New Mixels Revealed at San Diego Comic Con

It's been a crazy weekend of new LEGO exclusives at SDCC, and here's one more for you: Joe Meno, editor of Brickjournal, has posted pictures of three new brand-new Mixels revealed just yesterday. Nurp-Naut, Burnard, and Globert will all be released this February for $4.99 USD apiece. Will these googly-eyed wonders never cease?

gotta say, Burnard looks kinda..... messy. like, his facial area is very incohesive besides the eyes. idk maybe he looks better from other angles but every image i've seen so far doesn't give me high hopes.

 

Nurp-Naut and Globert, meanwhile, are nice designs. It seems like these series don't care as much as the first series about avoiding color overlap, which means we might see some interesting color combinations using previously-used colors.

Since the time when I reported this news, the LEGO Group posted some early renders of these three to their Facebook along with coverage of their other displays and reveals at SDCC. You can see them all in this gallery.

 

It turns out that Globert is Earth Blue, so chances are he'll be from a new tribe, as will Nurp-Naut. But Burnard looks like an Infernite, so we might also be seeing some new members of existing tribes in Mixels Series 4. Nurp-Naut is definitely the wackiest of the new Mixel designs revealed so far. I'm not sure how I feel about the color scheme, which feels less carefully coordinated than the color schemes for the earlier tribes.

 

I like the creative new things being done with cartoon eyes in next year's series. Burnard couples this year's ball joint eyes with the new 2x2 inverted dome for a unique effect, Globert has a 4x4 glowing radar dish as an eye with a 2x2 black tile as the pupil, and Nurp-Naut has a half-closed eye print.

Okay, I really don't like these Mixel, they look really bad but Burnard looks okay but that lightsaber piece really bugs me but the other two are odd and I really dislike Nurp-Naut.

I personally think the Mixels are quite creative. My problem with them is that they were created for kids but they don't seem to have much to offer in terms of playability. And these are no exception. Unless you simply like collecting them, of course.

I suspected as much when I saw a second clear hemisphere on the back of their head. Given the fairly rare ability among mixels to turn the head, I'd be willing to bet they'll have a split personality, switched by turning the head a la good cop/bad cop.

 

this is probably too much to hope but JUST MAYBE if they're doing alien/space-themed mixels we can finally see a max with an abnormal amount of eyes, like four, instead of the boring-ol 2 all of them have had so far iirc

Durr, my bad! I misread your post. I agree it'd be great to see a Max with more than two eyes, especially after seeing some of the amazing entries in Brickset's recent contests.
