Past Events:

· Three months ago – a team sets out from Katipo to trade with the surface-dwellers.

· Two months ago – the team returns bearing supplies for the city, and reports a successful expedition, with nothing out of the ordinary occurring.

· Six weks ago – odd rahi behaviours are first reported.

· Five weeks ago – a blade-burrower stampede through the city’s outskirts kills two Matoran.

· Four weeks ago – a muaka with the head of a kane-ra enters Katipo and is captured by the city guard.

· Two weeks ago – Ofeo the Matoran miner disappears. Others follow in the days afterwards, each giving no sign of where they went.

· One week ago – The Hammer reveals itself and performs its first attack.

· Three days ago – the most prominent disappearance yet occurs, with the captain of the city’s guard vanishing without a trace.

· Now – let the game begin!

Current Events:

· Turaga Tawhito has offered a great reward to whoever can solve the mystery of the rahi and the disappearances.

· The Miners’ Corporation are expanding production into a newly-discovered vein of lightstones.

Basically a species slightly smaller then a Toa, with a sort of power-mimicry ability. I will submit a profile for approval now.

GM IC: When Kware, Tarua and Kware reached the central concourse, the place was in uproar.

OOC: There are two Kwares? My goodness. Whoever or whatever is responsible for the kidnappings should look out. :D

Whoops, my bad. I should have said Kware, Tarua and Wherya. ^_^

IC: Kharadak (South Road)

HUNT HUNT HUNT

They were mere whispers now, softly urging him onwards into the shadow-cloaked streetways, where Kharadak could remain relatively out of sight.

A few soft, distant sounds caught his attention.

HIDE HIDE WAIT HUNT

The ebony Skakdi quickly darted into a side tunnel, quietly hefting his stained blade.

LURE HUNT WAIT

Kharadak calmed himself and put on the most "helpless" voice he could manage.

"H-hey... is anyone o-out t-there...?" He coughed lightly. "I-I need some... help, please..."

WAIT WAIT WAIT HUNT

OOC: O.F.I, if anyone wants to get something going. Whether or not you want to fight is up to you.

Lemme just have things clear here. So, this Skakdi is just somewhere nondescript in the tunnels, right?

Where are Vosa and the gaurds? I'm looking for a place to introduce Kaltok.

Actually, he's along the South Road - The one road emanating from the central concourse that goes directly south. But he's right on the border between the road and the outer darkness.

I may create a profile for Teota later, but I haven't decided if I want to include her yet. It kind of depends on how I feel like playing this, and how things develop.

Since things have developed in that direction, and Teota is now a part of the game and able to take her own actions, do you want to start playing her? I could keep her as an NPC if you like, but I think you could probably write the character better, having created her and all.

And Gyro Gearloose, we're now waiting on you in order to wrap up the Dark Hunter battle.

I'm actually putting a profile together for her. I'll post it for approval soonish. I just need to fight off my laziness.

I'll have Kware try to assist when I can get to my computer, but to be honest, I'm not exactly sure what he can do. It seems to me that, being a Toa of Earth, Wherya would be the only really able to fight Devastator at this point, but Kware will do what he can.

Being a toa of earth doesn't help; that's why I asked Gyro to edit the post. The fact is that they can't control sand, which is the borderline between the elements of earth and stone. Usually I don't mind a little canon-bending (our female toa of fire and earth are a great example) but modifying your powers to get out of a bad situation is pretty high up on the list of deus-ex-machinas.

OK, quick announcement. For the month of July, Zakaro is being swallowed up by real life, so I'll be taking over his characters as NPCs. This means that Wherya can expect some help from Tarua pretty soon. Zakaro, all the best for your camps and I'll have a summaryof what's gone down ready for you when you return (though I've currently got no idea how far we'll get in that time).

I have a couple of questions before I make my next post.

First, when you say that Tawhito is reassembling the group that had previously met, am I right in assuming that includes Kware?

And second, physically speaking, what exactly are the long-term effects of the "pain gun" the Dark Hunters used on the captives? I didn't get the sense that Turano was physically scarred when he returned; he seemed more psychologically worn out that anything.

Kama is very much open for interaction. Forgot to mention this in my last post.

Yes, it includes Kware, and Teota if she wants to come along, and is feeling up to it.

Yes, your impression was spot on. The pain gun has no long-term physical effects. It isbasically a ray of psionic energy, so it effects only the mind. As for the long-term effects there, I suppose it would the the same as any other form of torture.

About the Hammer plotline that had them attacking Guard HQ while everyone was away: I've quietly dropped this because of the 2 PC Hammer characters, one had gone inactive (Zakaro only gave me Tarua for July) and the other wasn't posting. We'll move the guards on with their plot and try to get the Hammer doing something interesting later.

Ahktu, perhaps Kama could interact with Party Poison's character, Sorquva, or find some excuse to be a part of Tawhito's meeting.

Yeah now that I think about it, Kama would be exactly the kind of person who would make up excuses to get into meetings.

And I might make a Hammer PC later.

I just edited another little bit into my last post. I had intended it to be in there from the start, but just forgot to put it in. Sorry about that, Ahktu.

It's fine. Thanks for adding that in and giving Kama something to do, though. :D

Okay, some questions.

First off, is there still room to join? I don't want to jump into the middle of a story or something.

Secondly, Is there a limit to how many characters we can each have? Could I control a whole team on my own (if I so desired)?

And third, can I have characters that I use in the Official BZPRPG?

Hi Jakura Nuva. Welcome to the game.

  1. Yes, you can still join. The more the merrier! We are in the middle of the story, but hopefully we can get around that and find a way to get you and your characters into the action quickly.
  2. There is no limit to how many characters you can have. The thing is though, there aren't really teams as such in Katipo. There are groups of people who share goals, like the Miners Corporation and  the City Guard, but they aren't like Toa Teams. They're more like organisations. Which you can join or, if you wish, maybe create your own. I have to say though, most of the interesting stuff is going on with the already established factions, particularly the guard at the moment. If you mean a kohlii team though, you can absolutely do that. Knock yourself out.
  3. Well, yes and no. You can create a character who is very similar to one you have in the BZPRPG, with the same name, mask, whatever, but they won't really be the same character, because one lives on a tribal island and one lives in an underground city. How they came to be there will change their backstory and that might change the type of person they are. So you can take a character out of another game into this one, but they journey from one universe to another will change them a bit.

A quick notice to everyone playing this game:

Last night I was biking home after classes when I was broadsided by a driver who failed to give way, and this resulted in a fractured vertebra, among other things. At this stage I'm not sure whether this will mean I have less free time to put into RPing or if I'll be spending more time sitting in front of a computer rather than doing other, more active things. Either way, I will do my best to keep City in the Dark active and complete the story by September. There is more to this mystery yet to be discovered, and I can't wait for us to do that together.

However real life turns out to effect how this game goes, I'll keep you posted.
