Best Mask for Kopeke?

It's fairly well known that Kopeke changed his mask from a Komau to a Matatu. Which one do you think suits him better?

Also is there any idea as to why his set form changed his mask and color scheme? Just a wonder.

EDIT: Another Kopeke question: Do you think it was a good idea to make him chronicler? I find it very strange that he was chosen considering how shy he is.

I think the Matatu looks really good on him. Better than the Komau IMO.

I don't know why his colors were changed set-wise. Story-wise, I guess it could be possible that his color scheme changed when he rebuilt himself. But I have no proof that this is the case.

As for him being Chronicle, BS01 states that he was given this title because he got the most votes to become the next Chronicle from a contest right here on BZP. So we're to blame for that. :P

Joking aside, Bionicle Legends 8 says that, story-wise, Kopeke was given the title because he was quiet, meaning he was likely to listen to the tales told to him.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

Meh, I'm not buying the reasons as to why he became chronicler. Just seems strange. In order to record events I find that the chronicler would have to be social/not so shy in order to step up and catch the tale. If you're so shy how are you ever going to find the guts to be near others and understand them? In history one has to understand someones motivations. I feel like just being there and listening well isn't enough to justify one to be a chronicler.

I also would guess that story wise his colors were changed during the rebuilding. I'm just wondering more about what the set designers were thinking. I think light greys and light blues look good but black is way too dark for something like ice.

I personally think the Komau looks better for him. It was also the way he was shown in MNOG (which is perfect in every way :P ).

I always knew him with the Matatu from the 03 set, since I didn't see his MNOG version until several years later (I was 4 when it came out and didn't yet know what the internet was, and when I played it after the fact. I never got very far until I played it again recently) . That's part of the reason I'm planning on making a Matatu-wearing Mctoran version of him out of parts from Brucklink.

I would rather have him wear the Noble Komau, because I just don't like Noble Matatus in general. They look too war-like in my opinion.

I sort of like having Kopeke as the Chronicler. Often a quiet personality will also be an observant one, since he doesn't waste his time asking questions.

I like him better with the Matatu. I guess I'm more used to it, because I was only six when MNOG came out, and by the time he had the Matatu, I was getting really into Bionicle.

Considering our other option for chronicler was Taipu, I prefer it to be Kopeke. Taipu doesn't seem like he has the attention span, or the ability to listen closely enough. XD

The mask was changed sol as to introduce as little new pieces as possible (my guess anyway) the only new pieces from the 03 matoran other then the body assembly, was hahli's feet in navy blue, but none of the masks were new for them, the komau wasn't new either, but it would mean making light blue feet, instead of gray, which came with nuparu, which do I prefer... both actually, the dark gray adds a different feel that the light blue doesn't the fact that it's dark gray makes him feel as though he doesn't belong, and I think that is actually a good thing, think takua, (light blue was a color on him by the way) his color scheme was different, now, I do prefer the light blue on takua, and wish they would have left out the dark blue, but each matoran had something to help diversify them, and the dark gray I think hits that better then light blue, just a thought.

I prefer the blue Komau portrayal as I'm familiar with it through several MNOLG clips, whereas the Matatu version never showed up anywhere important.

I think changing him from blue to grey in 2003 was probably to make his set more distinct from Matoro (the other Matoran pairs that year all have varying colours), though I don't know why they changed his mask.

Several Ko-Matoran in the MNOLGs actually use dark grey.

thank you for pointing that out, I never really got around to those games much, and I do technically agree, I'd rather have a komau, but I'm fine with either color, just, the sake that it's not just another matatu, other elements introduced more masks to their element.

example based on sets

fire: tahu's and jaller's hau, takua's pakari, vakama's huna (3 different masks)

earth: onua's and onepu's pakari, whenua's ruru, and nuparu's pakari (2 different masks)

Except that I'm fairly sure the Komau was meant to be sand blue, since light blue wasn't used as an ice color until, I think, Thok in '06. (The fact that, in MNOG, Templar represented light blue, sand blue, and teal with the same color does make it a little confusing.)
