IC:

Errogaven crawled over to a woman huddled in the corner. "I remember seeing you on the ambassador's ship before we were captured. What's your name?" her asked her in a voice that even sounded rocky.

"Nice to meet you, Nicole," Errogaven said. "My name is Errogaven. Are you alright? You look upset," he said in concern.

IC:
"Point. I suppose I meant more upset that simply because of being captured. Besides, I've got a good feeling about the commotion I heard. Perhaps we'll be freed!" Errogaven said in an attempt to lift Nicole's spirits.

IC: Nicole tried to fein a smile to be polite, but it quickly faded. She lowered her head against the wall. "I got pulled off of leave for some mission I'm not ready for and find myself on a slave ship," she muttered. "What are the odds anyone's going to free us? We'll all probably starve to death by the time anyone notices we're gone."

IC:
"Well, I'm sorry about being pulled off of leave. I'm sure the Federation will notice we're gone soon enough. An important diplomat doesn't just disappear. Plus, at least you have a possible friend here, instead of being all alone. I'm sure that counts for something, right?" Errogaven asked hopefully.

"Well, if you'd rather be alone now instead of just being alone when you're sold, don't let me stand in your way!" With that, Errogaven moved back to the group, who were all trying to puzzle out what the hey was going on out there.

IC: Nicole said nothing as her companion walked away, though he hardly walked more then a meter away, given the confined environment they were both trapped in. As soon as his back was turned and he was confronting the other prisoners, Nicole reached into her collar again, pulling out that small locket and opening it. In one photo she wore her uniform with pride, a large smile on her face, but she could only stare at the other photo of the young raven-haired girl, clad in uniform with a proud smile. All she could do was stare, it was the only comfort of any sort she seemed to have left.

IC: Geist followed along with his chosen group rather confused by the turns the situation had taken. The Mantis seemed to have been repelled, at least as best Geist could tell, but the Kestral seemed to have jumped from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak. And whomever was currently hailing them even shared Geist's name.

Geist wasn't going to pretend he knew the man's motives, but he doubted they were anything positive. He only hoped that this other Geist was not Engi like himself, and if so, was at least not similar looking. Getting shot for looking like their possible current assailant was not the way Geist was looking forward to going out.

He decided to voice this. "It would seem that whomever we are dealing with right now has the same name as I do. If he happens to be Engi as well and look like me, please do not shoot me."

~Totally like a boomerang. I always come back. Just never when you want me to.~

IC: As Nicole closed her locket and let it fall at her chest, she lay her head against the wall again and shut her eyes, trying to fall asleep. She could not, and opened them moments later. Slowly she got to her feet and approached the bars. There was not much that could be heard, and the crowd of prisoners blocked the view. Reluctant to mix with them Nicole stayed behind them, just far enough to have some space of her own. A few moments past, the crowd kept up their excitement, but Nicole failed to see what was happening. She turned toward the back of the wall and sat down, knees bent in front of her, as she reached for the locket and opened it again.

OOC: Any idea when that rescue's going to come? I'm not even sure if any of our allies are supposed to be on the slave ship yet or if they're just approaching it now.

IC [Captain Geist]

"There is no need for your shuttle, Major Daniels. We will send over our own. Prepare your hanger for our arrival. You have ten minutes to prepare your selection." The Engi motioned to the navigations, and the stout man quickly left, going down to fly the shuttle.

IC: Nicole let the lockett fall to her chest as she stood. She did not want to approach the crowd, but something was happening. She noticed Errogaven, the most familiar of them, near the back and approached him nervously, tapping him on the shoulder.

"Any idea what the noise is?" Nicole asked.

"If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like a shuttle launch. Something is definitely off here. I don't think slavers usually pick up the 'merchandise', they usually have it delivered to them. Plus, no slaves have been removed from this hold, so they can't be making a sale. Something is definitely rotten in Denmark," Errogaven finished.

IC: Nicole remained silent as her friend, or at least the closest thing she had to a friend right now, finished speaking. She still stood at a distance, uncomfortable getting into the crowd. A small moment of silence fell between them, Nicole reluctant to say much more. Still, she felt an urge within her. She did not want to know the story of what happened to this man- she did not want to grow attached to anyone for fear of the pain of being separated when they arrived, but she did wonder if she could get one or two things off her own chest.

"When I talked about leave," Nicole replied. "I didn't mean I was on break. I spent the last two years in a hospital undergoing therapy. They still hadn't finished when I was reassigned."

"Oh dear. I imagine that couldn't have been easy for you," Errogaven said as he led Nicole away from the group, sensing she wouldn't want others to hear about this. "What were you in therapy for, if you don't mind my asking?"

IC: Nicole remained quiet for a moment. It all seemed to be happening so fast. She had spoken to the psychiatrists about it but nobody else. "Did you ever have to see someone you know die? I'm a doctor and I'm in the army, I was prepared to occasionally lose a patient, but I saved most of them. Hundreds of men and women I didn't know, but someone I knew, someone I was close to... I couldn't do anything. I tried. I had her there but I couldn't save her. I couldn't handle myself after that." She reached for the locked and opened it up, showing the two images to the alien, pointing towards the raven-haired girl.

"She was a soldier," Nicole explained, a few tears forming in her eyes. "She took a few risks but I could have saved her."

Kenshin Harken

IC: Kenshin stopped running when the new message came over the radio. Activating a direct line to the Major, he spoke.

"Sir, I'm not going to be able to go with them. There is no way they will let me on with this suit and I will not be able to take it off and still get there in time. I'm going to redirect to the teleporter room."

IC: Andromeda

A glowing silhouette of blue stood on the side of the weapon room on the slaver ship. At first glance it would look like a ghost, but it wasn't. Actually, it was a person. And right now it was a person that was really upset.

"All right," she checked readings on an ion blaster's display. "I need to calm down. Everything will be fine."

She was here for a few days already. They've captured her on one of those civilian liners that course between inhabited worlds. She's got a word from the High Command that a local slaver [codename Geist] has managed to capture an important Federation ambassador on an important mission. Well, at least she was cut out of all communication but still considered alive so the only logical explanation was slavers.

Something nasty was in this word, but Andromeda couldn't quite comprehend it. Maybe she just was against the concept of slavery. Or maybe, just maybe, she wanted them all to be fried like the scum they were!

"I need to relax," she repeated to herself. Her body began to glow brighter, but a metallic collar on her neck was active so the radiating energy was quickly absorbed. Zoltan girl made a few steps towards the door. Outside in the void, just beside them, there was some ship she never seen before. It was marked as League ship by a targeting system and they were actually about to give away some of their crew to captain Geist.

"Poor people," her voice sounded like a bunch of electrical discharges. "Nobody deserves to be enslaved. Even League people."

Outside of the room she heard steps of boots passing by.

"A human on patrol," she grumbled, leaning towards the door and feeling their presence by a slight energetic disturbance caused by their primed blasters. "He is no better than those accursed Mantis. I would like to go outside and kill you," she added almost happily and suddenly became serious again. "But I have an important mission and I must not blow my cover."

The patrol passed by and she opened the room not caring that someone might call the weapons room and not find her. She stood still as she heard a shuttle flying out of the hangar.

"Out to get your precious prize, captain?" she thought. "While you're busy I'll make contact with my target."

She took off the floor and began to hover about the direction of the cargo hold where captain Geist held other slaves. On her way she didn't met any more patrols so she soon prepared to open the doors. She pressed the button on the panel and prepared to deactivate her collar to zap anyone hostile behind it. Door slid open and Rommie took a look inside. There was a single human guard right near the door and he seemed to be not very capable of doing anything but Zoltan woman wasn't planning on taking any risks, so she deactivated her collar, which made her shine really bright, emitting ionizing energy that made human's hare stay on the end, swiftly flew towards him and touched his forehead, delivering an electrical discharge, strong enough to make him fall unconscious. After that she turned the collar off and took a look around. She didn't knew who might that ambassador be, only that it was a female human. Her gaze fell upon Nicole and Andromeda squinted. Then she approached the woman and squat down near her.

"Do you know any survivors from Federation diplomatic ship?" she asked straightly.

"If you consider this surviving," the Ambassador grumbled, standing up and straightening his suit-coat out. "I see you knocked out that fellow; you have my thanks, he was rather rude. Are you are aware of the inclination of Terra?"

IC: Estelle

Suddenly, another voice was heard over the com. "Daniels, I can go on the slave ship." Estelle said softly as she stood in the med bay. Her eyes gazed upon Ashley and the other wounded inside the room. It would be better for her to go than any of her subordinates. She didn't want to risk them getting hurt anymore than they were.

"Hold up now, I have a question," Errogaven interrupted. "How the hey did you get on this ship? With that collar, I'd say you're another captured slave like the rest of us, but your actions prove you aren't."

OOC:
I'll get back to you in a little bit, Atton.

Can, hearing Estelle volunteer over the radio, considered his response carefully, and then decided that he had none. It was a dangerous, risky job, to be sure, but Estelle had killed a Mantis barehanded once, and while she was a valuable officer, it was her duty to risk herself for the sake of the mission. He reserved comment for whoever else would be on the shuttle. "Harken, Kel, teleporter room." Can said into his boarding-team channel. Can himself had stopped by the armory; if he was right about the major's plan, they'd need more than a few weapons. Into a duffel bag he packed three swords, two pistols, two first-aid kits, three breaching charges, a few pounds of plastic explosives, and, for good measure, the bandolier of grenades he'd picked up earlier. After a moment's thought, he opened a private channel to Estelle and spoke into his radio.

"I'm on delivery boy duty. Want me to bring your sword?"

IC - Kelezaag:

Just as Kelezaag was about to puzzle over how to contact an "immediate superior" when no such thing existed, Can came over the comms with orders for her to escort the male Vendarian to the medbay. Comical as the though was, she had no desire to lead around a wounded and armed human, and was just about to voice this, when Can came back with amended orders to get to the teleporter room. "Sounds better than babysitting a genocidal xenophobe," she said into the comms, speeding off towards the teleporter room.

She clicked her com on in order to respond to Can. "Yes... And my pistol... And anything else you think would be useful. I'm heading to the shuttle bay, so if you could meet me on the way so I can hand you my things, I'd appreciate it."

Can pulled one of the three swords out of the bag, then zipped it up and stepped out of the armory; naturally, since it was along the same hallway, Estelle was heading towards him, and he nodded at her before unzipping the bag again. "Good luck out there." He said, not meeting her eyes.

IC: Nicole turned in surprise, cut off from her previous conversation to see a strange-looking woman of a translucent blue, seemingly hovering above the ground. She was about to speak when the ambassador cut her off. As Errogaven's attention shifted toward the visitor, Nicole backed up slightly, until she was roughly an inch from the back while.

"Yea.. Me too." She sighed as he walked off and made her way to the shuttle bay. She had confidence that her crew mates would get her and the others out before anything too problematic occurred but... It still was unsettling.

IC (Devas)

Devas reached the shield room without difficulty, he’d half-expected the security officer to cook up some trouble, despite how much risk it’d put on the ship. Such man only thought of themselves. Without a word on the comms, Devas began to work on getting the shields back up and running. He wouldn’t activate them until the word as given however; he would await orders from Major Daniels. Judging from the consoles before him, he estimated it would be a simple matter of adjusting some settings, rerouting the matrix through the crystal manifold and tapping into the reserve generators to ensure the projectors were all able to generate.

Simple.

Devas gave the console a solid kick, just in case.

OOC: Technobabble. Utter technobabble. Humva said “science stuff” and he’ll darn well get science stuff.

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You are wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

IC: Zhanar

For a Zoltan with no military experience, no understanding of how to act in military situations, and no radio to tell him what was going on, the whole situation was fairly unpleasant. Zhanar wanted to be helpful, even if it was just powering a system, but he had no idea where he would be useful, and no way to find out. As it was, he stayed on the hangar deck where he had arrived, out of the way where he hopefully couldn't cause any problems.

That being said, thag thag thaggity thag thagness.

IC: Andromeda

A human male stood up, thanking her for disabling the guard and asking her a question that at first didn't make any sense. Zoltan woman frowned and crossed her arms, hovering above the floor. Something was off with that question. Was that a riddle? No, it's most probably a passphrase. Yes, she remembered the course of Federation Security: an Ambassador always has a special phrase to identify himself. It would be a gibberish for any one else, but Federation agent such as herself always had a correct answer, which also not always had to be something sensible. This was counter-logical and it ticked Andromeda off. What else was ticking her off is that Rockman who interrupted her line of thoughts. She gave him a heavy gaze and then looked back at Ambassador.

The answer was there, on the edge of her mind, and she took it and spoke to the human:

"Inclination of Terra equals the distance between counselor and the council."
