I think MoO was asking where originally this random fact came from.

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. Seeing that BS01 can be edited by anyone, perhaps someone just put that in to see if we were paying attention? I don't know.

Interesting fact, though. Kopeke will have to tune those vocal chords speech modulators if he wants to keep up. :P

I put that there. It's canon and from his bio on the original BIONICLE.com site from 2002-2003. Trying to find a direct link, but it's hard to get around that site in the Wayback Machine.EDIT: Nevermind, that's not it. Where did I find that again...? I know it was something very old and official... Can't have been the MNOG.

Screenshots, perhaps if anyone has found an archived version? But thanks for clarifying that Aanchir, because I was sort of wondering that too.

I was wrong. It's not on any archived version of that page (I have links in my previous post). Not sure WHERE I found it, but it was something very old and official, and I found it when I was looking for something else entirely. Maybe it was the BIONICLE Game Boy Advance game, but I feel like it was something a whole lot more ironclad than that.EDIT: I've looked through the ads in my old comics and come up with nothing. The best guess I've currently got is that it might have been the game BIONICLE: Quest for the Toa. After all, that game had NPCs who offered loads of offhand remarks about characters. I doubt the makers of the game would have made that up out of nowhere, but I wish I could find a more verifiable source of that information. Edited by Aanchir: Rachira of Time

That first link mentions Matoro's "deep and booming" voice, a characteristic I remember. Imagine that as a beautiful singing voice!

I am fairly certain he was referred to as 'the singer' somewhere.

EDIT: I seem to have confused him with Matau.

I was wondering if Aanchir had the same mixup? I have zero memory of Matoro being called a singer, but his name is similar to Matau. Matau, Matoro. Could be confused. And Matau was definitely called that in MNOG.

This definitely came from Tales of the Tohunga/Quest for the Toa. As Aanchir suggested, it is one of the many random facts that villagers relate.

As a guy who joined BS01 because he was irked by a typo, and whose subsequent revisions of substance were all consistently reverted, I can at least assure you that, at least back in the day edits to BS01 were watched pretty darn vigilantly by the staff. It's a little more relaxed now, but speculative/false information is still noted and removed by, if not staff, those of us ghosts who are still lurking.

Matoro is a Bass? =O

Yes, absolutely a beautiful singing voice *isn't biased at all*

Oh, I know. In fact, I joined BS01 for the same reason. :P

And that was in no way meant as a disparaging remark to the great folks at BS01. Sorry if it was taken as such. :/

According to BIONICLESector01, Matoro had a great singing voice as a Matoran! Where did that come from?

What, you weren't there in the great Icejää-tour of 2012? The greatest gathering of cool dudes with chill attitudes there can ever be?

I would feel pity for you, if my eardrums weren't still awestruck by his hit single "If all of us are beautiful special snowflakes, aren't we all the same?"

Sorry; I was on a railtour in Australia on that day, and unable to make it overseas.

Hopefully I could get his latest single for Christmas or my birthday though.

I think they just want you to know that Matoro love to sing. Nothing more and Nothing less :P

But for real i don't know and it look like people are saying that it is from Tales of the Tohunga or Quest of the Toa or what ever it called.

There is a thread somewhere full of translations from matoran to english. In it we can see how many names are actually definitions of the character (Ta-hu-> spirit of fire). Maybe the particle Mat- means singing, so Matoro would be singing...¿hero?

Well, maybe, but that's not really a valid source of information since those "definitions" are almost entirely fan-created. Most BIONICLE names were never intended to be constructed in that way. In real life, "Tahu" was taken from a Polynesian word for "fire", and the Matoran prefix "Ta-" was taken from that name, not the other way around. In fact, most BIONICLE names either come directly from real-world languages (Tahu, Gali, Ihu, etc.), are modified from real-world words (Axonn from "axe", Carapar from "carapace", etc.), or are made up as arbitrary, trademarkable nonsense words with no intended meanings other than the names of particular characters (Lariska, Dezalk, etc).

Yeah, he never struck me as a bass. I thought more tenor, tbh. Oh, well.
