Inika weapon wont stop flashing

After I originally quit buying Bionicle sets in 2005, I *finally* got my hands on a Toa Hahli Inika set (the swirly marblyness!) second hand. The set and canister were in good condition but once I found some working batteries for her Laser Harpoon and pressed the button, it started flashing at full speed and wont stop unless I knock the batteries out.

I have other Inika tools and know that the flashing speeds up then slows down before stopping. I can only assume that the Harpoon has been damaged in some way over the years. Has anybody else seen this, and found any kind of remedy?

Thanks!

Only way to fix this I can see is to rewire the inside of it.

If I actually tried putting all the stuff I like on here, the sig would burst.

First thought: holy cow, this is awesome.

I've never had this problem, nor have I seen anyone else who has. I'd just recommend keeping the batteries out, then just popping them in when you want for a SUPER POWAH NONSTOP INIKA WEAPON.
