IC: Estelle

Estelle's fist clenched a bit as the slaver made a remark about her, but quickly released her fist and trudged along with Wulf and Taylor into the shuttle.

It would be funnier if he would just so happen to break his knees. She thought to herself. But she knew she couldn't do anything, not yet. No, she would have to wait for Can and the others to get them. Until that time, she'd stay close to Wulf.

"If you are not willing to lead me to Geist's apartment, Andromeda, would you at least give me directions? I would rather not leave my weapon in the hands of such people," Errogaven asked.

IC: Andromeda

"I am not in the mood to repeat myself," Andromeda crossed her arms and turned around to face the room and Errogaven, "But I will make an exception since it seems you don't understand: I am on a mission to find and rescue the Ambassador. Until he orders so I may not leave his presence and therefore I am truly unable to lead you to captain Geiste's apartments. But since this is a standard-issue Federation Crane-class freighter, it has only one layer and a single hallway connecting all the facilities. Therefore, you may want to go there," she pointed to the left with a finger on her right hand, "and eventually you will stumble across crew quarters. However, hangar is in the opposite direction, which means that if there's anybody that wants to go with Rockman, please take the hallway to your left. Everyone else, please follow me to the right. Once you're in possession of your precious weapon, Errogaven, you may join us in the hangar if you wish or go and crush captain Geiste's skull. I hope I made myself completely clear, ladies and gentlemen."

She turned towards the direction of a hangar and began to hover forward.

IC: "You're just going to get yourself killed," Nicole said, but realizing the attempt was futile, she turned to continue following Andromeda and the ambassador.

OOC: Well, they managed to catch this Rockman once. I'd imagine they'd have some idea of how to respond if he escaped.

IC:

Can had spent the last few minutes warming up the teleporter, getting it ready to beam. The lack of sensors made the operation much trickier; he was able to give a pulse to the transponders on a relatively uncrowded band of shortwave radio, and the transponders would respond with a return signal. Normally, he would compare the figures, which would tell him relative distance, to the ship's radar input, which would allow him to judge the relative velocity of the beaming area and adjust for it. The lack of radar, however, made this impossible. Can quickly came up with a solution; by pulsing the transponders twice in a row and comparing their locations, he could get a difference and determine their velocity from that.

When Can tested his system, however, he checked the "out-of-ship" transponder list, and, rather than the three he was expecting, found five. When the second ping came in, it confirmed what he thought, and he immediately spoke to Major Daniels through his comm set.

"Major, this is Skinter. There are two Federation operatives aboard the other ship. ID tags aren't on my list, but they're definitely Federation. Orders?"

Daniels had attended the exchange with an unerring civility, standing mostly still while the exchange occurred, and smiling politely at what seemed to be the slaver's failed attempt at small talk. Failed because the Major never spoke a word through the exchange, though he did nod where need be. His expression had, for a single, dangerous moment threatened to slip during the myriad of comments about the hostages the other man was taking. Civil, however, did not mean foolish; he had attended the exchange with several flashbangs tucked away on his person, his sidearm loaded and primed at his side, and his sword, newly retrieved from his cabin, sheathed at his other side.

When the shuttle departed, the civil facade dropped away entirely, replaced by a cold mask of barely contained fury. The officer pivoted on the spot, moving with quick, powerful strides back towards the cockpit. When Skinter's voice sounded across the comms, his eyebrows raised almost imperceptibly.

"Acknowledged. Then it is now even more of an imperative that we take control of their vessel. When their shuttle docks, I want you to use our crewmates' transponders as the signal to beam across. Make sure you adjust so that you land next to them, not in them. That would be messy. Take a fully equipped boarding party, and make sure Harken is among them." Will paused, the single moment of silence seeming to carry an air of ponderous menace. "Take our dear friend Captain Geist alive, if you can. There are a few words I'd like to have with him before he takes a spacewalk."

"That is not, however, a priority. Ensuring the safety of our crew and taking control of that vessel is." Another pause, as the Major shifted topics entirely. "Devas, I want those shields stable as soon as you can. We're going to be at risk of being fired upon in less than ten minutes, and I'd prefer to live through the day."

IC: The group had proceeded through several hallways, mostly without any trouble. Nicole could not help but breathe a sigh of relief when she noticed a door with the label of "hangar" next to it. It was then that it dawned on her that nothing had happened.

"This seems too easy," she remarked to her companions. "Something's off."

IC [slavers]

The shuttle promptly docked within the vessel, its Engi captain already there to watch as the ship landed. The three newly minted slaves were ushered off, greeted by the sight of the Engi and another human. The mechanical being quickly looked them over, frowning somewhat as he did.

"Menial labor, future concubine, and... this boy barely has any meat on his bones, maybe he'll be a concubine too, who knows. Be lucky to get seven thousand credits all together out of this lot." A synthesized sigh came out. "Better than nothing, I suppose. Escort them to their cells, and then strap in for a jump."

"Hey!" Reg had popped out from the locker room, busy getting himself a new shirt, only to find that the prisoners were escaping. Fumbling for his weapon, he continued shouting, "hey get back in there! I've got a gun!" It was somewhere about that point that the Rockman turned around to look at him that he began considering if this was the best career path he could have taken.

"Skinter here. Beaming now." Can had coded the teleportation solution to that phrase, and the moment they rematerialized aboard the slaver ship, Can shifted; he'd had to guess at the angle, and appeared at a 45 degree angle relative to the ship's floor. But for a Belter, a man in auto-stabilizing armor, and a hexapod, the shift was trivial. Can already had his revolver and sword in his hands. Close as he was, the sword was his best bet. He dropped the bag of weapons and crouched first, to stabilize, then stood, putting the force from his knees behind his stab, lunging directly towards the Guard's neck.

Kenshin Harken

IC: While teleporting was one of the things that Kenshin had not done dozens of times before, suden changes in his relative angle was nothing new. His body righted itself while his mind picked out targets and friendlies. The shotgun in his hands would be of limited use with everybody this close together. Luckily, Harken had other options.

Dropping the shotgun in the vague direction of one of the hostages, he jumped towards Geist with armblades extended and ignited. they were both in a downward slice aiming to take both of the Engi's arms off at the shoulders.

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

While Can's attack was successful, the guard gurgling as he fell, Harken's attack on the Engi was less successful, the cybernetic being dodging the strikes and beginning a hasty retreat backwards, pulling a laser from his body and wildly shooting it to cover him. The other two slavers were momentary stunned, but they both reacted, one going into hand-to-hand combat with Can while the other opened fire with his rifle on Harken.

As the wounded pilot lay on the table, the doctor tending to her wounds, she turned her head idly to notice a strange man sitting next to her. Even in her drug-high state, she could tell no one else in the room really seemed to notice him, though Souper seemed distracted, as though he sensed something. The man himself was dressed in a formal suit, legs crossed and short hair kept in check. He gave her a warm smile as she looked on in some manner of confusion.

"Hello Ashley." The man began. "I see you're in a bit of a predicament right now. Don't worry, nothing the doctors can't fix. I would have liked to talk to you when your mind was a bit clearer, but it seems that the drugs have actually boosted your receptiveness. Please, try to remember me, this will be vital in stopping some very bad people. But, how rude of me, I should introduce myself. I'm Agent Dorian, I work for the military. I've been looking into your case file, ever since you came aboard this ship. You're very special, did you know that?" He stopped for a moment, realizing she may not even be understanding any of this. "Feel free to ask questions, I'll be here a while more. We can talk privately, if this is working then you won't actually be speaking, just... thinking."

Can, who had of course pulled his sword out of the man's throat, spun, bringing up his revolver in his left hand and firing it at the man who was charging him, sending a bolt of ionized zinc at the man's center mass, with his other elbow pulled back, sword pointed towards the man. Even as he spun, he spotted that the hostages had been zip tied, and realized subconsciously that he should have beamed over sooner.

Kenshin Harken

IC: Re-prioritizing the other guard as a higher threat, Kenshin jumped and rolled to avoid the shots from both the figures firing at him. The end of the roll brought him up on his feet and only a short distance away from the second guard. A shot impacted on his armor, scorching the plating but doing no serious damage.

Not willing to let the slaver try again, Harken slammed in to the guard. Using the momentum the special forces soldier send his right armblade striking at the stomach of his opponent

IC: Andromeda

Zoltan woman ignored Errogaven and led dambassador, Nicole and others to the hanger. Halfway there she heard how shuttle got back to the slaver ship and she raised her fist, silently ordering her followers to stop.

"I will scout ahead," she said, "keep it low and watch your backs."

She didn't say a word after, just hovered towards hangar doors and got prepared to open them but then everybody in the hallway heard the gunfire from the other side.

"It seems those League guys had plan on their own," Andromeda concluded. "My enemie's enemy is my friend. Let's show them some of our power. Stand back!" she shouted at her companions and hit both trigger on the panel and button on her collar. She began to hover higher, ionic and electric discharges began to hit floor and doors around her and blue light she emanated just became much brighter. Since the door was opening this time, everybody in the hangar could see a weird blue light radiating from opening hangar bay doors. Then a few lightning struck all possible surfaces and an eerie blue silhouette hovered into the hangar, just near captain Geiste.

"Surrender now!" her voice was high, full of power and anger. "You are surrounded, captain Geiste. Do it now or I will fry your electronics!"

IC: Zokander sat in his seat on the bridge, idly looking over the readouts that, in normal circumstances, would have told him all he needed to know in order to plot a safe course through interstellar incognita. Now they were just blank. With the sensors and scanners gone in the explosion they were flying blind. It was only thanks to his bionic eye he even knew where they were now. He rarely felt so useless, and never liked it.

A younger him would have volunteered to go across to attack the slavers. Give him something to do with his hands and mind. Older him had the good sense to recognise that, though of no real use now, the Kestrel would at some point need its navigations officer and could ill afford to lose him in a skirmish with half-price pirates. And that even if he were more expendable, he was past his prime and probably would have hindered more than helped the attack.

So here he was. Waiting. He never liked waiting. The sensation that your nerves had turned to water and your muscles to jelly, yet your spine was eternally a coiled spring ready to bound into action compressed within its prison of flesh. That was just uncomfortable at his age.

His fingers started tapping on the console, impatient to hear back from the slaver ship, even if it was only that damnably smug Engi captain come to gloat over his victory

IC: Ashley

Ashley blinked at the man several times. At first she thought the drugs were playing tricks on her, but she quickly realised that it was all far too real for the Agent Dorian to be an illusion. Plus there was no way her mind could come up with such a crazy story in her current state.

I'm...special? She thought, attempting to think 'loud' enough for Dorian to 'hear'. She didn't think the agent meant her cat-like features either. How is this...happening? She didn't think any beings besides Slugs could communicate through their mind, much less from who knows where.

IC:

As a human guard ordered Errogaven to stop, stating he had a gun, Errogaven just looked at him. The human suddenly looked a lot more fearful, realizing that making a mostly-unrestrained Rockman was not the best choice. The contrast between Errogaven's red eyes and black body probably helped make him look more fearsome, too.

The guard was still pointing his pistol at the Rockman, though, even though it was shaking visibly. Errogaven suddenly ran at the human, his long legs carrying him farther than human could run. The guard only got one shot off, which only nicked Errogaven's arm and chipped a piece of rock off. Ignoring the pain, Errogaven swung his bound hands at the slaver, knocking his gun out of his hands, and probably fracturing a bone, judging by the screams of pain. The human collapsed to his knees, realizing he was in a bad situation.

"You!" Errogaven demanded. "Do you have a key to my cuffs, and dies your Captain Geist lock his door?"

IC: Nicole crouched down in the corner next to the doorframe as she heard the noises from within the neighboring hangar. As soon as she heard the voice of Andromeda she began to stand up. She stood in the doorframe, looking inside. It took her a moment for her eyes to adjust to the bright light of Andromeda, but she could see a shuttle, along with three people, apparently in federation uniforms held in cuffs.

IC Geburah

The Zoltan ambassador stared at the slaver ship from a window in the bridge. Standing next to a comm line if anybody needed him, he watched the ship with great concern, even though he knew that he wasn't going to see anything from his spot. "First Mantis, then slavers... Well third time's the charm, right?" he mused to himself.

IC: As Nicole stepped into the hangar, she began to see more clearly what was happening. She could see that the three federation officers were indeed being held captive. From the looks of things, they were about to be sold off before Andromeda intervened.

"Great," Nicole muttered to herself. "Right back where we started."

IC - Kelezaag:

Another brief sensation of vertigo and being present in two places at once preceded appearing on the slaver. Kelezaag took the first few seconds of being aboard the slaver to free three or four slaves that looked well enough for combat, cutting through their zip-ties easily. The first couple of slaves recoiled, of course, but the rest held their wrists out compliantly, seeing that she meant no harm (at the moment). After this, she turned in pursuit of the fleeing Engi captain. As soon as he was in sight, she spat at him, her highly corrosive acid arcing through the air at a speed that was surprisingly fast to other races.

IC [slavers]

Captain Geist too advantage of the situation: he had been running towards the ionized Zoltan, so when his Mantis pursuer followed, he gave a quick duck and let the acid fly over, hitting the Zoltan right in the center of mass. While it would have only stung for a normal Zoltan, this one was ionized, and that meant the reaction between her free-floating ions and the acid was quite painful, disabling her temporarily as he ran past. Of course, this was a small ship, and he ultimately had no where to run. It was obvious now that if these people had teleporters, they were no League ship: no, only Confederate vessel possessed though. Confederates gave no mercy to slavers: he knew his only option remaining was to try to kill as many of them before they did him. So, tapping into a wall panel, his arm oozing out as it interfaced, ship sirens suddenly blared as the airlocks opened simultanously, air rushing out of the vessel.

[Ambassador]

The man had been watching the affair from outside the hanger, pushed aside as his Engi captor ran past, and was now trying to figure out the best course of action with the oxygen rapidly evacuating the ship. He grabbed his pessimistic doctor (he'd need to consider replacing her: her bedside manner had proved awful) and pulled her along, making a dead run for the slaver's shuttlecraft. If they could get in there and seal it, might actually survive this mess.

"No, no Ashley, you don't think things in your head, you just talk normally. It's confusing, I know, but it makes for a stronger connection. Now, it appears that your colonel is out of action, your lieutenant colonel has yet to say a word, and your majors are off somewhere, I'm not sure where, my knowledge isn't infinite and is only what you know. Very chaotic mission, don't you think, for a message of such importance? It's a mission that must succeed, though, and that's why I'm here with you. The rest of your comrades were looked at and you were picked for this. I'm going be here to help you... guide things. You don't have the rank, but let's be honest here Ashley, no one really would suspect you of being the power behind the throne, now would they?" The man flickered out of existence for a moment, repairing a few seconds later. "Sorry, telepathy can be a fickle thing. If you're starting to feel a headache, don't mind it, it'll be over soon-" The man turned his head, as though looking to someone else. His expression furrowed, then turned back to the pilot. "Just keep on focusing on me Ashley, it's very important that we don't lose this connection for a few more minutes."

OOC:
It would seem I have control over Reg, too.

IC:
The guard shook his head fearfully. "No, I don't have a key to your cuffs. Only Captain Geist does. No, he doesn't lock his door. Just please don't kill me!" he finished in a high voice. Errogaven shook his head. "No, I won't kill you. Just do this." He grabbed the man's unbroken arm and gripped it tightly until it, too, was fractured. With that, he stood up, kicked the gun into a shadowy corner and went to Captain Geist's door. He hit the release button and the door opened.

Geist's apartment was extremely functional, with no decoration. There was some sort of welding arm, Errogaven assumed it was for repairs. He soon saw what he was looking for, though. Geist had a trophy case, of sorts, with the best of his spoils in there. There was a cabinet to the side, and Errogaven assumed that it held the not-so-great of his spoils. He quickly moved to that side of the room and broke the glass of the case, retrieving the crystal-coated rifle sitting on a rack. That was the item he refused to leave to the slavers. He had made a promise, and he intended to keep it. He then moved to the cabinet and opened it. It was extremely large, but he quickly found his other two personal items: a handheld cutting torch, designed to slice through supermetal in a couple minutes. It was extremely hot, though. It was so hot that anyone but a Rockman that got close to it would receive second- and third-degree burns. He found his last item, too: a helmet specially fitted to his head. It was hooked up by a rubber hose to an oxygen tank that he wore on his back. That way, he could breathe in hard vacuum. He used it and the cutting torch for boarding, but he kept them with him at all times: he never knew when he might need them.

Just as he was starting to leave the room, he heard the alarm that meant that all the airlocks were open, draining the ship of O2 He quickly dropped his torch and gun and fumbled with his helmet, strapping the oxygen tank on his back, then putting the helmet on his head and locking the seals that were implanted in his neck. After a second, it pressurized, and he strapped the torch to his equipment belt that the slavers had thankfully left with the torch and put the belt on. Then, he grabbed the Crystal rifle and began making his way back to the hanger, ready for the vacuum that was coming.

As Geiste ducked to let a stream of acid pass through him, Rommie didn't realize what's up until it was too late: an agonizing pain shuddered her mind and she let out a shriek, losing control of her energy and sending away a few dozens of electrical and ionic discharges before losing consciousness. She managed to touch the emergency reboot button on her collar before collapsing on the floor and the blue light she radiated immediately disappeared. Now Andromeda was dark as a night sky with a myriad of particles surrounding the acid inside. The blob was quickly isolated, but Rommie's body in it's current state was unable to remove the substance.

No, you really didn't have control, it's just the air was released and Reg is probably not going be talking. If I don't post as a character it probably means something happened that makes their response irrelevant. Try to avoid bunnying those guys in the future unless I actually give permission.

IC: [ Wulf Kharon ] - Slavers' vessel

Things happened.

Again.

Wulf Kharon, wrists freed by quick bladework on the part of ever-useful Miss Mantis, scrambled nimbly for the first fallen slaver's sidearm. Dimly, he recognized that alarms were starting to go off, probably heralding something exceedingly unpleasant in the looming future, but right now he had other things on his mind. And most likely no more than milliseconds to do them in.

Swinging his newly-acquired .38 semi-automatic handgun up into firing position, the gargantuan privateer rapidly and methodically squeezed off a half-dozen rounds in the specific direction of Captain Geist's semi-organic vitals.

IC: Nicole had to rest a moment, unable to move. Her locket had landed on the floor in front of her face.

As she came to her senses, Nicole began to sit up. There was no sign of the ambassador. She could see some of the chaos in the hangar through the large winfow of the cockpit.

With some difficulty, Nicole got to her feet and stumbled towards the cockpit. She had no idea how to fly the shuttle, but she saw a radio headset. Nervously she picked it up and put it on before bending down underneath the window. All she could do was play with the frequencies as she spoke.

"This is Dr. Nicole Sarany, Federation Officer. We are in need of assistance. Can anyone read me? Anyone? Somebody? Please answer."

"Doctor, this is Captain Skinter, Planetary Forces." Can spoke into his microphone as the slaver stumbled from the plasma shot straight to his center mass. He might have been dead, or alive thanks to the armor, but a quick stab from Can's sword confirmed it was the former. "We're losing pressure here. I need you to open that shuttle's door and let in anyone who isn't armed. That shuttle's airtight." Even as Can gave the orders, he was passing out weapons; to Estelle he handed her own sword(the same one he'd given her after Earth...) and pistol, and ones he'd pulled from the armory for everyone else. "This ship ought to hold pressure for about two minutes. Harken, get to hacking, see if you can close the airlocks remotely. Guard the shuttle while you do that, make sure Geist doesn't make a run for it. Everyone else with me, we're headed for the controls, and the Slaver too." As Can spoke, he pulled a satchel-shaped breaching charge from the bag and hung it over his shoulder, then headed down the hallway that Geist had fled down, sword and pistol in hand, looking for any controls that might be a lifesystem control panel.

That being said, thag thag thaggity thag thagness.

"A memo was sent to Astaria asking if it would at all be possible to make a flying goat."

"The Astarians responded that making a goat fly would be trivial; making it land safely would be another matter entirely."

IC: "On it sir."

With a twist of his armblade the special forces operator made sure that the slaver was dead before walking over to the door of the shuttle. Unseen to anyone watching he brought up his electronic warfare suite, sending a command to the shuttle door to open and allow anyone not going on the hunting party a way to safety.

With that done his mind dived in to the systems on the slaver ship there were on. There were some basic firewalls, the kind that came with the ship and were never updated. It was nothing that he could not find his way around. At the speed of thought, he moved though the electronic mind of the ship until he found the right subsystem.

There you are

He sent the signal for the airlocks to close, hoping that he had been in time to avoid anybody getting sucked out.

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

IC: Nicole turned towards the door, momentarily shocked as the air seemed to leave. The outer door began to open, exposing the vacuum. Nicole held onto one of the seats, hoping to avoid getting sucked out. She breathed a sigh of relief when, seconds later, the air started to return. She took a big gulp but remained crouched where she was, exhausted and unable to move.

"I'm not sure what happened," she said into the headset, breathing heavily. "But the shuttle doors are open. Someone seems to have stopped the oxygen drainage as well."

IC:
Errogaven heard the ceasing of the vacuum alarm with some relief. He'd rather have tested his helmet in a controlled environment to make sure it was undamaged before using it. He exited the cabin just before seeing the tail of an Engi turn around a corner, with a group of people on his tail, armed with assorted swords and firearms. He slipped out of the room and joined the group, hoping to help capture Geist.

OOC:
Hoping for interaction.
