The LEGO Hobbit video game has just been confirmed by Warner Bros. Based on the first two films, as the third comes out in a year, it is slated to release in the spring of 2014. Read more about it on IGN, and look for an ad on the instructions in this winter's Hobbit sets. The game will be released on all the expected formats and gaming systems.View the full article

Wouldn't it be better to wait until the last movie comes out? Or will they pull an Indy 2 and just make a whole new game to accommodate that last movie?

If you know anything at all related to Nathan Furst's scores to the first three films - cue sheets, track titles, random slates, film stems, perhaps even the complete scores themselves - PM me at once!

Probably, because that's what Peter Jackson and them did with the Hobbit. In other words, for money.

While I don't really like Jackson's 2 to 3 movie workover, either, there's no evidence to suggest that it was done for money. It was his idea, not the studio's, and all indicators point to it being a creative decision on his part to put as much of Middle Earth on screen as he could.

In either case, I agree that it's strange to release it based solely on the first two movies. I don't know how long it takes for decisions to be made and finalized at LEGO, but I have to wonder if its the result of them planning to release a game when they acquired the license, back when there were only two films, and they just decided not to push things back when it got upped to three. Hopefully that made sense. I don't know, I'm just guessing here.

I'm planning on getting a 3DS soon. So if this game is any good, I might pick it up. :)
