Hapori Tohu
That's right, folks. If you've been anxiously waiting to watch The LEGO Movie again after it left theaters (and I know you have), then you can watch it again as a digital download in only a week (at least in the US), as is revealed on the Warner Bros website. The download will be available on several services, including but not limited to Amazon, Google Play, Xbox Video, iTunes and Flixster. The DVD and Blu-Ray release will be June 17. Awesome! fishers64
Yay! except that it will probably be real expensive, especially in HD. Watching this film in SD is a travesty that cannot be fully expressed in words, since 90% of reason to watch this is the visuals. also I was only going to get the DD version anyway. iTunes = much easier than actual physical copy. TheSkeletonMan939
Typical Warner Bros., trying to rip people off as much as possible. They're trying to entice people to buy this movie twice, first as a stupid download that's way too expensive, and then as a badly-done "Everything is Awesome!" box-set a few weeks later. I'm just getting the plain ol' Blu-ray.

TheSkeletonMan939
You can get either one. Nowhere is it being said you need both? I know, but it's just a way to get kids to beg their parents to buy the expensive download, and THEN the DVD (probably the stupid box-set since it has a minifigure, and because they're pretending they giving you a 3D version of the film as a 'bonus'). Vorahk1Panrahk2
I think it has less to do with the fact that they want people to double dip (on the digital download and hard copy) and more to do with the fact that the studio is testing the demand for digital downloads- you can imagine how appealing it would be for studios to avoid doing a hard copy release altogether. It won't happen any time soon regardless of the numbers (which I admit I don't know), but you can bet it's something that's being examined. Anyway, The LEGO Movie is just the most recent example of a film being given an early digital download release. Several others have as well (Her, Pompeii, Frozen), some of which are obviously not marketed towards kids who will beg their parents to 'buy it now.' It's also not limited to WB as at least one or two Sony titles have done it as well, along with Disney, Universal, and 20th Cent. Fox. I don't think their digital releases are always as early (although Frozen was), but there it is. Now if you really want to talk about double dipping conspiracies, do a google search for 'Frozen 3D Blu-Ray release'. Then we can talk. Lyichir
Does Amazon Instant Video work like music purchases on Amazon? Like, if I preorder the Everything is Awesome edition can I get the digital download right away instead of waiting for the disc to come in the mail? If so, I see myself doing an Amazon purchase in the near future... There are also some instances where if you buy a physical book you can get a digital copy at a discount too, but nothing for movies or TV. Mr. Cup of Fail
Well it look like I'll be waiting for the DVD also I think people are going to upload the movie on YouTube when it coming out. I just have a feeling that is what going to happen. 1 Quote My Topics MOCs: Construct-a-Astronaut __________________________________________________ Find Me On Flickr Twitter Youtube

Even recent TV shows are blocked. Aside from maybe a few clips, you won't see The LEGO Movie on YouTube.

Ah, so your concern is not the fact that they offer both, but that there is a significant time frame in between, so impatient kids will want their parents to get the download and later either disc with the minifigure. You know what, you do actually have a point. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You've got to admit, it's quite a clever business move, though. That's free trade for you, I guess. Yeah, especially considering how much money Warner Bros is going to make from both the download and the discs, I can't imagine them letting anything slip away by allowing the movie to be uploaded on YouTube. -Gata Quote - Gata Please don't use my avatar or signature without permission, thanks! Lyichir
YouTube uploads obviously won't happen but there WILL be torrents to download the movie illegally (as there are with all movies, unfortunately). Personally, I'm not planning on doing so. Even if I didn't care to wait until the Everything is Awesome edition to rewatch it, I feel so strongly about this movie that I'd pay twice if I had to (heck, I watched it five-and-a-half times in theaters). TheSkeletonMan939
Actually, I bet it's leaked on the internet already thanks to DVDs and Blu-rays being sent out for review purposes (newspapers, web sites, etc.) Like Lyichir said, within just a few days of official release there will be hundreds of online releases in any number of qualities... DVDrip, 720p Blu, 1080p Blu, Remuxed, Web-DL... you name it. That of course doesn't mean home video sales will be poor - they'll be amazing regardless of any piracy. Pomegranate
Well I dunno 'bout y'all, but some of us don't have DVD drives on their laptops because they crammed every bit of space with extra graphics cards So a digital download is a lovely alternative! And you can even throw it onto your smaller on-the-go devices to watch it whenever, and I don't use those services listed up there yet for movies but I imagine you can watch it anywhere as long as you're logged into your account?I'm definitely gonna try and snag this download if I have the time, but since it's not really that big a priority movie for me that I'll prolly only watch at home, I think I'll just get the DVD when that rolls around for my family to watch on the big tv without any HDMI voodoo going on Quote .
