More Pictures of the Toa

The BIONICLE page on Facebook has yet again been updated: Meet the 6 heroic Toa from LEGO BIONICLE. It is their destiny to find their masks of power, battle evil and save the island. There are two pictures of pretty high resolution for each Toa, showing off awesome dual-function weapons and cool scenery in the background. The wait is finally over, folks - and it was worth it. Which new Toa is your favorite?

Pohatu is riding a tornado, everyone. I know I've said it elsewhere, but it needs to be said again. And it just makes him that much cooler. :)

Also, there are two planets in the background of his pictures. I wonder if they are simply moons or other planets entirely.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

I love how these are a throwback to the old Toa and Nuva designs, from the masks to the multi-use tool functions. They look more like the Toa we know and love than the Phantoka and Mistika did. I can't wait until we get some actual (real world) set pictures!

Freaking excellent. I love how these Masters/Toa have dual functioning weapons, kind of reminiscent of the Toa Nuva. This so-called "adrenaline mode" is a nice gimmick and a lot better than a tacked-on, oversized launcher.

The Masters are so awesome. Tahu is amazing, with sweet weapons and a coherent colour scheme. Love his mask as well - it's very Hau-like but with it's own twist. Kopaka is perfect. Awesome, armoured design and the new Akaku is so true to the original. Onua's Pakari is faithful and his design is really nice and original, and the return of purple is always welcome.

Lewa is cool, definitely a completely new take on Miru (kind of reminds me of the Matatu Hordika actually) but the return of Mata green makes me a happy man. The orange in the colour scheme works nicely too. Now, Gali's Kaukau isn't the best, but it does look very organic. My problem with her and Pohatu is their colour schemes. I'm still not over the amount of silver and grey that was used for secondary colours in the past Bionicle line and it definitely doesn't look amazing here either. I like the Kakama and the orange-ish/brown colour scheme for the latter but again, his design doesn't seem super inspired.

I see the spiders in every set, and think "those look like masks". I bet they are. Kind of disappointed that spiders seem to appear multiple times in one year of LEGO sets though.

And I am so glad the gears are back. The gearbox design is quite clever and adds a complexity that I have felt was missing from Bionicle a lot towards the end of its run.

Gonna probably pick up all of these.

Pohatu is riding a tornado, everyone.

"I am the ring-tailed roarer! I can draw faster, shoot straighter, ride harder, and drink longer than any man alive! I'm the rip-snortingest cowboy that ever rode north, south, east, or west of the Rio Grande! I AM PECOS BILL!"

Sorry, but someone needed to say it.

These designs are awesome! Story looks decent so far too, we'll have to see where it goes. But if nothing else, I love the look of these sets! Hope Tahu isn't too expensive, I want to buy one.

The dual-function weapons are back, and that is great. Never guessed Gali's fins would become a huge axe. Kopaka's dual sword becoming skates is predictable but good. I was quite surprised to see Lewa Nuva's flight style incorporated into Lewa '15. Onua's dual function is somewhat less impressive, but it makes sense for him. Pohatu's is quite cool, him riding a tornado makes sense now. Tahu's is perfect. I thought those little swords he had while riding on his lavaboard looked a bit small, but it seems if he needs something bigger, he's got it! And it's a Lhikan callback. What's not to like?

Good pic of the Skull Spiders.

Very technic in design. Definitely digging it.

The function looks pretty much exactly how I thought it would. It does mean that one side of the legs will lift, then the other, giving a ridiculous walking motion. I guess it's probably too small to put something like good old Pewku in.

I quite like the general design of the sets (lots of features and elements I like such as the gears and weapons etc...) though I do agree the colour schemes seem a bit odd - I'm guessing there's a reason they put in the gold. Overall am quite happy and based on the sets I think Pohatu would be my favourite at the moment. :)

Tornado-riding, boomerang-shoes Pohatu is officially the most ridiculous  thing in Bionicle. And yes, I am including the time Karzahni tried to invade the universe with giant attack penguins and the fact that anyone would use a weapon with such an obvious flaw as the exploding boomerangs.

I thought you were just saying silly nonsense. Then I remembered the Manutri. Oh man....old Bionicle was crazy.

I really like how they look. Their red and black color scheme is cool too.

But despite that, I'm still getting the Mata first before I get one of them. B-)

Gears gears gears gears gears!  Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

It is not for us to decide the fate of angels.

Dominus Temporis, if you're out there, hit me up through one of my contacts.  I've been hoping to get back in touch for a long time now.  (Don't worry, I'm not gonna beg you to bring back MLWTB or something.  :P )

Lots of transparent colours too. Really digging that!

I absolutely love them all, besudes Gali (how shocking and unexpected)

I don't mind the hero factory build one bit, let's be honest, this build is much more practical than the inika build.

BUT I do mind that there aren't a lot of unique or new armor pieces, HF build is here since 2011 and there aren't a lot of armor options tbh.

On the other hand, this makes the fact that they're all pretty much unique even more amazing, I'm saving my money starting now!

Finally the wait is over and all our hopes of Bionicle ever to return were fulfilled. I love how the new sets looked especially their masks. I am counting the days to come when they start selling them in stores and I will be so excited to buy them all in once. Thank you Lego for bringing back our beloved Bionicle to our life once again.

BTW Onua is my favorite. He is way better and bigger now than the previous set.

Hopefully the eyestalks will eventually come in more than two colors.

There are only two colors in the sets that were shown. I would not expect to see any more in the first-half 2015 sets.

Well, I'm just glad one of the colors is blue. It would be great to have purple for Onua though.

Overall I really love the new set designs! I was especially pleased with Tahu and Kopaka. Gali was a slight disappointment to me as I've always liked her original design...but that's really the only issue I had. Which it's a very silly issue, really, and doesn't have much bearing on my impression of the sets as a whole. I'm very pleased and excited!

I know that, hence why I said eventually. It would be disappointing for Bionicle 2.0 to only have two eyestalk colors during however long it runs. Having more colors become available down the line would be wonderful.

I fully expect Trans. Fluorescent Reddish Orange eyes to show up if a set of antagonists uses the same head piece at any point. Maybe even Trans. Bright Bluish Violet, since Onua and the Earth Protector use that color and Makuta's eyes in the animation appear to be a shade of purple. We're definitely not going to be seeing the same range of eye colors the original Toa Mata featured, but I seriously doubt the two we have will remain the only options unless the new head piece is replaced before 2016.
