How large is Mata Nui/Metru Nui ?

Sooooo, I kinda suck in this Kio/Bio lenght thing, and I also suck at real-life units of length, so I ask this: Is there something we can compare Mata Nui and Metru Nui with, like a real-life Country, or State or Island ?

 

Mata Nui was 357 Kio in length and 178 Kio wide, while Metru Nui is 47,6 Kio long and 24 Kio wide, and I honestly have no Idea how big or small this is. I just want to have an Idea on how big these Islands are.

BS01 says that Mata Nui was 303.91 miles in length and 151.53 miles wide, which would give the island an area of roughly 46,000 square miles (119,269 square kilometers), making it a bit bigger than the US state of Pennsylvania and close to the size of Malawi, an African country close to Madagascar.

 

Metru Nui is cited as 65.2 km long and 32.88 km wide, so that's an area of roughly 2144 square kilometers (828 square miles), making it smaller than the state of Rhode Island and close to the size of the island of Comoros, which is between Madagascar and the continent of Africa.

I was wondering about this as well. So that's the size eh? That's a fair size. Not a huge population for those Matoran anywho, so it's not far-fetched.

Actually I think you are overestimating these sizes. It's true that we know the width and height of Mata Nui to be 243,86 km and 489,09 respectively, but you can't just multiply those with each other to get the area: Mata Nui is not a rectangle. I would personally guestimate it around 70.000 square km, which would make it a fair bit smaller than Iceland. The same goes for Metru Nui: Metru Nui isn't a rectangle either.

Yeah, I know the area is a lot less than the calculations I got 'cause of all the ocean/sea of protodermis around the island in that perimeter, but it's still a good way to picture the size because Rhode Island and Pennsylvania are rectangular so you can just picture the islands fitting neatly inside/on top of them. It was good to point that out to avoid confusion, which I forgot to do

I always thought Mata Nui was the size of Greenland and Metru Nui was the size of Great Britain. After reading the other posts here, I feel a little silly now. xD That would make for a truly colossal robot!

If that had been the case, the MU would probably be under Teridax's control and Mata Nui would be dead.
