bad, Ghidora; I didn't see the part where he let go. Fixed it.

OOC: He's not hooked into the wall anymore. I stated that IC.

IC Rinnoz

Rinnoz didn't get to the status he was from sitting around all day. With a fancy flare, he sidestepped the Disintegration blast, then slightly surprised by a clump of snow hitting the ground behind him. Right behind him.

With a groan, He suddenly licked the claws on the ends of his fingers. Should anybody be foolish enough to attack him physically, one cut in the body would lead to quick, painless unconsciousness. He got into a fighting stance, remembering to keep wary of the being on the roof. Someone deliberately kicked the snow.

IC: Dayeth - Streets.

"Let me clarify something for you," Dayeth said smoothly, summoning up a new fireball in her hand, "this is a small town. Everyone here knows everyone else, and they know that I'm no traitor...."

With that, she flung the fireball, but not at Rinnoz. Instead, it splashed across the snow directly in front of him, resulting in a blinding eruption of steam, which would hopefully distract him long enough for someone else to get in a surprise attack.

IC: Celphrithia, Dravennica, and Shredder - Ko-Koro (Streets)

Not wanting to risk losing conciousness over another elemental attack, she turned her attention to Shredder, who was giving her a look as if he was wondering whether or not to join the battle.

"Sic 'em."

Without a moment's hesitation, the Kavinika bound forward, using Dayeth's previous attack as cover as he aimed to sink his teeth into his prey's leg.

IC: Mortem - Ko-Koro streets

I nod to Dravennica...she looks injured, but I can ask later. "Move your pet." I growl.

Sickly green energy crackles across my grey-green armour, flowing like water to my fingertips...I place my clawed hand to the ground, the metallic talons of the natural gauntlet resting briefly on Ko-Koro's granite-hard permafrost soil before--

-- a deafening blast envelops the street as lightning-fast fissures erupt from my hand, surging towards the enemy and demolishing the ground in their way.

-IC:-

In response to the question posed by Sylus, I move my gaze back to Vezok and his Matoran companion. “Did the Vortixx offer any estimations of her absence's length?” The question is flat, disinterested at best. My mental processes are pre-occupied by several contingencies of middling concern, removing any hint of emotion or passion from my gaze. A corpse's empty stare, and a corpse's frozen half-smile.

I smile, glad that she understood. A quick survey of the area found Enforcer, still standing near the departed cable car and it's departed quartet. I make my way over to him with deliberate steps. "I've been thinking about our planned investigation, the one into Mangaia and it's Vault. I've come to conclusion it would be best to take a small group, I was thinking of Vandal, myself and perhaps one other. Stealth over numbers."

OOC: Let me know if I missed any attacks.

IC Rinnoz

The fireball in the air was all it took. Rinnoz backflipped into the air as the snow and steam scattered in front of him, unaware to the creature that had darted directly under him. Then, the heavy-power attack came. Not knowing whether or not it hit the creature, since he was oblivious to its existence so far, at least some of the attack hit the wall, tearing a bit of it apart. If it had the power to tear through the ground it couldn't be much better to a building.

He was about to move to the appearing hole when his foot caught on the roof, forcing him to climb up clumsily the other way. If he could get into a crowd that wasn't in the fight, he would be safe. After all, he looked just like a twisted shadow Matoran, complete with the claws, just minus the wings.

IC: Dayeth - Streets.

She wasn't sure where the idiot thought he was going. The walls were being patrolled at all times, the gates were constantly guarded, and once his description started being circulated, he'd be found easily. That weird hump, the spindly figure, the claws, and that unique mask.... no one looked anything remotely like that. He stuck out like an albino Makuta fish.

But she didn't intend for him to get away so easily. Finding easy purchase in the shattered stone, she scrambled up after him, drawing her patero launcher and leveling it at him. "You've got nowhere to run, spy!" she spat. "Just give up!"

Well, he could give up, and hope they didn't kill him. Otherwise, he could loop around in the city until they did. Either way, what kind of a spy would blatantly reveal themselves? plus, he knew that shouting her off as a spy wouldn't work, he just wanted to see what would happen.

"For the last time, I'm not a spy." He said with some annoyance. "But if you insist." He dropped the other important blood sample on the roof and placed his hands on his head.

IC Rinnoz

Not showing any sign of distress, fear, or anger, Rinnoz began calmly walking to the area she had motioned towards. Expecting that the other group would follow him, he questioned if the remaining bit of saliva on his fingers would do anything to plants. Unlikely.

IC: Celphrithia, Dravennica, and Shredder - Ko-Koro (Streets)

Why, hello to you too, Mortem. So glad to see that you've lost none of your charm.

Dravennica ignored the Vortixx's command, not out of spite because of the harshness of his greeting, but out of pure indifference; Shredder was smart enough to get out of the way on his own after launching his attack, and in the event that he wasn't, he would've just proved that he was no longer fit to be by her side.

In other words, if the Makuta-worshipper's attack had killed the Kavinika, she wouldn't have even batted an eye at his passing.

Thankfully for him, however, the time between him skidding to a stop amidst the icy streets and the fragmentation attack impacting the building behind him was long enough for him to recognise the danger and bound safely out of the way. Returning to his master as the others proceeded to detain their target, he began licking her leg once again in an attempt to gain her approval.

"Good... boy..."

Wanting to follow the others and their new prisoner back towards the Sanctum, she began pushing herself off of her sword in order to stand, only to succeed in collapsing on top of it and taking it with her as she fell into a nearby snowbank, too exhausted from her ordeal to even pick herself back up.

"Correct. I know you're good with stealth missions, I believe Vandal will also prove skilled at it. If all the rumours I've heard are correct, the remainder of the Makuta's rahkshi and enslaved rahi dwell down there. Not to mention a sextet of apparently dangerous skakdi. We'll be going in blind to a potential suicide mission, all odds against us."

IC ( Traveler):

He had barely entered the village proper when the sounds of fighting cut through the chill air. He quickly thought about his best course of action. He needed to stay pn the architect and staying out of fights meant staying out of trouble. On the other hand he could make a point and go help the bad guys, proving who's side he was on. He briefly settled on the safe option but facing the Skakdi guard had caused an itch and it wanted scratched. With a small grin he activated his Volitak and made his way towards the noise of elemental attacks.

But by the time he made it there whoever had been found guilty of causing trouble was being led away. As he watched, the dark Toa spotted a figure laying in the snow with a Kavinika at its side. Traveler walked up to her side and decloaked, watching her from behind his skull-like mask passively while holding out a hand for Dravennica to help her up.

"Just exhausted or are you injured?" He asked.

IC: Celphrithia, Dravennica, and Shredder - Ko-Koro (Streets)

Dravennica looked up, too weak to even show surprise at the sudden appearance of the mysterious figure. Oddly enough, however, Shredder and Celphrithia (who had most likely passed out due to her own injuries) showed no reaction to his presence.

Either I made it back to the village and his offer is genuine, or I'm hallucinating and this is the personification of Death itself.

The Ko-Toa felt her body flinch a little, no doubt shedding more light on the areas where her captive had cauterised her wounds or where her needle had previously pierced its way through her lips in order to sew them shut. She felt no need to hide them, especially since the nearby Onu-Toa hadn't fared any better when she had eventually turned the tables on her, for if this was where her journey was to end, there wasn't much point in doing so anyway. Her arms struggled to pick herself back up, her mind racing as to whether she should take his offer or to keep attempting to push herself forward, but in the end, she didn't even get the chance to make the choice.

As her body gave out on her and the world began to fade to black, Dravennica swore that she could feel her hand reaching out to brush against his fingertips as she fell back into the snow.

IC (Agni):

As Utu stumbled, I stopped in my tracks and looked back at the red figure walking in the opposite direction, away from the group. This was the second time...and in Ko-Wahi again no less. I knew why Tuara did it - at least I thought I did understand her reasons well enough to make an educated guess. Chances were I wasn't too far off, if her feelings on the matter were even remotely like mine. But I didn't like it this time any more than the last, with the difference that last time I felt partially responsible. And while that wasn't the case here and as much as I respected her choice, I still felt it wasn't right to just part ways without another word. We were fellow Ta-Koro guards, supposed to stand together - not to mention we were both Toa of fire who'd seen more than enough of our respective share of Muaka dung in our time. And from what I'd heard her's had been quite a bit bigger, so...

"Hey Drigton!"

I hoped my voice managed to cut through the chill wind. She didn't seem to stop, but I thought her body language suggested she could hear the call well enough.

"You take care now, alright Tuara?"

Honestly, I don't know what kind of response I was hoping for that moment. But hey, even no answer is a kind of answer, right? Time to wait and see what would happen. One second...two...

Now one of them had fallen into the snow, and then passed out. Good grief, who were these people, half-drunkards? Attack a guy for asking a simple question, drag him of to most likely an interrogation center, and then take a nap in the snowbank. Yeah, Ko-Koro sure seemed to not be the city of logic so far.

He continued shuffling on, wondering when they would arrive.

IC (Traveler):

I'll take that as a 'yes' to both. the dark Toa thought as Dravennica passed out catching her slumping arm as their hands briefly touched. The Kavinika that rested by her legs snarled, but was too weak to do anything. With his free hand he felt for a pulse, which was fortunately still there. He quickly turned her on her back to get a better look at her injuries. Face down, they had not been very visible but now that they were out in the open the sight was enough to give even the Traveler a moment's pause.

Her armor and metallic epidermis was mostly intact, but whatever soft tissue was visible in the gaps between its plates was swollen, bruised and covered in lacerations that had obviously been roughly cauterized with a heated piece of iron or knife. Judging by the wound's positions and  angles, this wasn't anything self-inflicted, but rather the result of extensive torture. His first instinct was to pick her up, get her somewhere inside and find help, but he stopped himself. If she had been tortured she had been held captive - the question was by whom? She could well be an escaped prisoner on the run - gold armor was not exactly standard Ko-Koro attire these days. On the other hand, only the truly sadistic tortured for their own amusement, most at least had the decency to pretend they wanted information. That their method was most likely a waste of time and self-defeating was of course true as well but the fact that the victim would make up stories to end the suffering didn't quite matter at this moment.

He looked around. He spotted another Toa nearby, dark-armored and likely passed out as well. Just to be save, he checked Dravennica's pulse again, then approached the other Toa to check up on her. Also unconscious, her injuries were far less severe. Still, she probably needed some sort of medical attention too.

The dark Toa thought quickly about how to get them both someplace where they could be treated, then he had an idea. Concentrating, he created to small currents of air - underneath the snow the two Toa were lying on. Holding out both hands he made the current circulate faster and faster, in a way that lifted the Toa and the compacted snow beneath them, making them hover about a hand's width above ground. Then, he turned his palms to face forward and the air-cushions began to move, pushing the Toa along. Following the prisoner escort, he brought them both to the sanctum as well, arriving shortly after Dayeth and his company.

He lowered to Toa back to the ground just as they reached the top of the stairs. "I need some help over here!" he said loud enough for all those present to hear, then immediately focused on Dravennica again, pulling his first-aid kit of herbs and other medicines from one of his poches.

My expression shifted back to a serious one. "Right then, I'm going to go collect Vandal and my equipment. You can tell Zero of our plans. I'm sure she'll appreciate having more people here to man the fort." After the Vortixx nodded in affirmation, I turned and made my way for the east bulwark. Coming to my room, I opened the door. It was still a mess, as always. Bits of ash and metal scattering the northern half of the room.

I sighed, the mess could wait. I made my way to the northern wall, it contained a vast array of weapons and equipment. Even as a Fe-Toa, I had learned long ago that creating weapons in advance was much more efficient than doing so on the fly. Stockpiling them over time let me conserve my elemental energies for other uses in dangerous situations. I took my chain bolas and a short sword, buckling it and it's scabbard to the right of my hip. I gathered a variety of small tools and first aid equipment as well, quickly packing it all into a satchel and tossing it over my back, finally, I took my traveling cloak off my bed and put it on. It was always good to have some type of protection from the elements, even in the balmy jungles around Kini-Nui.

It was also quite stylish.

...but close to it
