2Tie
I can't be the only person here who enjoys speedrunning games, right? Riiight? Anywho, after curiosity led me to find Ghabulous Ghoti's 53:52 run of MNOG, I was pretty sure I could go faster with a better route, and a few days later I ended up with a faster time of 47:33 (which has been unfortunately lost due to Twitch's purge of past broadcasts). I'm sure there were other people who might be interested in speedruns of Bionicle games, so voilà, here's a topic for keeping track of records and planning routes and such! (and yes i am aware that a topic was made before but that was a year ago and i don't want to necropost and hopefully this topic will be better) So far the only game I've really found runs of is MNOG any%, though the old topic had some really nice advice for VNOG. If that person (or anyone) could record a run of that, instant world record heh. Anyways, here's a leaderboard! Records: MNOG any% (Rules: Beat the game as fast as possible. Must start without backpack and lightstone.) #1: 49:59 by 2Tie (definitely beatable) #2: 53:52 by Ghabulous Ghoti I'm been working on routing MNOG2 on-and-off for a little bit, seems like without Kohlii and stat grinding the game should be beatable in roughly three hours. I'm thinking two categories, one that allows skipping kolhii matches and one that doesn't (though who would be insane enough to run that? ), with the debug menu not allowed in either (with the possible exception of resetting a room if a glitch happens). VNOG is beatable in seemingly an hour and a half. Pretty much any console/handheld Bionicle video game should be fair game, as well as any online game that seems runnable. (Example: Rhotuka Spinner Challenge is not speedrunnable. Autoscroll-type games where all playthroughs are roughly the same time without deaths will also be most likely rejected [though I'd happily accept Draw A Piraka for laughs]). Exact rules for each game is pretty much up to the people that run them, though no cheats and no game-altering modification is disallowed. Want to submit a run? Feel free to link it in a reply or a PM to me. Video proof is a must, and please have it all in one video if you can. If it looks legitimate, I'll add it to this post (don't worry, I'm not picky, I can almost guarantee that if you don't cheat, it's accepted). Definitely currently looking for VNOG and BIONICLE: The Game runs, though as I said before, most games are fine. Need help routing a game? Here's prolly the best place as ever! UngluedBike
What about Bionicle heroes? I know it's mainly button mashing, but I reckon that the game is beatable in maybe 3 hours or less? 2Tie
It's been quite a while since I've played Heroes, though from my playthrough and watching a friend play it, it seems like it'd be longer, perhaps between five to eight hours? Then again I've never started a second playthrough with knowing the levels, though I don't think knowing the levels better would help much, pretty linear if you're not getting bonuses. GBA Heroes could prolly be completed much faster. 100% Heroes would be around 16-20 hours, according to a couple achievement guides :c Quote ~Bionicle Online Games Guru~ Current Bionicle Sets: 232/250 2001: 23/24 2002: 20/21 2003: 22/22 2004: 22/22 2005: 23/23 2006: 16/22 2007: 22/22 2008: 25/27 2009: 26/26 2010: 4/6 2015: 18/18 2016: 11/

2Tie
As far as I know, this is now the forum for discussions regarding official Bionicle media. 2Tie
I do believe I've hammered out a route for MNOG2 that should have it beatable in roughly threeish hours! Some quick side-notes about the route/the game in general: Kolhii matches can be insta-won by making the game window taller and clicking the Win Match button. Plants and the snow wastes are the only real sources of randomness in this route, though luckily the plants are right at the beginning of the run and if you don't get the bamboo poles before Nokama arrives you can just reset without much wasted time. If someone could give some insight on exactly how the wastes are generated (in hopes of making navigating it easier), it would be much appreciated. Here's the finished route, with explanation below: **timer starts when you gain control of Hahli**grab harakeke, 20 cowrie, and 6 seaweedfix roof, recieve disk, grab shellplace shell, go up ladderknock weight loose, extend bridge, enter ga-korograb bamboo and purity charm from shipyardsmake hatchet and a fishhook. cut all bamboo, make sickle.cut the harakeke in front of hahli's hut (at least 18). make 6 more flax.deliver flax to sailor, make 1 string[6 widgets]buy an air bladder[1 widget]**farm bamboo from here on out, up to 75**make 5 bamboo poles. if you were fast enough, the alarm should start sometime soon after this.*nokama returns*get free kolhii stick, go to nokama to accept match#1win match, collect Unity and Speed charms from sailor and weavergo to boat, sail to G6, puzzle is random, collect crystal of purity (UPS)[0 widgets]return to dock, leave Ga-Koro==GA-KORO DONE==head to onu-koro(north-most path at xroads)in the great mine, collect Digger and Lightstone (use your air bladder to reach cave 5)deliver digger and lightstone. retrieve Azibo's sluice, gain charm of Prosperity[70 widgets]kolhii match#2talk to taipu for Stamina charmbuy 10 nails, 2 air bladders [0 widgets]leave onu-koro for now.Head over to Ko-koro (leftmost path, right path)collect the Destiny (right rope, rope) and Peace (left rope, rope) charms.craft five flags (left rope, cave)head to the Sanctuary, accept match#3, win match#3head into wastes. two flags on starting side.one flag at each location (place off-center if statues before collecting the charm)collect Willpower charm, collect crystal of peace (Destiny ^Peace^ Willpower)leave Ko-Koro==KO-KORO DONE==head to Po-Koro(rightmost, log bridge)charm of strategy(mahi hut), creation charm, kolhii match#4crystal of creation (Strategy Creation Unity Destiny)=PO-KORO DONE==head to Le-Koro(leftmost at xroads, left, no bridge)head to accuracy range, obtain Accuracy charm. head to matau's hut, get Faith charm, accept matchwin match#5leave le-koro for nowhead to ta-koro(cross bridge)go to Vakama's hut, accept match#6win match#6Championship!collect charms of Duty and Courage.leave ta-koro for nowhead to onu-koro againswim straight to the bottom of the great mine (use your 2 bladders)collect crystal of prosperity(Prosperity Stamina Destiny Duty)leave onu-koro==ONU-KORO DONE==head to le-koro once morereturn to matau's hutgo up the left ladder (Faith Unity Duty Accuracy), get crystal of faith up right ladderleave le-koro==LE-KORO DONE==cross ta-koro bridge again*oh noes rahkshi*collect charm of Strengthobtain the final charm, courage (Courage Duty Strength)place the charms in the 'toa stones' (Faith Creation)(Courage Peace Prosperity Purity)===GAME FINISHED===(My apologies if the route above is too skeletal, I typed it up to help remind me what to do next rather than explain whys. Explanation follows.) As I mentioned, the snow wastes are quite annoying, so we will definitely want some flags, which are made from two nails, a bamboo pole, and *one* seaweed (BS01 never specifies how much seaweed, and it makes me sad ). Used smartly, we can most likely get away with using five (or less) flags total in the wastes. That means we'll need 5 seaweed, 10 nails, and 5 bamboo poles (which is a whopping 75 bamboo!) *timing starts when you gain control of hahli instead of starting the beginning cutscene because the opening cutscene used to cause problems with flash*At the beginning we take care of the seaweed along with all the shells we'll need in the run (one for the first flax, three for additional flax, ten for a hatchet, five for a sickle, one for a fishhook), do the necessary flax, house- and bridge-fixing, then enter Ga-Koro. The first time you enter the plaza is when the game timer for Nokama's arrival starts, and until then, we want to get as much done as possible. The Purity charm is also obtainable before you're on the kolhii team, so we grab that along with the bamboo. We make our tools and a fish hook for Azibo's sluice, then harvest enough harakeke (18) to turn into enough flax (6) to make a ball of string, also for the sluice later. Delivering the first flax nets you six Widgets, which is spent on an air bladder (for the first Great Mine trip) and later on a ferry ride to G6 for the first crystal. The last bit of this time is spent focused on harvesting 75 bamboo and then turning them into 5 poles. (In my test run of this an hour ago, the arrival horns sounded some fifteen seconds after exiting Kotu's hut )After Nokama's arrival, it's a simple matter of getting the free stick, "winning" the first match, grabbing the charms from the weaver and sailor, sailing to G6, and getting our first crystal. At this point, we can leave Ga-Koro, never to return... We need things in Onu-Koro for Ko-Koro, we need Ko-Koro's charms for Ko-Koro and Po-koro, and the Ta- Onu- and Le-Koro can't be completed until after the championship, so we head to Onu-Koro first, straight into the Great Mine. The air bladder we bought earlier is used to traverse between caves 3 and 5 (both of which have items we collect, the Digger and Aiyetoro's Lightstone respectively), then we drown near the top of the cave 4/5 shaft to warp back at the top. From here we return the two items and retrieve Azibo's Sluice, netting us a charm and 70 Widgets. We set up and win a second match, snag the Stamina charm afterwards from Taipu, then spend our nest egg on 10 nails (for flags) and two air bladders (for our onu-koro crystal run later). Next up is Ko-Koro! In Ko-Koro, go up either rope at the beginning, then the next rope as well, to get the first two charms, and the cave on the left-hand-rope-side is where we get our five flags from. We have to get our kolhii match done first otherwise the crystal temple won't be openable, so we do that real quick, then slip into the wastes. TWO flags should be placed at the side you start at, and ONE flag should be placed after reaching any of the three other places of interest, though you only need/want the charm and then the temple. If the temple is found before the charm, placing the temple's flag off-center should be enough to let you find it again. (I hope I'm remembering how flags work right; I haven't messed with them in years o.o; ) After getting our second crystal, we are now finished with two Koros. The rest of the game from here on out is fairly straight-forward. Po-Koro is simply getting the two charms, winning the match, and getting the crystal, and then Le-Koro is getting the two charms and winning our fifth match. Our first visit to Ta-Koro should be pretty quick as well, accepting our sixth match, winning the championship, grabbing the two charms and leaving. From here, we return to Onu-Koro, using our two air bladders to dip straight to the temple and getting crystal #4, stopping by Le-Koro to get our fifth crystal, witnessing the destruction of Ta-Koro, and gaining the last charm and crystal. Place the crystals at the stones-that-represent-the-six-toa and timing ends when you lose control of Hahli. ...I think that's all. I hope to do a run or two in this upcoming week. (fun fact: my original route attempted to make and sell a kolhii stick before nokama arrived, and planned on doing the wastes unaided. i'm much happier with this one.) Pohatu: Uniter of Stone
I'm no good at grinding in MNOG 2, hence why I have never actually beaten it. That and I stink at Kohlii. I get destroyed by everyone except Onu-Koro. Normal MNOG is easy, though. 2Tie
@RahkshiToa88, Good thing there isn't much grinding in the route (just scrounging up some bamboo early on), and kolhii matches can be insta-won (I admit though, without insta-win kolhii i've never beaten it either)@Ras, nobody's forcing you to watch anything, nor is the topic about let's plays I'd much rather play games over watching people play them too, and that's what the topic is about, except the 'play games' part is quite a bit faster then normal If anyone else wants to try running mnog2, the BMP's offline versions should be the fastest, while Built-In Save is a window you can resize easily (for the kolhii matches) though if the Cookie save version uses a webpage, I could prolly edit it real quick to have a taller Flash player. Actually, that sounds like a good idea, for window-size-consistency sake... 2Tie
Yeah, if you make the game window taller, there's "Won Kolhii Match" and "Lost Kolhii Match" buttons that do exactly what they say.Sometimes they aren't clickable, but pressing tab until the desired one is highlighted and pressing space selects it.
