I could join fishers64 to make the necessary duo to join the game. Or?

EDIT: This is a preliminary ship design. If Toa Onaku doesn't join, consider it void. (Although considering the design below, it seems that I would be better off on the red team, but whatever.)

EDIT: I've made my ship specifically to be for both combat and cargo. I'm glad I was able to get Panrahk as my first mate.

Um...28 isn't the total number of stuff. If you check the main post again, you'll see that different modifications cost different amounts.

 

If you mean ShadowVezon, I'm 99% sure he was listing the point totals of the items he was buying.

 

Edit: Also, still need a ship or two with C5. You don't all need combat ability, heavy ships will escort you.

Yeah, they were point totals.

And about Combat vs Cargo abilities, Captains don't like to be defenceless on their own. They want some weapons, so they feel safe and secure.

Except, there is the problem of AFK...which brings me to this. Is there a turn order? Or is it a free-for-all, first come first serve when it comes to posting? I feel that whole battles can be decided by simply waiting for somebody else to post before you do.

Fishers64 and Toa Onaku, you can consider yourselves officially admitted. As you are both fairly active members you can pick your own teams, unless you both want the same team. Then I'll randomly assign.

 

Fishers64, if both teams are in favor of the concept, I will allow transfers of treasure between vessels. This would be the action for the round for both ships involved in the transfer, in other words, they could not also attack, move, hitch, repair, or mine treasure. Additionally, both ships would have to be in the same hex.

 

Man of Miracles, every round, each player will send in their single choice of action to me via reply to my initial PM. All actions for a given round happen simultaneously, except for attacks, which are resolved first (this allows you to fire at ships that came in range at the end of the previous round, before they can get a chance to move out of range again).

Yerks, realized I have 1 gun. This game should get interesting.

 

You actually have two guns. Which means it would take three hits to make your ship derelict, and four to sink it. Assuming you made no repairs.

 

EDIT: Toa Onaku, any sort of discussion is fine. Also, what team do you want to join?

As you wish. Once you and Punished Snake decide on a design, we'll be all set, unless there are another two would-be players waiting in the wings...

 

If anyone wants to make modifications to their design in light of what their team members chose, or discuss anything in the topic before the rounds begin, now is your chance.

 

Next, each player will need to select the homebase hex that they wish their ship to start the game docked in (in response to the PMs I will send out shortly). Then I will publish the list of where each ship is starting the game.

 

EDIT: Number 7 is already taken. You'll have to choose 5 or 6.

If someone does set up such a group PM, please consider adding me to the list. It helps with the entertainment factor here in host land, and I can let you know if you're basing a strategy on a misinterpretation of the rules, saving you from costly mistakes.

 

Speaking of PMs, I am currently clearing out my inbox in order to send out the PMs to all of you, so expect them to come tonight. You can send back your choice of starting hex right away, or wait until Punished Snake designs his ship and I have officially ended the ship design phase.

That was the only number left.

 

You may choose, if you would like, but otherwise I will apply it to the first. The important thing is that there is a round in between, so if you wanted to, you could skip two rounds in a row sometime if you later decided you'd rather have it apply to even-numbered rounds instead of odd.

The Preparation
By the forested cliffs of the northern shores, the captains of the Blue Team readied their vessels to set out to sea. Likewise, in the desert dunes of the south, the captains of the Red Team prepared their ships for the voyage. First mates were named, hulls were cleaned and stocked, guns were rolled aboard. Every crew member brought on his small set of possessions and then went to work. There were many things to be done before a ship could be launched, but the sailors did not grumble, for their thoughts were consumed with pictures of mystical bounty on far away islands and of glorious naval battles and victories.

Captains' Orders
Because choosing the starting location took longer than expected, I would like to shorten the length of time allotted to this first round. Since no ship is in range of any enemy, nor damaged, nor docked at an island, the only sensible action for captains to choose is to "Move," and the game will not be won or lost based on movement this early. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could send in your actions with 24 hours if possible, and the sooner, the better.
