IC: Vezok

The matoran flew out of the circle.

My gaze followed.

I felt where he was going to land before his body hit the snow.

I knew when to strike, when my claws would connect, when to move.

I could feel it in my hands, the knowledge imbued within my very being.

I was aware of the tall form standing off to the side, my mind analyzing it before I thought it a threat.

Vortixx.

Female.

Speakng.

Irrelivant, interrupted.

To be delt with next.

I felt my muscles tighten.

There was no sound to be heard, but I knew what to listen for.

A sign of weakness, of injury, the mark of prey.

I am The Beast and It is me.

I moved without thinking, my body giving itself motion though not purpose, The Beast has no purpose, It is.

A shape steps before me, tall and crimson. I feel my tendons grow taunt as I stop, chest heaving from anticipation of the kill.

A sharp pop filled the air, the vacuum collapsing.

Sound returned, I heard breathing, not my own. Words filtered in.

The voice continues to speak, I listened.

It spoke of the Hunt.

I raised my hand, fist clentched.

I found it in me, a burning glow, surrounded by many others like it. A red glow oozed through my fingers, like the blood of some crushed creature.

I gave a tug within myself, and ripped the rage from me through the power of Anger.

The glow turned into a halo of energy.

Thoughts resumed.

I exhaled once through cletched teeth, and shouldered past Hakann. The power I released from my grasp, and my rage dissipated into the chill air which I do not feel. I flicked a hand to the matoran, and my Rahkshi complies.

"Make sure he doesn't move, I need him later," I ordered the black and white armored suit of mechanized metal, which planted itself in front of the Ga-matoran. "Break his limbs if he attempts to escape."

My gaze fixed itself upon the vortixx, I did not walk up to her.

"You won't do that again," I stated in a considerably flat tone. And it was indeed a fact. My eyes narrowed. The arm. Dead and decaying. It was familar.

Oh, of course.

"You are Kohra."

It certainly helped my cause when all of the self-proclaimed evil doers came to our doorstep sometime or another. Whether for the twisted little runt's inventions or a chance to taste some real power.

Marfoir liked the falcata. It certainly appeared to be a good weapon, and if anything, it'd make a nice ornamentation if it wasn't actually useful. But as he cradled it in his hands, watched another Vortixx confront Vezok, and then watched Hakann step in, and then everything else that Vezok just did, he couldn't help but wonder if maybe he should've just stayed out of Ko-Koro in general. Maybe he could've tried his chances with the island's legal system. Maybe tried to work with them. Seemed to have been what Dor must've done, and probably Jin too, although Marfoir hadn't really heard anything of the latter.

But then again, the island's legal system couldn't pay as well as the scum and villainy and what-have-you were able to pay.

"Escape? Do I look the beggin' type to you? I'm so far in debt my life probably has negative value, widgets'd start shootin' out my *** if I got dead!"

IC Forger

In a region of perpetual ice and cold, it was really saying something when you felt you needed to describe a room as "Icey and cold." Zero raised good points, though it seemed she hadn't heard about the news they had gathered from the (most recent) refugees. Or what the titan and ta-toa from the Hospital had spoke of.

"Ko-Koro isn't falling, it already has fallen." I explained the full story, one that had been mentioned before and that I wasn't going to be typing out again.

"I'm not sure how all you feel, but I don't enjoy the prospect of a mob of cultists and makuta worshipers next door with us being alone. I think we ought to ally with Ihu-Koro if at all possible. They're the closest neutral state and have a formidable guard. Albeit a small one."

Zero listened intently to both her comrades.

"Well, my vote's in for an alliance with Ihu-Koro as well. If we can establish real trust with them, and reveal to them that we aren't defenders while still maintaining that trust, then I'd say we go for it. It's a make it or break it situation. I'm not intent on starting a war, so we'll go about this in a tactical way."

A low tremor suddenly shook the outpost, interrupting her.

She met Transient's eyes, and growled in annoyance. "This is why we have to get these childish recruits out of here. Nialus, would you mind re-establishing order upstairs? Remind whoever did that that we still have guests, and that the outpost is not a playpen."

"Well, how do you want to go about this?" I ask Zero. "As I said, I'm content to remain here and hold down the fort. If you're dealing with the recruits that means Forger, Transient or one of our other more trusted members will have to deal with this missions you have planned."

IC: Xhalia crossed her arms over her chest as she began to speak.

"Word in Ta-Koro is that Ko-Koro is the new hotspot for criminals, Makuta-worshippers, and cultists on the island," she drawled. "Figured that I'd give you the courtesy of letting you and your guards know I'd be in the area to do some hunting. Wouldn't want to have an unfortunate mishap with one of your patrols outside of the village."

IC (Kohra):

The Vortixx just raised an eyebrow as Vezok glared at her. He spoke calm enough but the body language said otherwise. Again: enough neuroses to fill a medical library among the lot of his ilk.

"You won't do that again." he said.

"Unless you give me cause. Depends entirely on you." she replied, as cold as the air around them.

"You are Kohra."

"Very astute."

IC: (Vandal/Obsidian)

Rekhyt finally managed to get the one-and-a-half unconscious matoran on the stretcher into the infirmary, where Ayar seemed to have woken up.

She didn't look awake enough to heal seven or eight half-dead matoran.

The Bo-Toa was still behind, so he said: "These are just in...obviously, we can't let them or the Ihu-Koronan know what this place is - is she still here, by the way? The other healer, I mean."

IC: Aelied raised an eyebrow. "We've been tending to them for several days, they are fairly... stable. Enough to make the trek here."

Zueya carried in the last of the matoran. She seemed to be deferring to her master, keeping quiet.

"... though I don't think my apprentice or I are in shape for marching back to our encampment, during a nocturnal snowstorm."

Rekhyt turned away from Ayar as the elderly Bo-Toa and his "apprentice" approached from behind.

Great. They want to stay here too.

"Lodgings are somewhat scarce at the moment, but I'll see what my boss says..."

He turned back to Ayar so that he was faced away from the two newcomers, winking while his expression clearly said: "Just hang on in there and don't give anything away."

"I'll be back in a minute." he said, turning to find Zero.

IC: Scholar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 1, Book 3, Chapter 4

Scholar emerged from behind the doorway where he'd taken cover from the blast. The infirmary was filled with smoke, making it impossible to see further in than the first few beds. With an exasperated sigh, he filled a good chunk of the room in solid ice, wall to wall and floor to ceiling in an attempt to trap the two Skakdi in an icy prison.

IC: Dahkapa (Ko-koro)

He had been quiet until now, observing the conversation between Ira and the Skakdi. But now he asked a question from Zarkov: "Who placed the bounty? Was he or she a member of the Legacy?" His tone was strict and serious.

IC: The Deceiver (Obsidian Outpost) Alias: Akarth Crystal disguise: Yellow and turquoise, mask shaped like a Kanohi Hau

Akarth helped one of the injured refugees walk inside. He thanked her, and she responded with a warm smile. After Vandal left, she turned to Aelied and asked "Are you just going to leave these poor Matoran here, or will you ask one of these people, guards I guess, to escort them to Ta-koro?"

My apprentice and I were passing through, and rescued them. This is the first time they've been stable enough to move all of them at once."

Vezok appears to be momentarily assuaged (I have a bizarre suspicion that the placidity is not permanent; I must act quickly to remove violence possibilities), allowing me to finalise the transaction with Marfoir. I stride back to the Vortixx, taking care to listen if Vezok turns and attempt to crack any (or all) of my vertebrae in response to my interruption.

Satisfactory?” My smile has disappeared, now a thin line. I consider returning to the equivocal expression, but decide against it; no reason to present a facade of even uneasy optimism.

IC: Aliêwru

The Toa sat in Ihu-koro.

OOC: Open for interaction.

IC: Rujak (Ihu-Koro)

The Toa of ice had stood as if frozen to the spot for many a minute now. It was as if he was made from the very ice he controlled, unmoving, stoic as a statue, his crystal blue eyes unblinking, dead Matoran still slung over his shoulder while the Ice Wolf who had taken the villager's life laid lifeless in the snow behind Ruhak, being dragged by one of its feet, thick blood still welling up into the snow.

Rujak had hoped one of the guards would have noticed him by now but it seemed they were busy with all of the refugees that had come into the village. He knew something was wrong, these villagers looked to be from Ko. What the Karz happened to my village? He thought bitterly.

Finally the scope on his mask zoomed in on a Toa who seemed to be sitting by himself, minding his own business (Aliêwru). Rujak slowly moved over to him, not moving too fast so he didn't seem like a threat.

"Excuse me," Rujak said now. "Do you know where the graveyard is or where they bury their dead here? This Matoran was killed by an Ice Wolf, I gave out justice but this Matoran deserves a proper burial. Also, whats with all the refugees if I may inquire?"

"It certainly looks to be a well-made weapon. I decided not to test it on myself, though, for obvious reasons. What does it do beyond kill things?" Marfoir asked, somehow having managed to remain completely patient through all of the discussion about the weapon and the distraction that had happened in the middle of it.

IC: Transient and Marauder

Transient nodded and left the room. Unsheathing his new weapons, he stalked off towards the center of the explosion.

Marauder rubbed the ash from his face. He pushed himself up and out of the hole he had made in the wall, and stood up weakly. He was about to regard the Toa of Ice's move when a strange scent hit his nose. He sniffed the air again.

When he did, the drool began to drip a bit more freely from his jaw.

"Ah," he exclaimed to the Ko-Toa, gesturing towards Crab, "nothing is better than the smell of cooked crustacean!"

Giggling, he skipped over to Crab's unconscious form. He picked up his burnt armor and fitted it back over his torso.

Sitting down cross-legged in front of Crab, the Skakdi pulled a strange instrument from his sack - a fork. Looking back towards the Toa, Marauder waved towards him.

"Come, feast with me, my friend! We have much to be thankful for!" He shivered. "Though, perhaps we could turn the temperature up?"

Before Scholar could reply, though, he was interrupted.

A cloaked form appeared in the doorway. Two curved blades glinted menacingly.

Walking fully into the light, the being - Transient - surveyed the scene. What he saw was a battered and smoke-filled, room, containing Scholar in a battle pose, the weird little mutant from before in a steaming heap on the ground, and the demented Skakdi - also from before - posed over him with an eating utensil.

Dumbstruck, the Toa could only utter, "What the Karz is going on here?"

Marauder replied cheerfully, "Lunch!"

IC: Varan

Varan emerged from the outpost, his hood concealing his features as he made his way towards the cable car. Reaching into his pocket, the Toa drew a handful of widgets for the toll.

OOC: Varan is open to interaction from any Outsider willing to let him across the Break.

This falcata is a weapon designed primarily for combat. I suppose the virulently psychotropic function could be used for recreational purposes, but, besides that, there is no truthful response. Its worth resides in the manner of death; I believe I gave you a minor summary. If you wish, I shall provide a fuller explanation in a decidedly less public area.

IC: Scholar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 1, Book 3, Chapter 4

Unlike Transient, Scholar wasted no time asking about what was going on. He grabbed Marauder in a telekinetic fist and smacked the Skakdi hard against the wall a few times.

OOC: Sorry about the autohit, Jakura; I'll change it if you want. :)

OOC: Nah, it's fine.

IC: Marauder and Transient

Marauder OOFF'd with every slam against the wall, until Transient activated his own Matatu and yanked Marauder out of Scholar's control.

"Enough!" He shouted. He set the barely conscious Skakdi on the ground.

"I said, what happened? This Skakdi is no good to me unconscious." He knelt in front of him, pressing one of his blades against Marauder's neck.

"Marauder, isn't it?" He inquired. When the Skakdi gulped and nodded, he continued. "What the Ussal-shell were you doing? How did you escape?"

Marauder nodded feebly towards Crab. "Ask... h-him."

Transient looked at Crab, then back to Marauder.

"I see."

Without another word, Transient smashed Marauder into the wall one more time, knocking him out cold. He stood, sheathed his weapons, and turned to Scholar.

"I hate new recruits. Especially Skakdi." He gestured towards the two. "Marauder couldn't have escaped on his own, though. That... thing must have done it, for whatever reason."

Transient moved over to Crab and began inspecting his body.

"Interesting..." He mused.

Hakann at least paid, though. Reidak had tried to curbstomp my latest and greatest prototype right there on my workbench while I was checking inventory with Thok yesterday, and only the electroshock prod I'd had the foresight to build into the thing kept the ###### lout from crushing it under his gross feet. But that was yesterday, and I had worked all through the night and through half of today to finally complete the Vakbot Mk II before any more kinks in the development phase. While Thok was off schmoozing and serving drinks to a few wayward mercs who had come in about a potential firearms design, I was welding, soldering, upgrading pre-existing systems, testing AI...testing...testing...

VAKBOT MK II OPTIMIZED. CENTRAL PROCESSING 100%. NAVIGATIONS SYSTEMS 100%. COMBAT SYSTEMS 85%.

Note to self: upgrade combat systems in future. Twelve hour recharge for a taser is near-unacceptable. But I was so excited with the ###### thing that nothing would do but I unveil it right now. I reached out with a screwdriver and flipped the power switch hesitantly, waiting to see whether the Vakbot would rear to life...

Switch flips.

Somewhere in this cradle of electronics, unseen by any living eyes, a cursor flashes.

Power on. Booting.

Power surges down wires, through circuit boards. The metal channels branch like blood vessels or nerves, but straight and precise, carrying the pulses of electricity as they move at millions of miles an hour.

Core systems initialising.

Lights flicker, motors whirr, hydraulics hiss. Little metal legs twitch.

Power at 98%. All systems functional.

Finalising boot.

Two shields retract, up and down, to reveal a screen which slowly begins to glow blue. A circle of a whiter shade appears at its centre.

Hello, world!

Four crab-like legs move into position and hoist up a spherical body. The top half of the body swivels left and right, as the gaze of the visual sensors behind the screen roves across the room, taking in every detail with what appears to be wide-eyed wonder. At last its eye rests on the Skakdi crouched over it, who wears the facial expression of one who has just given birth to a beautiful baby boy.

The spherical body bobs excitedly.

"Vakbot!" the robot chirps.

IC: Barus (Obsidian)

Barus heard a large noise that could be best described as a "boom". He started to sprint to where he thought he heard it, tripping on corners along the way. "**** this depth perception."

He came upon Transient, Vandal, and Scholar. There was also a Skakdi that looked out of comission on laying near them. He apporached Transient. "What happened here," he asked, trying to hide his disgruntled attitude.

"There's actually two of them."

Transient pointed towards Marauder, and then Crab.

"The one right here is Crab - he's a mutant of some sort. The other one calls himself Marauder (a name wasted on him, in my opinion). As for how they end up like this, no clue. A battle, obviously - but why, no clue. Though, from what I could observe, Crab was bombarded by numerous explosives - quite expertly, in fact. It's actually amazing how strategically they were placed... as if to harm the vital organs without killing the victim."

IC Viima

(Ko-Le-Wahi border, gorge):

Viima frowned as he reflected on Tivanu's question. "I have... all kinds of things. My disk, some berries, a net, rope, a vest made from leaves..."

IC: Tivanu

Tivanu snapped his fingers when he heard that Viima had some berries in his bag

"Alrighty little friend, here's what we are going to do." he lowered down some of the rope so viima could grab it "You are going to die that around your waist. After you are secured I am going to decrease you gravity with my staff, and then you are going to have to take those berries and squeeze them like your life depends on it. Squeeze them over your caught foot and the juice should provide enough... slickness so that when I pull on the rope, your foot should come sliding out."
