IC (Oreius, Inu)

Korero brought good tidings. Oreius quickened his pace, leaving melted tracks behind him as he strode through the snow. They appeared to make it out of the gate undetected, but the Toa Maru doubted it was true. Surely Echelon wouldn't leave Ko-Koro unguarded while he dealt darkness in the Sanctum.

* * *

IC (Cael)

The group waited outside the walls, and then the Matoran arrived. Led by a Toa of Fire whose slight hunch and strange mask betrayed him as Oreius, Toa Maru of Fire, and accompanied by others who kept watchful eyes out for any threat. The two parties exchanged few words; Oreius Maru seemed distracted, Cael thought, and his eyes kept darting back to the icy city.

The Ko-Matoran themselves looked mostly stoic, as was their wont. Merror led the way, and Agni brought up the rear as they escorted these last survivors into the swirling snow. The Toa of Water looked back only once, and saw Oreius marching back into Ko-Koro, each step slow and measured.

* * *

OOC Gear and Fifth, Revekk and Kimala can go with the Matoran if you like, or can follow Oreius back into the city. I'll leave that up to you. Not entirely sure how we're gonna coordinate with Tyler's timeskip yet.

IC: Revekk (Ko-Koro, Gates)

The realization that I'd helped bring the Matoran out safely helped my tired limbs muster some extra resolve. Upon seeing Oreius march back into the city, I nodded in farewell to the others and set off after him.

IC-Aurorin and NPC

"Who'd have thought that a homicidal robot assassain would make you have a change of heart?" Aurorin said. "Well, I certainly didn't, but i did know one Toa who was-"

The Doctor cleared his throat.

"Right..." Aurorin stated. "So, what's our next plan of action?"

IC: Dravennica scowled for a moment as the Ta-Matoran addresses the rest of the Sanctum's inhabitants. It was true that she did not have much cause to look up while Khil'rayu was leading Skulk and herself through the city, but the times she did, she would've remembered seeing a Toa flying through the air if it had happened. Then again, she had arrived late to the battle, so maybe he had returned to the ground by the time she had looked...

In any case, it didn't really matter; they now had knowledge that he was indeed inside the city, which left her eagerly waiting for Echelon to decide how they were going to "remedy" the situation.

The Ko-Toa heard the Fe-Toa speak as he approached, hoping that he wouldn't end up saying anything that would lead Echelon to kill him where he stood; if they were in fact going Maru-hunting, they would need all the help they could get.

"Hey, Rekhyt! Kick the Karz out of this guy so we can decide which of us is better at sarcasm when it's my turn to fight!" Verulas shouted, knowing full well that the opponent for his trial most likely would not be the Fa-Toa, but deciding to give the give the guy a good reason to give it his best shot anyway.

Septima chuckled as she stared at the Bo-Toa, silently wondering how much energy he possessed and recalling that it had been a long time since she had had this much fun. The Fe-Toa knew that she could not stay long, and that she would soon have to return to the reality of her situation, but she saw no harm in letting the moment play out for just a while more.

A gust of wind blew his cape back, catching her eye as the pouches of widgets tied to his belt swayed in the breeze. It was unbelievably tempting to take them right then and there, as everyone but her was either spectating the fight or conversing with each other, but she stayed her hand. She knew that what she had would run out eventually and that she would have to steal again at some point, but now was not the time; on the off-chance that she was caught, she would be facing way too many foes to escape, and even if she was able too by some miracle, they controlled the cable car leading into Ta-Koro. No, she would wait for a moment where the odds were more in her favor before she made her move. Perhaps she could convince him to acompany her on her way back to the cable car...?

Satisfied that the sacrificial Ta-Toa wouldn't be trying to escape again anytime soon, Zenithex exited the room once more, fully prepared to aid Sir Weiss as the Lesterin saw him charge at the remaining heathens.

Rek overheard Enf and the others speaking and smiled. What was the point in throwing away your weapons, exept to pick them back up again when your enemy was least expecting it...

He grinned at Verulas' comment.

I have to admit, Dayeth's response is good, but is it that good?

I stare intently, waiting to see what will happen next...

IC: The Deceiver (Ko-koro, Sanctum)

She stood there like a statue, unmoving while others talked, waiting patiently. But hearing about the people who had defeated the Dark God itself made her intrested about hearing more details. Like she had assumed, the heathen 'heroes' were Toa, part of a team called the Toa Maru. They had somehow slain a god. The Deceiver highly doubted that. Mere mortals cannot kill a god, especially someone as mighty as the Shadow Spirit. There must be something else, she thought. She would need to ask some questions later..

IC Zealot

The Zealot smiled at her curiosity. His finger began to trace the grooves along his armor, "you see this?" he pointed to the engraved runes that covered his armor in blue "It is the law that is written on all of our hearts. Not a law layed down by Turaga or Akiri, but the Law of Mata Nui" Zealot's eyes were in constant state of observation, they seemed to pierce through the haze that dimmed the lesterin's amber eyes.

"I follow my own creed"

IC: Dayeth.

"It appears I overestimated your abilities," Dayeth said carefully, "I had assumed that one as resourceful and powerful as yourself, with an entire army at your disposal and the city practically in the palm of your hand, would have already been informed of the Maru precence. I only mentioned it because you asked."

She decided to elaborate a little further. "When I arrived in the city he was flying over it. Are you trying to say that I am the first to tell you that he was here?" she looked to the room's other occupants in disbelief. "Did no one in this entire city see him flying above it?"

IC (Echelon)

As with Londar mere minutes before, tongues of shadow suddenly sprang up across Dayeth's neck. The Matoran instinctively clutched at her throat as she felt it close in on itself and pin her windpipe shut. Her feet dangled in mid-air as the invisible grip lifted her off the ground until she floated at Echelon's eye level.

The Dark Toa had made no grandiose gesture this time, no physical mnemonic to give shape to his display of power: only his eyes moved, burning green from their gaunt sockets and maintaining their unwavering stare on Dayeth's as she rose into the air.

"I am extremely well-informed, Matoran. But I am not omniscient."

Echelon's voice carried a cold, controlled fury.

"But even so, you assume too much. Had the Maru been flying at an altitude or speed at which he would be identifiable from any other Toa, my scouts—which I posted in foresight of just such an eventuality—would already have reported his presence to me! The Toa Maru may be slaves to foolish ideals, but they are not idiots, so I highly suspect Korero would have taken as many precautions as possible to avoid detection...besides encountering you."

The magnetic force around her throat loosened and she gasped a ragged breath, only to have the crushing grip return even stronger.

"You were the crucial link in the information chain. You were the one responsible for relaying that information. You failed to do so.

"And if you value your continued existence you will not second-guess me again—is that understood?"

IC (Korero)

"To the Sanctum then, Brother?" Korero asked, already shifting his weight ready to sprint, as Cael and her fellows led the refugees off eastwards.

IC: Marauder

The Ta-Skakdi awakened. He was panting from the nightmares that always followed his slumber, and sweat poured down his battered frame. His back, neck, and shoulders ached terribly, and his clawed feet throbbed. And more importantly, he couldn't see.

Marauder began panting harder. He struggled to rise, only to find his arms and legs clamped to the surface he was lying upon. He wanted to shout in terror - he was monumentally claustrophobic. But doing so would do him no good; even with his insanity he knew it wouldn't get him free. So instead, he struggled harder, the sweat running faster along his arms and face. He needed to be free, he needed to see. And he needed it now.

He yanked his body around as hard as possible, struggling against the darkness that was consuming him.

IC: The Champion (Obsidian Outpost)

The wounds healed, the cuts were sealed and the bleeding stopped. It was miraculous. I wish I could use the masks of power as well, but I've never seen a Vortixx use them. I doubt it's even possible for us. Such great powers the Toa have.. I've always enjoyed smacking their arrogant faces. "Thank you," I grunt, and walk outside. Other trials don't interest me in the slightest, but the courtyard is obviously reserved, so I can't train. I simply stand there and observe the fight, A nearby unfamiliar Lesterin is serving drinks, and I grab one. "Who are you?" I ask.

I drink the ale, it's slightly bitter but not too much. Quite good, actually. "You've got some nice drinks here. Did others let you simply come here and serve drinks? And why are you giving them for free? Not that I would've paid you anyways." I grin and finish the drink. The trial hasn't started yet, apparently. Seems like it's Forger versus some Toa. Might as well watch the fight.

"To the Sanctum then, Brother?" Korero asked, already shifting his weight ready to sprint, as Cael and her fellows led the refugees off eastwards.

IC (Oreius, Inu)

The Toa of Fire nodded, already steeling himself for what was ahead. He didn't know what to expect within the Sanctum, but he wouldn't allow himself to be shaken. Inu shivered, rippling with excitement at the prospect of battle.

"Revekk," he said, turning to the being beside him. "Find a place to lay low. Keep the gates open if you can. Whatever lies within the Sanctum is ours alone to face."

OOC: @Daedalus: Nope, it's an automatic pass for every recruit :)

IC: Zero

After an awkward silence, Forger stepped up to face the Toa of Magnetism. She grinned, already anticipating Forger's moveset. She'd fought alongside him in countless battles before. She knew how he functioned, almost as if he were an extension of herself.

The two faced off, awaiting her call. She exhaled, allowing her powerful gaze to disappear for a second as her eyes closed.

"Begin."

Her crimson orbs shot open once again with hungry anticipation.

IC: Varan and Anhar

Varan clambered up the steep, stone staircase that led to the enormous fortress of Obsidian. He knocked weakly on the huge iron doors, his strength greatly diminished due to his trip from Le-Wahi. Shifting Anhar to his other shoulder, the Toa knocked again, harder this time.

IC Forger

"Begin."

Forger's Kakama glows dimly, it's passive usage allowing him to move quickly. He searches his catalog of weapons, selecting two he doubted Rehkyt would expect.

A longbow; it was the weapon of a Po-Lesterin he had knew in the past. The original user had only been able to use it because of their massive strength, having control over metal, Forger is able to draw it with help from his elemental energies. Constructed of a protosteel alloy, the material is stiff and heavy, but can store a massive amount of kinetic energy when drawn back.

The arrow begins as a shortsword, it forms in his outstretched right hand. It twists and elongates into a drill-shaped arrow as he notches it, it is crude. But the Fe-Toa does not have the skills to craft a true arrow, so a re-appropriated sword is his choice. The blade is made of a soft, whitish metal. He first encountered it in the Onu-Koro bazaar. It is a rare ore, stored in oil or tar. The reason being that it reacts violently with air, reacting with it in someway and producing heat and flammable gas. Forger does not know how it works or what it is.

What he does know is that it reacts even more violently with water or ice, quickly turning the water to superheated steam, the flammable gases and soft metal will burn brightly before exploding.

He takes aim and fires, directly into the snow beneath and in front of Rehkyt.

...but close to it

OOC @Requiem: Sweet.

IC: Faora

The way Zealot looked into Faora's eyes made her quickly look away and shift on her feet. She had no idea if he knew, but even if he suspected, it could turn out bad for her chances of becoming an Outsider.

"Just be careful that your creed stays true to Mata Nui," she said, trying not to appear uncomfortable. "I've seen people realize too late that their personal creed has led them astray." She wasn't exactly sure what she was saying; it just came out. Part of it might have to do with the fact that she liked Zealot in a way. She didn't want to see him lose his way, as it were.

As Zero told the two fighters to begin, Faora reached up to adjust her earmuffs. She pulled the right side off her ear to put it in a more comfortable position. As she did so, she heard, faint and distant, banging. With a frown, she pulled the earmuffs off and twisted, looking back in the direction of the outpost's front door.

Turning back toward Zealot, she leaned forward and looked past him to Veteran. "Hey Veteran, were you expecting more guests?" She jabbed her thumb of her shoulder. "Sounds like someone's at the front door."

OOC: That last bit is at you, Roman.

IC: Dayeth.

Dayeth had somewhat suspected that she'd overstepped herself, so she wasn't too surprised to find herself suspended from the ground, choking for breath, being lectured by the Dark Toa.

Wheezing, Dayeth did her best not to panic. The rational part of her mind knew that Echelon wasn't going to kill her, but that didn't stop the rest of her from struggling desperately to draw breath.

Unable to respond in words, she just nodded weakly at Echelon's final words, praying to Makuta that he'd release her now.

IC: Skulk

Skulk reached out his hand as he was told, not speaking a word out of fear he'd have his head cut off where he kneeled.

IC: Agrona

With her bone knife, Agrona quickly and expertly (as if with practice) cut into the palm of Skulk's hand. Blood oozed out of the wound in the shape of an :x: to hopefully scar, "Wherever you go or whatever you do Skulk," Agrona cooed, "You'll know that you are in my debt."

Agrona began to tend to Skulk's wounds while he lay there on the Sanctum floor. She placed her hands on his chest and poured out energy into his body with a single thought.

Heal.

As the energy began to stitch together what was left of the Toa, Agrona hummed a little tune to herself.

IC: (Rekhyt/Obsidian Outpost)

"Begin"

Within a second of the word's end, Rek assessed what Forger was doing and jumped sideways, rolling on the stone courtyard and immediately springing up, arm outstretched, the laser rifle lifting from where it had been thrown onto the ground and into his armoured hand.

The handle pivoted around the end of his arm until, the smallest fraction of a second later, it was facing directly at Forger. Even as the explosive arrow made contact with the ground yards away from Rekhyt, he had fired five shots of focused laser energy directly at Forger, before...disappearing?

As Rekhyt saw it, the advantage of Fe-Toa was this: they could actually create metal.

The advantage of Fa-Toa was this: They could manipulate any metal an iron toa made.

The disadvantage of Fe-Toa was this: They had nowhere near the telekinetic control over the things they made as a Fa-Toa had over them.

The disadvantage of Fa-Toa was this: They could only manipulate existing metal, but they could manipulate any magnetizable or magnetized metal, which was anything a Fe-Toa could create.

Most likely, Forger was looking around for Rekhyt right now, perhaps  overturning the crates beside the weapon rack, perhaps looking in all manner of places. Wherever he looked, he would not find Rekhyt.

The Fa-Toa was falling.

High in the atmosphere (up where the air is clear, lets goooo fly a kit- um...got a bit sidetracked there) Rekhyt flew downwards, the clouds whizzing past him. All he had done was teleported as far as he dared without suffocating, which happened to be directly up. Even as it was, he couldn't breath very well at this speed. However, with subtle use of his elemental power, he was going slower than he would have been normally.

He had to focus. As soon as he got past the majority of snow-filled clouds and Forger was in sight, he would pull his body that way with his power, smashing into the Fe-Toa from above. If he managed to miss, or the toa saw him (which was unlikely, as he would most likely not be looking up) he could shift away at the last second if it came to it, although hopefully he wouldn't have to waste his mask's power.

It felt exhilarating, and Rekhyt wondered why he'd never tried this before...probably for safety reasons...

IC: Dravennica wasn't surprised in the slightest that the Ta-Matoran was lifted into the air, Echelon's powers suspending her by her throat as he began choking the life from her; punishing her insubordination so that the others would learn from her mistakes was quite expected, as you don't become the head honcho of an organization like Legacy by handing out awards for participation every time one of your underlings fails you. The part that left Dravennica in a state of awe, however, was that he had these powers in the first place. Neither this, nor Agrona's colony of insects, now that she thought about it, were included in the intel she had gathered on them.

Then again, a random Matoran villager was not the best choice to interrogate for knowledge on these matters either.

The Ko-Toa began wondering how they acquired such unique abilities, eventually realising that it was the same explanation that was given to her by the Vortixx and the Ta-Matoran beforehand.

Makuta's Vault. The Piraka.

Zaktan.

Antidermis.

Of course Echelon's top brass would've made their way down there as well...

If Dravennica wasn't determined enough to pay them a visit for a vial before, she was now. All that she was able to do in the meantime, however, was sit back and enjoy the show.

Verulas eagerly watched the fight, seeing Rekhyt dive for his laser rifle and firing off his shots as he disappeared, the Fe-Toa's flaming sword-arrow flying into the snow where the Fa-Toa started off the match before violently exploding. He looked around, unable to find out where Rekhyt had reappeared as Septima leaned closer to him and nudged him in the side to grab his attention.

"Looks like your guy ran away," she joked. I'll be taking those widgets now."

The Bo-Toa was about to agree with her, tilting his head back to finish the rest of his beer and preparing to grab the widgets that he would be sure to take out of the Toa of Magnetism's hide later when he caught sight of him falling through the air towards his opponent.

"Or maybe things just got a bit more interesting...," he said as he casually pointed her eyes upward.

IC: Khil'rayu (Ko-Koro Sanctum)

Part 1, Book 1, Chapter 1

I turn away from the wall at the sounds of someone being choked, and my eyes are met with the amusing sight of the Antidermis-enhanced Ta-Matoran who was near the door earlier being telekinetically strangled by Echelon. Although I smile at the sight- a Matoran, being throttled by a Toa- I raise my voice, saying to Echelon, "Sir, I found an enemy Lesterin near the gateway whilst on patrol. With the help of Dravennica's Kavinika-" I gesture at Shredder- "I evicted him from the city, but he mentioned going to Ihu-Koro. In my humble opinion, I believe that if he has notified any beings opposed to our cause, we may find ourselves under attack, especially with the presence of one, possibly multiple Toa Maru within the walls." Whilst I say this, I push down my pride, ducking it far below the surface, near-drowning it in order to not meet with a telekinetic choke.

Left shoulder and left thigh, the laser bolts burn into his armor and leave smoking craters. The bolt burns his leg, the armor thinner than over his shoulder. It is painful, but not debilitating.

After the smoke and kicked up snow settles, the fa-toa is no where to be seen.

Kualsi.

I am hesitant to move far, he could be behind or under several objects. I project and fire two more arrows at a stack of crates and a small wall. Blown away, he was behind neither.

I reabsorb the longbow. He could manipulate it and most blade type weapons, I'll have to either trap him for an inescapable attack or use more non-ferrous projections to hit him.
