What sets/characters would you like to see come back?

Now that we know Bionicle is most likely coming back in 2015, I bring an important question to you! What sets/characters would you like to see come back in the next year and perhaps the years beyond? 

 

The one I am most hoping to see would definitely be Takanuva. Also, I think it would be cool if The Shadowed One came back, along with Artahka or Karzahni. Reply and let me know who you would like to see!

 

 

Edit: Also, I think this topic is different enough from the official Bionicle 2015 topic, seeing as how this is a big enough question to deserve its own topic I think. So... yeah... I don't think it will get closed. Fingers crossed.

Like you said Takanuva would be a great character to make a comeback in set form, another I can think of that I would like to see comeback is the last five of the Toa Inika/Mahri, Jaller, Hahli, Nuparu, Hewkii and Kongu, I think its been a long while since weve seen them in set form and they would be cool to have back in the story as well for years to come

Takanuva leading the Chronicler's Co. That would make me so unbelievably happy. Takanuva just needs an awesome, original gold set with a new Avohkii to redeem him from his last two forms.

 

Artahka would be good too (especially if that mask is the Mask of Creation).

I've heard nothing of the sort. What point would there be in retconning stories when there is no new story for them to get in the way of? Once BIONICLE comes back, THEN it might make sense to retcon things... but I think the LEGO Group would prefer to reboot the series completely than to confuse new and old fans alike by keeping some parts of the existing story and ignoring others.

 

Anyway, the Toa Mata are at the top of my list. After that, probably the Great Spirit Mata Nui... maybe not as a character, at least not right away, but at least as a concept.

 

Makuta would be nice as the series' most iconic villain but how he's used depends on the nature of the storyline. If it's a reboot, he'd be a great character to use, since he's the series' most iconic villain, and he could be re-imagined to trim away some of the more annoying aspects of his characterization. In a continuation of any kind (which is, admittedly, unlikely) I would not want him to return as a character, but I'd probably want his presence to be felt in some way, perhaps by introducing new villains who worship his memory and commit evil acts in his name. In my opinion, he is to BIONICLE what Ganon is to The Legend of Zelda.

I'd say they're canon. Velika's true identity was a large part of them, and Greg still talks about them, even giving small hints like the agent deal.

Vakama, and possibly the other six Turaga. Helryx would definitely be a good choice, even though she never had a set before. I'd also like to see Axonn in CCBS.

Hopefully there will be new colours to go along with the return. In that cause, I wouldn't mind seeing the Toa Inika/Mahri again, but with the original secondary colours.

 

Maybe another iteration of Onepu and Macku?

 

Hopefully the six Toa Mata return, though this seems likely as ever. I hope Takanuva does make a return as well. I agree - I was disappointed that his last two forms didn't have a trace of gold on it. Hopefully this time we'll get a faithful, canister-sized Takanuva.

Honestly it depends if it's in-universe or rebooted. If it's a reboot, I'd like to see Makuta, but perhaps with some different personality traits to differentiate him from Gen 1 Makuta.

I'd really like to see (besides Toa Mata) a lot of Makuta return, as well as some reimaginings of the Bohrok. They were just such cool little bad guys. A new Exo-Toa would be pretty sweet, too.

Jaller must come back. I don't care if he is brought back as a Matoran or a Toa; he was my first Bionicle set, as well as my first LEGO set!

I wouldn't mind Helryx and Artakha returning in set forms, seeing as Helryx was the first Toa created and Artakha wears the Mask of Creation. 

 

I think it'd also be awesome for the Toa Hagah who didn't get set forms in 2005 to return as sets.

Alright, someone here needs to have a really unusual opinion, I guess I'll take one for the team and volunteer.

Personally, I'm kind of hoping for no returning characters. Bionicle as a larger setting, a strange world with a wide variety of technobiological inhabitants, is great, and as a building system it was without question the best toy I had as a kid. But if Lego is going to release Bionicle again, the target audience is going to be different, and since they're likely to have no forknowledge of the series, and because Lego is likely to make it a reboot instead of trying to teach the old, incredibly convoluted lore to a bunch of young kids, that means the only reason to bring any of the old characters back at all is either as a nod to us old fans, or to save the work of making new characters. Which isn't bad, I suppose, but a new Bionicle provides the possibility for a fresh start. It provides the chance for Lego to change some of the stranger aspects of the canon, such as the gendered elements, with impunity. I think it would be unfortunate if Lego didn't take the opportunity to update some things, and one of the biggest updates they could make would be an all-new cast, untethered by the long spiraling history of the old Bionicle. They don't have to make the new sets fit in to the old story, so why not take advantage of that fact?

But, if Lego does start bringing back old characters... Krakua would be cool. Everybody likes a Toa of sonics, right? It would be neat to finally have an official set of one. I have to agree on Artahka and Karzahni, more characters with serious set potential, especially when the inevitable titan sets start coming out. And the Toa Hagah, sure. Heck, any of the Dark Hunters, there are a lot of interesting characters there that never had actual sets.

The chance of no old characters coming back is slim to none, moslty due to leaks, but I can see your point about that. 

 

However, I do think Toa Krakua would be a sweet character to see come back. His role never was expanded upon in Bionicle's first arc, and I would like to see him get some more development.

I'm hoping for rebooted Piraka at some point. They're the perfect anti-Toa and I think Lego could really pull it off, since the BA monsters were kinda close to the Piraka aesthetically. I'd love it if they could also keep some of their rare old colors, too...
