Why Should Lego Bring Bionicle Back?

I feel Lego owes us two more years of sets to go with the two extra years of story we were given. Plus, Lego was meant to give us three new movies, but we only got one: Bionicle: The Legend Reborn. It'd be great if they did two more movies to make the trilogy. Not only that, but there are also a lot of awesome characters that were never made as sets, such as Toa Helryx, Makuta Kojol, Lariska and the Sisters of the Skrall. What I wouldn't give to have them as sets!

There are some good points here, like how it's been one of LEGO's best-selling lines, arguably having one of the best storylines, and the lack of some stuff that would have been pretty cool to see. So even with many older fans lacking time or money, it seems like maybe LEGO could try and get it to appeal to both the younder and older fans. "That's all I gt to say about that".

It doesn't need to come back. I don't care if it does or not. It ran it's course we got amazing sets(for the most part minus some HORRIBLE ones I hate like Titan Mata Nui) and a good story(well before it got complicated). No need to bring it back.

They shouldn't bring it back. They ended it respectfully, and they now have a theme to take its place. They had honorable reasons for ending it.

(Why is this LEGO spokesperson ignorant? I'd rather assume in this imagination excercise that they're quite intelligent and informed.) Anyway, my answer hypothetically: "I don't really think that you should. But, if there's enough demand for a relatively recognizable name, I'm willing to bet that you'd be able to take advantage of that. And the only way to do so is to ressurect a relatively stale line. So, I suppose what I'm trying to say here is, 'You tell me.' Honestly, why bother listening to a persnickety LEGO fan?" ~ BioGio

"Honestly, you shouldn't, the sets started becoming poorly designed years before the series was discontinued. Hero Factory seems to assume the role well enough, so why add a second line of products that are direct competition to another of your products?"

"BIONICLE had a very successful run, and, like a lot of other lines that LEGO has used again and again over the years to great success, such as Space, I believe that it should be brought back in due time. Hero Factory must run its course, as it is the direct successor to BIONICLE. However, I do not believe that for BIONICLE to be brought back successfully, that LEGO will have to cancel other buildable-figure lines. "BIONICLE should not build off of ten years of backstory. Use names, use locations, heck, use some of the same characters even - but, since one of the reasons that LEGO axed the line in the first place was due to new fans having a hard time getting into it, start it anew. Have it within the canon of the old, but do not make knowledge of it a prerequisite for its full understanding and enjoyment."

This I just about agree with entirely. What I'd love to see is a whole new story set a few decades or so after the end of this story. Or, if Annona's illusion in Sahmad's Tale was a vision of a real future, it could restart 750 years or so in the future.

"Because if you don't, I will stick a different Bionicle set on your bedside every day until you suffer a nervous breakdown." Or alternatively, "Because 1) It was Lego's 2nd highest-grossing brand ever (Exo-Force was first - no wonder, it had it's own manga) 2) It had the largest fan following of any Lego brand, ever 3) Doing a partial or full story reboot (akin to Bara Magna, which, incidentally, I hated at first) would make it easier for new fans to understand the story. But hey, there are lots of popular video games and comics that have complex stories - take a look at Final Fantasy and MegaTokyo."

I see alot of people saying Not to bring it back And you are right, but those same people seem not to grasp the fact that a new generation can arise Look at star wars. Episode Six was the end of the saga.. until they brought it back, and *BAM!* the timeline has been extended to almost the end of their galaxy. So we have this great story in bionicle, and it ends. Think of the 10 year Bionicle Saga as a movie. Alot of people are saying "dont bring it back, thatll just make the movie longer" which is true. so then what about a SEQUAL!! I say to those people "dont make the movie longer, make another movie. a seperate one." Look at Tron. they had a Karz'n 28 year long gap between the sequal. whole new story, but with references from the old one. Wait a while before bringing it back, but dont use a stale plot. create a new plot. thatll make a success.

I think they could bring it back...but they should study the original years and what made them so popular. Kanohi were always much greater than Kanoka or zamors. Likewise, they made a good choice by diversifying the sets, but the later sets really seem to lose the soul of the series...

Why not? Its in the top 3 of your best-selling stuff, with the biggest fan-base, and it had a great story. Create some kind of sequel. You already saw that evil great being dude messing around. If they messed some more, well, there you go. Plus, the sets used to be amazing, and collecting masks were actually a hobby.

It had an original, engaging storyline that managed to provide some genuine surprises and twists. However, that said, I would much rather see a continuity reboot than a continuation of the current storyline. The main flaws were in the way the story was told, rather than the story itself, and I would like to see Lego give it another chance.

Because Bionicle was a brilliant line, lead me on to being a big lego fan, particularly technic, which has helped me greatly with my understanding of engineering and am now studying to become an engineer. Or alternatively because Bionicle is just absolutely awesome.

Because you owe us, Lego. And once Hero Factory's done, you can go back to those aweome Bionicles with their uncertain storyline, new pieces, and nostalgiac chararcters.

Why are orange and black such a good color Combination ? Purple is pretty, and so is blue. Pink hurts your eyes, green is quite mellowing, black is very threatning, red is cool, orange is SO awesome, yellow's hard to read... But you can't see white at all! Oh, wait. I forgot brown.

Here's my thoughts: If a person tells the truth and says, " I always lie," Is he lying? Or is he telling the truth? And what has a mouth, but no head, and a body, but no torso? Do caterpillars like to tend to supporting colum of stone's every need? Or is that name misleading by nature? Speaking of nature, why are the children of animals called offspring? don't many young beasts come alive in spring, and thus, should be called onspring? Heeeeeeyy..... I got the first post on a page for the first time. Who knows; it may happen again. What the... It did happen again... and again...

While I doubt it'd be a good idea to bring it back now, some time down the line it couldn't hurt to give it another go. Part of its success was derived from the fact that its storyline was engaging despite its simplicity; with a continuity reboot or distant continuation of the current series, you would have the chance to reestablish a strong story-based line. The ultimate hat trick, of course, would be if you could pull an Avatar: The Last Airbender or (it must be said, since it has done this rather well) My Little Pony and create a storyline mature enough to draw in older customers while still being enjoyable for younger ones.

"...Yes, because it has potential to became as legendary as Star Wars or Transformers, and I honestly think you guys, the Lego Group, are keeping it from that full potential. One of the few ways I can see it coming back and being as successful, or more, is if the story was bought by a major comic book company, most likely DC comics because they already made the comics for Bionicle. "Huh, okay.... ...Wait, you said 'one of the few ways', care to explain others?" "Sure... Another, more realistic way, is that when you bring it back up, you would give Greg Farshety more freedom in his writing, it would take place either before the Iron Tribe's Dreaming Plague, where it would build up to The Core War and the impending doom of The Shattering; or several hundred years after Journey' End, where as the story goes on, there would be hints and winks at the story before." "Mhmmm..." "Either way, I see the sets as more of a way of funding the story and representations of characters, so as long as this legendarium (as J.R.R. Tolkien puts it) of Greg Farshety continues, I'd be one happy fat man. " "...Thank you for your time. Now, anyone else?"

"I say, don't bring it back. BIONICLE was a great franchise for a while, but like all stories do, it came to an end. I don't wear my epically awesome t-shirt to have them bring it back - I wear it to commemorate a childhood memory. And because my other t-shirt wasn't clean... Jk ;)"

"all stories come to an end"- Says some of us"I beg to differ"- Says Star Wars George Lucas

Fixed it for you. Anyway, I would probably play more towards Lego's economic interests by saying that they could cash in on new fans coming into the series as well as older, more dedicated fans that would buy these sets out of nostalgia. Because Bionicle has what most un-licensed Lego themes don't have prior to their release: a large fanbase. -don't touch my pocket protector

To those who say it's old, hackneyed, and need to lay down and die: All I can say is "Doctor Who". Anyway, I'd say, "Because we, the older fans, enjoyed its mature storyline and myth arc, while new fans who wouldn't be familiar with it could enjoy a yearly story, similar to a TV show with its episode-by-episode basis, even though some of those episodes advanced the myth arc. You have forums full of people who are ready to jump back in and buy Bionicle, to which they have a large consumer loyalty to (as opposed to a brand-new line like HF). You killed the golden goose last time around. Yeah, perhaps it might have been losing money, but the obvious solution is to revamp the storyline instead of kill the line and start a whole new one. That will keep old fans engaged while bringing in new fans who don't have to be familiar with the backstory unless they want to be. And then LEGO gets more money." Can't forget that LEGO is a company, guys. They can't make a decision they know will lose them money--ergo, you must explain why the investment in Bionicle will gain them money. :w:
