Steal the Mask 3

Onaku

Recommended Posts

I set loose upon you a crack team of top wall street lawyers who, through possibly illegitimate methods, manage to not only have the judge declare both the puppy and the mask my property, but it is decreed that you must pay for damages by surrendering your infinite power to me while agreeing never to acquire god-like energies again lest further fines be levied. Note: the judge has one of those funny white powdered wigs.

This keeps getting better and better. I'll honestly be sad when Onaku or whoever storms in to return things to normal.

Suddenly, a SWAT team burst in to arrest the judge, who suddenly reveals himself to have secretly been using the trials as a pretense for gaining unlimited power for himself. He pulls an Uzi from his powdered wig and a massive gunfight breaks out, distracting you from the implausibility of the scenario. I take the Mask in the confusion.

I only looked through a few pages before jumping in - what counts as "normal" around here?  :P

The sound of the Uzi, which is custom modified, triggers suppressed memories in one of the SWAT officers who is actually a sleeper agent for the KGB whose commanding officer was killed by this very custom Uzi in the false-Judge's previous attempts to gain unlimited power. As the sleeper is activated prior to a prime directive being transmitted to his cranial control chip, the emergency protocol of eliminating all witnesses kicks in. The threat priority subroutine places you at the top of the list. The KGB agent, who is cybernetically enhanced, also detects interesting energy readings coming from the mask, and decides that he must retrieve the mysterious object for the glory of the motherland. He catches up to you, and while you are locked in combat, I quickly snatch the mask and bail.

(Right now it's basically a bunch of Gods fighting over who can be the godliest of them all while the occasional normal person manages to still somehow pose a threat against all logic.)

You run right into a group of FBI agents, who I had alerted of the situation beforehand using my connections with the British Government. They take you in for questioning, and I steal the Mask in a daring raid on their headquarters after dealing with the KGB sleeper.

(Oh, forum games.... :D )

During my interrogation, I convince the FBI that you're the real threat and that the mask you possess is the key to controlling global oil trade. Upon explaining this, they open up all of their resources to me in exchange for promising to give them the mask upon capturing you. As a large contingent of international military forces, lead by yours truly, converge upon your position, I give the order to attack. As the military fights through your henchmen, I track you down and after a brief but totally cinematic duel on an unstable catwalk above a pit of lava, I question why you would have a pit of lava in your hideout, why you'd have an unstable catwalk above it why would you be on it while the hideout is under attack. Instead of answering, you pick this moment to attack. Incidentally, an explosion rocks the facility. I catch the mask before it falls into the lava, but you slip and end up hanging on the catwalk on one hand. "curse it" I say, and turn back to help you up, but I toss you to the other side as the catwalk collapses, saving your life but cutting off your route of pursuit.

I hijack an FBI helicopter, fly off to the easter islands where I open a souvenir shop selling tribal masks. I paint over the Ignika to hide the fact that it is golden and hang it on the wall among several replicas. Whenever someone wants to buy it, I say it was put away for another customer already. Living a simple life, the nagging fear that one day you will return to regain the mask eats away at me, causing me to become an alcoholic.

But hey, at the end of the day, my Mask.

I burn down your shop after viewing all of the vain attempts to sap power from TwilightVezon and make off with the mask. I inform local residents of your shady business deals, and they make it so you can never again chase your fleeting dream of owning and running a mask shop.

I hop into one of the large head statues, which is the cockpit of a massive underground secret mech that I hid as an emergency measure and catch you before you can get too far. I pummel you into the ground while shouting racist slurs in a half-drunken stupor. I grab the mask and make off into the sea, as the mech is built to survive extreme pressure. I stroll into the deepest point on the planet, cradling the mask covetously.

Thank goodness, I was worried that Inary had completely derailed the narrative.

By pure chance, you stumble upon a secret underwater base, built at that exact location. After breaking into the high-0ech facility and doing some investigating, you discover that the base is the secret headquarters for the notorious terrorist organisation B.R.E.K.S.T.A.! More importantly, you discover some files which prove that they had faked the shady deals to incriminate you, so that they could take the Mask for their own devious desires!

Before you can escape to clear your name, sirens ring out throughout the base and you find yourself captured and thrown in a cell. The masked leader of B.R.E.K.S.T.A. then arrives to taunt you, before revealing himself to have secretly been me, the mighty TwilightVezon, back for revenge! I then leave you locked in the cell, having taken the Mask for my own nefarious purposes.

While you may be a rogue terrorist organisation, you have pretty strict policies on your base and command your men with an iron fist while giving them low pay. Lacking loyalty as they only follow your orders out of fear, I easily bribe the guard with some hidden booze I had on me to set me free. Since he's been serving on the secret base since infancy, because you use child labour, his body is not used to alcohol so he quickly passes out. I steal his outfit, and since your thousands upon thousands of henchman are too expandable to memorize their faces, I easily blend in. I make my way to the command center which is conveniently a massive glass dome, because super-villains are stylish rather than practical. I shoot the dome, with shatters, causing water to flood in. As B.R.E.K.S.T.A personnel scurry throughout the base, trying to close airlocks, I grab the mask and escape in a shuttle. In the meantime, the all too familiar face of a large, blue and green four-armed being who was once imprisoned for slicing his island in two with a single strike appears. You theorize that our repeated meddling with cross-dimensional travel has caused some overlapping, however this theorization is cut short by a small but angry-looking orange squid being shot at you.

Meanwhile, I happily drive away in the submarine to safety. My Mask.

I effortlessly dodge the squid and deck Nocturn with one punch, before jumping into a submarine conveniently next to where i was standing so that I can chase after you. As my submarine is naturally more advanced than the standard model, I'm able to catch up enough to fire a torpedo aimed directly at your submarine!

I 'port into your sub and clock your head into its techy dashboard. I grab the mask, send bolts through the machinery, and watch as the sub goes down. With no more subs, we have to fight underwater, hand-to-hand.

Fortunately, at that exact moment my number two henchman, Morpheus, drives by in the prototype submarine which was conveniently in a functional state despite being unfinished. A claw extends from the bottom of the submarine and pulls me in, and special anti-teleportation shields prevent you from porting aboard. By pure luck, Pohaturon happens to be in range of the torpedoes, allowing me to fire another at his submarine and thus keep the tension up.

Suddenly, a rusted and decrepit hunk of metal emerges from a nearby crevice. Noxious debris litters the wake as the ancient submarine looms closer. We are all baffled as to how it is still functional. Ebbing closer, our intricate knowledge of history identify it as none other than the Red October. Through the gaping holes in the hull, sickly green lights illuminate bloated and rotting crewmembers, who, in spite of clearly being rather dead, are working the machinery. Two undead crewmember load toxic torpedos. As you two contemplate how awesome a zombie-Red October is, ignoring the obvious danger, I grab the mask and start swimming away. Luckily, the Kanohi Kakama works underwater too.

I send a sonic shockwave through the water, and your Kakama becomes powerless as it cannot gain enough friction through the water in order to move. I take it off of your face and I destroy it under the pressure of the water and the my hands. You are unable to move after I pierce various pressure points around your body and you become fodder to TwilightVezon's torpedoes.

Still your mask, but not for long.

All seems lost for Pohaturon when suddenly the torpedoes are shot down, and FBI submarines move in to rescue him. They move out just in time to avoid the gigantic explosion of the B.R.E.K.S.T.A. base, destroying everything in the vicinity.

However, as Pohaturon is being escorted to FBI Headquarters for debriefing, disaster strikes! The convoy is attacked by a vengeful TwilightVezon, and only the furious criminal mastermind and the unlikely hero are left as the road is littered with flaming debris. The pair fight as the street around them is consumed with flames, until TwilightVezon pulls out an RPG and fires a rocket at Pohaturon, aiming to finally vanquish his arch-nemesis!

(are we really ignoring zombie-Red October?)

Now lacking a Kakama, dodging the missile seems hopeless. However, I quickly remember that in my past adventures, I collected the other five Kanohi Nuva. Calling upon the powers of the Hau, I am unscathed by the RPG rocket. Grabbing one of the weapons discarded by an FBI agent, I fire a shot at your hand, causing you to drop the mask. The Ignika is now soaring through the air, seemingly in slow motion.

Whose mask is it?

Suddenly, cars are sent flying by the arrival of the Red October, which crashes through the streets in pursuit of the Mask. A swollen zombie reaches out through a hole in the hull and grabs the Mask, preparing to unleash it's awesome power against America.

(yay!)

What a twist! Acknowledging the the zombies of the Red October as a common threat, I and TwilightVezon temporarily join forces. In an epic battle we tear through the undead hordes until coming across the commanding officer of the vessel, who controls the fell energies that keep is reanimated men functioning. He seeks to corrupt the Ignika, turning it into the Mask of Death. In a final confrontation, we overload the various systems of the undead vessel, feeding energy into the captain. As he overloads, fell energies explode from his body, destroying the submarine, and sending the Mask, TV and Myself hurtling upwards in the air. We both catch the mask at the same time, and begin struggling to get ahold of it as we plummet back into the smoking crater below.

Our mask?

As we plummet together towards our shared oblivion, time itself appears to slow as we fight over the Mask. You manage to wrestle the Mask from me at the last moment, but it is a hollow victory as we both crash through the ground, the terrain beneath us shattering into glass shards as we both fall into an endless abyss filled with imagery beyond mortal perception.

These images are all merely conjured by our subconscious of course, as was everything else in this world. Such is the nature of dreams after all. It's Inary I pity. I wonder if he is aware of the nature of the world concocted by our mental faculties. Perhaps he'll be trapped there, lost in the world of his inner psyche.

Nevertheless, I wake up and take the Mask from you. I wake you up as well, if only because I like your creativity.

"Is it Monday already?" I mutter wiping the sleep from my eyes. Then I see TwilightVezon hurrying off with the mask. Seeing as the previous events were dreams, I still have my Kakama. I speed by you and snatch the mask. I am surprised when a few moments later you catch up to me - however seemingly the mask isn't your main concern. I glance back to see what motivates you to such speeds, and I see a massive wall of fire, stretching from horizon to horizon coming towards us. We keep running side by side until another wall of fire appears ahead, and then from every direction, closing in on us. Stopping, we do the only logical thing in this situation: we grapple over the mas. As the heat increases, your sweaty palms slip off the mask. I hold the mask, however out predicament of the flaming walls still plagues us.

TwilightVezon, Inary exists everywhere. Even in your subconscious. How on Earth did you think I could show up in your dreams? Or do you honestly think that little of me?

I absorb the wall of fire with the Spirit Buster, I take the mask, give you a thumbs up, and leave.

While the massive scorching walls of fire are no more, whoever is intent on destroying the planet won't give up so easy. Asteroids are being flung at the world, one of which hits Inary head-on. The explosion sends the mask flying, and I grab it mid-air with a jump that definitely scored some bonus points. Even so, asteroids rain upon this doomed world around us all.

As you watch the planet's destruction, you realize what it's source is - a massive fleet of inconceivably large ships more resembling cathedrals than spacecraft are raining righteous destruction and cleansing fire upon a heretical world. Exterminatus. You are detected by the fleet. No survivors are permitted to escape a world that has fallen to chaos, as you are clearly and agent of the dark ones. While literal millions of immense war-cruisers unload on you, the blast-waves tossing the mask further and further from you, I too escape the doomed world on a conveniently placed shuttle. I grab the mask and speed away before the Imperial navy decides to exterminatus me next.

(why did you break the narrative?!)

After a brief but odd departure which was no more than a commercial break in the timeline of the universe, I wipe the soot from my eyes and recover from the explosions of Inary's clones. As he speeds away with the mask, the fleet is bearing down upon us both. At this moment, a Tyranid hive fleet suddenly arrives and a massive space battle erupts. In the confusion, I grab the mask and quickly make a short, calculated jump to a planet which I happen to know has a dimensional portal on it. I pass through with no concrete destination, but not before rigging it to explode upon my safe departure. How could either Inary or TwilightVezon track me when even I don't know where I'm going?

(You expected them to stick to it? Besides, there's a reason one of the rules in the first post specifically states to "keep it simple". I know we tend to follow the rules quite loosely, but it was narrative like this which ended Steal the Mask 2.)

Fortunately for me, I can sense the Mask anywhere in the multiverse. I can also travel between dimensions, so I immediately teleport to you once I realise that the Mask has been taken from this dimension. I take the Mask from you before trapping you in a block of ice.

(I'll stick to it nonetheless  :P )

Seemingly out of nowhere, I jump in, roundhouse kick the taxi back at TwilightVezon, who easily dodges it. However, I followed close behind, altering my trajectory by just enough to stay covered by the taxi while still veering close enough to TV in order to snatch the mask. I flee into a nearby nebula with the mythic properties of nullifying all special powers of the infinite, cosmic, godlike variety, as well as all other types of peculiarly convenient omnipotence. The nebula is also thick and colored, making tracking me a truly difficult task.

It turns out that I am the nebula. After TwilightVezon had destroyed by cosmic forme by blowing up his own body, my essence had filled large empty space left in the wake of the destruction, slowly but steadily forming a massive nebula with previously described properties. Although I take no action toward you, my apparent replacement in the nemesis-of-TwilightVezon role, the very presence of the mask within me allows me to claim it as-

I use my own cosmic abilities to condense your nebulaic form into a massive cluster of giant stars. The sudden shift in gravity thus pulls all of the stars together into a massive singularity. You are torn apart by your own very essence and I vanish with the mask into the universe itself.

As I tire from the extreme overuse of the rather unimaginative trope of cosmic power and omnipotence, my cynicism on the matter becomes so acute that I develop a permanent immunity to all effects of "cosmic power", "godlike power" and "omnipotence". I stroll up to Inary, simply take the mask and walk away.

Being made of benign metal, the ninja star strikes my Kakama and bounces off, yet leaving a scar. Now you've done not, not only did you steal the Ignika, but you scratched my mask. It's going down, mate.

In epic slow-mo, I approach you with a stern look. I shoot off a quippy one-liner and you respond similarly. We begin to duel in the mists of the power-cancelling nebula, left only with mundane means of combat. After some frenzied clashes, you managed to land a few effective blows. We pause momentarily, and as you flash your signature smug smile, as seen in your avatar, reveling in the fact that you've seemingly bested me, I too smile, though cringing. I might be wounded, my I lift my hand to show that I allowed you to land a few hits while I focused on snatching the Ignika instead of fighting you. Using my Kakama, I turn tail, zooming through the mists of the nebula at immense speeds, practically daring you to pursue me.
