What Happened To The Matoran Trying To Find Artakha?

Recommended Posts

I was reading the book BIONICLE World, and there's a part that says that, “...two Matoran on the island of Mata Nui started a quest to find Artakha. They failed and turned back."

Who are these Matoran? Was that ever mentioned before or after? And if it was mentioned, what happened to them?

Those 2 Matoran don't have names, and were part of an Online Game called "The Legend Continues" on MaskOfLight.com. They tried to find Artakha to escape from the island problems, but failed and found Teridax instead. They managed to escape, and decide that is best to stay out of adventure and maybe Artakha is only a mith after all.

There was a little choose your own adventure game on maskoflight.com to promote Bionicle mask of light, It featured generic Matoran 1 and generic Matoran 2, on their quest to find a place safe from Makuta. They get into various shenanigans, meet a bunch of main characters, and somehow end up in Mangaia.

The full details can be found here.

I'm going to assume that since you quoted the part that says what happened to them as far that adventure itself goes, you're asking what happened later. Answer: They went back to Metru Nui with everybody else.

The end. :P [/Desmond]

Edit: Okay... and then later moved to Spherus Magna. Okay now cue Desmond again. You get the picture.

Yes. To our knowledge, the game is canon. Its events aren't mentioned on BS01's Saga Guide or Timeline for the 2003 saga, but those pages are an utter mess anyway. Someday, I will revise them... but not today. :P

Last time I tried to do a major revision like that it was all reverted mercilessly.

I'm really surprised Greg was aware or even remembered that this game existed. Moreover, how would the Order of Mata Nui know that two stupid Matoran wasted a few hours trying to find Artahka?

BS01 is a lot quieter these days, so whoever was opposed to those edits is probably out of the picture. Unless it was Dorek, in which case you're out of luck. :P

I don't know if Greg still remembers this game. After all, it was 11 years ago, and he probably didn't have anything to do with it. Asking him about it now is doomed to failure. We just have to assume that, since there's no Non-Canon icon on its BS01 page, and that the two main characters are actually mentioned on our Ta-Matoran page, that Greg confirmed it at some point along the line.

Uh, fishers64? You there? Your Categorical Greg Reference could come in useful here...

The Order of Mata Nui knows everything :P

That is a good question though. I was looking through the book myself yesterday, and there's some stuff in there that I imagine would have been difficult for the Order to know. Seems like they were something of an omnipresent force within the MU.

No, I'm on vacation. :P (Also the Categorical Greg Reference doesn't technically exist yet...thanks for the guilt trip. :P)

3)Lastly, I read that when Takua found the Avohkii, two Matoran were inspired by this event to try and find Artahka, the Great Refuge. But they ended up in Mangaia, meeting face-to-face with Makuta, wishing that they never left. Is this true? If so, did makuta kill them?

3) No, Makuta did not kill them -- but that did happen, it was part of the online game connected to Mask of Light back in 2003. In fact, if you go to www.maskoflight.com and click on "The Legend Continues," the game is still available to be played.

[...]

Will Lego ever create a Bionicle video game that is considered fully canon?

LEGO does not create the video games, which is part of the reason they are pretty much not considered to be canon. The demands of a video game mean they are often in a situation of conflicting with the rest of the story.

It is actually not accurate for me to say that games are not considered canon -- much of MNOLG and MNOLG 2 and The Legend Continues are official. The ones that tend not to be canon are the video games, etc., which generally are not connected to story.

It's canon.

1a) Some recent expanding on our article on BS01 for the The Legend Continues game featured on MaskofLight.com has brought up some issues. It was initially said to be completely canon, is this still true?

1) Yes

Even in 2008.
