My general thoughts on Bionewcle

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't my personal blog to do whatever I please with, but as the writer of Nova Orbis, I think some people may be interested to hear my thoughts on what we have seen today. I saw the leaks months ago and have been saving a lot of what I'm about to say up for now, and there's SO  MUCH to say that I don't want little bits of it to be lost in various scattered threads. Seriously, this is just getting hard to follow. If anyone else wants to sum up everything they have to say about Bionicle 2015 as of this point in a single post, this is the place to do it.

Also... since this is a reboot, I guess that gives me free reign over the original continuity after all... and so, the course of Bionicle has changed forever! MWAHAHAHAHAH!!

Actually this would be the place to do it.

Eh, you'd think so, but I'm seeing more reactionary responses there to things that pop up moment to moment. I'm talking about letting out EVERYTHING that people have bottled up lately, possibly for months, anything they've been doing their darndest not to say 'til today, as concisely as they can. We're all ears.

Ok, so I love the idea of this topic, so... Here goes nothing

I started getting into Bionicle in 2002, when I was four years old. My first set was the brown bohrok, and it was already one of my favorites. Then, one of my Dad's students gave me all of the Toa Matas and from there Bionicle was the best thing ever. My interest in Bionicle peaked in 2003, with the Toa Nuva and the new movie. That was the only Lego theme that I was interested in. Then in 2004, other themes distracted me and I usually just got a few Toa and villains as well as all the titans from that year. I still loved Bionicle, but it was never my clear favorite interest. Around 2004, my little brother began taking most of Lego collection for himself, well, everything except for Bionicles which he abhorred. After 2006, my interest in Bionicles decreased, and reached its bottom in 2008 where I barely got any of the characters.

THEN, came 2009. It all started around a Christmas. I woke up, and at the bottom of my bed was a box. I unwrapped it and lo and behold! It was Mata Nui! I had known about Mata Nui since the beginning of Bionicle, and having him in set form was literally the best thing EVER!!! On top of that, I loved the set:) then, my parents started giving me an allowance, and I bought Gelu and Vastus, which cemented my favorite year of Bionicle:) then, in 2010, I opened the second Lego catalog of the year and got out the Bonkle magazine. I raced through it, and at the last page, it... Ended. I was devastated:(

I could never get into Hero Factory, there was always a more interesting Lego Systems Theme. I played with Bionicles more than all my other Legos because my little brother had stolen most of my earlier Systems sets. At the end of 2013, I discovered that you could buy old Bionicles on Ebay, and wasted no time in supplementing my collection:) this September, I discovered BZP which made me feel very nostalgic for Bionicle:)

I have spent most of my childhood playing with Bionicle and bringing it back brings so many amazing memories back to me:) These memories made Bionicle 2015 sensationally important to me, and it's something I wouldn't miss for the world!:)

I thought it was great. Just to clear things up... they didn't really give him a canister set early. They were letting people pick pieces out of a bin to build whatever characters they felt like, and they even let some of them take them home. He, apparently, built Tahu as accurately as he could so he'd be the first person in the world to have one, 3 months early.

Genius.
