Hapori Tohu
Today we take a quick break from Ninjago Month to bring you a review of a licensed set. BZPower Forum Assistant Zatth has decided to share his thoughts on 76019 Starblaster Showdown from the LEGO Marvel Superheroes line of sets. Will you let this set back into your heart or is wanting it just some silly phase you're going through? You'll have to read and watch the review to find out! Click
I loved Guardians of the Galaxy so much, especially for the design, so of course (being too cheap to get the Milano, which I really want), I got this set. Really, I was rather unimpressed. The ship really isn't all that accurate to the movie at all, which I understand is because of the limits of Lego pieces and minifigure sizes, but come on! Lego could do better than this! I will admit the back is pretty cleverly constructed, but it's a pain to adjust the fins. It would have been amazing for Lego to include just some simple function that pops them open. Although this is a cheap set with decent minifigures, if you love the movie, I would pass on it unless you really want Starlord for (relatively) cheap. believe victims
I don't think it was mentioned in the article, but the Star Lord minifigure in this set is, I believe, exclusive to it; this one represents Star Lord with his distinctive red jacket, while the Milano minifigure is him in his red jumpsuit. IMO, this is the preferable fig, if only because his jacket is such a distinctive, character-filled outfit. That being said, I got the minifig off Bricklink because I didn't want to buy this set for one minifigure, and got the Milano instead. xccj
Eh, I thought some of the recolors were worth it; there are a few nice elements in dark blue that I managed to put to use anyway. (Cheeeeeese slopes) The Nova ship is really fun and a nice design, and it's close enough to the one from the movie that it's quickyl recognizable. The Sakaaran ship, however, is pretty lame. Too small, too undeveloped. It would've been nice if they had released a decent sized version in it's own $20-30 set, where they could've done it justice. Figs are good, tho I gave away my Star Lord fig which I may come to regret. Decent review, and decent set. Thanks for putting this together, Zatth!!
