BZPRPG - Onu-Wahi

IC: Lash.

Lash looked up from the workbench at the mention of her name. Who was looking for her now? She didn't recognise either of the matoran, but that didn't mean that they weren't potential allies.

She stepped forward, but one of the guards moved to block her path. She cursed.

IC: Lash.

"I have a lawyer now?" Lash smiled wickedly as she waited to see how the guards would respond to the unexpected intrusion.

IC: Kajak (Papa Nihu Reef)

Part 1, Book 1, Chapter 1

Kajak mentally facepalmed as Tsuda pushed past him, obviously attempting to flirt with Tio. "So, now that we're all here, let's proceed with our plans; those pillars of smoke-" he said, gesturing towards the soot rising into the sky a few kio away, "-almost undoubtedly signify civilisation. Our aim for today is to get there, and it looks like we'll have to get moving quickly; it's already past midday."

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's forge):

Tuli saw she had arrived just in the nick of time to help Ferron with the unprecedented rush of customers. At that moment she was very happy to have made the decision to leave Ga-Koro early. She did as Ferron told, carrying the crate where he wanted.

OOC: Oh, you're right, sorry about that! Ignore my last post then!

IC: Receptionist

"Thank you for your patience, I'll book you for the nearest available interview."

IC: Lash's guard

The guard glanced at one of his comrades, not entirely sure how the lawyering process worked. He reluctantly moved out of the way, but remained nearby.

IC Niralle and Eretas

The two matoran made their way past the guards.

The desk thudded as Eretas brought down his briefcase and click the clasps

"Sit down, Lash" he gestured
"Tell me Lash," he said quietly as to not be overheard by prying ears "What are you being detained for?"

IC: Lash.

The Vortixx sat down and casually crossed her legs. She didn't have a clue who these people were, but she had a pretty good idea of what they wanted. It was standing right next to her as she folded her arms across her chest and looked across at the lawyer.

"I'm being detained for posessing a tame creature that would, in its wild state, be considered a dangerous killing machine," she answered carefully, "since neither of us are dead, I'm sure you can see for yourself that I speak the truth."

IC Eretas

The legal machine went into full power mode. His shoulders were strong and rigid, and he seemed to hold himself as if his shoulders were taller than everyone elses, even the vortixx's. To be honest, he knew the law and he knew it well. He held its misguided power in his hands. Without making eye contact he pulled out his iStone and stylus.

"So you are being detained for being the caretaker of one who might have relatives who are criminals?"

IC: Lash.

Lash raised an eyebrow. "I guess you could put it that way. I would equate it more to having a very dangerous pet..."

IC Eretas

"Please," he held up his hand "don't elaborate. Just answer the questions." he knew what needed to be said, and by shedding the right light on this situation, he could put the captain himself behind bars.
Of course, what was important was the freedom of this innocent vortixx. For now.

"And you," he continued "have kept this "dangerous pet" (as you put it) from doing harm to this city or it's citizens. Is that correct?"

IC: Lash.

"Yes. I even hired out an inn on the very edge of town so no one would be put in harm's way," Lash felt obliged to elaborate this time.

Eretas' Hau grinned wide as he released his catchprase from his lps:

"Most engaging"

Usually the ussalry was not so careless. This duo must be of substantial significance
"Guardsman! You have no right to detain this tortured orphan and his compassionate caretaker. They are law abiding citizens and pose no threat to the Koro."

IC: Orphos- Onu-Koro

Orphos continued to tinker on his latest invention under the dim candle light in his workshop. Intricate pieces of mechanical scrap and metal bolts were scattered across his messy desk as he worked. He adjusted the magnifying glass he had attached to his mask next and put some extra parts in. As he worked, he thought about the koro and how it has grown over the years.

Onu-Koro, land of invention. Many more like myself continue to tinker away and put little pieces together in hopes of creating something great to help the city grow. And all of those inventions work together as pieces in the system as well, to create a land strong and wondrous. We've come far since the days of Makuta...

*Snap!*

Orphos sighed. He had broken yet another part in the mechanical leg that he was trying to piece together. He pulled off his magnifying glass and pushed away from the desk, frustrated. He knew every part required concentration and personal care, but his mind often tended to veer off from the task at hand if he didn't catch himself.

Aw well, even the best of us aren't as great as we like to think. I probably ought to go shopping now...

He decided to do just that, grabbing his pack and a spare disk. The hut was two stories high, but the bottom floor was occupied with his cramped and steamy work shop, always seemingly too dark despite the yellow lights of the light stones always working. A large mechanical half-finished skeleton for some mad project took the center of the room. Power tools lay carelessly about. It was a chaotic setting, yet it seemed peaceful and uneventful, like still rock left undisturbed.

Orphos left his hut and made a note to close the door and secure the automatic lock. Mata-Nui was a dangerous place these days...

A group of matoran tourists marveled at the setting. Orphos couldn't help smiling. He was proud of his home. He had already gotten used to the giant never ending ceiling and the dim lights keeping the koro alive. It was a fantastic site, matoran bustling about, places to go, things to do. It was a busy, but careful place.

Why? He asked. Because we all have a plan. Every support beam and every bolt is checked, and double checked, and checked again. And if in the end, if it isn't done right, there is someone else to step in and say so. Organized, and strong!

Orphos continued to make his way down the streets towards the market, proud and confident thoughts occupying his head.

OOC

Man, Nothing much is going around ussalry-wise.

IC-Arkhal

Arkhal, bored waiting for the receptionist to call him up, Left the Ussalry HQ for now. He would try again later, perhaps when it was less busy. For now, he strided into the town hall, passing an Onu-Matoran. "Afternoon, good citizen!" He said cheerfully.

IC: Lash.

Lash's smile faded slightly. It seemed she wouldn't be getting out of here quite as soon as she'd hoped. Eretas would have to deal with Onepu first. But perhaps in the meantime, she could give these guards a little... incentive... to let her go.

"Breathless," she snapped an order to the Rahkshi, "time for target practice."

IC: Lash.

Lash picked up a piece of scrap metal and balanced it precariously on her head, then held out another two pieces, one in each hand, arms spread wide. "Hit the targets, don't hit me," Lash instructed the creature. Inwardly, she prayed to whatever gods, good or evil, that the Rahkshi actually understood her instructions and that she didn't wind up standing her like an idiot. Or worse, that Breathless killed her instead.

The Rahkshi stepped forward, staff raised. It unleashed a withering blast of compressed air that blew one of the tin scraps out of her hand, embedding it in the wall behind her. Then it stepped forward, brutally slashing the piece of out her other hand, before pivoting around to skewer the piece from her head to the roof above her.

Lash stood there, her breath shaky. The Rahkshi's impassive face was centimetres from her own. "Good boy," she managed to say, patting the creature on the head before carefully stepping away from it. The Rahkshi withdrew its staff, leaving the mangled chunk of metal stuck in the ceiling.

"Anyone else want to try?" she asked brightly.

IC Kavala
(Onu-Koro, Ussalry HQ, cell):

Kavala smirked as he replied "Who else is there to rightfully worship than the great spirit of darkness, Makuta." After a pause, he said "You wouldn't happen to know of his cause, would you?"

IC: Danaku Ran (Onu-koro prison)

Kavala had aroused Danaku's interest, so he only responded to the Onu-Toa. "Can you tell me more about this.. Makuta?" He had a faint memory that beings of shadow were evil.. but maybe it wasn't true, and those memories false. And even if Kavala's god is evil, it might still be able to help him. He also wondered why Silo didn't see much point in gods, for maybe they could help him in times of need, if he is faithful enough. Danaku then pondered why Kavala's god hadn't helped him to get out of prison yet, but he thought that maybe the deities couldn't provide direct help to their servants, or Kavala wasn't faithul enough. His memories were blurry, but he was certain that some gods had helped him at least indirectly before in times of need, as long as he had prayed for their help and stayed loyal to their name. Maybe this 'Makuta' could do the same.

IC Kavala

(Onu-Koro, Ussalry HQ, cell):

Kavala's eyes seemed to darken as he thought about his master.

"Makuta is the spirit of destruction", he began. "He is the brother of Mata Nui, who used to reign on this island. The Matoran worshipped Mata Nui, but Makuta saw the deception of his supposed goodness. The Matoran were misguided, lulled into a false sense of security by the spirit they worshipped. Mata Nui reserved all glory for himself, masking the existence of his brother, Makuta. But just as creation and destruction walk hand in hand, so should the Matoran know about the reality of destruction as well as creation. Acting on this, Makuta fought his brother and cast a spell over him, putting him to endless sleep. He then spread his power over the island, redeeming the years of ignorance of the Matoran and showing them the truth: that striving to gain more power is what keeps the society going. He had set out to get what was rightfully his, and through his deeds many of us also began to pursue the goal... myself included."

"A couple of years ago, however, a group of misfit mercenaries found a way to access the power of Toa and challenged the great master of shadows. They fought him and they banished him, leaving the land with no protection against threats only gods can deal with. Through his benevolent will, Makuta had preserved creation by keeping Mata Nui asleep, and also introduced the balance of destruction through his own power. But with the foolish act of the Toa Maru, creation remains dormant with no one to protect it, and destruction has been eradicated. Our world is in more danger than they could ever know because of their foolishness... but Makuta is still out there, and one day he shall return to restore the island to the way it used to be and make things right."

IC: Reson.

This Vortixx was well and truly insane. Reson pushed off the wall and walked away, Curmudgeon scuttling along just beside him. He needed to find something better to do than eavesdrop on every suspicious person he ran into, because that strategy wasn't getting him anywhere. He needed to learn more about this Eretas and his mysterious employer Niralle.

There were probably records on them somewhere back in HQ, so that was where he decided to begin his search.

IC:

"... I should have expected that answer." Tarnok remarked, observing the goings on of the village around him. Onu-Koro was never as overtly bustling as some of the other Koros, but its pulse was still easily discernible to its natives. It was strange to simply observe, without the need (or intention) of interacting with the world around him. Peaceful, but unfamiliar.

"I wonder what our fellows have been up to."

On this eve, the thirtieth anniversary of that first colony, many are left to wonder; is the world fast approaching a breaking point?

IC: I close the door and push aside the chair, kneeling. Time to report.

"After Ta-Koro, I took the Dark Walk with one guard escort. In the nexus, I heard Joske Nimil endangered and found the source to be near the Vault. I had detected Thok in the Vault earlier, so I decided to extract him and proceeded, adding a friendly Lesterin to my force.

"Hakann, the red Piraka, and six Rahkshi were in the chamber. Hakann's eyes were black and he carried a bag he had not worn in Ta-Koro, looking of the Vault. Leah and Reordin were hiding nearby. We agreed to ambush them with a pincer maneuver and make a distraction for Nimil.

"We surprised them and dealt considerable damage to the Rahkshi, minor injury to Hakann."

I remember my shot. The blood on his leg. And his grin.

"Then the green one spoke from the Vault. Four more Rahkshi came from the Abettor's level while Joske escaped. We played safe and retreated."

I make sure I am not moving.

"My conclusions: Hakann had six Rahkshi to start, so we must assume Piraka each have six;only he and the green one acted, so the others are elsewhere. Thok is near.

"Thok and six Rahkshi are here. Others likely.

"Ergo, Onu is a Piraka objective."

No more words.
