IC: Souper Saladd, Player Two

"Well then" xhe said, "I suppose we'll play it that way then. Because you are the sickly one, Ashley, why don't you go first? That way you have the first opportunity to take us for all that we are worth...in a way, anyways" xhe added, saying a bit too much as usual. Xhe ignored Andromeda's comments as they were unneeded and unnecessary to what they were about to do either way. Despite that, xhe couldn't help but feel like Andromeda was...nearly hostile? Weird.

IC: Souper Saladd

The slug ignored the Zoltan as xhe drew their cards and waited for Ashley to start. If the Zoltan was not going to play, that was fine. She was likely going to be somewhat hostile towards Ashley due to her way of acting during that.....conversation earlier. Or perhaps Souper was just being a little hypersensitive at the moment. "Alright then. Ashley, go on ahead."

IC: Andromeda

Since Slug showed no reaction to her presence, Andromeda made a conclusion that he deliberately ignores her. That ticked her off since she never made any attempt to draw his attention and he still preferred to ignore her, focusing instead on Ashley. That was understandable since Zoltan was not part of the crew this Slug was probably ought to care for, but this didn't made things any easier.

IC: Souper Saladd, Wonderer

Despite the feelings of negativity now pressed towards the slug from the Zoltan, Souper didn't apologize for their behavior. Right now the only focus that seemed necessary was Ashley, who was still in danger. Xhe turned to the female Zoltan and agreed, "I believe it might be better if you did that, if you could not play as a result of that. Or I could find a set of lead cards, I'm sure that there are a set of playing cards meant for your species to use should the game come in mind. Either way, I think you'd be a great advantage for Ashley."

IC - Kelezaag:

Behind the officers entered Kelezaag, who, after retrieving a bowl of soup, made her way to the table Wulf was sitting at, where she sat across from the man.

"I understand you're a pirate," she said, after taking a sip from her bowl. "I assume this entails all manners of embellished stories of your exploits, yes?"

IC: Medbay

Can opened the door to the medbay, saw Ashley playing a card game with two slugs and a blue Zoltan, mouthed an obscene question, and decided that this was absolutely the wrong place to be, closed the door, and decided to head to the mess hall to get something to eat. Maybe Estelle would be there too, since she wasn't in the medbay.

That being said, thag thag thaggity thag thagness.

IC: Estelle

A few moments after she had left the kitchen, she returned. This time, however, she carried a bag of Turkish coffee and... A large, green dog was following behind her.

Spot, as Estelle called him, was a slug dog. Big, green, and highly intelligent was a trademark of these alien pets, yet to see one was another story. They were highly rare and so many were snatched up by dog breeders and other sort of rare animal collectors, but not Spot. With half an ear missing and some scars, although unnoticeable, marked him as undesirable. But not to Estelle, who, after coming across him at an alien shelter, immediately loved green canine.

As Estelle quickly went to the kitchen to make her coffee and check on her baked goods, Spot lumbered over to where Chastain and Daniels were sitting. He wagged his tail and proceeded to lay his big head on the lieutenant colonel's lap, almost begging to be petted.

"Looks like you have a new friend, ma'am." Daniels commented, watching as Spot approached, and put his head down in the Lieutenang Colonel's lap. Idly, he reached over to pat the dog's head. As he flanced around the room. He noted the other occupants of the mess hall; No one out of the ordinary, though seeing one of the Mantis crew talking to the former privateer was... Odd.

IC: Estelle and Spot

Spot gave an even more ecstatic wag of the tail as Will began to pet him, moving over to him in order to get more affection.

Estelle emerged suddenly with two mugs Turkish coffee in her hands, handing one to both the Liuetenant Colonel and her fellow Major. She too scanned the room, eyeing the others that had arrived.

"If anyone else wants some coffee, have a it. I'm making some pastries that'll be done fairly soon as well." She announced to the rest of the room before sitting next to Will in order to pet Spot.

"Careful major, he slimes sometimes."

IC [Environment]

"Attention crew," the computer chimed, "jump beginning in ten seconds." The ship began to hum, and soon enough there was a split-second of light, followed by darkness, and then light again. If the crew looked out the windows, particularly the larger ones in the mess hall, they'd see a truly glorious sight; dozens, possibly hundreds, of Terran warships, floating through the abyss. They came in all sizes, from bomber craft smaller than the Kestrel to the T.C.V. Brasilia and the T.C.V. Washington D.C., two of the Capital Class battleships, stretching seven hundred meters in length and bristling with weapons. Their sheer mass was on display as the Kestrel passed by them, so tall that the Kestrel could have hit into one of the larger hangers. Indeed, the Kestrel's destination put it on a docking path with the Brasilia, slowing down to begin the fine maneuvers.

[Colonel Ojeda]

In her office, the Colonel turned to the wall, a sheet of glass lighting up as the comms were patched through. Standing at attention she waited for the security channel to established, then gave a prompt salute to the man who appeared.

"Colonel," the General remarked, looking freshly awakened. "I wasn't expecting any ships this way; you gave the bridge crew the fright when they saw a League vessel jumping in. What can I do for you today?"

"Freed slaves to drop off sir, along with an ambassador. We've also sustained damage, and are in need of repairs."

"So we saw; quite a nasty explosion on your sensor bay, looks like someone duct taped it back on. I'll have my repair crew start immediately; shouldn't take more than a few days with our facilities. Your crew is welcome aboard the Brasilia, I imagine they could use some R&R after what must have been a dreadful battle."

"Yes, about that General. We were attacked by a Mantis Brood Commander, and we detected a larger fleet before escaping. That was only six systems ago, sir, the Mantis must be mobilizing for an attack on the colonial worlds."

"If what you say is accurate... this will drastically change our plans." The General grew dark. "We'll discuss this more in due time; I must call the command staff of the fleet together. In the mean time, please, enjoy the facilities of the Brasilia. Davis out."

Sitting back into her chair, the Colonel pondered the situation for a moment, before flipping on the comms again. "All crew, this is the Colonel. We are docking with the Brasilia; you're welcome to get some R&R aboard it, but we will go as one large group. Me and the Lt. Colonel will be attending a command meeting, the rest of you, stick with the Majors. Non-command personnel, that includes you too." On a more private link, "Daniels, try to avoid getting distracted by the ship's guns, you can go look at them after I've gotten business with the General sorted out." Switch. "Doctor Sarany, please take Pilot Landes to the Brasilia's medbay, their equipment should be able to riddle her condition out more properly than ours."

IC: "Right," Nicole muttered to herself as she heard the announcement. She turned back towards the Vendarian. "I've got to go," she said. "Remember to report back to me in a few hours."

She turned toward the woman with the cat ears. That detail still disgusted her. She'd seen this kind of thing before back in her army days and all it did was make people look ridiculous. She finally approached the woman as calmly as she could. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to stop the game now," Nicole announced as she approached them. "I've got orders to take you to the airlock. We're going to be docking with another ship soon and I'm supposed to get you to their medbay."

IC: Andromeda

She wanted to answer something to Slug, probably something about how nice of him was to suggest something like that, and also to assure Ashley that she's a high-quality diplomatic agent and her choice of a helper may not be any better, but this exact moment when Andromeda wanted to open her mouth, an FTL jump occurred. So anything that she'd want to say just dissipated right from her mouth and she just sat here speechless. Then she came to her senses and smiled to cat girl:

"I'll do my best to help you win," and she sat beside Ashley.

IC: Nicole stared with some frustration as the group continued to play their game, apparently oblivious to her instructions. She approached them again. "Excuse me," she said. Still being ignored, she ran up to them, grabbing the cards out of Ashley's hands and tossing them down on the bed.

"Look, I know you were in the middle of a game but I have orders to get you down to the airlock," Nicole said, trying to contain her irritation.

Christ lady, the agent sounded off in Ashley's head. It's been like five seconds time, we haven't even spoken yet, does she comprehend the idea of patience or do they not teach that at the Academy anymore?

OOC: I apologize for the rudeness of Nicole's last gesture. It's what you get for ignoring my initial interaction with them.

IC: The casualties were piling up. Already there were more wounded than there were doctors to take care of them, and the bodies just kept coming. In the distance Nicole could still hear the explosions. Another soldier staggered towards the hospital, dragging his wounded comrade behind him. Nicole approached the wounded man. There was no sign of a pulse, and a gaping hole through his chest. "I'm sorry," Nicole said as she stared at the panicked soldier who dragged him in.

The soldier just stared at her, his eyes swelling up with tears. Nicole could only apologize as she fled back towards the hospital, the man collapsing to his knees as he cried over his fallen friend.

That was one of the less painful moments Nicole could remember of Gaia. She slowly took a moment to compose herself as she stared at the patient she had been ordered to take to the airlock.

OOC: Since Nicole can't actually see agent Dorian, she doesn't have anything to react to, so I thought this might be a good time to write a brief glimpse into her background.

IC: Andromeda

"I assume in these orders there was no 'as soon as possible', 'immediately' or 'at once'," Andromeda crossed her arms. "In that case five minutes won't make a difference. It will take only five minutes to finish this round, doctor Nicole. After that you are free to bring Ashley with you to whatever place you were ordered to. Don't ruin all the fun for the girl. That's cruel."

OOC: Uh, excuse me? There's this thing called work, and some people have to be at work and they can't respond to your posts till they get back from work. Got it? Good.

IC: Ashley

Ashley looked rather stunned when the cards were suddenly just ripped from her hands and thrown on the bed. She didn't know how to respond to that. I thought doctors were supposed to be nice.

Ashley sighed, the whole thing had rather killed the game before it started. "Let's just go..." She was no longer in the mood to play the game after that.

Better follow the nice lady's instructions. Dorian seemed more distant, like he was busy somewhere else. Better to play along...

The nearby Souper felt an odd ping, passing as quickly as it came. A burst of psionic static, no doubt, happened when large numbers of people were around.

"The more you argue, the longer it takes for us to finish the game, doctor. Do you have any respect and sense of tact?" Zoltan woman frowned and looked at Ashley. "See what you did with your impatience, doctor? All It would take is five minutes, but your sense of duty does not allow you to wait even that long!" she stood up. "I understand that you have orders, and being a Zoltan I respect authority. But also, as a diplomat, I respect people's time and able to calculate suitable amount of time that will compel to everybody's needs. Now ask yourself, was it worth it?"

The character herself failed to notice and I just ran with that, hence Nicole having to get their attention.

OOC: And here's the fact - I could not post before Humva brought us to the fleet. And when I was reading the accumulated posts, I didn't notice your since I've been a bit overwhelmed at the moment. Instead of asking why I did this you decided to punish Anna for me ignoring you. Now we have what we have, roll with it.

IC [Colonel Ojeda]

The medbay doors slid open, revealing the Colonel, dressed in a slightly more ceremonial uniform, tweaking the sash to try to get it to rest flatter. Looking up, she motioned in the group's direction, Souper in particular. "Souper, accompany Landes on her trip. Your psionic skills would probably be appreciated by their doctors. Rest of you, what are you doing? Why are there cards on the floor? Who's going clean that up? Or the cards? Take for instance right there, I distinctly remember bleeding there. I mean it's been mopped up and sterilized but it's still disturbing." The Colonel turned away to go down the hall, mumbling to herself about dress code, passing the newly minted Lieutenant along the way. "Skinter, there you are, I need someone to accompany me and Chastain, security detail, and Taylor is off doing... something, I'm not sure what, so you're the next best thing."

IC:

"Who popped my uniform's collar?" Sophie Chastain barked, walking back into the mess hall, fidgeting with her neck. "What do I look like, some secretary for high school student government? Should I be making campaign posters and promising to bring back recess? Daniels! You have operational command of my coffee until I'm back. Guzzle it with pride. With any luck, I'll be able to get to a mess hall at the Brasilia. Maybe they'll have a spastry or two. Who's on escort? Skinter! Where's Skinter?"

"I hear the Colonel built her out in a lab somewhere, out of bits of psychotic fry cooks," Daniels quipped to Estelle.

She snatched the coffee back. "Your caffeine command is revoked. You've been Skintered, Major. Wise up, look sharp. Try not to charm everyone on the ship while I'm away. Walker, watch him - shouldn't be that hard." Taking a long drink and winking, Lt. Colonel Chastain swished the Turkish coffee around her mouth and strode out of the mess hall with the same quick pace she'd entered with. Drink in hand to keep her fueled, Sophie paced through the deck and found the Colonel stalking out of the medbay, grumbling under her breath. The muttering understudy fell in step beside her commanding officer - both were too busy muttering to themselves (and, in Chastain's case, gulping down coffee) to say anything at first. They may not have realized that they were even next to each other.

"Look sharp," Ojeda muttered at they walked into the airlock. "Crews of these battleships are always judgmental of lesser ship crews. Hopefully no one starts a fight." The airlock hissed quickly, pressures equalizing, and they walked onto the battleship proper. A young woman greeted them, pips showing her to be a Cadet, right out of the Academy.

"Ma'ams, sir, if you could follow me, I've been instructed to take you to General Davis."

"Lead the way cadet." The Colonel leaned over to Chastain as they walked, muttering, "we need cadets on the Kestrel, people to go do our bidding without hesitation. They're like interns, except they have to actually do what you say to pass."

IC: Souper Saladd

Seeing that they had jumped, Souper was about to say something when Andromeda, cut off by the jump, acceded to the idea. At the same time, however, Nicole returned and then suddenly tossed the cards on the ground. Great, one issue after another, was this to be what they were going to have to deal with the entire time? It was then when the static began to assault Souper's thinksponge, their brain buzzing as the slug clutched their head. Great. For all that was whole and edible, why was this happening now? They were aboard a Federation vessel of much larger size? Well that was unexpected. Shuddering as xhe recovered, Souper felt a ping erupt from Ashley's thoughts, erasing itself. That was odd. Was the Agent gone? The Foreign Presence seemed distant, but the slug distinctly felt that there was a trail left behind. It seemed...oddly familiar...but the slug didn't want to deal with that. Not now. "We should go, Ashley" the slug said, helping the catgirl up, "I think perhaps a Federation ship is the safest place for you at the moment."

Shaking their head, Soup lead her out the door to where everyone was assembling. It was better to be there than anywhere else at the moment, especially to dissuade the whole crazy notion, "No. Not if I have any say about it. I'll explain the situation to them and if they think you are crazy I will make their lives miserable. Make sure to be as genial as possible, giving them a reason to think you are crazy is not a good idea."

Well this could be better. The group moving forward were approaching the elevator ahead and entering it. Time really did fly when movement was involved. Turning to the catgirl, he shrugged at the thought, "Cat ears are not crazy. Wanting them might be a little weird, as well as the behaviors attached, but I'm sure you will find someone someday who appreciates that for you, Ashley" xhe said as they continued to move.

IC: Nicole stared momentarilly as she watched the Cadet leave. She remembered the last time she saw one of these bright young recruits. Her thoughts quickly drifted back to Gaia.

It took a few moments to compose herself before turning towards the elevator. "Come on," she said to Ashley, her patient.

OOC: I thought Nicole was the one ordered to bring Ashley to the medbay.
