TheMegazordman1
I say the Makuta are the demons of the bionicle universe because of a few reasons . 1- There are multiple parallels between Teridax and Lucifer including trying to over throw Mata nui who in this story is basically God . 2-The makuta where originally good they where created to make rahi in the MU but then turnedon Mata nui like Lucifer and his angels who then became demons. 3-They have no physical form. Both the makuta and demons are stuck to having to posses something to have a physical form the makuta just need a robot body or armor that can contain the antidermis. 4-In the end they always lose. No mater what they are akuta or demon in teh end they will lose because as we all know Good will always prevail over evil in the end .

Ballom Nom Nom
Not really. In the original 2001 lore Makuta was referred Mata Nui's brother, an equal rather than a subordinate like Lucifer was. The conflict between Makuta and Mata Nui was framed as between deities of good and evil, and the analogy doesn't really hold. I'm ignoring the later decay of Makuta's character of course, but I think that's sensible. ~B~
Archon~
If anything Mata Nui is more like Thor, and Terry is like a post-puberty Loki. 2 Archon *** "For one to truly feel alive, the person must kill oneself a little bit each and every day." NorikSigma
1. Many bad guys like to overthrow people. 2. Good turning to bad usually makes for a riveting story. 3. Kind of coincidental. 4. This happens in EVERY story (except 1984). Yeah. So, no. Akavakaku
While they don't necessarily match the demons of a specific mythology, I think calling the Makuta demons isn't too far off. They're supernatural, shadowy, evil and super powerful beings. What more do you need? Holy Disciple of KEKKONEN
They're angels, the footsoldiers and servants of their god, Mata Nui. Almost godlike beings too eldritch and terrible to be truly comprehended by mortal eyes and ears, and the winged humanoid forms they take are only a smokescreen to hide the fact that they are literally composed of nothingness. The worst of their kind was corrupted by the cardinal sin of pride and formed a plan to overthrow their god and take his place.Accidental or not, the symbolism is there. It may or may not have been what the story team intended to imply at some point, but it most certainly is there.
TheMegazordman1
That is what I was meaning (I don`t know why I did not put it in the post.) I was meaning more on a symbolic level then a out right level.
Click
Eh, more or less. I suppose that if you look through many types of fiction you can find similar parallels. Many stories, whether consciously or subconsciously, follow the same Biblical conflict of good and evil. I guess Bionicle is no exception. It's interesting as I was drawing the same connections not too long ago myself. ~ Corpus Rahkshi: Fang | Hoto | Tube | Tear | Canvas | Garrotte | Reda BZPRPG: Azusai | Mitsuri The Scarabax Library | Flickr | Deviantart
bonesiii
Sorry, but see this from the S&T rules: No coincidence topics, such as "Makuta reminds me of the LOST Smoke Monster! Discuss!". As such the topic will now be closed. For the record, it's also iffy with our religion rule; there is a gray area with this in the S&T rules with comparisons in Bionicle, but since in this case it does count as a coincidence topic anyways, it will be closed primarily for that reason.
