emily
I've seen a few attempts to recreate MetalBeard's film appearance around the net, but they've all fallen short of total accuracy by a significant measure. I looked back through the film and determined all of the differences, created an LDD model, ordered the parts I needed, and got to building. And the back There are a ton of minute differences between the film version and the final set, so I won't attempt to cover them all in text. Suffice to say most of the changes seem to be in the interest of stabilization and economy of parts. His right foot, peg leg, and back are the only parts constructed completely differently, but there are tiny changes throughout the model. If your interested in seeing everything in more detail, here's the LXF: This is the link to the LXF I just mentioned I believe I used the wrong color for the light grey parts in the LDD model, my bad. If you want to try your hand at building the model physically, note that there are a few parts that don't exist in the correct colors. The gears atop MetalBeard's shoulders should be dark grey, but only come in light grey. The chain from his chest to his shark arm should be metallic. I'm also fairly certain that the brackets holding his treasure chest are supposed to be gold. And that's all there is to say, I suppose. Arg! believe victims
One notable thing is that perfectly-accurate Metalbeard is impossible, as in film, he uses the flat gold color that was discontinued in 2006. Otherwise, though, you've done an excellent job. I've been meaning to fix up my Metalbeard for a while, but after the Micro Manager ran up a big price tag, I've been biding my time on that. Also, I'm pretty sure this belongs in SBC, like my Micro Manager.

Looking at some screenshots it's definitely not the 147 Sand Yellow Metallic that Takanuva and Toa Lhikan used. The flag in particular betrays this (though it could pass for 127 Gold, the color used for the earliest C-3PO minifigures, or 310 Metalized Gold, a.k.a. Chrome Gold). It's possible the differences from the current 297 Warm Gold are simply due to lighting effects, or simply imperfect CGI rendering. I imagine the reason the gears were changed in the set is because a lot of Technic gears are color-locked. The gears of the Exo-Suit proposal on LEGO Ideas were removed from the final model for the same reason — those ones are only allowed to be produced anymore in Brick Yellow (Tan). 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
Makaru
To me the parts look spray painted in the movie, because they don't look like any of the golds I've seen produced commercially. Top notch alterations, though. Well done. 1 Quote Spoiler Alert
Smitty
The changes are so minor that I hardly notice any at all, although I don't have a Metalbeard in hand to compare so... Interesting note the Metalbeard in the LEGO world is the one from Metalbeard's Duel, but the one in "the real world" is the one from The Sea Cow. Quote At some point you realize that you are but a speck in the Universe. That you time in this worlds is but a blink. You see the whole of reality as it unfolds before you. You try to see how far you can reach, and it’s not that far past your face. But then you come back from the brink. You hold them in your arms again. And you know that you are where their world begins. You are their rock.
Ghidora131
If this the finished piece, congratulations. I have one fault, though. The left hand? The current piece there is hero factory, in the movie it was bionicle.

I did find this image, which seems to be from the video game, that uses the classic socket piece. Oddly, it looks like a weird amalgam of the movie and set versions of the character, with the socket being an odd detail thrown in.
