LEGO Hobbit Video Game Confirmed

The LEGO Hobbit video game has just been confirmed by Warner Bros. Based on the first two films, as the third comes out in a year, it is slated to release in the spring of 2014. Probably, because that's what Peter Jackson and them did with the Hobbit. In other words, for money.

 

While I don't really like Jackson's 2 to 3 movie workover, either, there's no evidence to suggest that it was done for money. It was his idea, not the studio's, and all indicators point to it being a creative decision on his part to put as much of Middle Earth on screen as he could.

 

In either case, I agree that it's strange to release it based solely on the first two movies. I don't know how long it takes for decisions to be made and finalized at LEGO, but I have to wonder if its the result of them planning to release a game when they acquired the license, back when there were only two films, and they just decided not to push things back when it got upped to three. Hopefully that made sense. I don't know, I'm just guessing here.
