I can't really tell you what new contents the latter has to offer, but the former now highlights series 12 and the Minifigures Online game. Both offer a new layout similar to the one of the BIONICLE website and you may observe all three have a website footer different from the rest of LEGO websites. Could this mean a LEGO.com redesign is in order next year? I certainly wouldn't mind to get rid of those huge Flash elements on the main site.
