Stargate: The Ring of the Gods

Recommended Posts

It has been an ambition of mine to build as accurate of a Stargate as I could, and this summer I finally had the pieces I believed necessary to complete this goal. Without further ado, I present the central object of the television franchise Stargate: SG-1 that began twenty years ago in 1994 with the movie Stargate:

My BrickShelf has a few more photos, and my Flickr has the pictures featured currently.

This particular diorama is designed to fit right in with the Pharaoh's Labyrinth display at BrickFair VA 2014, as another portion of the Egyptian rooms leading to the pharaoh's tomb and treasure, such as the other two vignettes I've made.

Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate Univserse were some excellent television shows that ran on Starz and Sci-Fi/Syfy channel, about military explorers that used the Stargate to open up a portal to another Stargate on a planet elsewhere in our galaxy (and later across the universe). Traveling on expeditions for 17 seasons and a few movies, they have stopped several alien threats to Earth and other civilizations. There is quite a bit of Egyptian mythology used, and later on Norse and Arthurian Legend is also revealed to have been key factors in Earth and its conflict with other races. A science fantasy show like this is worth checking out!

Speaking of BrickFair, here is what it looked like with everything else!

Next, I need some golf clubs to recreate the best episode ever!

So this is clearly not Teal'c from the early seasons, right? :P You know because he's not all  :plain:  (I am shocked that my spellcheck didn't tell me Teal'c was a non-word)  But in all seriousness, you did a really good job.

You make me want to watch Star Gate. Which I probably will end up doing soon. Very soon.

You definitely captured the mood and feel of SG, and the simplicity of it is great too! Nothing over zealous or cluttered. Remind you, I express my artistic skills with a pencil and not with lego, so I honestly am very awed how one can make fantastic pieces of art like this, so I don't have a lot of room to offer suggestions or to go further in depth as to why it's awesome. Simply know that it is and I love it!

I'm so sorry I won't be able to see it in person!

Very impressive, you got the shape done very well and smoothly and stuff. It just has this great flow to it that it's hard to tell that it was made of Lego. The characters are also great, and I hope this gets lots of attention at BrickFair!

(Although looks a tad large to put into a WH13 model :P )
